This item is extremely useful for grinding and killing the various creatures on the Timeless Isle. It is especially useful when used in conjunction with the other two Timeless Isle buff items:
These items make taking down elites much easier, and I strongly advise to have all three buffs active while grinding for
s or rep with
The proc does not appear to have an internal cooldown, and procs very frequently.
The most reliable source of this item would be the quest reward from
, but this item does drop occasionally from some enemies around the island. I have not yet determined which types of enemies can and cannot, but at this time, it appears the most often from the Ironfur Bulls and Ordos Yaungol. The professions my character was using at that time were Herbalism and Inscription.
UPDATE: I don't have numbers, but the drop rate of all three buff items from the Timeless Isle are affected by your professions. There are hints to this in the flavour text of all three items. For the Singing Crystal, the drop rate is significantly increased if you have a Profession that crafts armor items.
If I get some more data, I will update this post to reflect it.
has nature damage. If you are one enha shamans who favor mastery this patch, you will see 190k+ normal damages during your buff.
Apparently Ordos is not a "creature of the Timeless Isle". This didn't hit him once on my last kill. Similarly
didn't proc once during the kill.
I'm a 540 ilevel Rogue and this buff adds about +10% more dps (so says Recount after farming ~50 of the elites in the sanctuary).
Using this with an existing Singing Crystal buff will not refresh the duration. I had to click it off and use another one (after having wasted 2 or so...) to get the full 60 minutes refreshed.
of this item says, "Easily missed, unless you have the skilled eyes of an armour craftsman." What I believe this means is that as an armour crafter (Leatherworking, but I'm sure you can be Tailoring or Blacksmithing as well) I have an increased chance to get these. I have crystals coming out the wazoo but I rarely get a book.
I'm certain that the
("Difficult to harvest, unless you are a skilled gatherer.") is talking about one of any of the gathering professions. (Herbalism, Skinning, Mining) I had dropped skinning, but when I leveled it back up, the dew started dropping more frequently. (And you can skin it off mobs, too, though that's pretty disgusting, isn't it?)
What I have not figured out yet is the
. "Hard to find, unless you are a scholar of ancient lore." All I know is that it's not one of the secondary professions, since I have them all maxed. Sounds like Archaeology, doesn't it? Well it's not. I could take a crack at this and say it's probably Enchanting or Inscription, but all I know for sure is that as a Leatherworker/Skinner with all secondary professions maxed, I do not have it.
Whatever profession you don't have, make sure to select that reward from the daily quest
Path of the Mistwalker
so you'll have plenty. You can have the book, the dew, and the crystal all up at one time, so maintain plenty of all three by choosing your reward wisely, and try not to pull anything that might kill you unless your buffs are running out anyway. It's just a matter of coin farming efficiency.
I am an Enc/Alc on my main and I did not understand why I got so many more books rather than the other two. Now this makes more sense.
Take your level 85 character, swim out to the timeless isle, eat some
and tag some rares until you get a few of these.
Grinding the low hp
are often a one hit kill resulting in around 20k exp per kill unrested to 90. Even better are the five camps of
which can be AE'ed for a substantial amount of experience.
The great news is each of these have different abilities, so an 85 of any class can find a suitable npc they are capable of killing with their ability set.
, or to a lesser extent
to make it even easier.
Possibly the quickest way to 90 currently.
This item is bugged or has an astronomically low proc rate. I've farmed thousands of spectral pirates in Blackguard's Forgotten Cove and it has NEVER procced on my monk or warrior. Checked battle log, kept an eye out on screen, looked for any visual cue. Nothing.
Does it not work if the other hour long buffs like Book of Ages are active?
I'm a DK with herb/inscription, and I got one from fishing in Jewel Danio spots. (Not in a crate.)
Interestingly enough, of the three Timeless Isle buff items, this is the only one with a vendor sell price. So if you've got a full stack of all three at the end of your day on the Isle, take the crystals as your quest reward - for an extra 3 copper in your pocket.
Don't spend it all in one place.
A useful macro to cast or refresh your timeless buffs.

While doing any sort of mob-killing, the extra damage that this item gives was my main source of damage outcome on my Enhancement Shaman.
Although the text says "Your damage dealing abilities...", I've tested and can confirm this also procs from a few non-damage-dealing abilities.
This is an example of my combat log when casting Cyclone and Soothe on mobs, with my only buff being the Singing Crystal:
Shandøra begins casting Cyclone.
Shandøra casts Cyclone at Burning Berserker.
Burning Berserker is afflicted by Shandøra's Cyclone.
Shandøra Piercing Song failed. Burning Berserker was immune.
Shandøra casts Soothe at Ashleaf Sprite.
Shandøra's Piercing Song hits Ashleaf Sprite for 96756 Nature.
I'll list the ones I can test and confirm here.
