Summary
Into the Unknown
You and Pelagos travel through a portal to Zereth Mortis, "workshop of the First Ones". Though a Nathrazim attack destroys the portal behind you, the Broker Firim - formerly Al’firim of Tazavesh infamy - directs you to the safety of Haven. Here, you meet the Enlightened - Brokers who have left their cartels and dedicated themselves to the pursuit of knowledge. Though suspicious of you at first, you prove yourself to their Elders by helping fight off a Mawsworn attack, and they reveal an ancient prophecy - the Waystones were placed by the First Ones themselves, and they only react to mortal souls destined to save the Shadowlands. You prove yourself the subject of this prophecy by activating the Waystone in Haven - opening a portal to Oribos that allow the rest of the Covenant forces through.
We Battle Onward
You realize the Jailer's forces are destabilizing the Forge of the Afterlives, and though do your best to stop them, the Mawsworn remain one step ahead of you - with the Dreadlord Mal'Ganis himself even impersonating you to sow chaos in your ranks. Finally, you witness Anduin and the Jailer use the power of the Forge of the Afterlives to gain access to the Sepulcher of the First Ones - where the power to reshape the universe itself is said to be contained - before closing the way behind them so that it is impossible for you to follow.
Forming an Understanding
While helping Zereth Mortis with its Devourer threat, You and Pelagos come across a badly wounded Oracle in
. Seeing the claim that the Oracle tried to communicate with you as blasphemy, the Enlightened refuse to help, and Pelagos determines for you to seek out the aid of Firim - who does not subscribe to their doctrine and is therefore banished from Haven - instead. You find Firim hounded by assassins from Cartel Xy - who have been bothering him since you opened the way from Oribos. You deal with the assassins and Firim agrees to help with the Oracle - who uses what little energy she has to awaken a small Automa called Pocapoc before falling into a deep sleep. Pocapoc helps introduce you to the Cypher of the First Ones system, which you can use to unlock the many secrets of Zereth Mortis!
Forging a New Path
Uther the Lightbringer visits you in Haven, carrying important news. Sylvanas Windrunner has awakened - and wishes to help save Anduin. But even if you do decide to trust her enough to let her help, you will have to reach the Sepulcher first. Elder Ara of the Enlightened offers her help, and together you find a key to a translocator that can take you to the Sepulcher. The key is badly damaged, but you manage to repair it within the Creation Catalyst - unlocking the Translocator and opening a way to the Sepulcher of the First Ones. With the way now open, your first priority is to rescue Anduin. Once that's done, you can turn your attention to Zovaal himself.
Crown of Wills
By now, you have successfully entered the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid and freed Anduin Wrynn, but if you have any hope of defeating the Jailer, you'll need to find a way to resist his Domination magic. You perform a series of experiments using the pieces of the broken Helm of Domination, learning that the language of the First Ones can help with resistance - the more complex the phrases, the more natural resistance they offer. You infuse the shards of the Helm with these phrases, and also with the wills of those who have thrown off the Helm's Domination before - Bolvar Fordragon, Darion Mograine, Sylvanas Windrunner, and Anduin Wrynn. Once this is done, the Primus reforges the fragments of the Helm into something new - the Crown of Wills. This will protect you from the Jailer's Domination and help you defeat him once and for all. And never again will a Lich King reign in Icecrown. Back in Haven, you witness a conversation between father and daughter as Taelia confronts Bolvar on his decision to let her believe he died in Northrend all those years ago.
A Means to an End
Communicating through Pocopoc, the Oracle you rescued sends you on a task - to find an empty vessel with a special purpose. Though reaching the vessel is not easy, you work your way through a complicated system of loci and cyphers until you find the vessel atop some of Zereth Mortis's highest peaks. You return it to Firim's cave, and the Oracle - who introduces herself as Saezurah - uses the energy Pocopoc brings her to restore herself to full health. She explains her plans for the empty vessel - to fully heal the Shadowlands, you need to replace what was lost from the pattern. You are going to use the empty vessel to create a new Arbiter.
Starting Over
With the promise of a new Arbiter, you work on putting Saezurah's plans into place - transporting the empty vessel to Crypts of the Eternal so that you can infuse it with a worthy soul. At first, everything seems to be going to plan, but disaster strikes during the ritual, as Dreadlords reveal themselves and hijack the ritual to infuse the empty vessel with Argus' soul. It is revealed that the Titan's death was the catalyst that destroyed the Arbiter in the first place - the Dreadlords apparently imbued Argus with Death magic on the Jailer's orders. It seems all hope is lost, until Pelagos offers his own soul. He is found worthy, and is transformed - though still himself, he now has the power of the Arbiter. With its new Arbiter, the Shadowlands is once again restored. All that's left now is to finally defeat Zovaal once and for all.
Epilogue: Judgement
In the final chapter, we witness Sylvanas' judgment. Sylvanas acknowledges her actions were her own - the Jailer did not force her to make the choices that she did - and she accepts her punishment, and that her judge should be Tyrande Whisperwind. Tyrande sentences Sylvanas to the Maw - to find and rescue every last soul and send them to Arbiter Pelagos, until not even one remains in eternal torment.
Aftermath: Conversations
In the story's aftermath, we witness several conversations - between Alleria & Vereesa Windrunner, Bolvar Fordragon & Darion Mograine, Genn Greymane & Anduin Wrynn, Genn Greymane & Lor'themar Theron, Baine Bloodhoof & Lor'themar Theron, and Arbiter Pelagos & Kleia.

The voice of

echoes through your mind - the time has finally come to follow

The Primus says: Maw Walker, the time has come to resume our pursuit of the Jailer. I await you in Oribos.
In

The Primus
Though we fought to stop the Jailer in the Sanctum of Domination, we failed. He enveloped Oribos in the Maw, struck down the Arbiter, and opened the way to Zereth Mortis.
The time has come to follow him.
Within the Arbiter's Chamber, we will forge our own path.
Hurry, Maw Walker. The fate of the Shadowlands, and all the realms beyond, is at stake.
To open his portal, the Jailer needed five sigils, all of which he managed to steal despite our best efforts to stop him. If we wish to open our own portal, we too will need these sigils. During the
Chains of Domination storyline
, we reforged four of the five - the Sigils of
炽蓝仙野
,
晋升堡垒
,
雷文德斯
, and
玛卓克萨斯
. All that remains now is the Sigil of
仲裁官
.
The Primus
There is but one final sigil needed to pursue Zovaal.
The Story of Chains of Domination
Lore Spotlight: The Five Sigils
The five sigils are objects of great importance that were granted to the Eternal Ones long ago. As each Eternal One was tasked with leading a Covenant in the Shadowlands, the sigil they were given signified that Covenant's purpose. Zovaal, however, realized that the five sigils used together could work as a key to sacred yet forbidden knowledge, and wished to use them for this purpose. The other Eternal Ones refused, and when he tried to claim their sigils by force, they sentenced him to his banishment in the Maw.
Zovaal has worked hard since to retrieve the five sigils, and has succeeded in his goal.
Denathrius's betrayal
provided him with the
sigil of Revendreth
. Anduin, controlled by Domination magic, retrieved
the sigil of Bastion
when he attacked the Kyrian's Archon in the
announcement trailer for Chains of Domination
. We failed to stop the Jailer from stealing the Winter Queen's
sigil of Ardenweald
in the
Chains of Domination: Battle of Ardenweald
, and we unintentionally delivered the Primus's sigil of Maldraxxus to the Jailer ourselves during
Chains of Domination: The Last Sigil
. Finally, we failed to prevent Zovaal from reclaiming his own sigil, the
sigil of the Arbiter
, during the events of the
Sanctum of Domination raid
. With all five sigils in his possession, Zovaal was able to use them as he had always intended - as keys, opening a portal to a realm, forbidden to the Eternal Ones, that contains powerful and sacred knowledge.
Though the Arbiter herself was destroyed when Zovaal took back his sigil, a portion of her power still remains in the Attendants of
奥利波斯
. Together, they are able to forge a new Arbiter's sigil. With all five sigils working together, the portal can be opened once again.
The Primus says: With the Maw Walker's aid, the covenants have been renewed. Yet one sigil is still required to pursue Zovaal: The Arbiter's.
Tal-Inara says: Though her presence is lost to darkness, her voice still sings... within us.
Overseer Kah-Sher says: Blessed be her voice.
The Primus says: Together, we shall manifest the final sigil.
Tal-Inara says: This is our purpose.
The Primus says: The way is open!
Zovaal's destination is
扎雷殁提斯
, realm of the First Ones, and the heart of the Shadowlands itself. (

The Primus
The path to Zereth Mortis is open.
We must part ways here. The Eternal Ones are forbidden from returning to the place of our creation. Zovaal has defied the most sacred laws of the Progenitors.
You must undertake this journey alone.
Go. Find a foothold in Zereth Mortis so that we can send the covenant forces through.
Then we will pursue the Jailer and end his madness.
The Primus says: Through that gateway lies Zereth Mortis. The realm of the First Ones... and the very heart of the Shadowlands.
The Primus says: It is a sacred place forbidden to outsiders--even the pantheon of Death. But we cannot allow the Jailer to breach the Sepulcher.
The Primus says: The journey may be perilous, but I know you will face whatever danger comes.
The Primus says: When you arrive, send word and our covenant forces will follow. Good luck, Maw Walker.
The Primus says: The gateway is open. Take the anima wyrm and ride through it.
Lore Spotlight: Zereth Mortis & the First Ones
Zereth Mortis, the workshop of the First Ones, is a special realm designed for the purpose of creating afterlives. Zovaal's destination is the Sepulcher of the First Ones, an area within Zereth Mortis that contains the knowledge required to rewrite reality itself. According to the Broker who canonically wrote the
Grimoire of the Shadowlands
, the word 'Zereth' can be translated to mean 'cornerstone' or 'keystone', making Zereth Mortis the "Cornerstone/Keystone of Death".
The First Ones, also known as the Progenitors, are the powerful beings who created or "ordered" the universe, forming the cosmology we know today: Light, Void, Order, Disorder, Life, and Death. Presumably, every major cosmological force has its own Zereth realm as well.
As you mount an

Pelagos yells: Wait!
Kleia says: Pelagos! What are you doing!?
Pelagos says: Primus, I ask to join the Maw Walker on this journey into the unknown.
The Primus says: The Archon would be proud. Go with my blessing.
Suddenly, all is chaos as an
侍神职员
reveals themself to be a Dreadlord, ushering in a Mawsworn attack. As you fly around the chamber, the Primus lends you his power to help fight off the Jailer's invading forces.
Attendant Functionary says: All your preparation... for nothing!
The Primus says: Nathrezim!
Attendant Functionary says: Arise, Mawsworn! Destroy them all!
The Primus says: Ride the wyrm into battle! Hurry!
The Primus says: Maw Walker! I will lend you my power to destroy these invaders!
With the Primus's power, you fight off as many Mawsworn as you can, until finally a pair use chains to hold you in place, and a
渊誓狱卒
shoots a ball of dark magic at you, dismounting you from your wyrm. Miraculously, you and Pelagos manage to land on the back of a
Winged Soul Eater
.
The soul eater does its best to throw you off, but you hold on tight, fighting the creature into submission.
Pelagos yells: Incoming!
Mawsworn Warden says: The Jailer will have his prize!
Pelagos yells: Quickly, grab the reins!
Hauling on the Soul Eater's reins, you make it through to Zereth Mortis just in time - as behind you, a barrage of dark Maw magic destroys the portal.
The Primus: Go through the gateway! Now!
You find yourself in the middle of a strange and beautiful lake. The water below your feet is oddly buoyant, holding you afloat as you walk across it, geometric patterns reflecting in its surface. Plants and lantern-like structures hang in the sky on nothing, and, every now and then, golden orbs float by overhead.
Though the poor Soul Eater did not survive the journey, Pelagos thankfully did.
Pelagos says: Maw Walker? Where are you?
This... certainly is not Oribos.
The portal is gone, but you can make out a structure in the distance. Pelagos suggests you investigate. (
异乡异邦人
)
Did we... did we reach Zereth Mortis? And are we walking on water?
What a wondrous place! At least, from what I can tell through this fog.
I think I can make out a structure in the distance. Perhaps we will find answers there.
Pelagos says: The portal is gone. Perhaps the Mawsworn destroyed it behind us. I pray Kleia and the others are unharmed.
Pelagos says: We cannot stop the Jailer alone. We must find a way back to Oribos so we can bring our allies through!
As approach the structure, you pass some odd construct-like creatures, working industriously. When Pelagos makes an attempt to communicate, one responds in a strange, musical language.
Pelagos says: These beings seem oblivious to our presence. Curious.
Pelagos says: Um... hello?
Automa Servitor says: <Strange symbols>
Pelagos says: Did you understand any of that? It sounded like music... but also like language...
As you approach the structure's impressive gate, you meet a Broker sitting before it - but one unlike any you've seen before. While the Brokers of Oribos are richly dressed, showing off their wealth and status, the robes of this Broker are tattered and well-worn. For a moment, he seems to take you for agents of the Jailer, but you quickly put his mind at ease.
Firim says: What is this?! More agents of the Jailer?
Pelagos says: No! We have come to stop him! But we need a way back to our allies in Oribos. Will you help us?
Firim says: Hmph. You appear far too confused to be Mawsworn. Come, let us speak.
I will not abide agents of the Jailer defiling this land!
Firim asks you help him find the keys that can unlock gate into Zereth Mortis. (
失联已久的菲历姆
)
I was gathering data here when your portal opened. The disruption activated these gate-locking mechanisms.
It is only fair for you to gather the gate keys, yes? We shall speak while you search.
The Broker seems to expect you to have heard of him. Though you might have read of "Al’firim" in the dungeon
塔扎维什,帷纱集市
, Pelagos has not, but he has heard of a missing Broker expedition that was lost long ago. Firim seems amused by this, and very quickly explains he is not at all stranded, but has chosen to make his home here.
Firim says: I, of course, am Firim. Surely you have heard of my expedition to locate Zereth Mortis.
Pelagos says: I fear not. But the brokers in Bastion do tell of an expedition that went missing long, long ago.
Firim says: Missing? Hardly! I succeeded in finding this realm of knowledge and wonder.
Lore Spotlight: Firim
Firim, formerly Al’firim, is infamous in the Shadowlands. Known as "the Mad Scribe", he lead the expedition to find the Sepulcher of the First Ones. After discovering a clue to the location of the Sepulcher, Al’firim, a gifted codebreaker, began to work on decyphering this clue - an investigation he details in his
Expedition Report A37J
, which can be found in-game within the Tazavesh dungeon.
The Story of Tazavesh, the Veiled Market
As Al’firim gained a greater and greater understanding of Sepulcher, the First Ones, and the nature of the universe itself, his reports back to his cartel became more and more incoherent, until Cartel Al finally labeled him a heretic and wrote off any who joined his expedition as doomed. It is this expedition that Pelagos refers to.
By dropping the "Al" from his name, Firim shows that he is no longer affiliated with Cartel Al, and is rather his own Broker.
As you fetch the gate's geometric-like keys - the orbs hovering above them float away as you pick them up, as if they were tethered before - Pelagos and Firim discuss the Mawsworn invasion. Firim is sure the Jailer is after access to the
初诞者圣墓
- a place that holds the power of the universe itself. Pelagos also questions Firim about the strange constructs, and he tells you they're called Automa - and are the caretakers of the realm, left behind by the First Ones.
Pelagos says: I see no Mawsworn here. Where are they?
Firim says: The Jailer's forces are spreading like a plague across Zereth Mortis. No doubt he seeks entrance to the Sepulcher.
Firim says: Be wary! His agents could be anywhere...
Pelagos says: What manner of constructs are these?
Firim says: They are called automa. The caretakers of Zereth Mortis, left here by the First Ones.
The keys themselves, a
四角物体
and
三角物体
, slot neatly into the altars before the gate, opening it up before you. Firim seems impressed.
You are stronger and more patient than you look.
As creations of the First Ones, the Automa are usually considered sacred and best left alone. However, the threat of the Jailer is far too great to not make use of every defense at your disposal. Firim asks you to help him obtain a certain

. (

)
To drive the Jailer from Zereth Mortis, we must direct all our resources against the enemy.
An object of potential power lies in a nearby repository, but the chamber's defenses respond only to automa. I would never harm their kind, but I have encountered one that no longer functions.
If you extract its hand, we could use the inert appendage to gain access to the repository.
I find such use of the First Ones' creations unsavory, but we cannot abide the presence of Mawsworn in this realm.
Firim says: Come. You will assist me by acquiring something I have need of.
Firim says: Pay no mind to the automa. So long as you do not anger them, they will ignore you.
Firim says: Here! Though inert, this one can still be useful.
Firim says: Go on. Fetch me its hand, mortal.
Unfortunately, taking the hand angers one of the nearby active automa, and you have to fight it off.
Pelagos says: Watch out!
Genesis Guardian yells: <strange symbols>
When you tell Firim about the hostile
源生卫士
, he just scolds you for upsetting it.
Pelagos says: You said the automa would ignore us!
Firim says: As long as you did not anger them... which you did. I suggest you be more careful!
Admittedly, I did not foresee this result.
Either way, now you have the hand you can use it to access the repository that Firim mentioned. (
互利共赢
)
It seems the other automa did not appreciate our appropriation of their colleague's hand. They have become hostile.
Unfortunate, but we cannot allow this to impede our progress.
The automa's hand should activate a console within the Genesis Repository. I believe it holds an object of great potential.
After you acquire it, I will guide you to a place that may provide a means to reach the allies you left behind.
Do we have an accord?
Since you're going to be fighting Automa anyway, Firim could also use some

