Battle for Azeroth Pet Battle World Quests
The following is a basic combat guide for the pet battle world quests. Because the fights are generally pretty flexible I will be showing mostly detail about the fights and any special abilities to be aware of instead of full teams and round by round combat outlines.
About World Quests
You won't see any of these pet battles until you have unlocked world quests in BFA. This requires you to reach level 120, unlock all three footholds in your war campaign and reach friendly with each of the three island factions for your side.
Once you've done this all world quests will become active and you will see pet battle quests listed with a green paw print in a brown circle. If you do not see them look in other zones or check to see if you have pet battle tracking turned off in your map filters.
They're on a rotating schedule and any three of them will be active at a time. Since there are 4 per zone the chance that any given one will be up on a given day is 3/24 or about 1 in 8. So check back over the next week and chances are you'll see what you're looking for pop up at some point. The duration of these world quests isn't static and can run for hours or days so keep checking back.
Rewards
Each of these world quests rewards rep for the faction area where they're located or war faction rep if you're on the opposite island. In addition each of them can reward a number of
抛光的宠物符咒
(anywhere from 1-20 has been seen), 10-20 Battle pet bandages, 1x
有标记的无瑕战斗石
and 1-10 pet family specific battle stones. They will also sometimes reward cash, Azerite power and war resources.
About the Battles
Unlike previous expansions each of the trainers you can fight in these WQ are scaled to the level of the highest level pet on your team. So if you go in with a team of level 1 pets then the Trainer's team will also be level 1. A team of 25.1.1 will result in a team of all 25's on the trainer side. This changes the fighting dynamics for many of these battles depending on why you're doing them. Because the pets have a static set of three abilities they don't conform to the normal 1-20 ability set and they will have access to their third ability as early as level 5 or 6 so this is only really a strategy at the lowest levels. This makes the fights themselves very flexible unless you are attempting to finish the
激战赞达拉和库尔提拉斯
achievement which requires a full team of 25 level pets to complete. It should also be noted that the scaling does not apply to the single pet fights for Bristlespine, Chitara, Jammer, Bloodtusk and Spineleaf.
All of that said many of the fights are solo-able at 25 with a selection of damage heavy pets like
钢铁星弹
,
伊奇
or
赞达拉撕踝者
who can output killing blows to multiple pets in 3-5 rounds

All elemental Pets, vulnerable to aquatic attacks. A good frog or snail can solo most of the combat.
All Beast type pets, Can be soloed with Iron Starlette or Clockwork Gnome
Wacky fight, all three B's have 5k+ health and on their first attack use Sting which kills them after 10 rounds regardless of their current health. While all three are flying family and have slicing wind each has a third ability that does flying/critter/humanoid damage in that order. So you don't have to win this fight as much as survive them for 10 rounds until they self destruct. Use a pet with a heavy shield (Anubiseth Idol, Dream Whelpling (toxic skin), or something with dodge/burrow like a rabbit. Some of their attacks do backline damage so any carry pet needs a little health to survive.
All aquatic team, any team of birds or moths will work. Can be soloed with Direbeak Hatchling (2/2/1)
All mechanical pets vulnerable to elemental attacks. Can be soloed with Singing Sunflower. Fel Flame etc. Primary pet has a swap attack.
One undead and two magic pets, Can be soloed with a direbeak hatchling or iron Starlette.
As a solo pet, even with high health can be soloed with Iron starelette or Clockwork gnome with build turret. Bristlespine has a buff called Bristlepine's Sharpened Tusks. It reflects 100% of the last damage she took at the end of the round.
Mixed team (Elemental, Aquatic, Magic) First two can be Pump/water jetted to early deaths, Mind warper has an interupt to stun your initial round that is on a 2 round cooldown and can deal some damage. As a Magic pet mind warper is weak to dragonkin and has longish cooldowns on his 2/and 3 slot abilities. Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling or Emerald Proto-whelp are recommended.
Funny fight, all three pets are full sized sharks with names that reference Finding Nemo. Funny that Bruce is the only aquatic and the other two are beasts. This is a tough fight to solo so a two pet strat is called for, most pairs of damage heavy pets will work with favor on Iron Starlette and Direbeak Hatchling. A team of all Magic pets will work also.
All Aquatic pets, can be easy soloed with Ikky, Direbeak Hatchilng or other flying pet teams.
Has a buff that requires ~15 hits to remove. The buff reduces damage by 100% until it is gone and comes in 5 "shells" that take 5 hits, 4 hits etc each to remove. Once totally removed it changes to 250% damage received and 100% damage dealt.
All Undead pets with a similar model but a selection of different abilites. Can be done with a team of 2-3 frogs with Bubble and Healing wave. Recommended Swarm of Flies and Tounge Lash for filler.

