Kyrian Guardian Druid Covenant Abilities
Kyrian Druid Class Ability:
The Kyrian Class Ability for Druids of all specializations is
: a 1 minute cooldown where you bond with an ally, and the effect is different based on whether you are tethered with a DPS, a Healer, or a Tank.
If you tether to a DPS you grant them a 40% damage redirect to you for 10 seconds and you collect 20% of the damage they deal into a pool
. You drain from this pool to empower your damage, healing and your absorption by 15% for up to 20 seconds after activation this ability or until you have used up the entire pooled amount. The absorb aspect of this means that all hits against you for this time will get reduced by 15% very similar to
.
If you tether to a Healer you grant them a 40% damage redirect to you for 10 seconds and gain 30% of all their healing replicated to you for the duration.
If you tether to a Tank, you redirect 40% of the damage you take to them for 10 seconds.
If you tether to yourself you gain 10% damage reduction for 10 seconds.
This is an extremely powerful Covenant with multiple utility uses. In a raid situation the tether to another tank or a healer who is using big healing cooldowns will make this our most powerful defensive Covenant as guardian druids.
An extra 40% mini shield wall on only a 1 minute cooldown or an enormous amount of bonus healing incoming from a healer fits extremely well into our toolkit and allows us to rotate our defensive cooldowns more easily and more often.
Tethering to a DPS also provides quite a decent DPS boost and this Covenant is not very far behind other pure DPS choices from a damage output perspective.
is the Kyrian specific conduit. It reduces the cooldown of
by 10% at rank 1 and is quite strong overall, however we may lose mastery due to
being on a 1 minute internal cooldown and
going below 1 minute with this conduit.
The main weakness of the tether is solo content, the lone empowerment when we are by ourselves is quite bad, only a 10% damage reduction often makes it feel like you may as well not even have a Covenant choice while being alone. Luckily most content is in a group and the more players to choose from in your group the better this gets.
Overall quite a powerful defensive Covenant choice with some significant increased damage and healing potential.
Kyrian Signature Ability:
has quite a few little features he can provide but the main one is
, a bonus healthstone/healing potion type item that heals 20% of your health and removes all diseases, poisons, curses, and bleeds affecting you.
This can be incredibly strong for certain raid encounters and will definitely be strong for most mythic+ dungeons as they almost all have some significant debuff that can be cleansed by this.
Legendary Interactions for Kyrian Guardian Druids
Kyrian doesn't have any large synergies with any of the guardian Legendaries, however it is generally best paired with
which is our best defensive Legendary overall, and tethering to the co-tank in raid for our 40% damage reduction.
This leads us to having many short cooldown powerful defensives that we can comfortably cycle through.
Kyrian Guardian Druid Soulbinds
Kyrian's have access to three Soulbinds:
Pelagos
,
Kleia
and
Forgelite Prime Mikanikos
. These are the NPCs you complete the zone story with, and allow you to bind yourself to them to gain access to a tree of upgrades centered around your toolkit, via Conduits and Covenant abilities.
This tree progressively unlocks based on completion steps (such as finishing the campaign) and your renown level with the Kyrian covenant.
Below is some optimal pathing and traits for each Soulbind, along with potential changes further down the line in Renown levels.
Pelagos grants you two impactful traits:
Activating your Kyrian class ability increases your mastery for 10 seconds and occasionally expels Sorrowful Memories. Walking through Sorrowful Memories extends the mastery buff by 3 seconds, 1 minute internal cooldown.
Using a spell or ability reduces your magic damage taken by 1% for 6 seconds. Using another spell or ability increases this amount by 1% when it is not a repeat of the previous spell or ability, stacking to 3%.
- One thing to note about this is that if we take the Kyrian specific conduit,
, it will make our tether lower cooldown than the 1 minute internal cooldown, which will make us lose mastery overall, however generally the power of the shorter tether is greater than the mastery provided.
- Just reduces your magic damage taken, quite nice for tanks.