. (

)
I have taken pains not to disturb the automa during my time in Zereth Mortis, and so far they have paid little attention to me.
It seems recent events have changed that.
Again, let me be clear that I have no wish to harm the creations of the First Ones. But if, in the course of your efforts, conflict with the automa becomes inevitable, we must ensure that some good can come of it.
If I can examine fragments of fallen automa, it may provide knowledge to use against the Mawsworn.
As you investigate the repository, you find
掠夺者伊格德雷兹
has managed to get inside before you, but you are able to kill the Mawsworn, who seems weakened by its battle with Atuoma, and retrieve the
原始之核
for Firim.
Pelagos says: This must be the repository.
Pelagos says: Mawsworn! Be careful!
Yggdreth the Despoiler says: Do not interfere, mortal.
Firim says: Ah, there you are. I trust you were successful?
<Firim snatches the core from your hands.>
Intriguing. I have examined many automa cores, but this one glows with an energy unlike any I have seen before.
Though the loss of automa is unfortunate, these fragments could prove a boon to my research.
Firim offers to escort you to a settlement known as Haven. (
安谧港之路
)
I did not expect to encounter a living mortal and a kyrian this day, but your assistance has been valuable.
Before I begin my studies of this automa core, I will guide you to Haven, the settlement founded by my expedition upon our arrival.
Though my colleagues saw fit to exile me for challenging their "Enlightened" dogma, I have no wish to see Haven wiped from existence by the Jailer.
Aid them and they may assist your efforts to return to your allies. We brokers are nothing if not transactional.
On your journey, Pelagos asks Firim about the First Ones. According to the Broker, they haven't been seen in Zereth Mortis since before the Brokers arrived, though it's possible they're in the Sepulcher itself. He's just telling you how important it is that Zovaal doesn't manage to get into the Sepulcher when you see Mawsworn ahead - they seem to be assaulting Haven.
Firim says: Come. My trusty vombata will see you safely to our destination.
Pelagos says: The First Ones... have you ever seen them?
Firim says: Sadly, no. They are long absent. Perhaps they lie within the Sepulcher. Perhaps they went... elsewhere.
Firim says: The Sepulcher holds secrets that could be used to remake the cosmos itself. The Jailer must not be allowed to enter!
Firim says: We may already be too late. Look there! The Mawsworn are attacking Haven!
Outside Haven, Firim says his goodbyes. He will not be welcomed by his fellow Brokers, though he does hope you will help protect them.
I can go no further.
My former colleagues and I have... philosophical differences.
Firim says: This is where we part. Haven is just ahead... along with my estranged kin.
Firim says: They are no friends of mine, but... you must not let the Mawsworn destory this place. May the First Ones guide you, mortal.
You and Pelagos prepare to approach these "Enlightened" Brokers. (
建立联系
)
Firim described these Enlightened brokers unfavorably. Then again, he does seem a bit... eccentric.
Regardless, if we are to restore contact with our comrades in Oribos and defeat the Jailer, we will need allies in Zereth Mortis.
The Mawsworn look to be gathering outside the gates of Haven. We must not let any more innocents fall prey to the Jailer's villainy.
Hopefully the Enlightened will welcome our aid. After you, my friend.
However, they are not nearly as quick to trust you as Firim was. As you enter the barrier surrounding the settlement, you're trapped in a magical cage and brought in front of Haven's Elders.
Enlightened Guardian yells: Halt!
Enlightened Guardian says: Outsiders have penetrated our shields!
Pelagos says: A trap!
Enlightened Guardian says: They could be agents of the Maw! Bring them to the elders!
The Elders are suspicious, with
长者克勒斯
immediately accusing you of being part of the Jailer's forces.
Elder Kreth says: What is this? More of the Jailer's darkness. His forces lay siege to Haven!
Pelagos says: We are allies! I am Pelagos of Bastion, and this is the Maw Walker.
Elder Kreth says: The Maw Walker? Impossible! A lie meant to trick us into lowering our defensive barrier!
We have arrived from Oribos in pursuit of the Jailer.
Elder Kreth says: If you claim to be enemies of the Maw, then prove it. Push back against those monsters!
Elder Kreth
If you do not have the power to help us, then you must go.
Elder Kreth challenges you to prove your worth by helping to defend against the Mawsworn attack. (
保护安谧港
)
Elder Kreth
The Mawsworn are gathering in force outside our very gates. It is clear they mean to overrun our home!
The Enlightened wish only to honor the marvels of the First Ones in peace. Haven's defensive barrier was put in place to shield us from minor threats. We did not imagine the Jailer would send his forces against us.
You claim to be our ally, mortal? Then help us defend this sacred land.
Besides culling their numbers,
长者亚莱
suggests you also take out their Destructors. (
毁灭者的覆灭
)
Elder Ara
The Mawsworn possess terrible weapons that gather dark magic and hurl it against our gates.
The defensive barrier around Haven will not hold much longer. All that we are, all that we hold dear, will soon be erased from existence.
If you are who you claim to be, then prove it to us. Destroy the enemy's armaments and help defend our home.
I pray to the First Ones that you succeed.
As you accept these tasks, Ara speaks up for you, citing ancient First Ones prophecies that spoke of both the Jailer's invasion and the coming of a Maw Walker.
Elder Ara says: Elder Kreth, the cyphers speak of a time when living mortals would arrive to aid the Shadowlands. What if this mortal truly is a Maw Walker?
Elder Kreth says: Impossible! We have barely begun to understand the cyphers. Do not fall prey to flights of fancy like the infidel Firim!
Elder Ara says: The sacred words told us of a coming darkness, and now the Jailer is here. Do you doubt that they could be correct about the Maw Walker as well?
Elder Kreth says: I would never question the prophecies of the First Ones! But this mortal and the kyrian must prove themselves before they can be trusted.
Once you return to the Elders, Kreth seems a little mollified, while Ara is thankful.
Elder Kreth
You have proven your mettle, yet the enemy grows bolder.
Elder Ara
You have bought us time, mortal. First Ones bless us all.
To your shock, Zovaal himself arrives, but instead of leading the attack, he calls on his Mawsworn to retreat. It seems he wishes to focus all his efforts on reaching the Sepulcher. The Elders are shaken, but it's clear you are not part of the Jailer's forces, and they agree to help you open the way to Oribos.
Elder Ara says: There are too many! Our defenses cannot hold!
Zovaal says: This place is of no consequence. The Sepulcher will soon be within reach.
Zovaal says: Mawsworn, come.
If you really are the Maw Walker, then Elder Ara believes you should be able to activate the Waystone in Haven. (
重走老路
)
Elder Ara
The Jailer has withdrawn his forces. I should be relieved, but I fear this means he has found a way into the Sepulcher.
<Elder Ara trembles.>
Despite Elder Kreth's doubts, you have proven to be an ally. Something we need more of.
When our expedition arrived in Zereth Mortis, we discovered a dormant waystone. If you are indeed a Maw Walker, then the prophecies tell us that you will be able to activate it.
If your allies can save this sacred place, then the path to them must be opened.
Come.
As she leads you to its location, Elder Ara explains that these Waystones were placed by the First Ones themselves. According to ancient prophecies, these Waystones would react only to very special mortal souls - those destined to save the Shadowlands.
Elder Ara says: I shall show you the waystone. Follow me.
Elder Ara says: The sacred words tell us that the First Ones placed waystones at crucial locations where they would one day be needed.
Elder Ara says: The waystones would respond only to certain living mortals. The ones destined to save the realms of Death. The Maw Walkers.
Elder Ara says: Let the prophecy be fulfilled!
Sure enough, you are able to open this Waystone as easily as the ones before it - in Korthia and in the Maw.
Elder Ara says: It is the will of the First Ones, this waystone will open to you, mortal.
You journey through the gateway it opens into Oribos, where you find many of your allies waiting for you, lead by
大领主伯瓦尔·弗塔根
.
Kleia says: Pelagos! Thank the Archon you are safe!
Pelagos says: Kleia! Zereth Mortis is wondrous! I have so much to tell you.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: We are relieved to see you back safe, Maw Walker.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
Maw Walker! Thank the Light you and Pelagos are safe!
Bolvar quickly catches you up with what happened after you and Pelagos left Oribos. Your allies managed to defeat the Dreadlord attack, and have been waiting for you since, trusting that you would find a way to establish the pathway to Zereth Mortis.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: After your flight from the Arbiter's chamber, we defeated the nathrezim... but they had sabotaged the gateway.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Once the stain of Maw magic had been cleansed, the Primus placed the gateway in this chamber.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: He trusted that you would find an anchor on the other side to reactivate it, giving us a path to Zereth Mortis.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Now the true work begins... to save Anduin and to prevent the Jailer from remaking reality in his dark image.
With the portal to Zereth Mortis open, the four covenants can join you in Zereth Mortis. (

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
I am relieved that you survived the passage to Zereth Mortis. From what overheard of Pelagos's conversation with Kleia, it sounds like you had an incredible journey.
These Enlightened brokers could make valuable allies. Their knowledge of the automa and the land itself should help us against the Jailer.
Our forces are gathered and ready to follow you to Zereth Mortis.
The final battle lies before us, <name>.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: The Maw Walker has opened the way. Covenant forces, forward to Zereth Mortis!
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: We are with you, Maw Walker.
Back in Haven, Elder Kreth is amazed that you truly are the Maw Walker of prophecy. He apologises for his former harshness - you are welcome in Haven.
So, the sacred words spoke true!
You are a Maw Walker, the opener of the way.
Yes. I have returned with my allies from Oribos.
Elder Kreth says: Forgive my doubts, Maw Walker. You and your allies are welcome among the Enlightened.
Elder Ara says: The sacred words spoke of your coming. Blessed be the First Ones!
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Thank you, elders. With your aid, we pledge to drive the Jailer from Zereth Mortis.
Elder Kreth
You defended Haven, and now you bring allies to preserve this sacred land.
Blessings of the First Ones be upon you, mortal.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
The Jailer's forces control much of Zereth Mortis, but there are other dangers out there as well.
I have dispatched scouts to survey the surrounding area and pinpoint any potential threats.
Speak with each scout. They should have a report of their surveys. Gather this information and then return to me.
Before you head out, the Enlightened Elders also have some tasks for you.
长者祖厄

Elder Zoor
The attack from the Jailer's forces is a sign! In the past, there was one among us who sought the forbidden knowledge of the First Ones. For that, we must have earned their ire and lost the protections we once had.
We must atone for the trespasses of our kin.
Take this incense. Go out into the veldt and burn it as offerings to the First Ones. I hope they will offer us forgiveness.
长者亚莱

Elder Ara
Between the Mawsworn attacks and your presence here, our supplies are dwindling. It pains me to say it, but the most immediate solution for replenishing our resources is the local wildlife.
It is unfortunate that it has come to this, but it is what must be done. Cull some of the local wildlife, and help us replenish our supplies.
You visit Bolvar's scouts and receive their reports - one has discovered invading Devourers, handing over the
源生荒野报告
while rifts open in the distance. You receive the
植物供给扇区报告
from a scout who has discovered a strong Mawsworn presence in the area. Finally, one has come across strange little creatures. Though you can't understand a word of their musical language, they seem friendly enough, and you accept the
塑地之台报告
.
Knight of the Ebon Blade says: Careful, do not alert them to our presence!
Knight of the Ebon Blade says: Mawsworn are near, stay hidden!
Knight of the Ebon Blade says: No danger here. These creatures seem to be unconcerned with our presence.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
This information will help us plan our next move. Thank you, Maw Walker.
The Enlightened Elders thank you for your help.
Elder Zoor
May the First Ones accept these offerings as penitence for past transgressions.
Thank you, Maw Walker.
Elder Ara
Thank you. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
<Name>, you should join Shandris and infiltrate the Mawsworn forces from the east. Whatever information you two uncover will inform us of your next course of action.
Take care. We have no information on what you may find.
Elder Kreth says: The intruders have entrenched themselves near the Forge of Afterlives. If you truly mean to combat them, I suggest you start there.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: We need to know what the Jailer is planning. Darion, take the covenant forces and make a push from the west.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Shandris, you and the Maw Walker infiltrate the east side and see what you can learn.
You meet up with Shandris near the Forge of the Afterlives, a monstrously large orb floating above central Zereth Mortis.
Shandris Feathermoon
You've arrived.
Their movements here are strange. It almost seems as if the bulk of their forces are elsewhere.
She shrouds you as, together, you take a closer look at the Mawsworn. (
大浪淘沙
)
Shandris Feathermoon
The little I have seen so far has given me almost no information about our enemies. We will have to take a closer look.
I can hide the both of us from sight on your command. But stay away from the dreadlords--their eyes are sharp enough to spy even a hidden huntress.
As you approach a pair of
恐惧魔王指挥官
s
, you overhear them discussing the problems they've run into while attempting to gain access to the Forge of Afterlives. Their plan seems to rely on interfering with the Harmonic Channels, obelisks somehow used in conjunction with the Forge.
Dreadlord Commander says: The Harmonic Channels are proving to be... difficult. They reject any attempts at interfacing.
Dreadlord Commander says: And what of Kin'tessa's idea? Has that found success?
Shandris Feathermoon says: So they seek to control the Forge. Come, let us find one of these obelisks.
While you make your way towards one of the Harmonic Channels to investigate, you spot the Dreadlord
金泰莎
converting an Automa with Domination magic. It's quickly evident that the Mawsworn are using the Automa in an attempt to gain control over the Harmonic Channels.
Kin'tessa says: Hurry! The Master's patience is running thin. We must gain access to the Sepulcher.
Shandris Feathermoon says: Dominated automa. That must be how the Mawsworn are tampering with the obelisks.
Lore Spotlight: Kin'tessa
Kin'tessa is a Dreadlord that we first met in Korthia, during the questline They Could Be Anyone. While investigating the disappearance of a Korthia's Fatescribe, Roh-Kalo, players came across a Korthian Keeper who claimed to also be concerned about the Fatescribe. The Keeper was really Kin'tessa in disguise, and she tricked us into leading her directly to Roh-Kalo, who had been hiding from his Dreadlord pursuers. Thanks to our mistake, Fatescribe Roh-Kalo was delivered to the Jailer and Dominated.
We eventually faced and killed the unfortunate Fatescribe during the Sanctum of Domination raid.
You continue to search, until Shandris's sharp eyes catch sight of the Harmonic Channel, large cracks in its surface showing that the Mawsworn have successfully found a way to break the obelisks.
Shandris Feathermoon says: Look, up ahead. They have already destroyed an obelisk.
Once you get closer, Shandris realizes the Harmonic Channels are designed to work with the Forge of Afterlives.
Shandris Feathermoon says: These obelisks appear to channel the Forge's power. The remaining ones must be protected!
The Mawsworn seem intent on meddling with these powerful obelisks. Even if you don't quite know their purpose, one thing is clear. If the Mawsworn wish to destroy them, then it's imperative you find a way to protect them.
Shandris Feathermoon
We have discovered their immediate goal. We should return to our allies, quickly.
Shandris leaves to report your discoveries to Bolvar, while you make your way to Highlord Darion Mograine. (

Shandris Feathermoon
These obelisks must be key to Zovaal's plans. Even without full knowledge of their purpose, we should stop the Mawsworn from meddling with them.
I will bring this information to Highlord Bolvar. Head to Darion Mograine and do the same. He will need to plan his defenses around this.
Darion's forces seem strained.
Highlord Darion Mograine
The enemy has not yet been able to break through our defending line, but I fear we will lose the battle without your assistance.
They could still use some help thinning the enemy's numbers. (

Highlord Darion Mograine
Our forces have been holding out so far, but we have not secured the area. We could use some assistance cutting down the enemy's numbers.
This should be a simple task for you, Maw Walker.
The Highlord also asks you to keep an eye out for wounded covenant members. (

Highlord Darion Mograine
The four covenants are working together here along with the automa.
Unfortunately, some of our soldiers have been separated or wounded and are unable to return back here.
If you could aid them, that would help tremendously.
Once you return, Darion thanks you for your help.
Highlord Darion Mograine
We must remain vigilant. No one may pass our defenses
The fewer losses we suffer here, the longer we can hold the line.
As he does, a tremor resonates through the area, shaking the earth as you hear a rumble in the distance. You need to investigate. (

Highlord Darion Mograine
That sound! It came from the direction of the obelisk at Provis Flora.
Impossible. We've let no one through. Hurry, <name>. Follow me!
As you reach the obelisk, you see Kin'tessa hovering overhead - she's controlling a guardian Automa with domination magic, using it to destroy the Harmonic Channel. Darion calls on the nearby Ebon Blade to attack, but they transform, revealing themselves to be Dreadlords. Though you do your best in the chaos, you are too late to save the obelisk, and Kin'tessa turns the dominated Automa on you before fleeing the scene.
Highlord Darion Mograine says: She's dominating that creature! Ebon Blade, stop her at once!
Highlord Darion Mograine says: Dreadlords... of course. Maw Walker, to me!
Kin'tessa says: You're already too late!
Highlord Darion Mograine says: No--we must not let her escape!
Kin'tessa yells: Poor mortals... still a step behind, hmm? Now--destroy them!
Darion is understandably concerned about the presence of Dreadlords.
Highlord Darion Mograine
They managed to hide themselves. This bodes poorly for us.
Bolvar will need to be informed right away. (

Highlord Darion Mograine

I cannot leave my position here. Quickly, give him the news. Perhaps the Enlightened council will have advice as well.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
Mograine will have the forces he needs.
In Haven, you find
长者克勒斯
particularly disturbed by the reports of the attacks on the obelisks.
Shandris Feathermoon says: If the obelisks fall, the Mawsworn will gain access to the Sepulcher.
Elder Kreth says: What? No! The Sepulcher is the most sacred of places! This cannot happen--you must stop this!
Bolvar is surprised by Darion's request. (

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
Mograine's request for reinforcements is unusual. We were already planning on reinforcing the area, and sent three different outfits his way.

