Hello! My name is Tarlo and I am the writer for the Beast Mastery Hunter guide here on Wowhead. I have mained Hunter since the Burning Crusade and currently do high-Level Mythic raiding. I also sometimes dabble in Mythic+. You can find me as a moderator in the

Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunter Covenant Abilities
Kyrian Hunter Class Ability:
is the Kyrian Covenant Hunter Class Ability. It is a powerful 1-minute cooldown, allowing you to fire an arrow at an area that does some damage and gives 30% crit chance to all enemies hit by the Resonating Arrow. Additionally, you can ignore line of sight on the enemies hit for the 10 second duration of the debuff.
Kyrian is a solid, well-rounded covenant. It is not the best covenant in any form of content, but it's well versed and performs well in both single target and in AoE. Beast Mastery Hunters love Critical Strike, so naturally
is a fairly strong covenant ability. Unlike our Marksmanship and Survival counterparts, Beast Mastery doesn't have much burst to fit into Resonating Arrow's short duration. However, we do have
which synergizes extremely well with the extra Critical Strike Resonating Arrow gives us, especially when paired with
. Resonating Arrow's short cooldown, paired with Bestial Wrath's short cooldown gives Beast Mastery fairly consistent damage over the course of an encounter. Resonating Arrow is also the only, fully uncapped covenant ability.
Kyrian Conduit for
is the Kyrian-specific Conduit for Hunters that buffs
. This is part of the reason that Resonating Arrow is so potent, and is one of the best Conduit options if you are Kyrian. The damage amplification from the Conduit scales nicely, and you can expect an ~11% damage buff from a rank 6 or 7 version of the Conduit while Resonating Arrow is active.
Beast Mastery Hunter Conduit Guide
Kyrian Signature Ability:
provides
, which is a potion that can be used to clear some debuffs and heal you slightly. Specifically, the Phials act as a separate health potion, but it also removes most poisons, diseases, curses, and bleeds when used in addition to healing for 20% of your max health.
This is the strongest defensive ability out of any Covenant, especially for dungeons. Frequently going in and out of combat in dungeons means you get frequent resets on the Phials, which means you can use them regularly. Most importantly though, there are several poisons, bleeds, and other debuffs in dungeons where being able to clear them on demand is invaluable. This is not quite as useful inside the raid since you don't get these resets, but it still is just another on demand heal and a great defensive tool.
The steward does have a few additional dialogue options when you talk to him, but they are all just flavor options that are super minor benefits at best, such as letting you change talents.
Kyrian Exclusive Legendary for Hunters
NEW Kyrian Legendary
:
gives you and your party 10% increased crit chance for 10 seconds.
The Kyrian exclusive legendary is
, available through
.
gives us access to a raid buff that allows ourselves and other party members to gain 10% Critical Strike every time our
is used. The 10% Critical Strike gain is additive to the 30% Critical Strike buff we apply to enemies and stacks with other users.
It's the most underwhelming covenant legendary, but it's the only covenant that gives us a "raid buff". Ultimately you'll have to determine whether it's useful for you based on the encounter as well as which classes/specs are in party with you. It's significantly less useful in Mythic+ considering you'll always have a Tank and a Healer in your party for dungeon content. The net gain for a tank and a healer will generally be less than that of a DPS, devaluing the legendary. It generally benefits specs that have 1 min cooldowns such as Windwalker Monks or Retribution Palidans the most.
Other Legendary Interactions for Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunters
Kyrian Hunters synergize well with both
and
.
increases the damage contribution from both legendaries as they both typically line up every minute, paired with
.

Best Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunter Soulbinds
Best Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunter Renown 80 Soulbind
We'll primarily be using Mikanikos at max Renown. Mikanikos has traits such as
and
which are big bonuses to single target damage. We also get a reduced Resonating Arrow cooldown through Effusive Anima Accelerator. In AoE content such as Mythic+, we'll swap to
. We'll want to use
,
for conduits, with
in AoE scenarios and
in single-target.
Conduits are socketed in order of highest priority from top to bottom in order to facilitate the greatest benefit when empowering conduit rows from renown. Please see our Beast Mastery Hunter Conduit Guide for more information on Conduits including Empowered Conduits.

Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunter Covenant Rotation Changes
There aren't any major changes for Kyrians. The biggest thing to remember though is that
is a 1-minute cooldown.
is essentially a 30-sec cooldown if played correctly. Bestial Wrath should be synced with Resonating Arrow every minute. Other than that, there are no special rotational changes.
For more information on the Beast Mastery Hunter rotation, check out the guide linked below.
Beast Mastery Hunter Rotation Guide
This is effectively an extra health potion, but its usage depends on the content you are doing. Most of the time its use is simply as a second health potion, but for fights with relevant debuffs you might want to be saving it for those.
Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunter Talent Builds
Kyrian generally wants to use the same talent build as other covenants. It is advised to sim yourself to determine which talent you should be running.

Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunter Gearing Differences
There are two key gearing differences when running Kyrian. Beast Mastery generally loves Critical Strike. However, since
gives us so much Critical Strike, Kyrian BM Hunters will start to stray away from gearing Critical Strike. We'll start to see trends towards more Haste, Versatility and even Mastery, rather than Critical Strike. However, this doesn't mean that Critical Strike is bad by any means as BM will always love crit.
Another thing to consider for Kyrian is Trinkets. Since the Critical Strike and damage boost from
is applied to the target, ALL damage instances benefit. In terms of gearing, trinkets which deal direct damage will be worth more as a Kyrian relative to other covenants.
As always, it's recommended to sim yourself on
Raidbots
to find the most optimal build.
Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunter Soulbinds Explained
Kyrians have access, across all classes and specs, to the same three Soulbinds:
Pelagos
,
Kleia
, and
Forgelite Prime Mikanikos
. They are the NPCs you complete the zone story with and allow you to "attune" yourself to them to gain access to a tree of upgrades centered around your base toolkit (through Conduits) and covenant abilities (through special, game-wide traits).
The tree progressively unlocks based on completion steps (such as finishing the campaign) and your Renown level with the Kyrian covenant. I've summarized the optimal traits for each Soulbind below, along with potential conduits to slot in.
Pelagos gives you 3 major DPS trait:
gives you a large amount of Mastery while Resonating Arrow is active. During Combat Meditation, up to 3 "Sorrowful Memories" (little blue balls) will fall around you. Picking one up extends the Mastery buff by an additional 3 seconds, potentially increasing its benefit up to ~20 sec. Beast Mastery Hunters should have no issue picking up the balls.
is a simple Mastery buff for you and another ally. Just a passive buff for us.
spawns a Doubt while in combat. It will manifest for a short period of time. Turning your character to face it will give a 12% Agility boost and 12% Stamina boost for 15 sec. It procs about once a minute on average but it's completely RNG so be sure to be on the lookout for it. It can be rather hard to see, especially in raid.
In addition to the above traits, Pelagos gives us access to
three
potency slots. This allows us to equip
and
,with
in AoE scenarios and
in single-target.
In addition to two potency conduits, Pelagos gives us access to three Endurance conduits. As a Hunter, having both
and
is huge in terms of survivability.
can be quite nice against rot damage. Finally, there are a few traits in the Pelagos tree which help us defensively.
is just a passive buff to our Magic Resistance. Casting two unique abilities in a row stacks the magic resistance up to 3%. Rotationally, this encourages you to avoid casting two of the same ability in a row. It is
not
worth playing around this trait, although BM Hunter shouldn't have any issue maintaining it without a change in gameplay.
lowers the cooldown of your
by a second each time you kill an enemy. This isn't very big in raids, but it can add up in open-world content or dungeons.
An example tree to follow on this Soulbind is as follows:
Kleia gives you 3 possible DPS traits:
grants you Critical Strike for every nearby ally, up to a maximum of 5%. This trait alone is pretty good for BM Hunters since we love Crit. The bonus is fairly easy to maintain fully in a raid environment, but in any other form of content, it will be rare that you'll maintain max stacks.
