Notable Trash Mobs
While there are quite a few trash packs between Kargath and The Butcher, many of them can be skipped if players jump down from the ledge just right of the Coliseum exit, into the pool of water behind The Butcher.
Players will have to kill

, a giant warthog, no matter which path they take. Krush has a large health pool and one dangerous ability,

. Krush will charge forward, inflicting very heavy damage to players in his way. This can be fatal, especially early in the encounter when people are still suffering from fall damage.
On Heroic difficulty, there are two boars - Krush and

. Smash has the same abilities as Krush.

The Butcher Tips & Strategy
CleaveThe Butcher encounter is a simple DPS check with little movement, but requires a lot of coordination. The trickiest mechanic is the
顺劈斩
/
龟裂创伤
interaction.
Every few seconds, The Butcher will detect the largest clump of players within melee range and cast
顺劈斩
on them, applying a stack of
龟裂创伤
, a moderate bleed that lasts for fifteen seconds or until refreshed.
The raid must designate teams of several players to soak the
顺劈斩
, since if any player reaches 5 stacks of
龟裂创伤
they will instantly die (10 on Looking For Raid difficulty, 4 on Mythic difficulty). Because
顺劈斩
damage is split amongst all the players in the clump, but the
龟裂创伤
effect is a flat amount of damage per player and can get overwhelming with too many targets, three to four players is ideal for triggering the
顺劈斩
effect.
The best strategy is to assign two groups of at least two players each to stand in melee range - one at the right leg, one at the left - and to have a ranged player step in and trigger a group when it is that group's designated time to soak
顺劈斩
. This ensures that the tanks will never be targeted by
顺劈斩
, while also moderating the amount of
龟裂创伤
damage healers must heal through.
The "trigger" player should stand in their melee pile long enough to draw three
顺劈斩
s in a row, reaching 3 stacks of
龟裂创伤
, and then move out; the other group's "trigger" player should then step in in order to start triggering
顺劈斩
on the other group of players.
This cycle of 3
顺劈斩
s per group is repeated for the entire encounter.
Approximately every minute, The Butcher will knock all players back and then prepare to use
旋转跳劈
on the largest remaining clump of players.
This attack also leaves a stack of
龟裂创伤
.
A clump of two or three players is enough to bait the
旋转跳劈
without dying to its damage; ranged DPS or healers who are
not
assigned to triggering
顺劈斩
in the melee stacks should be tasked with stacking up in a designated location for
旋转跳劈
.
The Tenderizer deals heavy damageTanks must stack together to split

When The Butcher reaches 30% health, he enters a

He attacks more frequently - including using

more frequently - and deals increased damage.
This is the most dangerous part of the encounter, and players should use their strongest personal and raid-wide cooldowns (damage, damage reduction, and healing) to survive and shorten this segment of the fight as much as possible.
If you are having trouble with the
顺劈斩
damage under 30% health, consider switching to 3 groups taking 2 stacks of
龟裂创伤
each. While this is slightly more demanding on positioning, it can reduce the burden on healers and the chance of player death.

, and begins to attack more quickly.
It is still best for the raid to assign two equally-sized groups for

soaking, but there is no need for additional players to step in and out to trigger the
顺劈斩
- The Butcher will choose randomly between the two groups and it is extremely unlikely that any one group will exceed 9 stacks of

.
Two groups of four or five players each should be sufficient to split the damage and still allow
龟裂创伤
to be healable.
Players with
龟裂创伤
should still be careful to avoid standing with the ranged group after The Butcher knocks them back, since that is the only way for a player to exceed 9 stacks of

in the two-group strategy.