He also asks you to take the

and use it to test any Automa you find out in the field. (

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
If we are dealing with dreadlords, they could be disguised as anything... including the denizens of Zereth Mortis. Fortunately we have just the thing for dispelling their illusions.
Search the fields and test the automa. If you find any dreadlords, take care of them.
Oddly, Elder Kreth seems to think you're responsible for tampering with certain nodes. (
谁犯错,谁改过
)
Elder Kreth
Provis Fauna is normally regulated by autonomous constructs, but there have been reports that they are no longer working.
According to the reports, you are the one responsible for the tampering of these nodes. Which means it is on you to fix them. Take this tuner, it should help--and once they are repaired, do not meddle with them again.
As you hand out Bolvar's orders, you quickly realize something is off.
阿瓦泽尔
seems angered that you've been wasting his time.
阿洛尼斯
, though not quite so brash, is clearly confused.
女猎手莱姬尔
is polite, but firm as she chastises you for not, apparently, being able to make up your mind. It's clear that all three groups of reinforcements intended for Darion seem to believe they were issued conflicting orders by you, and that's why they never reached him.
Your presence is requested immediately at Provis Terra.
Ava'zer says: It was you who ordered us to come here. A disrespectful waste of time.
Alonis says: A change in direction so soon? ...as you command.
Huntress Laikeer says: But you're the one who sent us here in the first place! Respectfully, perhaps you should make up your mind.
Kreth is once again mollified.
Elder Kreth
With the defenses working again, hopefully the Mawsworn presence diminishes.
Bolvar is confused by the reports that you bring him, but at least you've sorted out some of the Dreadlords.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
They claimed you gave them their previous orders? Strange.
That should slow down their plans. Good work, Maw Walker.
Still, something is clearly wrong, and Bolvar instructs you to check on the obelisk at the Circle of Thought right away. (
双身对决
)
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
Something about this doesn't sit right with me. From what you reported, this seems like intentional sabotage from within our ranks... or the work of more dreadlords.
If dreadlords are involved, then the obelisk may be at risk! Get to it--if we linger on this it may be too late!
As you arrive, a shocking sight meets your eyes - it's you!
A Dreadlord infiltrator, of course, and once you attack, the culprit reveals himself to be none other than
玛尔加尼斯
. Though it seems he will easily outmatch you,
吉安娜·普罗德摩尔
and
贝恩·血蹄
arrive just in time to help, and the Dreadlord decides to flee, claiming to have only been stalling for the Jailer's "champion".
Mal'Ganis (disguised as you) says: Surprised?
Mal'Ganis (disguised as you) says: If I truly replaced you, would anyone notice?
Baine Bloodhoof says: Champion, it seems you could use some assistance.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Mal'Ganis! I should have known you were meddling in this.
Mal'Ganis says: Ah, Lady Proudmoore. A pity you did not come sooner--but I have stalled long enough for Zovaal's 'champion'. Farewell.
Lore Spotlight: Mal'Ganis
The Dreadlord Mal'Ganis has a long and important history with the world of Azeroth that reaches all the way back to the events of Warcraft III. Back then, he was charged with corrupting Arthas Menethil. He accomplished this by taking advantage of Arthas's Pride, constantly goading the Prince until he was prepared to do whatever it takes to defeat the Dreadlord. It was Mal'Ganis who lead Arthas to Stratholme, leading to the infamous decision to purge the city. Mal'Ganis also drew Arthas to Northrend, where he picked up Frostmourne, completing his corruption.
Players discovered Mal'Ganis had infiltrated Prince Renethal's inner circle during The Unseen Guests, a chapter from 9.1's Chains of Domination storyline. Mal'Ganis was discovered and imprisoned - but not before succeeding in his plan to rescue Sire Denathrius.
The Dreadlord could not be held for long, and by the end of Chains of Domination, he escaped.
Jaina may remember Mal'ganis - she saw first-hand how he manipulated Arthas.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore
Mal'ganis...
We are losing this race.
She has brought you news: There have been sightings of
安度因·乌瑞恩
on the bridge near the Forge of Afterlives.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: The champion Mal'Ganis was speaking of must be Anduin!
You need to leave immediately, and Jaina uses magic whirlpools to transport you there quickly. (

)
Lady Jaina Proudmoore
We made our way here as soon as we could. Anduin has been sighted near the structure in the middle of this land, referred to as the Forge of Afterlives.
No doubt the Jailer will join him soon. We need to leave immediately.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: My apologies if you find this form of travel... uncomfortable.
Baine Bloodhoof says: If we can reach Anduin in time, perhaps we can break the Jailer's hold on him.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: I hope so... but we must be cautious. After he struck down the Arbiter, the Jailer was able to dominate us in an instant.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: If Anduin is alone, then we may have a chance.
You arrive to find Anduin holding a strange creature, an Oracle, in a Domination spell. Behind him, a portal opens and the Jailer steps through. As Anduin finishes the spell, the Oracle is transformed - it has become Mawsworn. At the Jailer's command, the Oracle destroys the Harmonic Channel obelisk before it - seemingly activating the Forge of Afterlives as a beam of light shoots from it. Powerless, you watch as the Jailer, triumphant, takes the gateway the Forge seems to have opened to the
初诞者圣墓
, before sealing the way behind him.
The Oracle says: The melody fades... I await your voice.
The Jailer says: Open the way.
The Jailer says: The Sepulcher's secrets will be mine.
The Jailer says: Come.
Jaina hates seeing Anduin Dominated by the Jailer.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore
Anduin...
We'll save you somehow.
There's not much else to do but return to Haven. (
寻庇安谧港
)
Lady Jaina Proudmoore
I am at a loss.
We have no way to follow Zovaal and Anduin. I'll open a portal back to Haven. We'll discuss our next steps there.
As she opens a portal for you to take, Jaina mentions sensing a familiar presence in Anduin's blade. She seems for a moment that she would like to say more... however, there is no time for that now. The threat of the Jailer achieving his goal is too great.
Baine Bloodhoof says: What have they done to the Forge?! We must find a way to follow them! Jaina? Are you all right?
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Anduin's blade... I sense something familiar. A presence within it...
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: There's no time to ponder it now. We have to tell Bolvar what's happened.
Though Zovaal blocked the way behind him, Bolvar is sure there must be another way into the Sepulcher of the First Ones, and swears that you will find it, and put an end to the Jailer's plans once and for all.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
We will look into how to follow them into the Sepulcher. Until then, you should focus your efforts on more immediate issues.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: The Jailer may have sealed the way behind him, but this land is full of mysteries.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: There must be another means to enter the Sepulcher. We will not rest until we find it.

We have done all we can about the Jailer for now, my friend.
Other matters require our attention. Like the devourer rifts I recently saw opening to the east!
If we do not stop them, those beasts will wreak havoc on this place.
Will you help me take care of them, <name>?
Kleia says: Pelagos, are you certain you do not need my assistance?
Pelagos says: Stop worrying, I am fine. Besides, the Maw Walker will be with me.
Kleia says: You are right. I will watch over Haven while you're away. Good luck!
As you approach the area with the devourers, you hear a voice, calling out in the musical language the Automa of Zereth Mortis use. Though you can't make out what it's saying, it sounds distressed.
Pelagos says: By the Archon, devourers have completely overrun this place!
??? yells: <strange symbols>
Pelagos says: Did you hear that, Maw Walker? I think someone is trapped. We must help!
You follow the voice until you come to a door, badly damaged and jammed closed, the bodies of devourers and Automa piled up in front of it.

Pelagos says: Over there! She must be the one calling for help!
Oracle says: <strange symbols>
Oracle says: ... assist...
Pelagos says: Wait, I understood that! Yes, we are here to help you.
Pelagos says: Look out, more devourers. Ready yourself!
More devourers attack, and you do your best to fight them off the wounded Oracle, but she seems overcome. After a last, desperate plea that you help her restore the Shadowlands, the Oracle falls to the floor, unconscious.
Oracle says: <strange symbols>
Oracle says: ... must... restore...
Pelagos says: Help protect her, Maw Walker!
The Culler gestures hungrily at the Oracle.
Pelagos says: I think that was the last of them.
Oracle says: <strange symbols>
Oracle says: Help... restore... Shadowlands.

She has fallen, but appears to still be alive. There must be something we can do to help her.
Let us see if the Enlightened know anything. I will find some way to transport her and meet you back in Haven.
Pelagos says: Maybe the Enlightened can help. I'll meet you in Haven, Maw Walker.
You arrive in Haven to find the Elders bristling at what they seem to consider sacrilegious claims.
Elder Kreth says: Foolish Kyrian! You do not understand what you are meddling with!
Pelagos says: But she asked for our help!
Elder Zoor says: Nonsense! An oracle would never gift her words upon your kind.
Pelagos says: I speak the truth! Tell them, Maw Walker!
As far as the Elders are concerned, an Oracle is a creature of the First Ones, and therefore sacred. They simply refuse to believe one would have asked you and Pelagos for help, and view any attempts to understand more as meddling with forbidden knowledge. In fact,
长者克勒斯
reminds you that the Enlightened have banished Brokers from their ranks for the crime of seeking such knowledge.
You have aided this land greatly by defending against the Mawsworn, but it is not your place to meddle with the servants of the First Ones.
Turn back from this path.
Pelagos speaks the truth
Regardless of what you think you heard, nothing has changed. The creations of the First Ones defy comprehension.
Those among us who sought such knowledge are now banished. We will not assist you in this folly.
Pelagos is frustrated.
That was unhelpful...
He determines to seek out

If the Elders will not assist us, we must find someone who will.
That other Enlightened, Firim... he was much more interested in the automa.
He said he was estranged from his kin. Someone in Haven must know something about him.
Look around the camp for clues about Firim's whereabouts. I will try again to convince the Elders to talk.
Pelagos says: Well, if you won't help us, what about Firim? Perhaps you could tell us where he stays?
Elder Kreth says: Do not speak of the Exile!
In a pile of unattended books, you come across a letter from
长者亚莱
to a Broker named
法卢乌
, cautioning him against meddling with the creations of the First Ones. She reminds him that the way of the Enlightened is only to study, not to touch.
Dearest Faruu,
As per my last missive, the feedback on your recent research into the Plain of Actualization remains the same: while I am certain you did not intend to imply error on the part of the Automa, your methodology and prose leave much room for misinterpretation.
Your additional notes on activity around the Sepulcher, while fascinating, only further obfuscate your point. To that end, you should be aware that the Sepulcher is off limits.
Allow me to kindly remind you of our latest conversation about meddling in the intent and creations of the First Ones. We observe. We study. We do not touch.
I advise caution, lest you follow the path of the Exile,
Regards,
Elder Ara
As you reach for a bundle of writings near Haven's ancient translocator,
监护者迦力尔
does not seem to appreciate your nosiness, but you only find
Wayfinder Ros
's notes on traveling in Zereth Mortis.
Custodian Kalir says: Hey! Mind your business!
You do, however, note the interesting tidbit that Farim resides near a similar translocator, apparently in the west.
After a thorough examination of the Raptora in the area, I do not believe they are fit to bear travelers across Zereth Mortis without unacceptable levels of training.
Therefore, these strange devices scattered throughout will have to do. It is a shame the Exile took up residence near the westernmost one. Elder Kreth may be unhappy about us making use of these, but I have convinced him it is better than disturbing sacred ground and possibly disrupting the wildlife and Automa wherever we pass.

Item List:
3 vombata saddle adjustments for Varoun
7 tools for Banit's stock
15 new staves for the guards
Assorted dishes and seating for Anap's caravan
(These new travellers seem to have decided it is an inn of sorts. Which would be fine if they did not make such a mess.)
As you hunt through assorted scrolls,
巴尼特
is quite reproachful when you come across a recipe.
Banit says: That recipe is a trade secret.
Unfortunately, though special, the recipe is really only of use to Vombatta enthusiasts.
Vombawafer Recipe:
Three hexagonal leaves
One scoop primordial starch
Two splashes water from the Dimensional Falls
One handful of your vombata's favorite berries
Grind berries and leaves together, then toss with the starch. Knead to form a dough, and sprinkle with water from the Dimensional Falls to rise.
Roll dough into balls and mold them into a pleasant shape. Roast using fire spell of your choice.
Offer to your vombata for infinite appreciation!
You finally find what you're looking for when you come across some undelivered mail - a letter addressed to Haven's Elders. In the letter, the writer seems concerned about Firim, and declares his intention to seek him out - west of the Forge of Afterlives.
<You find a discarded letter here.>
Honorable Elders,
I write to implore you to reconsider the fate of Firim. While I agree that his curiosities got the better of him, I am unsure if we were justified in his exile.
With the gates to Zereth Mortis open, I fear what else may come through to threaten us. Despite his recklessness, Firim's knowledge may be able to help.
I have heard he was last seen west of the Forge. I will seek him out there.
By Their Will,

You bring the letter that you find in the undelivered mail to Pelagos.
The elders refuse to say anything about Firim.