Mixed Team (Flying/Beast/Critter) can be solo/duoed with Direbeak Hatchilng (fast) or Emerald Proto-Whelp (slow)
This is another single pet fight. It can be soloed with Direbeak Hatchling or Clockwork gnome with build turret. Has a natural ability that locks out abilities for 6 rounds so use long multi-attack powers like flock, hunting party or stampede. His attacks are nothing to write home about but if it can lock out your attack bar the DoT's and Heals will keep it in the fight for a while. While it has a vulnerability to aquatic attacks you might lean more towards whirlpool, dive or geyser which have a delay and a cooldown instead of repeat attacks like water jet or pump.
Mixed Team (Flying/Critter/Critter) Clubber's first attack is a peck that swaps out your pet, it stuns for 5 rounds but is on a 15 round cooldown so unless you're really slow at taking him down you won't see him do anything else but peck since he only has 2 attacks. Can be solo'd with an Eldritch Manafiend, Amethyst Spiderling, or Nexus Whelpling.
All Critter team,Can be soloed with a Zandalari Anklerender, Any spiderling, or all beast team. This fight has changed in 8.1. Where the first pet used to use sandstorm that ability has been replaced with mudslide so the fight is not as badly scripted as it used to be. Still a pretty easy fight you just don't get 4ish rounds of free hits.
Another finding Nemo reference, Team is Beast/Flying/Flying - A combo of mechanical and magic attacks is called for. For Mechanical: Darkmoon Tonk, Lil' Bling, Mechanical Axebeak. For Magic: Nexus Whelpling, Nether Faerie Dragon, Stormborn Whelpling. Another badly set fight. All three pets have two DoT attacks but nothing much to use to make them work together. Only Skeeto the third pet has Flock to give his DoTs double damage, everything else is just a long slow burn. Their lack of dodge, burrow, dive or shields makes them super weak against heavy damage attacks and aquatics who will shorten their DoT timers.
This is a solo pet fight, Jammer has a buff that increases damage by 100% when health drops below 100%. He will open with Trihorn shield so you can start with a carry pet. Can be soloed with Iron starelette, largely because you can wind up the attacks without causing damage. Other big hits like Chrominius Howl/Surge of Power will do the same. If you don't have a hitter then make sure you have access to decoy or dodge. His tail smash does do a pet swap but it's not his first attack so it's easy to manage mid fight.
Mixed Team - Critter/Beast/Flying, A flying type with a beast attack works well. Polly or Sandy Petrel that have both lift off and thrash for early avoidance/damage, followed by a Magic attack on a non-magic pet such as Emerald Proto-Whelp, Nether Faerie Dragon will make short work of pet 3. Eighty-Eight is a basic spider, no real surprises. Turbo has black claw but no multi-attack ability. Whiplash has sandstorm and cocoon strike, and as a flying pet is fast so it will be harder to hit. Make sure you watch your timing so you're not throwing your big attack at his shell.
Mixed Team Critter/Flying/Aquatic - 2 pet strategy needed usually, Dream whelpling and Direbeak Hatchling are a good combo. If you don't mind a slow fight can be soloed with an Emerald Proto-Whelpling. There aren't really any tricks to this fight, play against her weaknesses and almost any pet combo will work.
Mixed Team Aquatic/Flying/Flying - Can be powered through with Direbeak Hatchling and Nexus Whelpling. Nothing really shocking here, Molaze (pet #2) does have a pet swap ability but it's not going to do much more than slow you down.
Mixed Team Beast/Undead/Beast - Can be a complicated fight if you want it to be. If RNG is on your side you can mostly solo it with a Direbeak Hatchling. The pet names are references to the velociraptors in Jurassic World. Opening pet is a Black Claw/Hunting Party combo, 2nd pet has an ability that damages itself. Mostly glass canons that take poorly to stuff like Turret and smackthat.exe.
Like the other solo pets this one has an ability that isn't part of his attack line. Bloodtusk will heal to 100% health when he KO's one of your pets. He has one attack that hits progressively harder as he uses it. Short fights are better, if it looks like he's going to kill one of yours then swap ASAP. If he gets a kill forfeit, he'll likely one-shot your other two in short order afterwards. He's a beast so weak against mechanicals. Can be soloed by Cogblade raptor, lil bling, Iron Starlette, and most of your better line of beaters.
Mixed Team Flying/Critter/Flying - One thing to be aware of is the Burst ability on the second pet (Splat) which does a lot of damage and will likely knock out whatever pet you've currently got out so don't pull out your leveling pet until after he goes boom. Additionally Feathers will do a cyclone so make sure your backline pets can withstand a little damage. It may be possible to solo this fight with a Death Talon Whelpguard or Sprite darter Hatchling but it's unclear how much RNG will play a factor in that win.

Hi, I have a problem. I have met all of the requirements you detailed, but I still don't get the pet battles in BFA. This is on my alt. On my main, I have done all the content so far, and I get the pet battles, but I don't how I passed the threshold. I just wondered if you have learned any more about unlocking pet battles because I want to do them on alts for the new pet charms. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks, Scorpion8125

So, I've noticed that the rewards being offered for WQ pet battles are different now from character to character. Is there any way I can affect how these rewards to appear? I like sticking to only the ones that reward the specific class stones, but it's not unusual to see one offered on one character, and it not being available for any of my other characters. Does anyone have anything additional to share on this?
