An Advanced S.E.L.F.I.E Guide to Being Really, Really Ridiculously Good Looking
This guide is intended to help you take great selfies in the World of Warcraft. Scroll down to see some of my tips and tricks, along with some examples of my own selfies.
"Wait, selfies?" you say? Of course! The
was recently introduced to World of Warcraft as a toy, and it can be a lot of fun if you're willing to play around with it. Head over to this
guide on the S.E.L.F.I.E Camera
to learn the basics and come back once you've snapped a few pictures of your own.
/emote, /emote, /emote
In addition to the movements your character does while holding the camera, you can /emote. Experiment with the range of facial expressions on the new models and try to catch them in otherwise unseen ways. Here's a couple emotes from each race and gender to give you an idea of the possibilities emotes unlock.
/chicken (believe it or not)
Toys and Pets
The first step is working the camera, and the next step is discovering fun toys to use! Note that while you can't use toys or costumes while in the selfie UI, you can use them beforehand.

The Importance of Angles
Don't be afraid to turn the camera in all directions. The angle of the camera can drastically change some poses for a more dramatic effect.
For example, this is the /salute emote for undead ladies. Turn the camera angle to the right and her hand takes up the focal point of the selfie. Turn her left and you can see her face better and it looks like you've just insulted her family.
Swing the camera up or down to catch the small or larger character models in a better position. Some races have a default view that isn't the best for capturing their emotes.
Tauren males: move the camera down to point it up at him.
Gnome females: move the camera up to point it down at her.
Taking pictures on your own is fun, but try inviting a friend or two to play around with the camera! If you're worried about photobombers (not the toy!) then head over to your garrison.
Capture a Moment
You just killed a boss after many, many wipes and you've taken your guild picture but why not take a selfie with your role buddies? One of my favourite things to do after a new boss kill is gather up my healer buddies and snap a group photo.
Wiping on a boss? Take a photo of them coming towards you.
Catch the boss running towards a guildmate!
Snap a photo of one of the mechanics in action.
Crop (and Tweet)
Many snapshots will often have things you don't want the final product to include.
The in-game cropping feature is easy to use, if you've enabled Twitter integration. If not, opening your selfie in Paint or any other editing program will work. Below are two examples of my own selfies and how cropping changed them.
Use the in-game
to easily share your new photos and remember to use the hashtags
#warcraft and #selfie
. These tags make your photos easily searchable and you can browse the tags for selfies like yours.
Thanks for checking out this guide to advanced selfies. Remember, try everything - see what looks good on your character or what looks silly. Go to different places - a change in lighting will lend a different atmosphere to your photo. Different emotes shine at a funny angle or halfway through the motion. Catch the expressions in between!
I love seeing all the selfies people take! Tweet them
on Twitter! If you have any questions, don't hesititate to leave a comment here or hit me up on Twitter.
Special thanks to @davidlucio and @shapingus for the use of their Worgen male selfies!

Absolutely amazing work! This guide is excellent, 5 stars!
Great work on this Guide! Not only have you taken the time to gather all of these great selfie portraits, I really appreciate the time and effort that you took in organizing the results in a using the tabs so that others can follow and then re-create the looks if they so choose.
This guide is a must read for anyone who wishes to take their selfie photos in a new direction, whether that be with in-game or real life selfies, as much of what you have posted can be used by real life photographers as well.
Superb guide. My selfies have always been underwhelming. Now they will be awesome!
I love the SELFIE camera...been using it on everything since I first got it a month ago. Some of my work (when I remember to do it) can be see @TrixOfStormwind if you're interested.

If you dislike the concept of the Selfie camera, please post on Blizzard's official forums rather than downvoting this guide.
Awesome guide! Take all the WoW selfies!
Since almost every comment for this guide says that it's a wonderful guide I'm not sure why this guide isn't a 5 star guide.
Thogar's Train Challenge: Take a picture while standing on the tracks, with the train as close behind you as possible.
Absolutely love this guide. Your Nelf looks SO happy! LOL
As a female-gnome player, who suffers with the poor camera angle, this guide is very useful! =)
