Notable Trash Mobs
Run away from Orb of DestructionSince Kormrok is directly accessible from the Hellfire Antechamber, he shares the Antechamber trash with several other bosses. This small room has several packs containing a few types of enemies.
Hellfire Antichamber

Players should prioritize Fel Touched Seers since these enemies heal their allies, and should be sure to interrupt

or use offensive dispels to remove it from enemies. The next highest-priority target should be the Shambling Hulk, then Fel Hellweavers, then Hellfire Guardians.
In the Hellfire Passage hallway, players will find all of the above mobs except the Shambling Hulk, and will additionally encounter

Iron Peons are fairly harmless, but will occasionally attack random players with

Pits of Mannoroth
The trash in the Pits of Mannoroth, Kormrok's room, is very challenging and highlights some of the abilities that will be used in the Kormrok encounter. There are five packs of enemies:
In the center of the room,

Since all of these trash mobs have difficult mechanics, players should be cautious and avoid pulling more than one pack at any time. It is best to wait for the patrolling Gronnstalker/Skullsmasher/Ambusher pack and pull them back to the entrance of the Pits of Mannoroth in order to kill them with little risk of pulling additional mobs. Next, pull the Togdrov pack in the center of the room, then Sovokk, then Morkronn, and finally the Fel Extractors near Kormrok.
Move away from Slag TrapsThe Gronnstalker/Skullsmasher/Ambusher pack uses the following abilities:
The Armored Skullsmasher will

the current tank, knocking him back and dealing heavy damage. He will then use

to rush to a distant enemy's location, dealing moderate damage to players at the end of the path. After returning to the tank, he will then use

, knocking back and injuring all players within 5 yards.
The Keen-Eyed Gronnstalker targets tanks with

The Grim Ambusher simply melees the tank, and will leap around occasionally.
Players should spread out to avoid excessive

so that the tank will always be the farthest-away target to charge to.
Togdrov, Sovokk, and Morkronn have similar ability sets. These enemies will deal heavy melee damage to the tank and will use two abilities:

is a simple raid-wide AoE that deals heavy damage;
攫取之手
s will target 3 players with a mechanic similar to the one used by Kormrok in the boss encounter.
Upon completing the cast, three small ripples in the ground will travel to three randomly-chosen players
When the ripples reach their destination, a large rune will form and a
攫取之手
will emerge immediately if there is still a player standing in that location
These Grasping Hands damage any trapped players with
重碾
, dealing moderate damage every three seconds for as long as the player is trapped.
A player trapped in this manner can still cast, but cannot move
Players must free trapped allies by killing the Grasping Hands quickly
If a targeted player moves to avoid the ground ripple, a large red rune will appear on the ground where that player had been standing when the

cast finished; any players walking into this rune will trigger a Grasping Hand to

Both Sovokk and Morkronn will target the tanks with additional abilities similar to those found in the Kormrok fight:
Sovokk, who stands in the Shadow Energy pool, will cast

on the current tank, just as Kormrok will when empowered by Shadow Energy

deals heavy damage and knocks the tank back a long distance; the tank will take additional

damage when landing

deals less damage the further the tank moves, so tanks should face Sovokk away from any nearby walls
The other tank should taunt Sovokk when

occurs
Morkronn, who stands in the Explosive Energy pool, will cast

on the current tank, similar to Kormrok's

mechanic when empowered by Explosive Energy
The affected tank is rooted in place and will explode after 10 seconds, dealing heavy fire damage to all raid members within 40 yards
The off-tank should taunt Morkronn when this occurs, and drag Morkronn away from the rooted tank
The rest of the raid should run away from the rooted tank until the explosion occurs
Spread out with Primal EnergiesAdditionally, Sovokk and Morkronn will both
搅动
the Runic Pools they are standing near, causing some of the energy to splash onto the ground and deal heavy damage to players who stand in the impact zone. Players should move away from the splash zone to avoid taking this damage.
Fel Extractors deal melee damage to tanks, and will periodically cast

Stack on Focused FireFiery Enkindlers deal melee damage to tanks, and will periodically cast

Players should avoid stepping into the Runic Pools, as they are likely to inflict fatal damage before the player can escape their effects.

