Best Legendaries for Destruction Warlock
Wrist & Finger
Wrist > Finger
Secondaries to use:
With the changes made to the Destruction Warlock talent tree in Shadowlands, we now have multiple strong talents we can combine to make a very powerful setup for Mythic+. This is furthermore empowered by the
bonus. A lot of the power of Destruction lies in our
cooldown. The combination of these new talents allowing you to generate and spend even more shards than before, combined with the reduced cooldown of Infernal. This makes for an extremely strong burst spec.

Secondaries to use:
The increased % damage proc it grants you is very strong in every single scenario. A small bonus is, this legendary can also be used in the other two Warlock specs.
Best Destruction Warlock Mythic+ Talents
When doing dungeons as a Destruction Warlock there's not a whole lot of different setups to run, but some talents are interchangeable depending on the dungeon and affixes.
If there's enough targets you can swap out
This setup revolves around your
cooldown and proccing as many extra infernals through
as you can.
This setup is even stronger when paired with the
legendary bonus. This allows you to reduce the cooldown of your
In dungeons where you won't be fighting trash-packs non-stop, you can swap out
. This is most likely going to be during Tyrannical weeks as well.
Destruction Warlock Mythic+ Utility
Warlocks, in general, have quite a few utility tools that can be very helpful when it comes to Mythic+
- Banishes a Demon, Aberration, or Elemental mob, preventing any action from them for 30 seconds. A Banished target can't do anything but is also immune to damage. You can break a
by recasting the ability on the target.
This can be very useful because it's a cc that doesn't break from damage. This means you control when the mob you've cc'd gets released. The only notable downside of this is, if you have multiple Warlocks in the same group you can end up overwriting each other's casts. Make sure only one person is casting at a time.
- Creates a
, that can be used to heal a moderate amount of health.
s can be traded, and have 3 charges.
Doesn't really need a lot of explanation. Adds a nice chunk of healing to your group, basically grants you an extra health pot.
- Creates a summoning portal, that can be used to summon party and raid members. Requires the caster and 2 allies to complete the ritual.
Not insanely useful, but worth mentioning. If someone is at the opposite end of the dungeon and has a long run ahead of them, pop out a stone and summon them to your position.
- A combat resurrection that brings a dead player to life after a short cast time. Can also be precast on an ally, that can use it to instantly resurrect after dying.
This can be such a strong cooldown. It acts both as a battle ress, but you can also apply it to a target before they're about to die allowing them to instantly ress. This can be especially useful in Mythic+ when death skipping.
Dealing with Weekly Affixes as a Destruction Warlock
Sanguine is our #1 enemy as Destruction.
is our spender on AoE packs and if mobs are being dragged out of it you lose immense value.
Some ways to play around this:
Try focus mobs with high health as to not kill off any low health mobs
Dump shards when you think there are 6+ seconds until the mobs start moving
Start spending Soul Shards with
instead once mobs are being dragged
Destruction has to be extremely careful when it comes to Bursting. Both
can wreak havoc if you don't keep it in mind when dealing with a large number of mobs at the same time.
Make sure you stop damage once everything is about to die. Alternatively, start casting
on high health targets to spend Soul Shards
Help kill off a few lower health mobs early on when fighting the pack. This will help your group spread out the stacks and not stack them up to receive a fatal blow.
We have a few abilities that help your group deal with Explosive spawns.
being instant casts are especially useful.
Volcanic is a pretty simple and easy mechanic to deal with, but we don't really have any special tools that help us deal especially well with it.
stacked up helps soften the initial blow if hit.
further empowers this.
Tier 10+ Season Affix - Prideful for Destruction Warlock
Before we get into this, a word on the seasonal affix for Shadowlands S1:
Prideful is, in many ways, reminiscent of
. Much like the affix of yore, this one causes a
to spawn the moment the forces cleared in the dungeon goes past 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%. This mob does some pulsing AoE damage to the entire group when it spawns; it then engages you in combat. It has two abilities:
is a pulsing AoE emitted from the
, with a 65yd range. Each time it is cast, the
gains a stack of
, increasing the damage this does by 40%, stacking. There is nothing you can do to prevent this other than killing it before it kills you.
causes a player to grow in size and be surrounded by four red orbs. These orbs follower the player's hitbox, and are aimed north, south, east, west. After a short period of time, each orb emits a beam in the direction it was pointing in.
To counter this, as a tank, if you are picked,
do not move
. If you are not picked, quickly check who is picked, and make sure to get out of the way if one of them is pointing in your direction, making sure to also leave space for the melee.
As a Destruction Warlock, we don't necessarily have a whole lot of tools to help our group with this mob, other than damaging it. We have a few tools to help heal ourselves and reduce the damage:
When you defeat it, your entire group gains
, granting everybody damage, movement speed, and mana regen. This is the
ideal time to pull big
! Plan your route accordingly, and make sure you play well around you cd's in order to utilize this damage bonus! It will severely reduce your groups time spent in the dungeon.

prior to entering combat on this platform. How you place it is up to you, but giving yourself more tools to dodge the boss's abilities here saves you from spending a lot of time running.
Make sure you farm up some Soul Shards for the intermission as damage during this phase is much more worth it than during the boss phase.
Make sure you stay within the boss's circle so you don't get feared. You can place a

