All of legendary ring questline has been removed as of the release of Legion on August 31st 2016, you will not be able receive any more
and you can no longer finish any quests you had.
The remainder of this information is purely for archival purposes.
These are the next stage of Khadgar's legendary questline which are primarily found in
for the quest
. They are found in a similar fashion to Abrogator stones, 18 from Missions, 1 rarely (but seemingly more frequent than the stones) from work orders and 9, or instead an occasional 27,
per boss per week, on any difficulty in Blackrock foundry with an additional +4 per boss if you've already completed the quest on one of your characters. If you've received loot from a boss in a week, you will not be eligible to receive any legendary items from them from any other difficulty afterwards, a good addon to track your lockouts (including alts) is
. The runes used to stack to 100 but now stack to 999 as of 6.1.
In 6.2, naval missions granting
runes were also added to expedite acquisition rates for people still behind on the legendary quests. Additionally, the normal missions become more frequent if you've already completed the quest on one of your characters.
In 6.2.2 a weekly quest
was also added that lets you buy 75 runes for 20,000
in Vol'mar/Lion's Watch.
you will need 900
to create 3
, which often shouldn't take longer than 4 weeks as long as you do most of the content rewarding Elemental runes but can be done very quickly if you do everything possible and/or have the catch-up bonuses. Handing in the quest grants you a slightly improved proc (15% as opposed to 10%) and
715 ilvl ring,
and is a prerequisite for the next stage of the legendary questline which involves trying to convert your little prisoner of war after you've also completed the accompanying quests
The final stage of the legendary ring questline is
which requires you to have a Shipyard in your level 3 Garrison and to have gotten
as a follower as part of the legendary questline, and includes collecting 33
as well as a quest to retrieve
from unique shipyard missions.
I got the quest to collect these last night, I found out you get 18 from the mission
but only get 1 from work orders. The equivalent ratio for mission vrs work order would be 6. Maybe something they overlooked.
Really hope the drop rate for these is high, seeing as we need 900.
Beside from Blackrock Foundry, these are also obtainable from working orders and garrison mission.
EDIT: 3 days in a row i got 1 of these from Enchanter's Study working order.
These are obtained through killing bosses in Blackrock Foundry, rare follower missions aswell as a rare drop from any work order.
Hoarders, prepare your backpacks as these stack to 100 and you need 300 to make a tablet. Thats atleast 4 of your precious bagpack slots reserved at all times.
Confirmed these can be obtained through work orders. The day after I picked up the legendary quest, I looted 3x
from the following buildings: The Forge, Enchanter's Study and Trading post.
The following data is through 5 work order stations.
Week 1: 8x
Week 2: 12x
Week 3: 9x
Week 4: 3x
Week 5: 13x
through work orders and missions before BRF hit.
Any work order can drop an
. Only stack to 100. Rage.
These seem to drop from work orders more often than alligator stones, however, this may be luck on my part. I'll keep this updated with more time, and let it be known for sure.
Day 1: 2 runes, 8 hours apart.
Nothing as of 11 AM.
No runes from work orders.
Day 3: 1 rune.
Day 4: No runes.
Day 5: No runes.
Day 6: 1 rune.
Day 7: 1 rune.
Week 1 Total: 5 Runes.
Day 8: 1 rune.
Day 9: 1 rune.
Day 10: No runes.
Day 11: No runes.
Day 12: 2 runes.
Day 13: 2 runes.
Day 14: 1 rune.
Week 2 Total: 7 Runes.
Day 15: 1 rune.
Day 16: 1 rune.
Day 17: No runes.
Day 18: No runes.
Day 19: No runes.
Day 20 - 22: 7 runes.
Looks like in 6.1 the max stack for these is
going up to 999, up from 100.
Last Sunday before Blackrock Foundry, got 101 of these sitting in my bags.
So how many drop per boss in BRF?
It looks like all bosses in Slagworks drop 9 runes on normal difficulty
Minimum 9 per boss (27 from Blackhand) - Maximum 27 per boss (It drops 9 or 27). Can be obtained via work orders at a higher rate compared to Abrogator Stones.
18 from 1 of 6 missions per week.
Minimum 3 weeks of full clears - 270 from bosses, 18 from mission, average 12 per week from work orders.
Maximum 8 weeks of full clears - ignoring mission and bad boss rng.
If you have extra Garrison resources, that you don't mind using to get those last few Runes, purchase
for 300 resources since Stone is mostly useless and people have an abundance of them to expedite the process a bit - might give you about 10-50 in the long run in 6.1
If getting Runes is
for you do the following:
Any two except Inn
Any three profession buildings (no Salvage Yard/Storehouse)
Killed 4 bosses on normal yesterday evening, I scored 4..... yes 4. I wonder how this is going to take. I score better with the weekly quest that is about 16-18.