Kormrok Encounter Mechanics
The Kormrok encounter is a primarily single-target fight punctuated by brief moments of high-priority AoE.
Kormrok has four main abilities (
重击

), three of which are associated with an energy type (Explosive Energy, Foul Energy, or Shadow Energy). There are three corresponding energy pools around the edge of his encounter area.
At the start of the encounter and approximately every 2 minutes thereafter, Kormrok will Leap to the nearest pool, and will empower the next two casts of the ability associated with that pool's energy type. Additionally, Kormrok will gain access to a new tank mechanic for the duration of the empowerment.
Players can choose which abilities they would like to have empowered next by controlling Kormrok's positioning
When Kormrok Leaps to a pool, the raid will take moderate damage from

is a simple raid-wide AoE that creates damaging shockwaves under every player's feet, dealing moderate Physical damage every second for five seconds. Kormrok will cast this ability frequently throughout the fight.
These shockwaves splash damage on to nearby players
The raid must maintain a 4-yard spread for the duration of

is not associated with any energy type and therefore does not have an empowered version
The danger of

- which deals only moderate damage when the raid is properly spread - is in its overlap with Kormrok's other abilities

Explosive Runes
Explosive Runes

creates five red runes on the ground that persist for 15 seconds or until triggered by a player stepping onto the rune.
If an

fades naturally without being triggered, the entire raid will take heavy Fire damage
If an

is triggered by a player, the Rune deals a smaller amount of damage in an 8-yard radius
Players should use personal damage-reduction cooldowns before triggering the
爆炸符文

Be sure not to detonate a Rune when other players are within range of its explosion
If Kormrok leaps to the Fiery Pool, he will gain the ability to cast
强化爆炸符文
.
These Runes do not disappear when triggered, but instead attempt to reform several yards in front of the player who triggered the Rune
These Runes only stop reforming if two Runes would form in the same location, or when it is the only Rune left to be triggered
Five of these
爆炸符文
s will spawn each time Kormrok uses this ability, in a roughly pentagonal formation
Players must act quickly, but in a controlled fashion, to force Runes into the center of the pentagon so that they will overlap and despawn
Since this is a somewhat delicate operation, raids should designate a team of several Rune "stompers" to handle this mechanic reliably
The ideal players for this would have damage reduction cooldowns and some capacity to continue performing their role while moving
While Kormrok is empowered by Explosive Energy, he will use
爆裂冲击
, rooting the current tank in place.
The affected tank will detonate 10 seconds later, dealing heavy Fire damage to all players within 30 yards
The off-tank should taunt Kormrok and move him away from the

radius to prevent players taking any damage

Grasping Hands

Instead, stack in small clumps of 4-5 players, each clump about 5 yards apart, and use damage-reduction cooldowns to mitigate the initial splash damage
This should allow AoE abilities to efficiently damage all the Hands
If Kormrok leaps to the Foul Pool, he will Empower this ability, transforming it to

will summon a hand to

each player, dealing an initial burst of splash damage and increasing Nature damage over time
These Hands will also move towards the nearest energy pool
If the Hands are not destroyed by the time they reach the energy pool, players will take extremely heavy damage from entering the pool

, players should stack up in small clumps before

is cast
The stack points should be far enough away from the pools to give players adequate time to damage the Hands before reaching the edge of a pool, but significantly closer to one pool so that the Hands all go in the same direction
Players are able to cast freely while the
牵引之手
s are moving
While Kormrok is empowered by Foul Energy, he gains
邪污碾压
, which summons a
粉碎之手
on the current tank.
This stuns and roots the tank in place, and deals ramping damage to the tank until the Crushing Hand is destroyed
Players should rapidly switch to the Crushing Hand to free their tank
The off-tank should taunt Kormrok as soon as the Crushing Hand has spawned
Once the Crushing Hand is destroyed, the affected tank gains
邪能之触
, and should not tank the boss again until
邪能之触
fades

Fel Outpouring
Fel Outpouring's Shadow GlobulesEmpowered Fel OutpouringKormrok's

ability causes the Shadowy Pool to overflow, sending

sweeping across the encounter area.
These globules move in an erratic pattern and deal heavy damage to any player that passes through them
The globules spread out the further away from the Shadowy Pool they get
The easiest place to dodge these globules is from the center of the room or somewhat nearer to the Fiery or Foul Pools
If Kormrok leaps to the Shadowy Pool, he will use
强化邪能暗流
instead.
This summons globules from all three of the Runic Pools around the edge of the room
All of the globules deal very heavy damage to players standing in them
This ability is very difficult to dodge and will require the raid to move for an extended period of time
The simplest way to dodge the
强化邪能暗流
is to stand nearer to one pool than the rest, move through the oncoming set of globules from that nearby pool as soon as there are gaps - to eliminate ever having to dodge that pool's globules again - and then move carefully to dodge the globules coming from the other two pools
While Kormrok is empowered by Shadow Energy, he will use
重击
against the current tank, dealing heavy damage and knocking the tank far away.
The tank will take damage again upon landing, due to
冲击力
Tanks should position Kormrok to avoid being knocked into any of the energy pools on the side of the room and should not put their backs to a wall for this ability
Aiming the
重击
toward the entrance to the encounter area is the safest way of reducing tank damage
After being affected by
重击
, that tank gains
邪能之触
, and should not tank the boss again until
邪能之触
fades
In some cases, Kormrok will
激怒
, gaining 30% additional Haste (which increases tank melee damage). He will also begin to use his abilities more frequently. This seems to occur before leaping to a pool, and may be related to the health Kormrok is at when he leaps, but it is not clear at what percentage the
激怒
will be triggered.

