Vanity items are useless... So essential.

From Patch 5.4 Hotfixes for October 2nd

No more mood lighting in your instance: 降雨之石, 风雪之石, 灰烬之石, and 夕阳之石 are no longer able to be used while in a raid instance.

Using the stone at night and flying up and down from its location makes for some very...interesting visuals. Thought the game was flipping out at first before I realized what it was.

Decided to try this out on Dreanor, more specifically in Shadowmoon Valley. When I first cast it, I was ecstatic to see it light up the area, but almost two seconds later, it instantly went back to the same, dreary "night" that is Shadowmoon. What was interesting is that it would try to change it two more times before it finally stopped. As I walked away from the crystal to lose the buff and walk back in range, it did it again. So, we shall still have to suffer eternal darkness in Shadowmoon. However, I did do this in my garrison, I shall go out into Shadowmoon Valley itself and see if that changes anything, but I'm doubtful. I will report back soon!

Ok, so I went out into Shadowmoon Valley instead of my garrison and I'm not sure I totally understand this, but the stone makes Shadowmoon turn from night to night... like it just makes the sky darker than it already is. Pretty sure someone is going to say "working as intended", but this was rather disappointing.

Why doesn't Blizzard make this have unlimited charges, and be turned into a toy?

I managed to get a bug where I had this buff permanently on one of my characters. No idea how I did that though, sadly, but it is possible to be permanently sunset stoned.