You found something? What luck! May I see the letter?
So, an Enlightened named Xevveth heard that Firim was last seen west of the Forge of the Afterlives, and went to go seek him out.
We should begin our search there.
Kleia says: Do not worry, I will watch over this oracle while you search.
Pelagos says: Thank you, Kleia.
On your journey, you catch sight of

Pelagos says: Hey there! Stop!
Pelagos says: Who was that? We should see what they were after.
As you examine the body, you find a map. It seems you aren't the only ones searching for Firim's hideout.
Pelagos says: The poor soul. Though, what are they holding? A map to Firim's hideout? Let us hope the assassin did not see this.
You follow the map until you come across a cave entrance, covered by a strange light - similar to the dome that protects Haven.
Pelagos says: Look! The light here is the same as the one that hides Haven. This is surely where we will find Farim.
As you enter the cave, you're caught by the same magical cages that bound you as you entered Haven. Though Firim quickly recognizes you're not assassins, he seems irritated that you've helped lead them to him - the assassin you saw on the road lies dead on the floor.
Firim says: More assassins? Stop wasting my time!
Firim says: Wait, I know you... yes, my friends from the Vestibule.
Pelagos says: Hello again, we need your help...
Firim says: My help? You've led the assassins right to me! I'm the one that should be helped.
Those assassins are after more than just my life. They wish to steal my research! I cannot let them have it.
Firim demands you help deal with the trouble you've brought him by slaying the three assassins directly outside. (
隐匿的访客
)
Ever since you opened the way from Oribos, certain cartels have taken the opportunity to come after me and my work in a rather... lethal fashion. They know how important my research is to everything.
More assassins are sure to follow, what with you blazing a clear path right to me!
I cannot get them all. You need to fix this and help protect my secrets.
Take care of them for me.
You'll also need to reset the traps he's placed around his home. (
安保措施
)
It seems the hidden traps I placed around the grotto are not as effective as I would like, considering your presence in my home.
However, they are still useful in preventing the majority of unwanted attention.
Since you so kindly brought assassins to me, I cannot reset the traps myself.
So you will need you to do it for me while I stay here and guard both myself and my precious research. Use this Sensory Synchronizer I placed nearby to show you which traps need to be reset.
As you head out to take care of these tasks, Pelagos tries to explain about the Oracle - but Firim is nearly as dismissive as the Elders of Haven.
Pelagos says: We are sorry to have brought trouble to you, but we have found an oracle...
Firim says: Bah! As if one would ever notice you! I'll believe it when I see it.
Pelagos says: It's true! Maw Walker, please help him while I retrieve the oracle from Haven.
You lay the traps and find and slay the assassins, who all seem to be from Cartel Xy, while they make last desperate attempts to get information about Firim out of you.
Xy'anath says: What secrets is Al’firim hiding?!
Xy'anath says: His secrets... will be ours...
Xy'bok says: We know he has the information we seek!
Xy'bok says: Xy... will be... the first...
Xy'varek says: Where is Al’firim?!
Xy'varek says: Al’firim... will be... found...
By the time you arrive back in Firim's sanctuary, Pelagos has managed to fetch the Oracle from Haven - much to Firim's surprise.
Firim says: By the First Ones! It is an oracle! But what has happened to her?
Pelagos says: We found her under attack. Unfortunately, we were too late to save her.
I suppose you have proven to be useful. Thank you.
Good. That should shield us from notice for a while.
Firim is amazed - and eager to learn more. (
请开尊口
)
You truly brought me an oracle! Intact even!
I have never known these divine beings to speak to anyone but automa. There is so much we could learn from her about Zereth Mortis.
You must tell me everything!
Pelagos describes how you found the Oracle, and that she mentioned a core. After some thought, Firim produces the
原始之核
you helped him obtain soon after you first reached Zereth Mortis. As he releases the core from its cage, the Oracle awakens briefly and reaches out, transforming the core into a small, orb-like Automa.
<Tell Firim about the oracle.>
Pelagos says: Before she fell into this state, she mentioned a core. Do you know what that could mean?
Firim says: Intriguing. I wonder...
Firim says: Wait here. The core we found earlier... Hmm...
The Automa rushes straight for a console at the back of Farim's cave, then waits, bouncing up and down excitedly.
Firim says: How fascinating! What a perculiar automa!
Mysterious Automa whirrs strangely.
Firim says: Firim says: Oh! What is this? What is it looking at?
The
神秘的自动体
seems to want you to use the console. As you examine it, Farim tells you that he's never been able to get it to work, but the little Automa seems to have a plan. Clearly excited, it rushes off.
Firim says: This console? I never could get to work...
Mysterious Automa seems to be thinking.
Mysterious Automa whirrs in excitement and runs off!
Firim says: Hey! Where are you going?!
Firim says: ...and it's gone. Perhaps in search of more consoles like this one! We should follow it.
Astounding!
Firim believes the Automa has gone out to find more consoles, similar to the one in his cave. Perhaps it will help you decipher them. (

)
There are many consoles such as that one scattered throughout Zereth Mortis.
They have all been beyond my understanding, but perhaps that creature intends to reveal their meaning to us?
Fortunately, I know where there are more. I will mark them on your map, and accompany you... for research purposes.
Let us see what this creature's purpose is.
Pelagos says: I will stay here and keep watch in case the oracle wakes up. Be safe.
Together, you visit the markers Firim placed in the west, the southwest, and the south. As you examine each console, the mysterious little Automa seems somehow to interpret them - at least in part. Gradually, some of the strange patterns that make up the musical language of the Automa of Zerith Mortis seem to become legible, until you can even make out some words.
Firim says: Interesting! It seems to be interpreting the cypher in some way!
Mysterious Automa whirrs happily.
Firim says: Look, some of the words can be clearly understood! How brilliant, we are uncovering new secrets!
Firim says: More knowledge uncovered! I feel we are tantalizingly close to a revelation.
Firim says: It is trying to find something. We must be close!
Firim says: Yes, everything is coming together! Come, there is one last place we must go.
There's one more location left to visit - inside a cave. As you arrive, you find the mysterious Automa has gotten itself into trouble. A
渊狂元狼
has the poor little thing cornered.
Firim says: Our little friend is in danger! Help it!
You eliminate the threat and turn your attention to the object that has the little Automa's attention. As you examine it, you seem to attune to it - and somehow you find yourself understanding more than you did before.
Firim says : Ahh, the final piece of the puzzle! Let us see what it does now.
Firim says: Astounding! The brilliance! The patterns!
Firim says: You see it too, yes? Come, let us go back to my home. There will be more there.
You have gained a glimpse of knowledge unimaginable. Now, to make use of it.
You return to Firim's hideout, where the little Automa makes it clear it wants you to interact with the console again. (

The way is not quite clear, but the first steps have been made.
It seems the divine construct has taken more of a liking to you than to me.
Now that it has given you the beginnings of understanding, see what else it wishes to show you.
The results should be enlightening.
This time, you find you have a little more understanding of both how it works, and of Zereth Mortis itself. Your newfound knowledge helps you to reveal the Automa's name - it is called
波可波克
, and it seems to have grown quite attached to you.
Firim says: You have been chosen, mortal. Look, it wants to show you something at that console!
Firim is quite taken with little Pocapoc, and impresses on you the significance of an Automa like this forming a bond with you.
Firim says: Pocapoc... quite a name, little one. With it as your companion, the secrets of Zereth Mortis shall unfold before you. You are truly blessed, Maw Walker.
Can't you feel the knowledge you've gained coursing through you?!
To think it is you who will unlock the secrets of Zereth Mortis...
I will be watching you very closely.
While Pelagos remains behind to look after the Oracle, you return to Haven. (

I see you have a new friend, Maw Walker!
With Pocopoc at your side, I wonder what else you will discover about Zereth Mortis? The secrets we uncover here will be of great help against the Jailer. Perhaps they can teach us how to awaken this oracle.
Highlord Bolvar will surely want to hear of them.
Please go to Haven and inform him. There is a transporter just outside the cave you may want to use.
I will remain here and keep watch over the oracle.
You bring the news of all that has transpired to

You have returned, Maw Walker. What news do you have for me?
Bolvar is pleased to hear of your progress, and promises to pass your news on to the Primus.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: You have begun to unravel the mysteries of Zereth Mortis. Now we must put this knowledge to use.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: I will inform the Primus of your discoveries. His insights will be invaluable.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Yet more remains to be done. Continue to explore this land. Any new information you find may help us turn the tide against the Jailer.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: No. The risk is too great, Uther.
Uther the Lightbringer says: There will be no further treachery. I will see to it.
Uther the Lightbringer
I bear important news that will grant us insight into the Jailer's methods.
With faith and understanding, we may also execute true justice.
There is much we should discuss, Hero.
Cinematic Analysis: Shattered Legacies
You approach Uther and ask him to tell you what happened.
Uther has brought news of
希尔瓦娜斯·风行者
, who has been held in custody in
奥利波斯
since the
统御圣所
raid. In the
raid finale
, we witnessed Sylvanas finally defy
典狱长
just before he left for
扎雷殁提斯
. As a punishment, Zovaal returned a shard of Sylvanas's soul to her - the shard that was torn from her soul when she died.

When Zovaal returned this fragment of soul to Sylvanas, the conflict within was immediately so great, she fell unconscious. The shard - horrified to discover what has happened since it was torn from Sylvanas - was unable to accept that it could be part of the same soul. For as long as Sylvanas's soul remained divided like this - she was unable to wake.
Uther: Sylvanas's soul has been fractured, from the moment of her death... until now.
Sylvanas: Burn it!
Sylvanas: This was their home... and you slaughtered all of them!
Sylvanas: How could you take all those innocent lives!
Sylvanas: This was beyond life and death!
Sylvanas: There was no other path to true freedom.
Sylvanas: How can you not see that!?
Sylvanas: I see what you are.
Sylvanas: Murderer!
Sylvanas: Monster!
Sylvanas: Butcher!
Sylvanas: Why can I not escape this torment!
At first, when Uther explained this to the rest of our leaders in Oribos, there was some debate about whether or not she even should be allowed to wake. However, Sylvanas helped to dominate
安度因·乌瑞恩
. If we are to save her, we may need her help.
Uther: The Jailer has severed their bond, and condemned her to endlessly relive her atrocities.
Uther: So long as her soul remains divided, she cannot wake.
Baine: Maybe she shouldn't.
Bolvar: She's the only one who knows the Jailer's plan, and how we might save Anduin.
Jaina: She's the one that turned Anduin.
Thrall: Jaina is right. How can we possibly trust her?
Uther, however, knows what it's like to have a soul fragmented and in conflict, and what it's like to be manipulated by the Jailer. He decided to invite the conflicted fragment of Sylvanas's soul into his own memory, to try help her find peace with herself. At first, Sylvanas argued, but once he showed her how he, too, was divided, she became willing to listen.
Uther: Her wound runs so much deeper... than mine.
Uther: Well met, Ranger-General
Sylvanas: W-What is this?
Sylvanas: Who are you?
Uther: Someone who shared your fate, felled by the blade of the very same prince.
Sylvanas: Arthas.
Sylvanas: I died trying to stop that monster, only to wake up haunted by one with my face.
Uther: That banshee... is you.
Sylvanas: No. I cannot accept that.
Uther: Her path began where yours ended, and you've seen the decisions she made.
Sylvanas: Never in a thousand lifetimes would I betrayed everything I stood for!
Sylvanas: You can't possibly understand.
Uther sighs.
Uther reminded Sylvanas that the Jailer returned her soul to her for this exact purpose - because he believed she would never be able to find peace. He challenged her to prove him wrong, to choose helping to defeat the Jailer over denying her own self. After that, he left her fragmented soul to grapple with herself.
In the final scene, Sylvanas opened her eyes. Even though it means acknowledging and accepting the consequences of unforgivable actions, she has chosen to fully accept herself. Sylvanas is whole - and conscious - again.
Uther: The Jailer is deceptively cunning. When I realized I had become his pawn, it nearly destroyed me. He had no doubts it would destroy you as well. Was he right?
Uther: Or will you accept her shattered legacy and tell us how to stop him?
Sylvanas: Her crimes... are unforgivable.
Uther: Yes.
Sylvanas: And she...
Sylvanas: Burn it!
Sylvanas: ...I must face the consequences.
Uther: We cannot change the past, and we may never find forgiveness in the future... but inaction damns us all. Time is short, Ranger-General. Make your choice.
Uther: I've done all I can.

Lore Spotlight: Soul Fragments
During A New Path, a chapter from the Chains of Domination storyline, we learned about souls that had been permanently damaged by Frostmourne - such as Uther's own soul. When a Mournblade is wielded in anger, it has the power to shatter a soul into fragments. The Jailer held a shard of Uther's soul, which we helped to retrieve from Torghast. From
Sylvanas and Vereesa Windrunner's story
in
Folks & Fairy Tales of Azeroth
, we know that the Jailer has held this shard of Sylvanas's soul since her death - and that it may very well be why she went directly to the Maw - rather than Ardenweald - when she died during the short story
Edge of Night
.
It's important to note these fragment souls are not souls that have been split in two. In a conversation with Uther at the end of Chains of Domination, he explained that his soul "was not divided into one part that was noble and another that was cruel" but rather that it was as if a portion of his soul "remained frozen in time" while the rest of his consciousness carried on.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
Sylvanas's experience may be intrinsic to Anduin's fate.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
The fate of Sylvanas is not my immediate priority.
The Jailer has destroyed the Harmonic Channels, ensuring that we cannot follow him.
Perhaps the studious Enlightened Brokers know something about these channels that will help us--but broker cooperation comes often with strings attached.
Do whatever they demand. We must learn more.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: We cannot defeat the Jailer without help from the Enlightened.
One by one, you approach Haven's Elders.
长者祖厄

长者克勒斯
are as unhelpful as ever, but
长者亚莱
is more open minded.
We need your assistance.
Elder Zoor says: Blasphemy! Your interference will cause far more harm than good.
Elder Kreth says: Stop asking for favors you cannot return.
Elder Ara says: I will help you... if you help me.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Elder Ara, we are in your debt. What do you suggest?
Elder Ara says: I believe a pilgrimage is in order.
Elder Ara
Zereth Mortis has the answers you seek.
If you know where to look.
Ara suggests you and she visit the area where you last saw Anduin and the Jailer - a place called Provis Esper, near the Forge of Afterlives - the large sphere that hovers above the center of the realm. (
多元一统
)
Elder Ara
The other Elders follow a strict interpretation of how best to honor the works of the First Ones.
I am not so inflexible. Our end goal is the same.
Let us return to the area where you last saw the Jailer.
Elder Ara says: I will travel ahead. Meet me outside of Provis Esper.
Elder Ara says: The Forge. Majestic, is it not?
Elder Ara
The site below is crawling with devourers. But you can manage, yes?
Ravaged by Mawsworn and overrun by devourers, Provis Esper is in a sorry state - but Elder Ara believes that you might still be able to find some fragments of First Ones' power. (
初诞者的残迹
)
Elder Ara
Some evidence of the Mawsworn's destruction may remain in Provis Esper. Recovering that evidence will provide some clue as to how to follow this Jailer.
Let us hunt together. I will know the sign of the First Ones's magic when we are in its vicinity.
She also asks that you help cleanse the area of the destructive devourers. (
夺回魂灵供给扇区

Elder Ara
Provis Esper is overrun with devourers, buzzing around like hungry vespoids.
They are destroying the local automa, which is not at all what the First Ones intended. A cleansing is in order.
For our safety and to restore the natural order, clear some of them out.
As Ara expected, you soon come across a
传导残迹
in the possession of
窃魂者萨雷纳克
, a Maw-corrupted Automa.
Elder Ara says: That automa... what is it holding?
Xarenak the Soulstealer says: <...>
Xarenak the Soulstealer says: <...>
Elder Ara says: Ahh, that looks important.
You hunt around and find two more fragments, one under some rubble, and one in the beak of a
行窃的元鸟
.
Elder Ara says: Up ahead! I think I see something amidst the rubble.
Elder Ara says: Look, up there! That avian is carrying something in its beak.
Though they're only fragments, Elder Ara believes they can still be the key to unlocking the way to the Sepulcher.
Elder Ara
Only inert remnants, unfortunately.
But do not lose hope, my friend!
More devourers will come, but you have lessened their impact for now.
She suggests you bring them to Pilgrim's Grace, a sacred site for the Enlightened. (
朝圣之旅
)
Elder Ara
Pilgrim's Grace is a sacred site for the Enlightened. The Elders there have an intimate understanding of the creations of the First Ones.
We will find answers there about these strange remnants we have found.
Meet me at Pilgrim's Grace. It is not far.
Elder Ara
Welcome to Pilgrim's Grace.
Almost as soon as you arrive in Pilgrim's Grace, Ara notices your fragments have begun to glow. (
注视辉光
)
Elder Ara
Look, <name>. The remnants are faintly glowing!
They must be reacting to something in Pilgrim's Grace.
Find out what is causing this reaction!
Elder Ara says: Take the fragments to wherever they glow the brightest.
Following Ara's advice works, and the fragments lead you to an Ancient Translocator, similar to the ones in Haven and outside
菲历姆
's hideout. As you approach, the fragments fly out of your hands and seem to attach themselves to the device.
The fragments snap onto the Ancient Translocator!
Elder Ara says: Ah, the fragments are reacting to this translocator.
Elder Ara says: Perhaps now you can use the device!
Unfortunately, the damage done to the fragments seems to be too much. As you reach for the device, they fall to the ground, rendering it useless again.
<Touch the Ancient Translocator.>
The fragments fade and tumble to the ground.
Elder Ara says: It is... not working? Hmm.
Elder Ara says: Nothing is easy. Well then, retrieve the fragments.
Elder Ara
So the remnants have something to do with the translocator. But what?
Whatever their prior function, they have no power now.
Luckily, if there's anyone who can restore the fragments, they'll be in Pilgrim's Rest. (
条条大路通圣地
)
Elder Ara
If the remnants can be restored, someone in Pilgrim's Grace may know how.
Begin with Elder Nirav. I hope he is willing to help. He seems anxious and distracted today.
Find me in town when you are done.
You speak to
长者奈拉夫
, but something seems to be worrying him too much to be able to stop and help you, so you approach
法卢乌
, who recognizes the fragments as part of a translocator key - though obviously broken in its current state. Finally, you speak with
得历姆
, who tells you
非罗兹
is the Broker you want. Unfortunately, he's gone missing... along with several other Pilgrims.
I need to restore this artifact.
Elder Nirav says: Apologies. I am preoccupied
Faruu says: Ah! I believe you have found parts of a translocator key. At least, that is what we have called them.
Faruu says: From what we surmise, they channel the energy that flows from the Creation Catalyst to the Forge.
Faruu says: A fascinating artifact... but I doubt it can function with the Forge in its current state.
Drim says: Feroz is the most knowledgeable of us in such matters.
Drim says: He believed that anything could be restored atop the Creation Catalyst.
Drim says: I should say... believes, not believed. I maintain hope that he has not met his demise.
Ara can see why Nirav is so worried. The missing Pilgrims were last seen journeying to the Catalyst Wards, but have not been heard from since. She sends
拉提夫
to ask Haven for more help.
Elder Ara says: Latif, tell the Elders in Haven about the fate of our pilgrims. They must send help!
Latif says: At once, Elder Ara.
Elder Ara
Feroz is our best bet? And he has gone missing along with several other pilgrims?
We should hurry.
Even with help on its way, there's no time to wait. You need to try find the Pilgrims as soon as you can. (
杂草丛生
)
Elder Ara
I understand now why Elder Nirav is filled with worry.
Many of the pilgrims who have journeyed to the Catalyst Wards have not returned. This includes Feroz, who is most likely to have information we need to restore the remnants.
Prepare yourself. The First Ones' newest creations are prevalent at the Catalyst. If something has gone wrong there, it could be tragically dangerous.
You meet Ara just outside the Catalyst Wards - she has already found Feroz. Thankfully, he is alive and well, but he has bad news. The rest of the Pilgrims on his expedition haven't been so lucky.
Elder Ara says: Where have you been? I found Feroz!
Feroz says: You must help the others. They are trapped inside!
Elder Ara
Feroz explained what happened to the missing pilgrims.
They are trapped inside the Catalyst Wards!
The area is in chaos. Something seems to have caused unchecked growth in the local plants, causing them to become powerful and aggressive. They've blocked the entrance to the Catalyst Wards, and are even growing over and taking control of the local Automa.
Pilgrims are still trapped by the hostile vines. Feroz begs you to help save them. (

