Necrolord Demonology Warlock Covenant Abilities
Necrolord Demonology Warlock Class Ability:
The Necrolord Class Ability for Demonology Warlocks of all specializations is
: a 45s cooldown that increases the damage of your next 3
by 100%, with an increasing damage amplifier the lower the health of the mob that it hits.
The core of this ability is to supercharge your
, providing you with additional damage on demand since you can typically store charges of Demonic Cores and the ability to use this as an easy boost to target swapping where previously we had not much to offer in terms of snap damage.
Necrolord Demonology Warlock Signature Ability:
looks appealing at first: hit it, get a shield that goes up to 50% of your max HP.
To start, the biggest problem you will notice is that it is an
interruptible
4 second channel that, unless you pick Emeni for
, roots you in place and prevents you from doing anything else. Additionally due to the relative size of it, in content where you would need it, it typically gets eaten in one hit.
Legendary Interactions for Necrolord Demonology Warlocks
No legendary modifies either of these abilities.
Necrolord Demonology Warlock Soulbinds
Across all classes and specs, Necrolords have access to the same three soulbinds:
Plague Deviser Marileth
,
Emeni
and
Bonesmith Heirmir
. They are the NPCs with whom you complete the zone story, and they allow you to "attune" yourself to them to gain access to a tree of upgrades centered around your base toolkit (through Conduits) and Covenant abilities (through special game-wide traits).
These trees progressively unlock based on completion steps (such as finishing the campaign) and your Renown level with the Necrolord Covenant.
We've summarized the optimal traits for each soulbind below, along with potential conduits to slot in, below. Do bear in mind that Endurance conduit choice will largely depend on which encounter you will be progressing, as their value changes dramatically based on the requirements they enforce.
Plague deviser Marileth grants you three useful traits:
empowers your
by granting an additional buff based on the type of corpse you used it near. 120 mastery for humanoids, 2% primary stats for beasts, 5% stamina for demons, and a 5% heal for undeads
With
, every 30s, you have the option to gain a 15% absorb shield
Finally, the capstone trait,
, causes you to gain 8% max HP in total over the duration of the channel. If you manage to finish the channel, you gain CC immunity for 4 seconds, and regenerate another 8% max HP over 4 seconds
These benefits strongly incentivize the use of
after defeating a pack, and generally, as much as possible out of combat. The CC immunity is largely a dud, as very few abilities target the tanks with CC; the rest is a decent amount of benefit assuming you manage to spend 4 seconds doing nothing every 2 minutes.
An example tree to follow on this soulbind is as follows:
Emeni provides a couple of interesting nodes:
, the initial trait in the tree, functions as group utility. Up to 4 party members are granted 2% primary stat, and you gain up to 13% primary stat yourself. Primary stat is great and the impact on your allies is quite nice.
allows you to gain a small amount of extra HP when casting
. However, it gives access to a Potency conduit, which means we'll most likely be skipping it for now.
provides stacking haste when defeating mobs. Useful in M+, less so in raids
An example tree can be seen below. The obvious downside of this tree below is that to gain access to the best final trait, you lose out on your second Potency conduit, which is not recommended.
This is the "late stage" soulbind, in that the real strength of the soulbind is
. As such, expect him to become a pick later on in the tier.
Picking Bonesmith Heirmir grants access to the following notable traits:
gives you passively 3% primary stat as long as you have 3 items enchanted, which you should always have.
providing you with a movement speed bonus. It is not amazing, but will be the final ability you need to retain two Potency conduits.
is by far the better option in terms of final abilities; however, losing the second Potency conduit doesn't make it worthwhile.
Best Necrolord Demonology Warlock Early Soulbind
Early on in Nathria, assuming you picked Necrolord, you will likely want
Plague Deviser Marileth
simply due to the fact that you gain early access to a Potency conduit while offering a route to your final ability that offers somewhat more than the others. Emeni is also not a terrible option to go with as you get the same early Potency conduit and the final ability,
is definitely more useful than
.
Necrolord Demonology Warlock Covenant Rotation Changes
As usual, this page only highlights the specific use case of the class and signature abilities. To see how they fit within the context of the entire spec, we encourage you to check the other pages in the guide related to the context you are looking for.
Decimating Bolt will fit into different priorities depending on the spec and legendary you choose to play with. Typically you will be able to use this ability on cooldown under priority of your longer cooldowns.
Fleshcraft should realistically only be used out of combat and prior to a pull.
Necrolord Demonology Warlock Talent Builds
Typically speaking there will be one or two different talent builds you can use with the most efficiency while playing as Necrolord:
This build focuses on maximizing your
damage in all ways, making it your primary source of damage. It is quite strong single target and allows you to have some strong target swapping; however, it does rely on having some or all of the applicable buffs/debuffs running.
Your typical Demonology build will still benefit from
, but the focus won't be solely around the damage of
.
Necrolord Demonology Warlock Gearing Differences
Demonology Warlocks still prefer raw item level upgrades over specific secondary stats.
As usual, we encourage you to sim yourself for the best possible results.

Grimoire:Felguard and Demonic Tyrant should have same cooldown,so perhaps increase Tyrant's cd to 2mins and increase it's time spent on field by 5-10secs,it would be very significant to demonology warlock.