Make sure you have Soul Shards stored up for the adds spawning. Having your

Save your cooldowns for when the elemental dies. You should use

on it as it may reset the boss if the vulpin runs too far away.
Night Fae Bonus
In this dungeon, you can help your group out a little bit if you're Night Fae. In the beginning of the dungeon before the first boss, you can open the door on the left side. This door opens up to a garden filled with mushrooms that grant stat buffs.
One of the most useful classes on this fight is a Warlock. You can cast
on the big ooze he spawns and keep it cc'd for the rest of the fight. This allows your group to deal with the three small ones instead. Keep in mind, you may have to reapply multiple times depending on how long your kill takes.
You can use

Kryxis the Voracious
on the ground to teleport to when the boss knocks everyone back. This can also be used to get in position to share the damage on his charge.
Grand Proctor Beryllia
Very straight forward single-target fight, the only comment I have on this is:
When playing Night Fae, use
to quickly run around and pick up orbs to reduce damage taken on this boss.
Notes for Trash Packs
If your group has a Venthyr player, try to utilize the lanterns to gain the increased damage buff. If you do, make sure you consider how you use your cooldowns. If you use your cooldowns on high stacks of the damage increase buff you can deal extreme amounts of damage to packs very quickly. Alternatively, stack this up prior to a boss and use your cooldowns on the boss.
Devos, Paragon of Doubt
The only boss I really have any tips for in this dungeon is the last one, but it's also here we really get to shine!
on top of the spear the boss puts down. During the intermission, rush out and pick up an orb. You can then teleport back to your circle to instantly deliver it. This helps your group quickly move through this intermission and back to killing the boss.

You can use

Make sure you save your cooldowns for when the boss is pulled down and do not deal too much damage to the add. Once the boss is down you can apply

Nalthor the Rimebinder
If the boss targets you with its Dark Exile, you can place a

somewhere away from the boss, when he then tries to drag you in you teleport away. This gives you a much easier time dealing with the chains moving through the room.
Xav the Unfallen
Situationally you might want to save your cooldowns on this boss. When he chooses two people to duel, if you win the duel you will gain a damage increase buff. This is not worth it if the boss dies before you've played all of your cooldowns though.
You can use
to better help dodge the bosses mechanics as well.
Mordretha, the Endless Empress
Loads of mechanics on this fight you can use

Best Destruction Warlock Covenant for Mythic+
Night Fae would be my #1 suggestion when choosing a covenant based on Mythic+ performance. The covenant ability
is both very strong on single-target and cleave. Situationally this ability can also be a lifesaver through the increased damage and healing from channeling
into the dot. This ability is further empowered and made more attractive from the covenants conduit
which increases the radius and damage of
This covenant signature ability
is absolutely amazing, and honestly quite broken! It grants you a blink on a 1.5 minute cooldown and is just such a great addition to our kit. Through the Soulbind tree, it actually becomes slightly more interesting. First off

can turn your
into an engage type ability that gives the ability an interesting twist.
Alternatively, Kyrian is also quite strong in the Mythic+ setting with
granting 5 full Soul Shards if a target dies while affected by this dot. This is very strong if you're able to then cast a

More detailed information on the various Covenants is available below. You can familiarize yourself with the abilities at your disposal, and their uses:

Best Soulbinds for Destruction Warlock in Mythic+
Within the Night Fae covenant there are two options for Soulbinds I would recommend.

offers you increased Mastery. Mastery is one of the stats we scale off of the most, this makes this trait very attractive.
Moving down through the Potency conduit,
adds sustain to your Covenant ability and is actually pretty nice since we don't really have a lot of out of combat self-healing.
Going through the Potency conduit, we pick up
, which is situationally strong. Keep in mind you will have to interrupt something successfully to proc this, meaning it's likely not very strong on targets you can't reliable interrupt more or less off of cooldown.
Within the Night Fae Covenant, Dreamweaver is the most attractive option.
is basically a cheat-death effect. This can be extremely powerful, since it might save you from otherwise being dead for large portions of an encounter.
You go through 2 Potency conduits quickly in this tree, leading to
. It makes your
even stronger, as it now grants you a big boost to your Haste as well.
Destruction Warlock Strengths
Destruction has multiple strengths through its kit, talents, and utility. Here are some of the notable strengths:
Very good priority target damage, we're able to store up Soul Shards and unload them into one specific target with
Very strong cleave by duplicating spells through
Very high AoE burst during
Destruction Warlock Weaknesses
Specifically for dungeons Destruction also has some very potent weaknesses. The most notable of these are:
Not a great spec on straight Single Target
Limited by movement. We only really have
to cast while on the move meaning movement lowers our damage significantly
For dungeons, specifically mythic+ the cooldown on
is incredibly long and you will have to be smart with your usage. This isn't as big of a deal if you're playing the
Hopefully, this gives you a better understanding of what to expect when playing a Destruction Warlock in Mythic+.
How to Find Groups as a Destruction Warlock
In general, Warlocks aren't currently the most wanted when forming a group for a dungeon, this means you'll have to make yourself more attractive in order to get into groups. Here are a few points of advice that should hopefully help you have an easier time when farming Mythic+ as a Warlock.
The first one is, make your own group. If you make the group, you're the one that decides who's in and who's out. This is the #1 way to make sure you're invited to the dungeon, what are they gonna do? Go without you?
Make sure your character is optimized. Have everything enchanted, gemmed, and make sure you're playing the correct talents. When someone looks up your character, a bunch of unsocketed unenchanted items is a big red flag telling you not to invite this guy
Know your strengths, try apply to groups that say they need battle resses
Target dungeons in the zone your covenant is. If you're a Night Fae, you will likely have an easier time getting into the two Ardenweald because you can utilize the Night Fae buffs in there