I ran, scrambling through the thorny foliage, the lashers snapping at my heels.
My fellow pilgrims were not so lucky. I could hear their screams of pain and horror as I fled.
You must find a way inside. Rescue them, <name>!
Feroz also asks you to bring him samples of
充能之根
. (

)
I suspect we can harness the growth energy present in these plants for our own purposes, but I will need fresh samples.
You can harvest energized plant matter from any of the lashers or vine-choked automa nearby, or those inside the Catalyst Wards.
Elder Ara asks you to destroy
培育者
, an Automa that has already killed several Pilgrims. (
扼阻苞蕾
)
Elder Ara
The Catalyst Wards used to be peaceful. Pilgrims have been coming here for ages to observe the wonders of the First Ones. But this place is no longer safe. The Cultivator showed no mercy and no reason as it slew several of our brethren.
You must destroy it.
Other Elders would disagree with me. The other Elders are wrong.
Feroz says: The entrance to the Catalyst Wards is blocked with vines.
Elder Ara says: You must find a way in.
Elder Ara says: Meet us at the Gardens when you are done.
Once these tasks are complete, you meet up with Feroz and Elder Ara in the Catalyst Gardens.
I cannot thank you enough for rescuing the pilgrims who could be saved.
Have you recovered the energized plant matter?
Elder Ara
Putting the Cultivator down was the right call.
Almost immediately, the help from Haven arrives in the form of
娜德佳,迷雾之刃
and
德莱文将军
.
Feroz says: Who is that?
General Draven says: Maw Walker!
General Draven says: I came the moment Bolvar notified me.
Nadjia the Mistblade says: WE came, Draven. We.
Draven points out the floating tower-like structure floating above the Catalyst Gardens and explains it is the Creation Catalyst, but it can't be accessed because it's being overloaded with energy. If you can get to a pair of consoles in the garden, you can use them to discharge the energy, making it safe for Draven to reach the tower - Nadjia volunteers to come with you. (
能量释放
)
General Draven
That floating structure looming overhead is the Creation Catalyst.
I cannot get close to it. The tower is overloaded with an excess of Progenitor energy. To travel there now would be suicide.
There are consoles in the gardens that can be used to discharge that energy. Do so.
General Draven says: Do not let your guard down, Maw Walker.
Nadjia the Mistblade says: My blade is yours.
Feroz has managed to create a
草药合剂
from the roots you brought him. (
草药疗法
)
Using the roots you collected, I have crafted a concoction that, in theory, will cause the plants to revert to their natural state.
Hurl vials of this remedy at the lashers of the Catalyst Gardens.
If it works, wonderful! If not, you will need to deal with them more directly, by killing them.
He is also curious about how the unchecked growth energy is affecting the local Automa, and asks you to bring him samples of
复制精华
to examine. (
失控蔓生
)
This growth energy is highly unusual. I would like to know more about how it affects the local automa.
Harvest replicating essence from deceased automa in the Catalyst Gardens.
Bring it back to me for study.
Nadjia the Mistblade says: Ugh. There is sap all over my blade.
Nadjia the Mistblade says: So bright. So cheerful. I hate it.
Once the consoles are discharged, you check in with Feroz and his research,
A quasi-successful test run, but a success nonetheless.
Hmm... it replicates rapidly until it kills the host.
This is more of a curse than a gift!
And you let Draven know the way is clear.
General Draven
Well done, Maw Walker!
Without further consideration, and to Nadjia's annoyance, Draven simply flies into the air and heads for the tower. Unfortunately, he does not reach his goal, as Guardian Automa shoot him from the sky.
General Draven says: We will soon set foot upon this "Creation Catalyst".
Nadjia the Mistblade says: And now to craft a strategy...
General Draven says: The strategy is: I go first!
Nadjia the Mistblade says: Hey! Get back here!
If you're going to reach the Creation Catalyst, you'll need to clear the gardens below of guardian automa. Luckily, Feroz has created another herbal solution - one that should be able to help you harness the growth energy against them. (
植物也疯狂
)
Those guardian automa will shoot down anything that attempts to reach the Creation Catalyst.
May I suggest fighting fire with fire? Or rather, fighting the creations of the First Ones with the creation energy of the First Ones?
I have had little time to adequately test my theory, but this potion should provide the boost you need to destroy them... ideally without dying from exposure to the creation energy in the process.
Feroz says: It is working!
It was quite poetic, I think, using their own growth energy against them.
Once the way is cleared, Draven is able to ferry you across to the Creation Catalyst. (

General Draven
With those agitated automa quelled, there is but one task ahead.
We shall ferry you and your Enlightened companion up to the Creation Catalyst.
The rest is up to you.
General Draven says: Onward and upward.
General Draven says: Hold tight, Maw Walker. The sky cannot be trusted.
As you approach the console in the center of the Creation Catalyst, Elder Ara arrives, explaining that it can be used to repair First Ones' artifacts - such as your key. You place the fragments and, once you're ready, all you have to do is activate the symbols that appear in the correct order.
Elder Ara says: Many disparate things can be created or repaired with the Creation Catalyst. The tiles surrounding it must be pressed in a particular order to achieve our intended result.
Elder Ara says: I will commune directly with the catalyst. The symbols you must touch will manifest above the device.
Elder Ara says: With this act, I will break the first law of my people. A law I helped make. But my path has forked, and I must walk it.
Let's begin
Elder Ara says: You must activate the symbols in the correct order.
Elder Ara says: There! I see it!
Elder Ara says: Well done!
Elder Ara says: The next tile, quickly!
Elder Ara says: Keep it up!
Elder Ara says: A new symbol!
Elder Ara says: Correct!
Elder Ara says: There! Another!
Elder Ara says: That was right!
Elder Ara says: You have successfully restored the Translocator Key!

We have done it!
With the Translocator Key properly restored, all that remains is to head back to Pilgrim's Grace and try it out. (

Elder Ara
You have rescued many pilgrims, and I have restored your entrance to the Sepulcher. With that, our bargain is concluded--and so, too, is my pilgrimage.
But your journey continues.
Return to the overlook behind Pilgrim's Grace and open the translocator.
My thanks, <name>. This adventure has been... enlightening.
General Draven says: Did you do what was required, Maw Walker?
General Draven says: If so, this was all worth it.
As you approach the Ancient Translocator in Pilgrim's Grace, you find Bolvar, Uther, Sylvanas, and
吉安娜·普罗德摩尔
waiting for you. As before, the fragments of the now repaired key fly away from you and snap into place.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: If the Jailer has breached the Sepulcher, then he is a breath away from enacting his plan.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: We cannot allow that to happen.
The fragments snap onto the Ancient Translocator!
With the key working, you should finally have a way to reach the
初诞者圣墓
, but there is still more to consider. You approach Bolvar and ask him about the next stage of your plans.
Bolvar turns to Sylvanas and invites her to speak. She warns that the Jailer's Domination magic will be hard to resist - but that Anduin may be the key. Your focus, therefore, should be on freeing him. Though Jaina is unhappy with Sylvanas's presence, she agrees to trust Uther when he says her presence may help. Therefore, the plan is agreed upon. Once you reach the Sepulcher of the First Ones, you will focus first on releasing Anduin from the Jailer's grasp.
What next?
Uther the Lightbringer says: Tell the others what you told me.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: You all have witnessed the Jailer's power firsthand. Without the means to resist his domination, we have no chance against him.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: Anduin may be the key. If we can save him from--
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: You dare speak of freeing him after all you have done?
Uther the Lightbringer says: Sylvanas held the mourneblade that bound him. Her presence may help free Anduin from the Jailer's grasp.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: I will never trust her.
Uther the Lightbringer says: Then trust in me.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Always, Uther.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Very well. We will prepare to enter the Sepulcher and save Anduin... together.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
The next step is a large one. Are you ready, <name>?

Our friends have returned from the Sepulcher of the First Ones with a familiar face.
Anduin... What terrible things he has endured.
But as difficult and painful as it is, we must uncover what he knows. The Jailer has blocked our way within the Sepulcher, and we risk falling victim to Domination ourselves if we blindly follow.
He is our best hope.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Anduin, can you tell us anything about the Domination that the Jailer put in our way?
Anduin Wrynn says: No, I don't know how to counteract it... I... I'm sorry.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: It's all right. Rest. We will find a way.
Cinematic Analysis: Anduin Raid Finale
You speak with Anduin, who still seems quite shaken by his ordeal, and ask him to tell you about his rescue in the raid.
There is a shadow upon my mind. Like a cold hand whose fingers curl ever so softly around your heart.
Tell me what happened.
The scene that plays shows the fight against Anduin, still Dominated by the Jailer. On one side, Anduin lashing out, using Kingsmourne to shoot out Maw magic. On the other, Jaina, Uther, and Sylvanas are on the defensive, Jaina using a shield to protect from Anduin's spells. Jaina's expression is one of worry and concern. In contrast, Anduin's expression is blank. Dominated by the Jailer, his actions are not his own.
As the Jailer's voice speaks through him, Anduin drives Kingsmourne into the ground before him to unleash a wave of Maw energy. As it rises around him, Sylvanas darts forward, calling out his name, but it seems too late. The Jailer commands Anduin to fulfill his final purpose: "Annihilation". The runes of Domination on Anduin's armor glow strong, and his face is clearly in pain as Kingsmourne pulls on him. Against such force, he does not seem to have even a hope of breaking free.
The Jailer/Anduin Wrynn says: Do you not understand? This one is bound to me.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: Anduin!
The Jailer says: Fulfill your final purpose: Annihilation. The fate of all who carry my blade.
Even as he's struggling, a light begins to fall across Anduin's face. And then, suddenly, a hand rests on his shoulder. The pull of magic from the sword seems to fade away. The music, which was building to a climax, suddenly changes - a pause in the intensity as a voice breaks through. Anduin gasps, and turns to look at the spirit that's shining a light on him. It's his father, Varian Wrynn. He reminds Anduin that the blade he carries, Kingsmourne, is not just the Jailer's, but that it was Shalamayne first, a sword forged not by Domination, but through valor.
As his father reminds him of their sword's history, Anduin is still in shock when another hand lands on his shoulder, this time to his left. To his surprise - and our own - he looks up to see the spirit of Varok Saurfang is also standing over him. And so together, the spirits of Varion and Saurfang reach down further and lend their strength to Anduin as he, like they did before him, breaks Shalamayne in two.
King Varian Wrynn says: My son.
King Varian Wrynn says: This blade does not belong to darkness. It was forged by valor.
Varok Saurfang says: And also... by honor.
King Varian Wrynn says: Its legacy, and ours, are with you, even here.
Varok Saurfang says: Now, let it be finished.
As Anduin pulls the sword apart, there is a blinding flash of light, and then we see Anduin has changed. The Jailer's amor lies broken on the floor in front of him. In his hands, and we watch his transformation as the Domination magic burns away. In front of him floats a single glowing light. It is the shard of soul that was placed inside Shalamayne to transform it into the mourneblade Kingsmourne. The last scrap of soul that's left of the former Lich King: Arthas.
Sylvanas steps forward to contemplate the soul of the man who nearly destroyed her. For so long, her entire existence was encompassed with her hatred of Arthas, her need for revenge. Driven, in part, by this hatred, shehe has since done terrible things, and we are reminded that she is not absolved. She carries the burden of what she has done with her, and there will still be a judgment that she will need to face. Her story is not yet over, but Arthas's story is. In the final moments of the scene, as the last shred of Arthas that was left fades away forever, we see Uther and Jaina lower their heads - quiet mourning for the man they once knew and loved. Arthas is gone forever.
Anduin Wrynn says: Arthas...
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Is this all that remains of him?
Uther the Lightbringer says: The last flicker of his scarred spirit, consumed in the forges of the Jailer.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: No crown. No throne. Not even a soul left for judgment. I hated you, hunted you, and with each selfish act... became you. That is my burden to bear.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: But your legacy... is at an end. Begone, then, Arthas Menethil. May the last whisper of your name fade... and be forgotten.

You speak again to Bolvar, who is deeply concerned about Anduin.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
The suffering he endured...
This will be difficult to overcome.
If you have any hope of defeating the Jailer, you need to find a way to resist Domination magic. (

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
Zovaal has blocked our pursuit. If we are to defeat him, we must find a way to withstand Domination.
But to overcome it, we need to understand how it works.
The Primus of Maldraxxus created Domination, he will be able to tell us more.
I asked Taelia to bring a piece of the Helm of Domination to Zereth Mortis. I dread to think of what might happen were I to try to carry it again...
Let us discuss the way forward.
The Primus says: Zovaal needed to dominate the automa to enter the Sepulcher. Yet, they did not succumb immediately.
The Primus says: If we use the Helm of Domination, we may be able to discover the source of their resistance.
Taelia Fordragon says: Should we use it, after all the devastation it's caused?
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: If we can find a way to resist Domination, it is worth the risk.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
I don't like this as an option any more than Taelia does, but we need to wield Domination safely if we are to find a way to overcome it.
Our first step is to ensure that the helm still works. On us.
The Primus created Domination, and so will direct your research. First, you will need to test the Helm on someone who has successfully resisted Domination before -
大领主达里安·莫格莱尼
. (

)
The Primus
I created Domination as a tool to punish Zovaal.
My anger informed that creation, and now we pay the price for my hubris. Even Eternal Ones err on occasion.
But we are not without hope.
Take the half of the broken Helm of Domination, and test it upon one of your own. If it retains enough power, it can then be used to test it elsewhere in Zereth Mortis.
Highlord Darion Mograine says: I volunteer. I can bear this pain again, for the good of many.
Taelia Fordragon says: Take the helm, champion. You have the best chance of using it without giving in yourself.
Even with his history of resistance, Darion is nearly overcome by the Helm's power, and you're forced to fight him until he finally regains control.
Highlord Darion Mograine yells: The power! It's too much!
Highlord Darion Mograine says: Hold! I am myself again.
Baine Bloodhoof says: So, the helm retains its power. While fortunate for us, it remains disturbing.
The Primus is extremely interested in your discoveries so far.
The Primus
Even those who overcame Domination are not entirely immune to it now.
But there may be something buried in that history that can aid us.
I will think on this.
For now, focus your efforts on the creatures of Zereth Mortis. See what makes them more resistant.
Next, you should test the Helm on the creatures of
扎雷殁提斯
, whose existence predates the creation of Domination. (

The Primus
The creatures of Zereth Mortis have existed here since well before I created Domination.
We have seen the effects that Zovaal's forces have had on them, but I believe there is more to be learned.
Use the helm on the denizens of Zereth Mortis and see what you can uncover about a natural resistance.
Since he created Domination, you may with to question the Primus on its nature.
Tell me about Domination.
The Primus says: Domination is akin to communication, a language, if you will.
The Primus says: One so powerful that it interferes with a creature's very understanding of itself. This is why it is almost impossible to resist.
The Primus says: If we can disrupt that interference long enough. We may find a way to thwart it.
Bolvar also suggests you seek out
长者厄鲁
, who may be able to provide some insight into the language of the First Ones. (

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
Since we have earned the trust of the Enlightened, I have learned more about their explorations into Zereth Mortis.
They know more than they are willing to tell, but often do not act on that knowledge. Perhaps where they observe, we can be a catalyst for action.
In a secluded corner called the Lexical Glade, there is an elder named Eru. She may be able to give us insight on how we might use the language of the First Ones.
Seek her out, and see if she will help us.
As you test creatures, some fall to Domination almost immediately, while others show a little more resistance. The

Elder Eru
What is this? You wish to know if there is anything here that can help you resist Mawsworn magic?
You are in luck, stranger. I happen to know that this place is a library. And libraries are wonderful places to find what you are looking for.
The more advanced creatures resist Domination for longer?
Well of course, I could have told you that. It's all about the language!
However, she is quite distracted by the destruction being wrought on the area by Devourers, and asks your help preserving the knowledge she's managed to find so far. (

Elder Eru
This area is a repository of various texts. Hmmm? What do they say? I have no idea!
I have dedicated myself to their catalogue and organization. This is more important than ever, with invaders destroying the balance in Zereth Mortis! We must preserve what we have found so far.
You can help. Go into the glade and memorize the phrases there, then meet me down in the grotto. There is something in it that might help you test that helm of yours further.
Elder Eru says: Sometimes, the language will change right in front of you! I think this adaption may be what you seek.
Elder Eru says: Meet me in the grotto when you're done. We can test this theory there.
You meet Eru in a library of sorts.
Elder Eru
This place is wondrous.
I could spend all of my existence here.
She explains how the language of the First Ones is different to most - in that it evolves - and you can test this yourself on the nearby

. (

Elder Eru
The language of the First Ones is not static like most others. It evolves.
Creatures like the sentries are more advanced than your average poultrid, obviously. Their more complex thought processes give them an innate resistance to the invaders' overriding magic.
But you should not take my word for it. We can actually test this!
In the grotto there is a librarian. Take those phrases you memorized and infuse them into it. Then try out your helm.
Like the Outmoded Servitors, the Librarian takes time to fall to Domination - though in the Librarian's case, the time it takes is much, much longer, as each phrase seems to be individually bypassed by Domination first. As Elder Eru explains, the more complicated the creature, the longer it takes for Domination to gain hold.
Elder Eru says: Infuse the librarian with the phrases you have obtained, then try your helm on it. The results should be fascinating.
Lexicon Librarian says: ??
Lexicon Librarian says: ... .

