Shadowmeld that turns you into a tree :D
"I have a job for you. I need you to assassinate someone from a tree."
"Sure. Like, leap down from the tree or.. shoot them from it?"
"No. I need you to -be- a tree."
Serious note: This is associated with the Lumber Mill in your Garrison. There are quests involving your Lumber Mill, and
Legacy of the Ancients
asks you to find and kill four Draenor ancients spawned by chopping down level 2 trees.
Direct counter to resto druids.
Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?
As counter-productive as it would be, I really hope this "tree" is the equivalent of the player holding 2 twigs... or a cartoonish obviously fake little tree.
Though I suspect that it will look identical to the trees of Draenor since it can only be used there.
So I guess Assassin's Guise turns you into an ass?
Grassy knoll mystery solved forever. All conspiracy theorists can go home.
Sometimes you just have to root in and wait. They'll never expect that your bark really is worse than your bite. Maybe they'll spruce this item up a bit before launch.
Watch out for archemonde
Vanish for all classes!
I suspect it will be something similar to the tree disguise from the quest, "Tree's Company," or a disguise similar to the one from the quest, "Ambush At The Overlook."
This item turns you in to a tree, dropping combat, the exact model depending on which zone of Draenor you're in. You can not use this item in your garrison for some reason (only tested for horde).
If you are upset it doesn't turn you into a Draenor Ancient, don't despair!
, from Yggdrel, just south of Karabor in Shadowmoon Valley, does in fact turn you into one.
It has a short cast, but is usable while mounted, making you a tree on a shrunken mount, but it looks more like a mount impaled by a tree.
It Dismisses pets temporarily, which is useful for the combat drop for hunters, warlocks, ice mages, etc.
In Gorgrond, it can change you into either the broad leafed palm looking tree or the drylands skinny one.
(I haven't done extensive testing to determine if it actually depends on the sub-zone you're in or if it's just random.)
In Nagrand, I've only been turned into the trees from the grasslands areas.
In Frostfire, you become a snow laden tree.
In Spires of Arak, you become one of the trees you can log in the southern areas.
In Talador, you become the knotted trunk, red leaf version of Terokkar trees.
In Shadowmoon Valley, you become a plain shadowmoon tree. I wish you could become one of the whiteish-purple willow trees, but have been unable to make it change me into one.
Druid will all be jealous, so much tree form.
This could be great way to gank players. If it works like shadowmeld. That player cant see your name then just sit some where where is a lot of trees and wait for tress passer and then bum ambush them!
I really just want to know if it works in ashran, just imagine an entire raid group disguised just waiting for some unlucky fellow to wonder to close.
So THIS is how a Tauren hides in a tree... Or is it?
definitely use it to make the other faction
me alone. Hopefully I can also use it to
out on my stealthing tactics. I sure hope I'm not
ing up the wrong tree.
No need to call security, I'll see myself out...
Ever wanted to be a Treant yourself, but you didn't want to get a druid with the glyph? Then this item is definitely for you! With this you can turn into a Tree, and you'll immediately go out of combat, who needs Vanish or Feign death anymore, right? Perfect item to troll your friends too!
You can buy this item right now for only 19000 gold! All you have to do is call 1-800-Garrosh and it should come straight to your mailbox on C.O.D! So what are you waiting for, buy now!
Tree assassins are notably inefficient against fire related enemies.
Nobody here but us trees.
This is now showing as horde only. I am really hoping that's a mistake. Surely something as cool as this won't be faction specific, esp considering how totally not lore relevant it is.
Edit: no longer the case.
I wonder what would happen if a lot of people used this at the same time - temporary forest ?
While this may be a dumb question, can anyone tell me if I ran into someone using Treessassin's Guise, would I be able to run through them like you can when they are not in tree form? Or, if you come upon someone in this disguise would they block you like a real tree does so you have to go around them?
To hunt a tree, you must think ,feel, nourish, wiggle like a tree.
To kill a tree you need to become a tree! Only than you can master the art of the bark and become a true "Treessassin"
Is not consumed when used.
Just a few things about this item:
If you acquire the
and later decide you don't want the Lumber Mill (and subsequently replace the building), you'll still get to keep and use the Guise.
Currently, the tree you turn into
be Skymirrored: simply use the Treessassin's Guise and then (without targeting anyone else) use your
. Since this force-targets yourself, you'll be turned into a walking tree for 10 minutes!
You, too, can now run around as a
, confusing friend and foe alike!
I saw someone use this and then safely use their hearthstone to get away. How would one counter this? I needed to kill that punk.
Use this, while on a flight path, after casting Aspect of the Fox. Flying TREE !