Mythic Difficulty
Night-Touched CadaverOn Mythic Difficulty,

deals more damage and players can take one fewer stack of
龟裂创伤
before instantly dying.
This necessitates a tighter rotation involving more players in each soak group. Ideally the raid will have two groups to soak
顺劈斩
, consisting of 4-5 permanent members and one "triggering" member.
The soak groups should take 2 stacks of
龟裂创伤
before The Butcher gains
狂暴
, and 3 stacks thereafter.
Healers must focus on ensuring the group that is soaking the next
顺劈斩
is at or near full health, and on ensuring tanks stay alive, and provide minimal healing to players at range.
Raid CDs are useful for the final
狂暴
phase. Damage reduction CDs should be used so that they cover the third
顺劈斩
that each group must soak.
All players not assigned to tank or to soak
顺劈斩
should assist in splitting the
旋转跳劈
damage.
Paleobomb leaves behind Pale VitriolMythic difficulty also introduces a new mechanic: the
拜夜行尸
s.
These adds spawn from the opposite side of the room to the Butcher's current location, and will move slowly toward him.
The Cadavers cast
白鬼炸弹
upon reaching the Butcher or when intercepted by any player.
The explosion leaves behind a pool of
白鬼硫酸
, which will deal heavy periodic damage to players standing within it, and causes them to take additional damage from
顺劈斩
.
For the first minute of the encounter, there is only one stream of Cadavers, but each
旋转跳劈
adds another stream of Cadavers.
There is a position on a small sand deposit on the edge of the watery portion of the Butcher's encounter area where careful boss positioning will allow the raid to ignore all Night-Touched Cadavers; they simply run into the Butcher's side and detonate harmlessly. The
顺劈斩
-soaking groups must be very aware of the size of the Cadaver's
白鬼炸弹
/
白鬼硫酸
effects to ensure they are not stricken by them; any deaths amongst the
顺劈斩
-soakers almost certainly results in a wipe. Raids using this strategy typically pull Butcher into the edge of the water initially and have sturdy ranged DPS soak the first few Cadavers, then use the first
旋转跳劈
mechanic to move Butcher closer to the intended tanking position before moving him there.
Note that tanks may need to move forward slightly after each
旋转跳劈
to avoid being pulled forward into a puddle of
白鬼硫酸
by the Butcher's
肉钩
ability.

Some thoughts about the "right" size of the soaking groups

is split amongst the soaking group. So its total amount of damage done won't increase when more people take it.

details page states some max target numbers these do not seem to be totally correct or this max target numbers scale with the size of your raidgroup. As logs being shown on warcraftlogs show that max target cap increases to at least 11 targets in a 30man group on heroic
Healing thoughts
With
Paladins
being much more effective in singletarget healing right now and therefore ist best in keeping the high amounts of tank damage under control and should be assigned to mainly focus on your tanks.
Holy
priests
, Windweaver
monks
and of course our fellow Restoration
Druids
perform better in handling that constant damage coming from the bleed effect of
龟裂创伤
.
Healing as a Restoration
Shaman
mostly depends on the healing style the player is using and might also perform well in healing spiky damage from

as well as performing well in healing constant bleed effects from
龟裂创伤
Disciplin
Priests
can significantly lower the incoming damage from

but will perform weaker than the other healers in terms of keeping
龟裂创伤
under control
TL:DR
Based on your available healer setup and their gearing level it might be better to accept more total incoming damage from
龟裂创伤
by using a larger group of affected players than lowering the amount of damage taken by minimizing the amount of soaking raidmembers.
On the other hand you might have to use more dps players to kill
屠夫
before enrage timers are hit. In that case your goal will be to minimize the total amount of damage taken by using smaller groups of soaking players (maybe even with big personal CDs like greater invis or dispersion), whilst needing a healing style which is concentrating on quickly topping that people.