Elder Eru says: As you can see, the more advanced the language, the more resistant the creature.
Elder Eru
You see! It took far longer for Domination to overtake the librarian's native purposing.
Of course it did fail in the end, but I would call that a success for your particular interest.
Do not worry, another automa will take that one's place. There must always be a librarian.
Though you have learned how natural resistance to Domination works, you still haven't found a way to completely resist it. For that, Elder Eru suggests you head to the Elder Sands and search the vaults there. (

Elder Eru
Did that answer your question?
Oh, you wanted a way to completely resist Domination magic? That I'm afraid I do not know. The First Ones' language will only delay the inevitable.
What I can tell you is that if you want to find more deliciously complex phrases of the First Ones' language, you should go to the Endless Sands and search the vaults.
I wish I could go myself, but it has been overrun by those nasty Mawsworn.
Good luck with the rest of your studies!
You return to the Primus with the information you've learned.
The Primus
This Elder has given us an important answer to this puzzle. But now we must act on the information. Though, doing so will be difficult.
First we must infuse the helm with those indecipherable phrases from the First Ones that are in the Endless Sands.
But that will not be enough on its own. We will need more. Let me prepare, while you acquire what we need. I will send word for you after.
Bolvar, Darion, and Taelia promise to meet you at the Elder Sands. (

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
The Primus's theory about the language of the First Ones has borne out.
Still, it may not be enough.
While the Primus finalizes his plans, let us go deep into the Endless Sands to find pieces of this power to infuse the helm.
Darion, Taelia, and I will meet you there to help with the Mawsworn.
The Primus says: Take the helm to the Endless Sands, and infuse it with the language of the First Ones.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Taelia and I will join you. Be prepared champion, that region is entrenched with powerful Mawsworn.
As you've been warned, the area is covered in Mawsworn.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
The enemy is formidable, but with the strength of our arms and the power of the Broken Helm, we may be able to even the odds.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
What we seek is in the vaults of the Endless Sands. To reach them will require strength and numbers.
Together we will destroy the Mawsworn.
I look forward to taking the fight directly to them.
Remember, they will be vulnerable to the broken shard from the Helm of Domination.
Taelia and Bolvar will help you search the vaults for the First Ones' more complex phrases. (

)
Taelia Fordragon
Elder Eru said that we could find the most complex examples of the First Ones' language out here.
We'll need to fight our way to the vaults, and then infuse the helm once we find those phrases.
On a personal note, I never thought I'd have the chance to fight alongside my father. Though with the stakes this high, it somehow feels like exactly the place I'm supposed to be.
I am ready when you are.
Taelia Fordragon says: Remember, you can use the helm shard against the Mawsworn if you need the extra strength.
While you infuse the phrases of the First Ones into the Helm, Bolvar and Taelia have several short conversations. At the first phrase, they discuss the way the more complicated phrases can help against Domination.
Taelia Fordragon says: Here's one. This phrase really doesn't make any sense, does it? Just looking at it makes my head spin.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: That feeling in your mind is the quality that makes Domination less effective.
The way to the second phrase is blocked by rubble. As you attempt to clear it away, you're attacked by an
焦躁的地质元素
. You take it down together, and Bolvar seems impressed by Taelia's fighting skills, asking her jovially where she learned to wield a hammer. Taelia's reply is less light-hearted - though she doesn't say it outright, the fact that Bolvar was not there to teach her seems to hang in the air.
Taelia Fordragon says: The way is blocked. We'll have to break our way through.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Look out!
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Who taught you how to weild a hammer?
Taelia Fordragon says: Sir Crestfall, of Kul Tiras. He was always there for me, growing up. Someone I could look up to, in the flesh.
By the third phrase. the fact that she grew up without her real father seems to still be playing on Taelia's mind, and she asks Bolvar about his time as Lich King.
Taelia Fordragon says: When you were there, alone in Icecrown, did you ever think of mother and me?
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Every day.
Lore Spotlight: Taelia, Bolvar's Orphan and Daughter
In the
raid finale cinematic for Icecrown Citadel
, after Arthas's defeat, the ghost of his father - Terenas Menethil - appeared, to take his son away, and to share the information that the Scourge would become an even greater threat if no one took his son's place. "There must always be a Lich King."
At the time, Bolvar Fordragon, already forever changed by the torture he had endured in Icecrown, chose to sacrifice himself. As he took up the Helm of Domination, he had one last message for those he was leaving behind. "Tell them only that the Lich King is dead... And that Bolvar Fordragon died with him."
By this time, his daughter was already in the care of Cyrus Crestfall - after her mother died when the Scourge hit Lordaeron, Bolvar sent Taelia to Kul Tiras to keep her safe. Until recently, Taelia believed - like most - that Bolvar had died a hero in Northrend. It was only after Sylvanas Windrunner sent Mawsworn to kidnap Azeroth's leaders that Taelia learned the truth, and even then only because Mathias Shaw let it slip in front of her.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
Well done.
Let us hope that this is last time we see the helm used as a weapon.
We've done it. The broken half of the helm is infused with the most advanced pieces of the First Ones' power that we could readily find.
We are so close to success.
You regroup with Darion, who shares the news that the Primus has asked for you to meet in

Highlord Darion Mograine says: The Primus sent word. We are to meet in Bastion for a memory ritual.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: So be it. Let us see what horrors we will have to relive.
According to Bolvar, you should meet in Bastion's Chamber of First Reflection. (

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
I think I know what will be asked of us in Bastion. It will not be easy.
With this half of the Helm, we have collected the first part of what is needed to resist Domination. But there are those of us who have also suffered from it. Lived through it.
In a way, it has marked us. All of us.
There must be something in those experiences that will help us break free from Zovaal's influence.
Let us go to the Chamber of First Reflection in Bastion.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: We will need to bring the remaining shards of the helm as well.
Taelia Fordragon says: I can bear them to Bastion, father.
Lore Spotlight: The Chamber of the First Reflection
You may remember the Chamber of First Reflection from The Aspirant's Crucible, a chapter from the Story of Bastion. Here, Kyrian Aspirants gaze into the large soul mirrors that line the chamber's walls, spawning aberrations of their most anguished and deepest memories. The Aspirants must confront and subdue these memories - once leaving them behind forever as part of the Kyrian Path, though now they may choose not to forget if that is what they wish. Naturally, the more painful the memory, the more difficult this task.
You arrive in the Chamber to find Bolvar, Taelia, and Darion waiting for you with the shards of the Helm of Domination, along with Anduin Wrynn,

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: We must harness what is within us. There is no other choice.
Anduin Wrynn says: It must be done. I am willing to bear any suffering so long as it will help.
You speak to Bolvar, who explains the plan.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
Good, you've arrived.
We have assembled those who have suffered from Domination in the past. Some more recently than others.
All have come through it, not always intact, but we are still standing. That is what we must capture.
While the complex language of the First Ones may help slow down Domination, another trait is needed: Willpower. Specifically, the will of those who have managed to break free of Domination before. (
所愿遗忘之事
)
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
While the language of the Progenitors will aid us, there is another trait that will help break Domination's hold on us.
An indomitable will.
Those of us who have endured before, and survived, have that inherent resistance, which we will offer up to be infused into each of the shards.
The Primus has assured me that this will work. With no other options, this is the only way.
I trust that it will be worth the suffering.
Bolvar volunteers to go first. As he relives his agonizing past,
Firebound Memories
spawn, causing him great pain. It's agonizing, but he is able to overcome it, and a shard of the Helm is infused with Bolvar's burning will.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Ready the shard!
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Argh! The burning...
Taelia Fordragon says: You have faced worse, father! You can resist it once again!
Taelia Fordragon says: I knew you could do it.
Highlord Darion Mograine says: I will go next.
For Darion, the painful memories are
Bloodbound Memories
. He, too, is able to overcome this challenge, and a shard of the Helm is infused with Darion's bloody will.
Highlord Darion Mograine says: I must endure... for the legacy of Mograine!
Highlord Darion Mograine says: It is done.
Anduin Wynn says: Let me go next.
Despite the pain, the ritual helps Bolvar feel better.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
I feel... lighter. But I cannot forget what has brought me to here, and what must still be done.
I hope that Taelia will remember what she saw... the man I am now. Not some lone figure locked away, but someone who does what is necessary for the good of all.
Anduin is ready to help. (

Anduin Wrynn
I wish that I knew of this place sooner. Where terrible darkness could be purged from oneself, memories examined and expunged...
I am willing to do whatever it takes to help defeat Zovaal, no matter the cost.
This is the only way.
As you begin the ritual,
Mawbound Memories
begin to spawn, but the wounds of these memories are still too fresh, and Anduin is unable to cope with them. You halt the ritual, and Sylvanas speaks up. She believes she may be able to help.
Anduin Wrynn says: I pray some good can come from all of this.
Anduin Wrynn says: What is this... It... it's too much!
Anduin Wrynn says: I... cannot.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Anduin! We cannot put him through this again!
Sylvanas reflects.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: I see your struggle, young lion. Allow me to offer perspective.
Lore Spotlight: Firebound, Bloodbound, and Mawbound Memories
As Bolvar, Darion, and Anduin grapple with their worst memories, the aberrations that spawn allow us some insight into the intensely painful moments they are reliving.
Bolvar's Firebound Memories
During the events of Wrath of the Lich King, Bolvar nearly died when
Grand Apothecary Putress unleashed Plague on both the Alliance and Horde at the Wrathgate
. Bolvar was saved by the cleansing flames of the red dragonflight, but his body was left charred beyond recognition, and he was captured and tortured by the Scourge.
Darion's Bloodbound Memories
As a child, Darion wanted nothing more than to be like his father, Alexandros Mograine, a Highlord of the Paladin Order - the Knights of the Silver Hand - and wielder of the Ashbringer. But Darion's own brother, Renault, murdered their father with his own blade, corrupting the Ashbringer and condemning Alexandros to a tortured existence as a death knight of the Scourge and leader of Ke'Thuzad's Four Horsemen. Though Darion eventually freed his father's soul by sacrificing his own life - he also took his father's place when Kel'Thuzad resurrected him as the new leader of his Horsemen and wielder of the Corrupted Ashbringer.
Anduin's Mawbound Memories
When Anduin was captured and taken to the Maw during the Shadowlands pre-patch, he was one of many, but we managed to find and rescue most of our leaders fairly early on. Even so, the torture they had endured was enough to leave them severely shaken. Those who have spent time in the Maw have spoken of the feeling of an inescapable nightmare, where time becomings meaningless, stretching out until days feel like centuries. It's not uncommon for those who do escape the Maw to carry permanent scars - the Curator of Revendreth, for example, has never quite been the same.
To aid Anduin, Sylvanas summons her own memories, talking about the time when she resisted Domination herself - when she threw off Arthas's control. She remembers the sudden clarity that came with a strong feeling of purpose - if she could punish Arthas for his crimes, she could be absolved of the ones he forced her to commit against her own people. And though there was no justice that day - for him or her - it was this moment that helped her break free. The vision of her memories fades, and a shard of the Helm is infused with Sylvanas's banshee will.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: I don't remember the exact moment I wrested control.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: I do remember the rush of freedom. The clarity of purpose.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: When I loosed my arrow, I sought to become his judge and his executioner.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: I thought that if I could punish him for his crimes, I would be absolved of mine.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: Forgiven for the atrocities he forced me to commit against my own people.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: But there would be no justice that day.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: For anyone.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: That... is yet to come.
Sylvanas's perspective has helped Anduin.

, but he is able to defeat it with your help. As you approach the shards of the Helm of Domination, you see that the final shard has been infused with the Light of Anduin's will.
Anduin Wrynn says: I will try again.
Baine Bloodhoof says: Search for the Light within you, Anduin!
Pelagos says: You are strong enough!
Anduin Wrynn says: There. I have done all I can.
Pelagos says: You did well, Anduin.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: This is not the end of your suffering. But it is a step forward.
You speak, once again, with Bolvar.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
All the shards are now infused with the resistance we gained from our experiences with Domination.
It was not easy, for any of us. But I am proud of what we were able to accomplish, together.
As for the rest, our future is in the hands of the Primus.
All that remains is to bring the Helm to the Primus in the Runecarver's Oubliette, where he will reforge it. (
统御熔炉
)
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
We have all of the pieces we need. The broken half of the helm has been augmented with the complexity of the language of the First Ones, and the shards bear our memories.
Our will to resist Domination.
All that remains is for the Primus to reforge the Helm, then we will be able to draw upon that combined power for ourselves.
I know that it is dangerous, but it is our only hope.
Baine Bloodhoof says: Once more, into the Maw.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: Let us be done with this.
The Primus approves of the irony of your location.
The Primus
How appropriate that the place I was imprisoned in will be the setting for how we free ourselves.
He is ready to reforge the Helm, not as a tool of Domination, but as one of free will. (
意志头盔
)
The Primus
When I created Domination, I did not foresee how much pain it would cause the realms. Not only the Shadowlands, but yours as well.
It is time we take this helm, this symbol of that magic, and reforge it anew. But, not for the same purpose it once had.
Let it represent the strength of will that you and your kind possess, so that it may help us overcome and defeat Zovaal at last.
The Primus says: It is time to remake what has been broken.
Thrall says: What is to stop this new helm from being used to enslave others?
The Primus says: It is to become something greater. An instrument of free will.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: Never again will a Lich King reign in Icecrown.
Assured that the new Helm will bring freedom rather than servitude, you take up each fragment and place them before the Primus, so that he may reforge them anew.
The Primus says: Imbued with the strength of those who defied Domination.
The Primus says: That which sought to bind us will be made anew.
The Primus says: Behold, the Crown of Wills.
No longer a tool for Domination, the reforged Helm will be renamed to the Crown of Wills. As you reach out to the Crown, it sends out a wave of its new, freeing power, forever breaking Domination's control. This Crown will be the key to defeating the Jailer.
The Primus says: With this reforging, our wills are our own.
Taelia Fordragon says: For the future.
Baine Bloodhoof says: For the Shadowlands.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: For Azeroth.
The Primus says: This will be the end of Zovaal.
The Primus will keep the Crown until it's needed again. For now, you need to focus your efforts on defeating the Jailer.
The Primus says: I will keep the Crown close until it is needed again. Focus your efforts on Zovaal's defeat.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: We will finish this.
After the day's events, Bolvar can't help but feel optimistic.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
This is a power unlike any I have felt before. We have made something new.
It will be our key to defeating Zovaal.
When you return to Haven, you have the chance to listen to a conversation between Bolvar and Taelia, as the Highlord's daughter finally confronts him on his decision to let her believe he was dead all these years. He explains it was to keep her safe, but admits that his decision hurt her, and he regrets the pain he's caused.
<Stay awhile and listen.>
Taelia Fordragon says: There is so much I want to ask you... I don't know where to start.
Taelia Fordragon says: When you grow up believing your father is a dead hero, everything is much more neat and tidy. When you learn he's quite alive it's... different.
Taelia Bolvar Fordragon says: The man I was did die that day. The dragon's fire sealed my purpose.
Taelia Fordragon says: But couldn't you at least have let me know you were still there? Under that helm? All that time?
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Would you have journeyed to Icecrown, if you knew?
Taelia Fordragon says: Yes, of course. I would have gone anywhere for you.
Taelia Bolvar Fordragon says: Which is why you could not know. I had to make that sacrifice, to keep you and the rest of the world safe from that place. From that power.
Taelia Fordragon says: But it wasn't just you who made that sacrifice. It was the rest of us, too. Everyone who loved you.
Taelia Bolvar Fordragon says: I know. And for the pain I caused you, I will always feel sorrow. I pray that one day, you can forgive me for it.