causes your
to grant Critical Strike per stack. When it's consumed, gain 5% Critical Strike for 12 sec. This gives us a nice chunk of passive Critical Strike. The downside to this is that the strength of it oscillates randomly and depends on Valiant Strikes, which are explained below.
gives you 3% Critical Strike after damaging an enemy above 90% health. Not a very useful trait for raid, but extremely good in Mythic+ where you'll constantly be encountering new enemies.
As you maybe have noticed, Kleia loves her Critical Strike bonuses. Critical Strike is quite nice for BM in general, but since Kyrian's have
, too much can actually be a negative thing as we hit diminishing returns. Kleia only gives us two potency slots. A third slot is available, but we must give up
to obtain it. Once we hit renown 42, we'll be able to equip
and
,with
in AoE scenarios and
in single-target.
Kleia falls short on the DPS front, but she excels on the survivability front. Kleia gives us access to up to 3 Endurance conduits. As a Hunter, this means we'll go for both
,
, and
if we opt for
. Additionally, Kleia gives us some more defensive traits to help us as well as our allies.
is super useful for party/raid healing. We'll be critting quite often so we can do some serious healing here.
gives a passive maximum health increase. Not an amazing trait, but it can be fairly useful.
is much more useful in Mythic+, but a 10% maximum health shield is always welcome.
An example tree to follow on this Soulbind is as follows:
Forgelite Prime Mikanikos gives us 4 possible DPS traits:
summons Bron to deal a fair bit of damage and knocks enemies back for a period of time. This ability is ok for BM, but Bron itself currently does less damage due to a bug with
. Animal Companion reduces all pet damage by 35%, including summoned pets like Bron.
provides us with Haste when damaging new enemies. While it's possible during Raid, we typically won't have enough new enemies (with the exception of a few fights) for this trait to be worth it. It becomes better in Mythic+. BM loves Haste so we'll want to use this trait in AoE content.
applies a debuff to a single target, increasing our damage dealt against that target by 1% up to 5%. The debuff will slowly ramp over 15 sec and continue to oscillate once finished. This is a decent and straightforward trait.
does a large amount of damage to enemies hit by our
. Hitting multiple enemies reduces the cooldown of Resonating Arrow by up to 20 sec. We generally want to sync
with Resonating Arrow, so this may desync them depending on the encounter. Typically this is very good for M+ and helps line things up for every new pack.
Forgelite Prime Mikanikos is a pretty diverse tree for us now. For single target, we'll opt to take 3 potency slots and forgo taking
unless there are multiple add spawns in the encounter. This means we'll want to equip
,
and
. In AoE, such as Mythic+, we'll swap over to using Hammer of Genesis and drop
.
The major downside for Mikanikos is his lack of defensive utility. Unlike Pelagos and Kleia, we only get two endurance conduits by taking his optimal route. We'll want to take
and
. Bron also gives us some minor healing when he spawns via
. Other than that, Mikanikos gives us some cool utility traits such as
and
.
is a really nice passive defensive that will automatically activate when falling to low health. It can however, be a negative in certain instances as it can proc when you don't really want it to. It'll still consume a charge of
and put it on cooldown.
An example tree to follow on this Soulbind is as follows:
Double Legendaries for Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunter
Patch 9.2 adds the option of using two legendaries at the same time, with the restriction that one of them is your Covenant legendary. This change empowers Kyrian Beast Mastery Hunter even more. You can learn more about it in our Legendary Guide.

How does one misspell Beast so many times and not even notice?

so is Soulforge really better than Rylakstalker? I've just swapped them when 9.1 hit (from sf to stalker) and it feels so much better to play and execute. sometimes sf makro did not work properly (first flare then trap - even when both spells are up) so I had to manually use one by one to reset the makro so it worked fine again.
With stalker its really easy to get a nice flow
