This Icon was previously used for elementium in the cataclysm beta, and shortly after that it was used for "Ebonsteel" which never made it into the game. With any luck we'll get to keep the icon this time!
Truesteel looks like it might be the Titanium/Pyrite/Trillium of this Xpac, if not it's Living steel. Gear made with it can be seen all the way up to I lvl 672, with dungeon blues hanging around 620. Crafting recipes, especially epic ones call for lots of this stuff, one can assume, in an effort to keep gathering profession and crafters very busy.
Level 2 forge with lvl 100 epic follower produces 10 per workorder. 8 without the follower
lvl 602 Blacksmithing creates 5
Item was ninja hotfixed to be an 'uncommon' green item within the last hour. Curious...
As of today November 15, 2014, Truesteel Ingot was changed from Rare to Uncommon.
Created on a daily cooldown by blacksmiths or at the
work order produces 1 with no follower and With a follower it has a chance of producing 2 (depending on follower level) as well as
This stuff wouldnt be bad except for the fact that it takes forever to produce through work orders, or each BoE Epic requires 100 each. The time and costs involved are way to steep.
It's not required for leveling gear now.

What really sucks is that most of this crap cant be used if you have 2 gathering professions. It's useless. I'm mining and skinning which means I can't use ingots and everything you can buy with primal spirits is for a crafting profession. I have to say this is one of my least fav expansions.
If you are still leveling blacksmithing, it will be worth crafting "riddle of truesteel ignot" from 600 up untill ~670*, Because you make less ignots from the daily CD the lower skill you have.
This is just my estimation after some rough calculations, and it also depends on the AH prices on your realm.
*Skill 670 is where i think we start to get 8 ignots per daily CD
Sweet mother of cheese, why is this soulbound? Why are there no non-Blacksmith professions that need/want/use this? WHY IS IT SOULBOUND?
All the armor / weapon pieces that call for this crafting reagent requires 100 of it. If you're looking to use up excess Truesteel Ingots, I recommend crafting
since it vendors for the most and the 20 each of Draenor ore is no object of concern.
This will make your life easier! Try it out.
PS: You have to put these spells on your action bar to make it work.

I'm surprised no one has tried to determine what these are actually worth. As that seems like your number one concern when crafting with them and eventually selling a product. To simplify the equation we'll remove Sorcerous Fire and Sorcerous Earth.

I'm always a bit hessitant to putting a monetary value on something because that changes from expansion to expansion and differs between different realms. But for the sake of trying to shed some light on the elusive Truesteel Ingot we'll try it out. We'll take the average buyout price as listed on Wowhead as of early Battle for Azeroth.

would land at about 250 Gold. Undermine Journal currently lists the EU Median Price at 630 Gold.
Hopefully this will help you in making some decisions about crafting with Truesteel Ingots.
*Assuming your character is level 110 or higher. Blacksmithing skill doesn't seam to affect the yield, level does however. I have never gotten more than 20 ingots despite being above level 110 though.
*Assuming your follower assigned to the forge is level 100.