When you use this you are unable to get targeted and you do not take damage from AOE spells. You can also hearth and it does it break the disguise. This makes it a great item to use while you're getting ganked.
It would be great if this could go in your toy box.
"Be lion-mettled, proud; and take no care
Who chafes, who frets, or where conspirers are:
Macbeth shall never vanquish'd be until
Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill
Shall come against him."
Macbeth, Act IV
As someone who likes to just do world quests (and avoid PVP), this guise is a great anti-gank weapon. I just fired it off during a rogue gank, confused the hell out them, and they ended up just leaving. Clearly, as this gets more well known, people will just stick around for the 1 minute cool down but right now, I'm pretty happy with it.
I'm a squishy mage and tend to get ganked quite a bit... (I know, I know, I shouldn't have picked a PVP server... long story)
Got it on my rogue recently, but I'd like to know if any other class that cannot drop agro can use it to do it like Vanish (rogue)/Feign Death (hunters).
Use it while on a water bug mount, then hit spacebar. The tree stands up on skinny legs and looks around..
It appears that Blizzard nerfed the ability to combine this with Ali's Skymirror and run around as a tree. The tree disguise is removed now even if you have the skymirror buff.
This item is like an improved version of
but with a cast time. It's even better because you become untargetable, makes for some fun world pvp when you have too many people on you. Turn into a tree and watch everybody circle around you trying to figure out how to get you, then
out of there!
The downside is it's cast time, which can be interrupted or you could be killed before the cast finishes, and it's not very good for ambushing people because it only lasts 1 minute, but
is awesome for ambushing! All in all if you like having fun with world pvp it is definitely worth taking the time to get this item.
It has a reasonably fast cast time of 1 second.
When you turn into a tree you cannot be targeted.
You will remain a tree for 1 minute.
You can cast (at least some) spells while in tree form.
You can essentially TreeHearth with any of the following (all tested as of 6.1.2):
- this has no cooldown on equip.
- if not equipped you can equip and wait on the cooldown.
As a paladin, you can bubble and then cast this, making it virtually uninterruptible.
You can exit the area quickly using:
- for excellent comedic effect.
As a rogue, if your vanish is down, you should be able to go into tree form to remove yourself from combat, then enter stealth, though my rogue doesn't have this item yet, so I haven't tried it.
I have not tested if you're immune to AoE attacks while in tree form.
7.0 Legion Beta - This is now a toy.
If you have Draenor Flying you can activate this in combat and sit in tree form a while, until the bar showing the duration of the effect is just over 50% completed (depending on your latency and settings this may be different). At this point you can cast any flying mount
and remain in tree form until the cast has completed
, after which you can immediately take off and escape being ganked. This makes it much, much better than a bubble-hearth because you don't have to hearth away to escape being ganked, you can just fly off and continue whatever you were doing before you got into trouble.
With only a 10 minute cooldown, learning to use this effectively makes you practically un-gankable while outdoors in Draenor. Just keep it on your toolbars or keybind it, and remember you've got it when you get in trouble.
I've used this item to escape death during world PvP in Tanaan Jungle many times, it's not only extremely effective, but very easy to use. I also have tried many things to attempt to dismount or otherwise re-target and kill players that had casted this to drop out of combat and fly off as I've described, including dropping hunter traps directly under their feet (which you might think would activate the second they dropped tree form) and nothing works... I feel it's something to do with server latency, but it is basically impossible to attack someone who has done what I described, even Death Gripping them on their mounts afterwards has always been
Just as a note, I have used this exclusively on my Hunter main. When the tree disguise activates your pet immediately despawns, and it immediately re-spawns whenever the effect is canceled. Bodyguard followers do not do this and remain active (most likely to be killed in most PvP situations).
Something interesting is if you are under the effects of
when using this, the Ordon Fire-Watcher transform remains unchanged when Treessassin's Guise is active (you do not turn into a tree visually, but the rest of the effect is the same)... you suddenly become invulnerable and untargetable to enemies, which is very confusing to whoever is attacking you. Generally they just walk away after a couple seconds thinking you disconnected from the game and they are just experiencing a weird side effect of server latency.
I used this tonight and somehow the enemy player caused me to go back to normal form. :( Any one know how that happens? I was fighting a monk and a Rogue. I was clearly in tree mode getting ready to feather when It was removed somehow.
This item is wonderful and really useful - you immediately drop aggro and become stealthed and untargetable, and you can eat and heal up to full health while still in tree form. You can also get on your flying mount while in tree form, and immediately fly out of danger. Helpful if you pull too many adds.