Here are the notes from our successful PUG kill:
Fight Overview:
We placed three markers on the field. One marker at the back of the field to designate the ranged DPS/caster position, and a marker placed on either side of Butcher, within his melee range. We placed the markers directly across from each other on each side of the Butcher, on the edge of Butcher’s red target reticle on the ground, roughly a yard behind the center-line. On our initial pull, we situated a group of four on the left side, and a group of three on the right of the Butcher (we had 14 players). The fight mechanics for Butcher were really simple. The Butcher will cast CLEAVE on the largest group in Melee range and apply Gushing Wounds to all players in that group. He does this even while facing the tanks. At 5 stacks of Gushing Wounds, players in that “largest clump of players in melee range group” would instantly die.
The Butcher applies that Gushing Wounds DOT in an oblique cone approximately 90-degrees wide in the direction of the largest clump. There's NO margin for error, and tanks must face Butcher and keep him directly perpendicular to the two melee clumps at all times or wipe.
Two Runners:
In the larger group on four on the left, we had a single runner. This is a caster DPS who is in constant communication with another caster DPS that is on the backfield ranged marker. The two runners focus each other so that they can track eachother’s stacks. On 3 stacks of Gushing Wounds, we had the runner in melee range announce on Vent: “3 stacks”. At this point, the runner on the ranged marker ran to the smaller stack on the right, evening the clumps of players out at 4 and 4 players. On arriving in position, the second runner called “I’m in.” On hearing this, the runner with 3 stacks (maybe 4 by then) runs out of melee range and stands on the backfield marker, continuing to DPS. At this point with the larger group now on the other side and holding ZERO stacks, Butcher begins to apply Gushing Wounds in that direction. The runner that was originally in the larger clump stands on the backfield ranged marker, and monitors the other runner’s stacks while he or she DPS's the boss. At 3 stacks, the runner that ran in, runs back out. To put it cleanly: The runners run in and out of their respective clump at three stacks. A runner on the left side will never end up on the right side - they just run back and forth from their clump to the backfield marker, swapping on 3 stacks.
Ranged DPS and BOUNDING CLEAVE:
Every minute, the Butcher does BOUNDING CLEAVE, and knocks everyone back - effectively disrupting the clumps of players in melee range near him. He then charges at the largest clump in the field. With our setup - this was the backfield marker with the ranged dps/casters on it. We had 5 DPS players there, including 2 healers to help AoE Hots the damage from the Gushing Wounds debuff that BOUNDING CLEAVE applies to that group. It’s a lot of bleed damage to deal with.
Factors for Success:
Butcher has a soft-enrage timer that triggers at 30% health. We HERO'd at 30% following his first BOUNDING CLEAVE. He starts to deal more damage and BOUNDING CLEAVE's every 30 seconds. We found it was best to situate 2 healers on the backfield marker in order to keep that group alive through multiple repeated hits from BOUNDING CLEAVE and the Gushing Wounds bleed damage it applies.
We also found the Butcher to be a DPS race against his hard enrage timer of 5 minutes. For this reason, we placed our two hunters on the backfield marker as well, to allow them to gain the +5% damage allowed by not moving. This translated to 600K hp off the bosses’ hit points, so it is not insignificant. We placed our strongest two healers overall in the two melee groups, and had each focus on a specific tank, and we had the tanks focus on optimizing their DPS output as well as mitigating. Tanks can often push their DPS numbers up by 1.5-2K just by working their rotations harder. 3K amounts to 900K HP over a 300 second fight, so the tank damage can actually be the deciding factor.
Fight Positioning:
We had 14 players (2 tanks, 4 healers and 8 DPS). On the backfield marker we had:
2 healers, 2 hunters, and 1 runner
On the left-side marker we had:
1 healer, 2 melee dps, and 1 caster/runner dps
On the right-side marker we had:
1 healer, 1 melee dps, and 1 caster
Tank: As tank I engaged with Heroic Leap, and thereafter Charge'd back into melee range following the Butcher’s knock back attack. Both of these actions were designed to ensure that the Butcher does not ever move from his initial starting position (between the melee clumps' markers). Note that when he BOUNDING CLEAVEs to the ranged clump, he returns right back to where he was being tanked. Tanks must stand ON TOP of each other or take double damage.
DPS in Melee Range: It’s super important for the clumped players to stack on each other and be 90-degrees away from the tanks at all times (e.g. in clump groups to always be looking directly at Butcher’s shoulder, and preferably be aligned a step behind him as you do so. When you get knocked back before BOUNDING CLEAVE, run back and stack on your marker.
Healers in Melee Range: You will be healing through Gushing Wounds, which is a flat bleed. That means that the healers in Melee Range need to understand that when their group has the “runner” in it, that they now have 4 to heal instead of 3. So a) they need to focus more on keeping their group of four alive, and b) the healer in the other Melee group needs to focus more on the tanks. This focus bounces back and forth as the runners move - this is why we had the runners verbally announcing as they hit three stacks and swapped.
DPS in Ranged: This is where your hunters should be. Focus on optimizing damage output. One of you needs to be prepared to step in if someone from the melee groups drop - because those clump sizes must remain fixed as the runners move in an out, or it disrupts the distribution of the Gushing Wounds stacks. Additionally, casters with Active Mitigation should pop it right before BOUNDING CLEAVE.
Healers in Ranged: You will need to heal through Gushing Wounds following BOUNDING CLEAVE - but the rest of the time you’ll will be supporting the melee-bound Healers in keeping the tanks alive. They will have their hands full with the constant Gushing Wounds bleed on their clumps.
Other Thoughts:
You need your DPS to be pulling 19K on this fight, and tanks pulling 12.5K. Before too long, people will be so geared that it won’t be a problem. Heroic Butcher will be _easy_ at iL660. However, for now - you’re looking for DPS’s in the iL643 range, minimum. Healer requirements are a little more forgiving at ~iL640.
