Welcome to the
法师
class quests guide for Classic WoW, which will detail quests with notable rewards for the class. There are many Mage quests with incidental rewards, so this guide is going to focus on the two main quest chains. One rewards a choice of powerful leveling wands like
冰怒魔杖
and the other unlocks
which changes your

to a pig instead of a sheep.

Mage's Wand Quest (Level 30-40)
At level 30 you have the choice to start the quest chain
for your
冰怒魔杖
,
虚空灵力魔杖
or
怒火魔杖
. This quest chain can be slightly tricky as you can pick it up at level 30 but it may require you to bring a friend or get a few more levels to complete it but the rewards and exp it provides makes it definitely worth completing as you level. These wands will provide quite an increase to how fast you will kill mobs in the world so the extra time spent on this quest chain will end up evening out in your favor.
For both Horde and Alliance you will receive your first quest of this chain

from your

. This quest will send you to

in
尘泥沼泽
. She will have the quest

. This quest is one of those ones where you may think to yourself "how did they figure this out?" as the quest text barely gives you a hint on how to do it. You will actually be looking for a chicken called

. This NPC is easy to miss as it is small and dull grey color, you will find him at 79, 75. When you have located
勇敢的强生
, target him and type /beckon. This will turn him into a human temporarily allowing you to talk to him to complete that part of the quest.

The next quest

and will send you to

. This is a dungeon with 4 parts, for this quest you only need to do one which is the Library wing. It could be of interest to you to also do the

quest while you are here to get your

off hand if you are level 35+ as well as all the other quests these dungeons have to offer. Quissy has a well-presented guide for

that covers all 4 wings as well as where to get all of the quests here. I would highly recommend reading through just to see if you missed any quests potentially giving good gear or exp for you.
Venture into the Scarlet Monastery Library and you will find the
能量仪祭
. It is a large book jutting out the wall to the left once you walk into the Athenaeum. It is well before you reach

so keep your eyes peeled as you enter the Athenaeum. If you miss it just run back through and search after your group has finished the dungeon.
Once you have the
能量仪祭
go back to
塔贝萨
in
尘泥沼泽
. Hand in the quest and pick up the next part

which sends you to

. Head there but on your way visit an auction house and buy a
翡翠
as it is also an item required to complete the quest. Once in
阿拉希高地
head to the bottom right of the map or southeast. You will find Witherbark Trolls, any of these Trolls will drop the

which you need 10 of to create a
电能草莓
for the quest. When you have 10 you will need to go to the Circle of Outer Binding northwest of the trolls to transform the items.

and she will complete your quest. Offering you a final quest for a reward of one of three wands :

. They all have the same DPS but different effects increasing damage done by one of the 3 mage spell trees. The choice is up to you but generally, the
冰怒魔杖
is considered the best as Frost is the most popular leveling spec. Congratulations!
Polymorph: Pig for Horde and Alliance (Level 60)
To begin the quest for your
, head to

. Make your way to

by speaking to

, he will teleport you up to where
大法师克希雷姆
resides. Xylem will give you the quest
军阀克雷利安
which requires you to retrieve

from

You will find

in the Ruins of Eldarath inside the biggest building in the center.
Warlord Krellian's location
Warlord Krellian
Once you have

return to

and hand in your quest. He will give you the next part which is

. This quest will have you slay

which is actually the Spitelash mobs surrounding
军阀克雷利安
's location. To do this quest right, go back to Ruins of Eldarath with

in your bags and use

on any of the Spitelash Naga around the area. A few seconds after casting it, they should turn into a level 3-6 sheep with around 150hp that you can easily 1 shot. Do this 50 times until you have completed

then return to

once more to be rewarded with

Arcane Refreshment (Conjure Water Rank 7)
With release of

Mages gain access to a quest which unlocks a higher rank of Conjure Water
providing

. This is quite a simple quest that you can pick up from inside the
厄运之槌
Library from

.
You can access the library from either the West or Northern wing of
厄运之槌
but you will need a
月牙钥匙
to get to it from the Northern wing. Once you arrive in the Library speak with
博学者莱德罗斯
, he will give you
which requires you to bring him a

which drops from
海多斯博恩
in
厄运之槌
East.
Head to the dungeon
厄运之槌
East. You will chase the Imp
普希林
around the dungeon until he stops and turns into an enemy mob. Run back up the hall way you chased him through and into a room full of Satyrs. Clear your way through this room and run down the spiral ramp to the left. At the bottom of this spiral you will you will find
海多斯博恩
in a pool of water, kill it and loot the
海多斯博恩精华
.
Once you have the item head back to the Library and hand in the quest to
博学者莱德罗斯
. You will be rewarded with
which is the highest Rank of conjure water Mages have access to. Congratulations!
Skippable Mage Quests
法师
is lucky in the fact that none of their spells while leveling are locked behind quests. In fact, you can skip quite a lot of
法师
quests as they cost quite some time and reward very sub par items like
苍穹手杖
or
苍穹宝珠
. These items are very weak for their level and as you can see there are items such as
祖穆拉恩的能量法杖

洛瑞卡宝珠
or
预言藤杖
which have much better stats and are more easily obtainable through dungeons or dungeon quests that require less time, effort or level requirement.

There is also a quest that teaches you how to conjure level 55 water (introduced in patch 1.6 I think?), requiring you to go to the library in Dire Maul and speaking to Lorekeeper Lydros. He will ask you to kill the boss Hydrospawn (I think he is found in the east side?) and loot the Hydrospawn essence. Hydrospawn its pretty close to the entrance, and I remember that a group of three (tank and two dps, or tank, healer and you) can kill him easily in blues. Upon returning he will teach you free of charge Conjure Water (Rank 7).
Quest its available only at level 60, and casting that new Conjure Water will produce four units (IIRC, I remember sometime later it produced ten, but cant remember if it was in patch 2.0 or before).

You're a fool if you think either of those offhands is even comparable to celestial orb. Primary stats are garbage for mages. Int gives a pitiful amount of mana and spirit is useless in the context of evocate. The only argument worth mentioning is that it can be difficult to get. However, it will only be replaced as you gear up for BiS, making it a worthwhile investment to use in conjunction with hypnotic blade.