Kormrok's health matters since the

It is slightly better to use the ring buff to empower your AoE damage on the Hands, and then for the explosion to detonate onto Kormrok
This has the effect of translating your raid's efficient AoE into powerful single-target DPS
Healers should use the legendary ring to assist with healing whenever
重击
and
攫取之手
/
牵引之手
overlap, timing the effect so that the absorption shield will protect against whichever mechanic occurs second.
Tanks should use the legendary ring to help mitigate
重击

mechanics, particularly during the

where Kormrok's melee damage becomes more frequent.

Looking For Raid Difficulty
The Looking For Raid version of the Kormrok encounter is significantly simpler than the Normal/Heroic encounter.
During each Leap phase, Kormrok will use only two abilities:
重击
and the non-empowered ability associated with that pool.
For example, if Kormrok leaps to the Foul Pool and gains
邪污能量
, he will use
攫取之手
three times
He does not gain any of the tank debuff mechanics, and will not cast other pools' ability outside of being imbued with its energy buff
After using the third charge of the
邪污能量
ability, he will leap to the next nearest pool and gain a new ability
Kormrok switches abilities approximately every 90 seconds in LFR.
During
爆炸能量
, players should spread out and use a personal damage-reduction CD to trigger the
爆炸符文
s.
During

, players should clump loosely behind the boss for

, and quickly kill the

with AoE damage to free all allies

The trickiest part to heal is the second
攫取之手
of the

phase, because

occurs ten seconds after

are spawned. This can deal heavy raid damage, and healers should save strong throughput or damage-reduction cooldowns for this part of the fight.

Heroic Difficulty

Mythic Difficulty
Stand in swirls to soak Fiery ResidueFiery Residue covers the platform except for where players were standing
On Mythic difficulty, there is one additional mechanic: each time Kormrok leaps into a pool, the resulting Splash creates a corresponding

. This Residue will persist on the ground until Kormrok is about to leap to the next pool. The only parts of the platform that will remain free of Residue are those areas where players are standing at the time the Splash occurs.
The Residue deals moderate damage to players standing within it, but this can prove to be dangerous or fatal when players are also dealing with another mechanic, particularly

Each time Kormrok leaps to a new pool, players should spread out in the middle of the room to ensure there is a large clear area in which to handle the mechanics.
Additionally, Kormrok's

buffs now empower the next
four
casts of his associated abilities, rather than the next two casts.
Kormrok uses an empowered ability
twice
during the 2 minutes after first gaining access to it, and then once in each subsequent Leap "phase"
This means that, once the raid has reached the third Leap phase, all abilities will be empowered for the rest of the encounter
The order of abilities may differ slightly from what is listed earlier in this guide, since some empowered abilities have longer cooldowns

should still be the third empowerment the raid grants Kormrok, so that you have at least two phases without having to deal with

Note that Kormrok uses his abilities more frequently in Mythic difficulty than he does in Normal/Heroic. When he enters the

portion of the fight, the frequency of his ability use will increase again.

Videos from PTR testing of Normal mode Kormrok show that players are able to bounce Kormrok between two pools, ignoring the third pool entirely. However,
I believe this is a bug and doubt the encounter will go live with this behaviour
. So I'm not updating the guide to reflect this strategy until I see the fight when it goes live. :)

6/26 - Made several changes to the guide:
Tanks are now affected by Grasping/Dragging Hands, and the guide now reflects that
Added some information about the Enrage mechanic - specifically that it's still not clear what causes it, but I
think
it may be related to trying, and failing because it's not possible, to get Kormrok to bounce between two pools and ignore the third. More SCIENCE is needed.
Added a Heroic section, as the buff Kormrok gains from leaping into a pool empowers the next

Updated the graphic for Mythic residue soaking to reflect changes to the encounter in the final PTR test

It is incredibly frustrating when you have raid members trying to help with the empowered runes but who don't seem to fully realize the whole "facing" aspect of it and knock the runes *away* instead of *together* :T
We did it earlier tonight and I found that hunters can handle the rune stomping exceptionally well; you should be able to move a rune twice with a single well-timed deterrence without taking any damage.

this boss fight can get frustrating at times
we use hunters for the runes but a dk with anti magic shel can do a decent job
we tried bouncing kormok but it seems impossible
Runes and dragging hands are the bottleneck of this fight in our opinion

One minor tweak, Dayani - I'd recommend linking this
tooltip for Explosive Rune
, at least in the intro section, to support the text for why we're stepping on these explodey things. The Rune tooltip you have linked mentions the personal damage but not the raidwide damage.