An example tree to follow on this Soulbind is as follows:
When Castle Nathria opens, you will have the bulk of this tree unlocked already and eventually:
Two potency conduit slots
A large mastery increase every minute.
Two endurance conduit slots, both of which will provide significant defensive benefits.
A small magic damage reduction with 100% uptime.
We may choose to change the first potency conduit for a finesse conduit later on in the renown levels if we no longer need the reduced cooldown of the tether.
Kleia provides some good nodes:
Some free bonus healing that may save lives.
5% increased max hp above 90%, generally won't see much use as we are tanks and often below 90% but a small perk nonetheless.
After 5 seconds out of combat, gain a shield for 10% of your maximum health, great for pre-pull and heading into the next pack.
Another hugely powerful node, 5% crit should be almost permanent in both raid and m+.
An example tree can be seen below. As usual we are making sure to hit an early potency node for
, in this tree however we are forced to take an early finesse slot, delaying our initial endurance node, but the reduced cooldown on Heart of the Wild can be quite valuable.
Kleia requires quite a high Renown level to gain full potential, however the early tree has some very strong value if we can reach the first endurance conduit at a reasonable time in Castle Nathria progression.
may have some decent value but unfortunately it is following a second finesse conduit slot which does not feel great to take.
Picking Forgelite Prime Mikanikos grants access to a few interesting traits:
Bron has pretty decent damage/healing output and is summoned fairly often.
Automatically consumes a charge of Phial of Serenity when reduced below 35% health, this can be good or bad depending on whether you actually wanted to use a charge or not.
May have the potential to be a bit cheesy and gain 20% damage reduction for some significant events but more often than not will have very little use.
Provides quite a decent amount of haste but loses a lot of value in a raid environment, much better in mythic+.
This is quite a decent tree for us, 1 potency 1 finesse and 2 endurance gives us everything we need, with some bonus haste and a cool Bron proc on top.
Best Kyrian Guardian Druid Early Soulbind
Early on in Nathria, assuming you picked Kyrian, you will likely want
Pelagos
due to the very early unlock of both 1 potency for
and 1 endurance slot for
along with a powerful early perk,
.
With all of this good stuff only requiring Renown level 9 this will be a very powerful early Soulbind.
The end of the tree also leads into our 2nd potency and 2nd endurance slot and rounds up a fantastic tree overall for us with some nice reduced magic damage taken with
.
Kleia
is a fantastic alternative choice as she provides strong bonuses early on in her tree and also has good node pathing for us.
Best Kyrian Guardian Druid Soulbind for High Renown
Further on down the track, as our Renown level nears the max, we may want to slightly alter our soulbind pathing to make the most of the kyrian tree.
Kyrian doesn't change too much as pelagos is forever powerful and only gets better the more renown you gain.
gets significantly better the higher item level you can get, it is definitely the best scaling endurance conduit we have available to us so as item level of these conduits increase, that is something to keep in mind.
This soulbind build requires Renown 30 to unlock it's full potential but it is strong all the way up and does not require much change from earlier soulbind builds.
Kyrian Guardian Druid Covenant Rotation Changes
This page only highlights the specific use case of the class and signature abilities. To see how they fit within the context of the entire spec, we encourage you to view other pages in the guide related to the context you are looking for:
Guardian Druid Rotation Guide
Offensively - Kindred Spirits tether should ideally be off cooldown on a the highest DPS player who is using their offensive cooldowns.
Defensively - Kindred Spirits tether should be used on the other tank if it is safe for them before taking a large amount of damage, or alternatively if not safe for the other tank, use it on a healer who is using their raid healing cooldowns.
The Phial from the steward should just be used as a healthstone/health potion unless there is specific debuffs to cleanse.
Kyrian Guardian Druid Talent Builds
Your talent build should not change at all if you are Kyrian.
Guardian Druid Talents
Kyrian Guardian Druid Gearing Differences
Your gearing preference and stat preference remains the same with Kyrian. You will be prioritizing gear with the highest item level and then Versatility > Haste > Mastery > Crit, defensively. For offense, you will have to sim yourself for optimal stat priority.