has arrived in Haven with news. (

<Name>, I am so glad you are here! Firim sent me to find you.
It's the oracle, it... well... it's hard to describe. You should come see it for yourself. Hurry!
Pelagos says: I will meet you there. Please hurry!
When you arrive in
菲历姆
's sanctuary, you find the
先知
emanating strange, geometric energy, with three powerful beams of light extending out into fractals. As you enter the cave,
波可波克
runs forward and halts in front of the Oracle - it seems to be reacting to the energy somehow, fractal blasts periodically shooting from the Oracle into the little Automa.
Firim says: I have not encountered this sort of phenomenon before! It must have a deeper meaning...
Pelagos says: Maw Walker! You re--wait, what is happening to Pocopoc?
What is happening?
Firim says: Pocopoc is reacting to the oracle... I must understand the nature of this connection!
We may be on the cusp of a wondrous revelation!
Since you share a special bond with Pocopoc, Firim suggests you try approach the fractal cyphers that surround the Oracle. (

)
It started gradually, the energy emanating from the oracle in increasing amounts, until the grand design you see before you took shape.
The terrible clamor ringing in our ears began shortly afterward.
My attempts to approach the fractals have been... unsuccessful. But they appear to resonate with Pocopoc.
You share a special bond with it; perhaps you shall have better luck than I.
As you investigate the first one, you seem to absorb its energy. The effect leaves you feeling dazzled, struggling to understand what's happening.
Firim says: You absorbed the energy? Can you describe its effects? Quickly, examine the rest!
You absorb the other two fractal cyphers, growing more and more
眩晕
, until a vision fills your head. You find yourself floating, up, out of the cave, over Zereth Mortis. The Oracle floats before you, her voice echoing through your head, speaking of a vessel.
Saezurah says: (Titanic) Midnir.
Saezurah says: (Draconic) Rethul.
Saezurah says: (Demonic) Kasharu.
Saezurah says: (Shath'Yar) An'qoth.
Saezurah says: Vessel.
Saezurah says: Vessel.
Saezurah says: Vessel.
Saezurah says: Dormant above the sands.
Saezurah says: The song seeks a voice.
Saezurah says: Ascend.
Saezurah says: Reclaim.
Saezurah says: Restore.
You feel yourself return to your body as the vessel fades, and you hear the voice of the Oracle, speaking through Pocopoc.
Saezurah says: Wallow. Hollow. No... follow. The mortal shall follow.
Saezurah says: The vessel, in peril. Make haste.
It seems the others experienced the vision as well. Firim is quite overcome.
A vision! The oracle communicates with us! You saw it too? Such magnificence! Such... a migraine left in its wake.
As you approach Pocopoc, the voice of the Oracle introduces herself as
莎伊祖拉
. (
奇怪的漫长旅行
)
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
<The voice from the vision speaks through Pocopoc, albeit distant and distorted.>
I... am Saezurah. Oracle. This automa... speaks with my voice. Acts with my will. For now.
The pattern... is torn. Disrupted. Mending must be done.
A great hunger swarms the sands. What it seeks must not be consumed.
Journey with me. Follow my voice.
Firim still seems quite overwhelmed by the vision, so Pelagos volunteers to stay behind to look after him while you help Saezurah through Pocopoc.
Pelagos says: The oracle... she is speaking through Pocopoc?
Firim says: Dormant... Seeks a voice... Ascend...
Pelagos says: Go on, Maw Walker. I had best remain with Firim while he recovers from the vision.
Pocopoc begins to lead you north, to the area of Zereth Mortis that is dry and covered in sand. The little automa routinely stops and uses the same energy you saw emenating from the Oracle to engage with various abjects around the landscape - each time, you find yourself having to fight off invading Devourers.
What are you doing?
Pocopoc says: Destruction. Defilement. The pattern in fractals.
Why are the devourers attacking us?
Pocopoc says: They consume power... but not understanding...
While you travel, Saezurah, speaking through Pocopoc, explains that the disruption you see around you in
扎雷殁提斯
is due to a break in the pattern, caused by an absence that has created a vacuum in the order of things.
Where are you going?
Pocopoc says: Atop the spires... the vessel awaits...
What is the vessel?
Pocopoc says: An absence keenly felt. A vacuum that brings collapse.
Pocapoc leads you to a mountainous area called the Resonant Peaks, where Saezurah explains the little Automa is going to need power for the next step of your journey.
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
Above the sands. Above us. The vessel awaits.
All around, pools of cosmic energy leak from the ground itself, and the area is covered in frenzied devourers, attracted to this power. You can soak the energy from the ground or reclaim it from fallen Devourers. (
借来的力量
)
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
The land provides. The land thirsts. Invaders devour what we require.
Reclaim what has been consumed. Absorb what remains abundant.
Wings need wind to fly. We need power to ascend.
The Devourer numbers need to be thinned anyway. (
吞噬者消失术
)
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
Once... they had purpose. Made for balance. But now... shifted, altered. Disharmonious.
They rend the pattern. It cannot continue.
Elimination is the only recourse.
Once Pocopoc is fully charged, Saezurah directs you to a cave called the Gravid Repose.
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
Power thrums. A renewal of hope.
The design must be restored.
Here, you find a teleportation device known as a Locus Shift. To use the transportation, you need a particular cypher - the Interior Locus Arrangement - a phrase in the language of the First Ones. (
鬼斧殁工
)
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
The cyphers are the key. Each one, a step along the path. You must find them all.
Enter the inner chamber. The Prime Locus Arrangement awaits.
The first step toward ascension. Toward the vessel.
Bringing this cypher to the locus shift allows you to teleport to another location - from the Gravid Repose Locus to the Interior Locus, transporting you to an inner chamber even further within the Resonant Peaks. Here, you collect the Primus Locus Arrangement, allowing you to teleport to the Primus Locus - atop the Resonant Peaks.
Pocopoc says: Upon the wall, the first cypher awaits. Follow the automa.
Pocopoc says: For every locus, a cypher. Find the cyphers, reveal the path.
Pocopoc says: A locus to find the path. The cyphers open the way.
Pocopoc says: Each new cypher unveils a new horizon. Obtain. Unlock. Explore.
This time, you will not find the cypher you need so easily. The area is overrun with unstable Automa, who seem to have caused a great deal of damage. At Saezurah's suggestion, you make use of a servitor Automa to clean up the rubble, until you find the cypher that unlocks the next stage of your journey - the Secundus Locus. (
左右为岩
)
Suspicious Rubble Pile
<Piles of rock are scattered around the area. The devourers have done enough damage to obscure the cypher you seek.
Perhaps one of the nearby servitors could be made to clear the rubble.>
Pocopoc says: Debris obscures the path. Clear every impediment.
Pocopoc says: An automa restored, a purpose provided. It will serve.
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
Our sojourn continues.
Following the path, you continue to make your way upwards, from the Secunda Locus to the Tertius, Tertius to Quartus, Quartus to Quintus, until you finally reach the Ultimus Locus - atop the summit of the Resonant Peaks.
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
The last leg of the journey begins.
In front of you stands a sealed chamber. (
寻高觅低
)
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
Three locks upon the door, three keys hidden atop the zenith.
Find the phrases. Speak the words. Secure the vessel.
Pocopoc says: A door with three keys. They hide among the spires.
Once you place keys, they resonate with energy and you are transported inside, to find the
空容器
Saezurah spoke about - a dormant Automa. Pocopoc seems to pour energy into the Automa, and it activates, preparing to follow you.
Pocopoc says: An empty vessel, an absent role. Both must be filled once more.
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
One journey ends. Another begins.
Suddenly, the door behind you is smashed open. Outside, the Devourers have grown frantic, swarming the cliffs in their lust for power. Saezurah's voice calls on you to activate Pocopoc's defenses, which you use to hold off the attacking creatures. (
你点燃了我的生命
)
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
Great power entices great hunger. The insatiable devourers scale the cliffs in search of sustenance.
Soon they will swarm the plateau. They seek to consume all they encounter. The vessel. Its power. Us.
This must not come to pass. Wield this automa. Silence their slavering howls.
Though Pocopoc's defenses are effective, the Devourers' hunter is insatiable, and when the behemoth,
自动体吞噬者格莱克索
, arrives, it draws Pocapoc away from you, completely draining the Automa of its energy in one go.
Your only hope now is to escape. As fast as you can, you collect cosmic orbs dropped by Graktho and deliver them to Pocopoc, empowering the little Automa until it has enough cosmic energy to teleport you to the safety of Firim's hideout.
Pocopoc says: Energy expended, now restored. Wind rises beneath wings of hope. We soar.
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
Sanctuary, for now. A greater task remains.
The energy Pocopoc still holds helps to restore the Oracle to full health once more. (
先知自医
)
Saezurah (via Pocopoc)
The vessel, snatched from peril. This automa, a steadfast servant. Its energy, the key to my restoration.
Pocopoc, it calls itself. A name that shall return to it.
My name will be mine again. Saezurah, among the last of the oracles. Guide to those who would save Zereth Mortis.
Bring Pocopoc. Its time as proxy has ended. The time of my awakening has arrived.
Transfer your energy into the oracle.
Pocopoc says: Water from the sands...
Saezurah says: ...renewal from ruin.
Saezurah says: I...
Saezurah says: ...am restored.
Firim says: The oracle!
Saezurah says: You who have watched over me. You who have aided me. More is needed.
Pelagos says: We will do everything we can to help. You have my word.
Now fully restored, Saezurah explains her plans for the vessel. The Shadowlands need an Arbiter - and will not function properly again until one is restored.
Saezurah says: A vessel of judgment is required. The missing fracctal must be replaced. The geometry made whole.
Pelagos says: A vessel of judgment... Do you mean... the Arbiter? But how?
Saezurah says: All that is Eternal was forged in Zereth Mortis. Archon. Primus. Winter Queen. Sire. And... Arbiter.
Saezurah says: The vessel is destined to replace that which was lost. But first, the vessel must be filled. Preparations are required.
Saezurah says: Patience. Perseverance. When the hour is at hand, my song will echo once more.
Dormant no longer. The pattern aligns. But more must be done.
Pelagos is shaken. You will need to inform your allies in Haven. (

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
An Arbiter? I had not imagined we could set that to rights.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: If a new Arbiter is to arise, then there may yet be hope for the Shadowlands. Keep me apprised, Maw Walker.

Maw Walker--Pelagos stopped by earlier to give a report and said that the oracle's preparations were complete, and you were urgently needed.
If this is something that can help our efforts, I want you involved. Head to Exile's Hollow and see what they need.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Do whatever you can to aid the oracle. The fate of the Shadowlands depends on your success.
You arrive to find Firim still grappling with the idea of creating a new Arbiter. He can barely believe he's going to get the chance to witness something so monumental.
Firim says: You certain that this is possible?
Saezurah says: This land is possibility.
Mortal, I have monumental news. Saezurah has indicated that preparations are complete. It is time to create a new Arbiter!
Usually,
扎雷殁提斯
would craft a new being to take the Arbiter's place, but the Mawsworn have caused far too much destruction in the land for this to be possible now. Instead, you will be taking matters into your own hands. (

Without an Arbiter, the very purpose of the Shadowlands has been compromised. Souls flood the Maw with no direction.
As Saezurah noted, Zereth Mortis would ordinarily craft a new being to take the Arbiter's place. I suspect the Jailer's forces have disrupted the land to the point where this is no longer possible.
It is time to take action ourselves, and bring stability again to the Shadowlands! Speak to Saezurah, and see where we must begin.
Firim says: A new Arbiter... to think I will observe something of this magnitude!
You speak with
莎伊祖拉
to learn more. She explains how the
空容器
can be used to create a new Arbiter, but it requires a soul - one that can be found within the Crypts of Eternal. Unfortunately, these crypts are heavily guarded by Mawsworn.
How do we help Zereth Mortis create a new Arbiter?
Saezurah says: A symphony of creation needs voices joined in chorus. One, we possess. The other, we do not.
Saezurah says: The vessel seeks a soul. One that slumbers in the Crypts of the Eternal. Only with both will the Arbiter sing again.
Pelagos says: The Crypts of the Eternal--but that area is overrun by Mawsworn! How are we to get past them on our own?
Kleia says: We are not alone, Pelagos. Surely the covenants will aid us toward the creation of a new Arbiter.
The covenants are certain to send aid if we ask.
克雷雅
promises to speak with the Kyrian, while you and
裴拉戈斯
approach the other Covenants. (
远方的援手

If we stand any chance of breaking through the Mawsworn forces, we will need the help of all of the covenants.
I will speak with the Kyrian. You and Pelagos can speak with the others. But before you go, ask Firim if there is any way we can gain the support of the Enlightened as well.
Kleia says: I will rally the Kyrian. You and Pelagos speak to the other covenants. And see if Firim can enlist the Enlightened.
Firim doubts the Enlightened would agree to help, since the Crypts of Eternal are hallowed ground. Fortunately, he has another idea. The Automa
克巴托
can be of great use.
Can we get additional aid from the Enlightened?
Firim says: I doubt my compatriots in Haven would dare tread on such hallowed ground. But, fear not! I, as always, have an idea.
Firim says: Kbato! We have need of your assistance! Kbato?
Firim says: Hmm. Perhaps you can awaken it, mortal.
Sure enough, Kbato responds to you and awakens. Firim sends it to the Eternal Crypts while you and Pelagos head out to speak to the covenant representatives.
Firim says: Ah, there you are! Meet us near the Eternal Crypts, Kbato. It is time to fight back against the Mawsworn!
On your way, Pelagos comments thoughtfully about the notion of a new Arbiter, and how he hopes they will help the souls of the Shadowlands.
Pelagos says: A new Arbiter... a chance to restore balance to the Shadowlands...
Pelagos says: Could there be any greater act of service?
Pelagos says: With a new Arbiter in place, I hope every soul finds the afterlife they truly deserve.
You visit the Catalyst Gardens first, to speak with
娜德佳,迷雾之刃
. She promises the Venthyr's aid, expressing a hope that, with a new Arbiter, Revendreth will once again be sent souls deserving of redemption. As you head to speak to the Night Fae, Pelagos expresses a belief that all souls deserve that chance.
Nadjia the Mistblade says: Revendreth stands beside you, Maw Walker. To battle!
Nadjia the Mistblade says: Let us hope your plan works. Revendreth needs anima--and for that, we need souls that deserve redemption.
Pelagos says: Nadjia has a point. But if you ask me... well, I think every soul deserves redemption.
You approach
宗主艾莉奥瑟
in Provis Fauna next - she promises the forces of the Night Fae, and hopes the new Arbiter will watch over the great cycle. Her words seem to make Pelagos reflect on just how much the Arbiter's decisions impact the entire Shadowlands.
Droman Aliothe says: The might of Ardenweald is yours, Maw Walker.
Droman Aliothe says: We have always watched over the great cycle. I hope that this new Arbiter will do the same.
Pelagos says: To watch over the great cycle... the Arbiter's decisions affect more than just souls, but the Shadowlands entire.
Finally, you speak with
剑斗士米维克斯
in Provis Esper. He promises the Necrolords' help, and expresses an interest in whether or not the new Arbiter will show the sort of strength that will be needed. Pelagos agrees - the new Arbiter must prove themself both strong and resolute.
Secutor Mevix says: Soldiers! You heard the Maw Walker--we march on the Endless Sands!
Secutor Mevix says: Let's see if this new Arbiter proves strong enough for the task ahead.
Pelagos says: Mevix is right. The Arbiter must have the strength and resolve to do what must be done.
You meet your allies just outside the Eternal Crypts, where you find Kleia has made good on her promise to recruit the Kyrian. Representatives from all four Covenants are here to help.
Between the strength of the covenant forces and the help of the automa, we should be able to reach the Crypts!
Mevix requires you to eliminate two Dominated Oracles -
先知沃拉克西
and

. The Abomination
Emeni
will help you. (

Secutor Mevix
Maw Walker! My scouts report that the Mawsworn have dominated two automa Oracles to aid them in battle. These Oracles will most certainly predict our strategy and our ultimate goal, if given the chance.
We need to eliminate both Oracles before we enter the Crypts. With them out of the way, the Mawsworn troops won't know what we're doing until we're finished with it.
Take Emeni with you. She's eager for battle.
Secutor Mevix says: You and Emeni eliminate those oracles. We will prepare for the assault.
Firim hands you

The smaller automa that are hiding in the desert can be utilized here. Use my Motivator to rally them to our cause. If we can gather enough, their energy can replenish these defeated behemoths to bolster our forces.
Return as many as you can to me, and we will put them to work!
Firim says: Bring the automa cores to me. They can power the behemoths you see before you.