I hope Blizzard push those numbers because we need a lot of those :\
I've picked up nearly a hundred of these things from Garrison Work Orders & Shipments alone, still, this is going to take quite a while...
u can get
Work order u can every week 7-15x
Worst part is, you need all 900 to hand in quest, which is a prerequisite to getting the quest for Garona follower.. :(
Just a friendly reminder, as it was with previous legendary quest line in MoP, you can get
only once a week from each boss in any difficulty. If you decide to kill the same boss that week again but in other difficulty, he will NOT drop any
Looks like your other characters get a bonus after one char completed the quest.
My warlock alt receives always 9 + 4 runes in our current raid... waiting for 27 + x runes :)
I assume a +50% runes bonus.
Edit: It's also 27+4.
The Elemental Runes will have an increased drop chance for alts if you have already completed the legendary quest line on one character on your account. This was confirmed by the devs on their WarcraftDevs Twitter account on March 11th 2015.
Anyone else found that they seem to get far less elemental runes from garrison work orders as you continue along the quest? The first few weeks I would get 2-3 a day consistently.
Now I'm 100 or so runes from finishing the last couple weeks I get maybe 2-3 a week...
Plus I haven't gotten a 27 drop from bosses (minus Blackhand) in 3 weeks either.
Yet alts just starting are getting the same 2-3 a day from work orders and an average of 2-3 bosses dropping 27 each week.
I know it's probably just RNG but getting really frustrated with it, feels like there's something wrong...
Apparently, unlike getting other loot off of raid bosses, you can only get the runes once per boss per week. I.e., if you kill Oregorger in LFR and then kill him again on Normal, you only get one set of runes from the first kill. It makes me wonder how people are claiming that they've completed the quest as I've run the LFRs each week as well as the garrison missions, mine, herb garden, and two other profession work orders each day and I'm still more than 300 shy of completion.
Jesus christ...900...really? :-/
Attention if you seem to have been stuck on the quest check if you have the quest in your quest log.
I transferred my character and was bashing my head against the wall why my runes weren't dropping until I realized my questlog is empty!
Just an oddity. Running LFR on my Mage. Have killed Tectus (no runes) and the two huge Ogren. Also no runes. Haven't done any raiding on said Mage for two weeks.
Sometimes you start LFR and it gets you in the middle of the run. Which boss did you already rune farm this week, or not?
Easy, if you know (I didn't until today): In the LFR window, a small yellow triangle appears just beside the raid name. Mouse over it will tell which bosses you have already looted. If boss name is written in red, wait for next week :-\
Just wanted to inform, that I am often get
I managed to get 321 in the first week of my quest by doing all of BRF, strict navel missions, garrison missions and work orders.
If you take it easy like I did and just get them through your followers (naval as well as original ones) it's a real breeze. Without any effort whatsoever (except patience) I'm only short 150 to complete my last tablet and I've only raided BRF once.
Skimmed through the comments but couldn't seem to find the answer... any extra runes I am assuming can just be discarded once we move on to the next part of the quest chain?
I suppose, lore-wise, the PC scotch tapes/super-glues together about 300 pebbles into a poorly shaped tablet. Khadgar, although visibly annoyed by the sight of 900 pebbles hastily arranged into "tablets," reluctantly accepts just so he can get you out of his office.
I came looking for a quick LFR list. Didn't see one, so here's one for others who might be looking.
The Black Forge
Hans'gar & Franzok
If you are trying to get the last few using rush orders I'd suggest using one at a time and looting the stack, after using 7 rush orders at a time then looting twice didn't proc 1 rune but by looting after each use managed to obtain the final 8 needed for hand in.
It's MUCH faster to collect these on alts now. Provided you have a good set of followers and do the shipyard regularly, you get so many extras from bonus missions.
I started this stage on my 7th Character (the other 6 have all done it already) 10 days ago and the totals I acquired each week were:
1st Week: 303 - A short 2 day week having just completed the Highmaul step, obtained From Full LFR clear, small number of shipyard and garrison missions, plus the catch up quest in Tanaan
2nd Week: 532 - Full week to gather everything, many shipyard missions, full LFR clear, at least 2 Garrison missions, catch up quest and several work order single runes
3rd Week (I already have 835) - It's Wednesday (EU new week begins) Catch up quest offers me 75 in one go, and without settng foot in Shipyard or LFR, I have 10 more than I need.
possible to get this done in just 2 weeks, and very easily doable in 3.
It's funny that You can obtain these even after You have completed the
quest - by doing missions that award them :D For example
Does anyone know if using a
Seal of Tempered Fate
will have a chance for more
on a boss that was already looted?
Q: How long will it take to get the Legendary Ring if I start it on an alt?
