Drops from Archimonde, the final boss in Hellfire Citadel. This piece, along with
look exactly like the armor Archimonde himself is wearing, and, surprise surprise, are not plate.
A must for Draenei Roleplayers!
This is another item in the trend of "Item Themed off the (normal) Final Boss of a Raid", which also does not change appearance across difficulties.
Some of these items have a lower droprate than other items off the boss,
having a droprate around a third of other items,
being similarly rare as Sulfuras, and
being ludicriously rare.
Mostly Complete list of Final Boss Themed items:
Black Temple - Illidan Stormrage:
Blackwing Descent - Nefarian:
(Not quite themed after Nefarian, but iconic after the original Blackwing Lair.)
Bastion of Twilight - Cho'gall:
Firelands - Ragnaros:
Throne of Thunder - Lei Shen:
Siege of Orgrimmar - Garrosh Hellscream:
Blackrock Foundry - Blackhand:
Hellfire Citadel - Archimonde:
I actually really like this for a transmog, too bad it is just cloth :)
pretty nice transmog with it
I went with
combination of items for a set with the Archimonde armor pieces. It was the best possible fit in my opinion.
I wanted to tie the blue in the robes together with dark blue gloves and boots, but I couldn't find any of the right color, and any gloves I could find that had the right color weren't flat gloves, so they disrupted and cut off the sleeves of the robe.
One has to wonder if the
, the matching
and the matching
will all be as rare of drops as the
Tusks of Mannoroth
off of Garrosh were... My guess is that they won't be, simply because there are three separate pieces required for the "set" and if they all were as rare as the Tusks of Mannoroth were then almost nobody would ever get them all. That being said, it might have been nice if Blizzard had made these cosmetic only, in the vein of the Dark Shaman set from Siege of Orgrimmar, and had them all drop in a bundle. Irregardless, it's a fantastic looking set and really makes me wish I had a cloth wearing toon.
Looking at Archimonde, a lot of his body is exposed beneath his armor; I wanted to recreate this scantily clad effect, possibly for Archimonde role-playing purposes! I came up with the following, but had difficulty finding matching feet.
. I also created a set that isn't so revealing, and has a more menacing, warlocky feel to it.
My idea for a matching set.
Transmogs well with
