Hello everyone. This guide will discuss the
legendary for Balance Druid
and how powerful it really is. I hope you enjoy reading! Let me know if I did any of my math wrong.
Warning: potentially boring math ahead!
The not quite basics:
causes our
Starsurge
to reduce the Astral Power cost of
Starsurge
by 10 for 3 seconds, and stacks up to 2 times.
This means that we are capable of pooling 100 Astral Power and casting three
Starsurge
in a row before running out of Astral Power, assuming we don't cast any other spells.
However, we are able to make this legendary
extremely
strong by doing what I call "Starsurge Chaining". Let's take a look into the mechanics:
When we cast
Starsurge
for the first time, it will cost 40 AP. When we cast it again within 3 seconds, it will cost 30 AP.
If we cast it any additional times afterwards within 3 seconds of each cast, it will only cost 20 AP each!
The 3 second window it gives us to cast
Starsurge
again allows us to cast one of our AP generators (
Solar Wrath
,
Lunar Strike
)
between each
Starsurge
cast. This means we can essentially feed ourselves a lot of AP to cast on our cheap
Starsurge
before we completely run out.
We will need to be using the
Blessing of the Ancients
(Blessing of Elune) talent to make this really be possible and fully shine.
And so, if we pool 100 Astral Power and begin our chain, we are capable of casting
Starsurge
8 times
(6 of which cost only 20 AP),
Lunar Strike
4 times
, and
Solar Wrath
3 times
,
before we run out of Astral Power to spend on our cheap
Starsurge
. This process speeds up with Haste, as well:

seconds to complete.
With 25% base haste, our process will take us

seconds to complete.
With 25% base haste and the
Starlord
talent, our process will take us
17.7
seconds to complete.
The reason we want to use both
Solar Wrath
and
Lunar Strike
alternatively is so that our DoTs can stay refreshed via
Nature's Balance
.
Unfortunately, doing this chaining will result in some of our Empowerments being wasted because we can only spend one of them per Starsurge cast, while Starsurge generates 2 per cast.
This isn't a big deal and it's probably worth more to just spam
Starsurge
when it only costs 20 AP.
It gets better:
This process gets even more complicated when we introduce the Scythe of Elune Artifact Ability,
New Moon
.
New Moon
, when cast, upgrades itself into
Half Moon
, and when Half Moon is cast, it upgrades itself into
Full Moon
, and the cycle resets when Full Moon is cast.
It has 3 charges so you should essentially save up all 3 of them for the Starsurge Chain and try your best to have 100 AP as soon as you hit the 3rd charge.
These spells generate quite a lot of Astral Power so we can integrate it into our Starsurge Chain with great effect:
If we pool 100 Astral Power and 3 New Moon charges begin our chain, we are capable of casting
Starsurge
12 times
(10 of which cost only 20 AP),
Lunar Strike
4 times
, and
Solar Wrath
4 times
.

It's getting pretty ridiculous at this point...
Incarnation (Celestial Alignment):
You need to remember your burst cooldown causes your Solar Wrath and Lunar Strike to generate 50% extra Astral Power, and gives you stacking haste from
Sun and Stars
.
This doesn't change your rotation a whole lot, but you can bet you'll be shooting out Starsurges like it's the only spell in your spellbook.

Doesn't work until you get way higher Haste than mentioned above. Especially Full Moon can't be cast in between, it just takes too long without BL/TW/Hero.

You should try to hit 33,3% haste so you can cast double wrath beetween each SS. But you should use empowerments than cast SS. With the emerald dreamcatcher you should open the fight with prepot > 2x wrath > new moon > Moonfire and Sunfire > Incarnation > Half Moon > Full moon > 3x SS. After this you should do 2x Wrath > SS > 2x Wrath > SS > Starfire (2x Starfire if Hero and 33,3% haste) > SS > Starfire (Again 2 if hero and haste breakpoint) > SS > 2x Wrath > Dump AP on SS and continue doing the rotation. When Hero and Incarnation runs off, keep doing 2x wrath when you have it empowered and Starfire as filler beetween SS to get the Solar Empowerment back up.