With horrible luck, it took me 9 days to get 125 Abrogator Stones and 900 Elemental Runes. I failed 3 Naval missions and one follower mission, losing around 110 Elemental Runes.(
A: Can take as low as 4 weeks.(3 if you're extremely lucky and don't fail missions)
You will need a Mage Tower and complete work orders for
Mission Completion Orders
to get this going as fast as possible.
Assuming you want to switch mains and you just hit 100 on your X class. Rogue let's say.
Step 1. Get yourself geared up for LFR
( Completing this step first, makes the other steps much easier)
Go into Ashran, Follow the main group around, do events, kill rares, get your pickpocket book, and start pick-pocketing players. You will get 5 Artifact Fragments per player if you pickpocket on your faction's territory, and 10 if you do it on theirs. (Crossroads and up)
You will get 3 honor per Artifact fragment. So if you pickpocket 10 players on their territory, you'll have 300 honor. That's ALOT since it only takes about 1 minute to do that.
Buy yourself some 700 ilvl honor gear. I advise you to buy Season 2 epics instead of the Season 3 blues, as for some reason, the trinket has more agility. Plus purple looks better.
Step 2. Get some followers.
Build the Inn/Tavern ( level 2 ) in your garrison and recruit one from there. I recommend Epic mount or Fast Learner as their traits.
After you built the inn, go to the second floor and look for Millhouse Manastorm. He will give you a quest to have him as your follower. If he is not there, just go in the main building and open up your building table. Swap the Inn/Tavern around until he spawns.
Do UBRS for Leeroy(epic) and complete your Millhouse(epic) quest
Do Slag mines for Croman (epic)
Brawler's Guild level 5 awards Meatball. (epic)
If you see a group doing BRF normal, join them and do the achievement on Flamebender(requires you not to kill the NPC she's with. have a tank move it to the side and burn the boss). If you succeed, you'll get him as a follower. (epic)
Get a few open world followers: I recommend getting at least:
-Abu'gar from nagrand
- Leorajh from Spires of Arak
- Aeda Brightdawn (or the alliance equivalent from Talador)
Open up Tanaan jungle and Complete the quest : Rumble in the Jungle, as well as any other dailies you find there. When you're done, kill Saberstalker Rares untill you get revered. ( Jump servers. You can solo them with Leeching poison). At revered you can buy a follower for 100 fangs. I got Pallas as a level 100 Rare follower.
You can get a follower from each zone by completing the quest line that starts your outpost in that area. I recommend Nagrand, as it only takes about 5 -10 minutes.
From this point you can either go with what you have, or spend gold to buy other followers. Although they can be quite expensive.
Step 3. Build a shipyard.
If you got Saberstalker rep, then you have a shipyard already. Make sure you build all 6 boats.
Tip: Use the
Rush Order: Shipyard
you received from the quest earlier to build them instantly, and send them on EXP missions.
The shipyard, will provide you with missions awarding 10-25
. These take 1-4 hours to complete.
Send your followers on missions and level them up.
You will get missions for
every hour or so if you completed the one existing already. This is where you'll want to use your
Mission Completion Orders
, as these missions can take up to 26 hours to complete.
Step 5: Tanaan!
Once you've opened your Tanaan base, there will be a weekly quest awarding 25
. ( you can complete both in the same week). The quests require you to turn in 15000 Apexis crystals for
, and 20000 for
. Fastest way to get that is by doing Bonus Objectives and the dailies there.
Step 6: Profession work orders!
Open up the mine and garden in your garrison. Additionally, you can build 3 profession "huts" and a Lumber mill, all of which have a chance to award legendary quest items.
If you've done all of this you should get:
from Highmaul LFR
25 from Tanaan
Aprox 3 per 2-3 hours from normal missions
Aprox 20 per 3 hours from naval missions.
Plus whatever you get from profession work orders.
You should finish Abrogator Stones in max 3 days.
become useless once the quest is completed; they can not be traded and are not currency for anything else, so any leftovers can safely be discarded.
When I assembled the last tablet, I had maybe around 5 missions between my garrison and shipyard which yielded Elemental Runes. Which meant that a lot of pieces of me died inside when I deleted something with an orange tooltip, to make space for the next quest item.
I don't know if it's been posted yet but if you can fly into the Alliance or Horde fort, you can turn in the quest to spend Apexis Crystals on Elemental Runes in the opposing side's fort! Easy 75 Elemental Runes if you have the ability to stay mounted when you accept/talk to quest givers. Simply fly in, get the quest, fly off to remove agro, and fly back to turn it in. Be quick and it's an easy score! Hope this helps
Still have about 35 of these in my bank for safekeeping. When I finished my quest for these, one of my shipyard missions was still in progress, so I got some to spare
This and all the other items obtained from this questline should probably be marked unobtainable now