The song... incomplete. Harmony is needed. Seek those who scry. Send them to serve the cycle.
Mawsworn hold the keys that bind. Take the keys, set them free.
The Necrolords' scouts are proven right - the Oracles have fallen to Domination, and are entirely transformed into

's creatures.
Oracle Voraxxi says: Shackles and chains. The scryers will be sought.
Oracle Voraxxi says: You shall be silenced!
Oracle Voraxxi says: Your cosmos... is forfeit...
Oracle Zoketh says: Eyes alert, wits sharp... they will see the unseen.
Oracle Zoketh says: Fall to dissonance!
Oracle Zoketh says: He will... reshape... reality...
Secutor Mevix
Perfectly executed, <name>. The loss of those Oracles should keep the Mawsworn in the dark.
As Firim predicted, the little Automa you bring him are able to energize several disabled Automa Behemoths, and the Scryers you release find their way safely to Saezurah.
Firim says: Excellent! This plan will almost certainly succeed!
Saezurah says: Voices freed, a symphony in stasis. Their moment will soon arrive.
Pelagos says: Well done! I will check on the others.
Well done, mortal! Soon we shall see the results of your efforts.
The chorus gathers. Soon, our voices will merge.
With several Automa joining your forces, and the Oracles destroyed, you will soon be soon ready to begin your assault on the Crypts of Eternal. (

This is it, mortal. The forces you have assembled should be enough to break through the Mawsworn and reach the Crypts. Getting inside, however, will require more effort. The Mawsworn have barricaded the entrance.
Kbato will carry you into battle. Eliminate the Mawsworn, and destroy the devices that power the barrier.
Firim says: Climb onto Kbato and ride into battle! The other automa will begin their assault!
With the Automa's help, you eliminate the Mawsworn in your path until you reach the barrier guarding the Crypts. Sure enough, Kbato is able to destroy this barrier quite easily.
Firim says: Yes! It is time to strike back at the Mawsworn!
Droman Aliothe says: We must push for the Crypts! Trample the Mawsworn!
Firim says: Now is our chance! Kbato can destroy the barrier at the entrance to the Crypts!
You head inside, Mevix and the other Covenant forces staying near the entrance to keep guard.
Secutor Mevix says: Go! We will hold the line while you explore the Crypts.
Firim can scarcely believe he is here.
By the First Ones... I never dreamed I would see this place with my own eyes.
Within the Crypts, Saezurah seems concerned about what may lie ahead. (
无尽之轮

Creation calls--can you hear it? Yet darkness lingers below, taints the ancient melody.
To forge anew, peace must be restored. The Walker must walk, and protect.
There is much to be done. Lead the way.
Saezurah says: A song distorted, the Crypts defiled.
Saezurah says: Howls of wrath and agony. Where once first breath was drawn, now only pain endures.
You find the Crypts overrun with the Mawsworn's more dangerous forces - Dreadlords, who have dominated the local Automa.
Our voices are muffled in the lingering dark.
If the song is to be restored, the Mawsworn, and their Automa, must be destroyed. (
擅闯者死
)
Darkness spreads dissonance throughout these halls. Mawsworn drain life from the air, and give only suffering in return. This must not be.
If the song is to be restored, silence is needed. The Mawsworn must be destroyed.
The Dreadlords have broken the flow of souls, causing the disruption in the song of creation. You need to seal the breaches they have caused - Saezurah explains you can do this by aligning the spheres. (
万物之理序
)
Essences of ancient souls, tampered with--they bleed from each room. The halls must be restored, the flow of souls redirected.
The spheres hold the key. Seal the breaches, restore the flow, then the vessel may be filled.
Saezurah says: Align the spheres. Only then can harmony be restored.
As you work to restore the flow of souls, Pelagos wonders at their presence here, and why they were never sent to an afterlife. Since it's possible for these souls to be used to create an Arbiter, what else could they be used to create?
Pelagos says: Those must be the spheres. Try pushing them into place!
Pelagos says: If this is where the Arbiter was made, then which came first? These souls or... so many questions.
Pelagos says: These souls can be used to create the Arbiter, but can they become other beings as well?
The golden hour of silence. A space for creation to begin.
A breath held--anticipation. Soon, the soul will merge, and the song of creation will begin.
With the flow of souls redirected once again, Saezurah sends you to fetch Firim and the empty vessel, along with the rescued Automa Scryers. (

The spheres are in place. A melody builds. Go--bring forth the chorus of Scryers, that the cycle of rebirth may begin.
Saezurah says: The hour approaches. Summon the scryers.
The chamber is safe, we can proceed with the ritual.
Firim says: We shall soon witness the purpose of these sacred halls. I can scarecely believe it!
The rustle of creation, whisper in the dark. We may begin.
With everything in place, Saezurah is ready to perform the ritual. (
遗忘的旧识
)
It is time. The song shall bring life anew. Tell me when you are ready to begin.
Saezurah says: The time has come. The halls have healed. A new Arbiter waits in the wings.
Let's begin the ritual.
Saezurah says: The chorus assembles. The vessel awaits. Your voice must join them.
You activate the empty vessel, but as the ritual progresses, Saezurah senses a disturbance.
Suddenly, one of the Automa Scryers reveals itself to be a Dreadlord, infusing the empty vessel with the soul of Argus the Unmaker. As they do, they speak of the Jailer's gambit: suggesting it was this titan's soul - corrupted with the Jailer's Death magic - that broke the Artiber in the first place.
Saezurah says: Dissonance... a melody lost long ago...
Darkseeer Corrupter says: Long have we awaited this moment. The Banished One's gambit made manifest...
Pelagos says: Something is interfering with the ritual!
Darkseeer Corrupter says: A world-soul twisted by Death. A maul with which to crush the Arbiter...
Darkseeer Corrupter says: And now it shall take this vessel! Argus will be Eternal!
Before you know what's happening, the Dreadlord has hijacked the ritual to resurrect an
阿古斯的回响
. For what seems to have been the second time, the Jailer's allies have used Argus to deny the Shadowlands an Arbiter.
Lore Spotlight: Argus the Unmaker
Argus, "the emerald star", was originally the homeworld of the eredar. Like Azeroth, this world was uniquely special, as it contained the world-soul of a sleeping Titan - a race of godlike, planet-sized cosmic beings of Order. When the planet fell to the Burning Legion, the world-soul inside was twisted and corrupted, used to
fuel the Legion's infinite army
.
To defeat the Burning Legion, we had to sever this connection to the world-soul. In the
安托鲁斯,燃烧王座
raid, the Pantheon of Titans transported Argus to the Seat of the Pantheon, where we faced and killed the tormented world-soul. Though this put Argus out of his misery and saved Azeroth from the Burning Legion, it seems the Dreadlords of the Legion were playing the Jailer's, or perhaps Denathrius', long-game.
Imbued with Death magic by the Dreadlords, we now know Argus's own death broke the Arbiter, throwing the Shadowlands into the chaos that we found it in when we arrived.
Even as only an echo, Argus is a dire threat that needs to be dealt with immediately. As you fight the fallen world soul, he draws energy from soul conduits, but destroying them helps you defeat him once and for all. As you do, the rest of the Covenant forces arrive, drawn by the sound of the commotion.
Kleia says: Argus draws energy from that Soul Conduit... Maw Walker, you must destroy it!
Kleia says: Again Maw Walker, destroy the conduit!
Echo of Argus says: Is it... over?
Saezurah says: The song is silent... is silent.
Secutor Mevix says: Maw Walker! What happened?
The disruption has broken the ritual - the empty vessel and Arcane Scryers lie motionless on the floor.
Dissonance lingers. A pure tone is needed. Reset the cycle anew.
You ask Saezurah what to do, but her reply is cryptic, and you're unsure what she means. Uncertainly, you begin to set up the ritual again. (
转折之时
)
A pause, devoid of breath. A melody lingers on. The cycle awaits a voice.
<You are unsure of what Saezurah means. Perhaps you should try to set up the ritual again, starting with the Vessel and the scryers.>
Saezurah says: The melody fades, a plaintive refrain. The cycle awaits a voice.
Nadjia the Mistblade says: What is she talking about? We don't need riddles, we need answers!
Secutor Mevix says: What's our next plan, Maw Walker?
Droman Aliothe says: There must be another answer.
You approach the empty vessel, but the soul within is gone.
<Remnant energies drift off the vessel.>
Examine the Vessel.
<Nothing remains of the soul that was contained within.>
You also examine the Automa, but most are damaged beyond repair.
<Though separated, some of this Automa's parts seem to be intact.>
<Sparks still flicker across the body of this Automa.>
<This Automa appears hopelessly shattered.>
<Though somewhat intact, there is no sign of life within this Automa.>
Examine the Automa.
<There is no chance it will function again.>
Kleia feels quite without hope.
I do not wish to say it but... it seems we have failed, my friend.
Desperate, she turns to you, but you can think of nothing. (
我为众魂
)
Without the Arbiter to stem the flow of souls to the Maw, the Shadowlands will never be fully repaired.
This cannot be the end. Surely you can think of something?
Just as all seems lost, Pelagos speaks up.
Kleia says: Maw Walker--friend, do not blame yourself. I just wish there were some way--
Pelagos says: There is a way.
What do you mean?
To Kleia's great surprise, Pelagos offers his own soul to become Arbiter. Kleia is shocked, and at first distressed at the thought of losing a beloved Soulbind, but Pelagos reassures her. He believes that this may have even been his destiny all along, and even as Arbiter, their souls will never lose their bond.
Saezurah accepts Pelagos's offer - his soul is worthy and pure. She completes the ritual, merging Pelagos with the vessel.
Kleia says: Pelagos... What do you mean?
Pelagos says: In service to the Shadowlands, I offer my soul.
Kleia says: What? No!
Pelagos says: I have yet to ascend, Kleia. Perhaps there was a reason for it.
Kleia says: But your soul--you do not have to do this!
Pelagos says: I know. This is my choice, sister.
Pelagos says: My purpose.
Kleia says: I do not want to let you go.
Pelagos says: Our souls are bound as one.
Saezurah says: Pelagos says: We will never be apart.
Saezurah says: A new voice, freely offered.
Saezurah says: A worthy soul, pure and unburdened.
Saezurah says: Balance... restored.
The scene clears and Pelagos looms above you, now wearing the ropes and the power of the Arbiter. Kleia flies up until the two soulbinds are face to face, and asks him if he is still himself. He promises that he is who he has always been - but now, so much more as well.
仲裁官裴拉戈斯
is ready to take his place in
奥利波斯
.
Kleia says: Pelagos? Are you... still you?
The Arbiter says: Yes, Kleia. I am whom I have always been... and yet so much more.
The Arbiter says: My path has become clear. I must take my place in Oribos.
Kleia says: Go in service, brother of my heart. We will meet you there.
The Arbiter says: Farewell, my friends.
Saezurah is entirely satisfied.
A new voice added to the chorus -- the cycle continues ever onward.
She believes Firim can open a portal back to his sanctury for you. (
功在千秋
)
This song has been completed, and harmony has been restored. Yet Zereth Mortis remains haunted by discord.
Dissonance lingers still, outside these walls. We must leave before it finds us.
Speak with the one you call Firim--he will open the way.
Saezurah says: The pattern is made whole. We return and continue.
Once in Exile's Hollow, Kleia pulls you aside.
Kleia says: May I share a word with you, my friend?
I can hardly believe all we've accomplished... truly, this is a day worth remembering. We could not have achieved this without you, my friend.
She confides that at first she was upset by Pelagos' choice - but now she sees how wrong she was. She wishes to go see him, and asks if you will join her. (
灵魂交织
)
I must confess, at first I thought Pelagos was making a horrible sacrifice. But now I see--he was giving the Shadowlands all the hope and compassion he holds in his heart. We should go and see him.
Speak with Tal-Inara when you reach Oribos.
I will meet you there, my friend.
Kleia says: Pelagos... after so long, he has ascended higher than us all...
Within the Arbiter's chamber, Pelagos greets you warmly, and tells you how he is now able to perform his duties. No longer will souls be sent directly to the Maw - Pelagos may direct them to the afterlives they deserve. A great deal of damage to the Shadowlands has been repaired this day.
However, if you want to truly restore balance to the Shadowlands, one thing remains. In this, Pelagos, the Arbiter, has faith that you and your allies will succeed. You must return to the
初诞者圣墓
raid and defeat Zovaal once and for all.
Arbiter Pelagos says: --and tell Adrestes I am sorry I could not become an acolyte.
Kleia says: Somehow, I think he will understand.
Arbiter Pelagos says: Maw Walker! My briend, without you, I may never have found my path.
Arbiter Pelagos says: Now I can direct the flow of souls to the afterlives they justly deserve.
Arbiter Pelagos says: Yet one goal remains before us. To truly restore balance to the Shadowlands, the Jailer must be defeated.
Arbiter Pelagos says: I have faith that the Maw Walker and their allies will succeed.
Arbiter Pelagos says: Go in service, friends. Oribos--and all the Shadowlands--are counting on you.
Kleia can only agree.
Pelagos is right. But if anyone can accomplish what is needed... I believe it is you, my friend.
Lore Spotlight: What Makes a God?
It is important to note that, as Arbiter, Pelagos is now a being with the sort of power equivalent to many other beings we see as gods in the World of Warcraft Universe. An Arbiter is an Eternal One, like the Primus and the Winter Queen. The Eternal Ones make up the Pantheon of Death - in the same way that the Titans make up the Pantheon of Order, or the way that the goddess Elune is a powerful deity of Life. In fact, the Winter Queen is Elune's sister.
Through this ritual, we have witnessed how an Eternal One is created: a vessel is merged with a powerful soul. This is in keeping with what we have seen. The Prototype Pantheon encounter in the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid has us go up against unfinished versions of the Eternal Ones - perhaps these are vessels that have been merged with unworthy souls. After we kill Zovaal, we witness him transform back into the empty vessel his soul no doubt once occupied.
This is also in keeping with what we know about other great and powerful beings as well. Titans are made from World Souls. And if World Souls can become gods, then why not others - equally as powerful and worthy?
This may explain how the Winter Queen and Elune can be sisters - while also belonging to different Pantheons. Of course, this raises the question - what souls were used to create the rest of the Eternal Ones? We keep thinking about how the White Lady, one of Azeroth's moons, is already associated with Elune, and about
Azeroth's lesser-known second moon, the Blue Child
. And is it at all possible, for example, that the Primus could have been created from a powerful being
from Azeroth's ancient history
?
Once again, we find ourselves returning to Azeroth, and the way that every cosmological force seems to be extremely interested in our planet. The Titans believe Azeroth will eventually become a Titan of Order, like them. However, we also already know the Void have been eagerly seeking to claim Azeroth's soul for themselves. If it's possible for the soul of Argus to be merged with one of Zereth Mortis's empty vessels, then surely Azeroth's soul also has this potential? Titans don't usually go to the Shadowlands - Argus was an unusual case - but then again, we were repeatedly told, "Death comes for the soul of your world".
When granting us the vision that would lead us to the empty vessel, the Oracle used titanic, draconic, demonic, and old god language to speak the word 'vessel'. The implication does seem to be that this ritual is not restricted to creating new members of the Pantheon of Death.
And while, of course, it's also clear that the soul used does not have to belong to a world if it's going to become something as powerful as an Eternal One, but merely that it has to be worthy, Azeroth herself seems so very sought after - perhaps some souls have the potential to become more powerful than others.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
At long last, we have thwarted the Jailer's schemes.
Both the Forge of Afterlives and Azeroth's world-soul have been restored, and the Shadowlands can now begin to recover from the anima drought.
I know it is in your nature to push ever forward. But this was a monumental victory, and it deserves a moment of reflection.
Cinematic Analysis: The Jailer's Fall
Together, you reflect on
典狱长
defeat in the
初诞者圣墓
.
As Zovaal falls to his knees, we see the armor he wears begin to burn away. His life seems to flash before his eyes as we catch glimpses of the things that have happened - the soul of Azeroth streaming into the Shadowlands, Zovaal in full armor, Zovaal as we first knew him, wearing only his chains and collar, an empty place where his heart used to be - as he calls out.
Zovaal: This must not be!
His memories finally seem to settle, and we realize we are witnessing his judgment, when the other Eternal Ones, shocked at his desire to wield the power of Zereth Mortis to change reality, stripped him of his duties and sentenced him to his role as the Jailer of the Maw. In these flashbacks, the Eternal Ones are standing over Zovaal, accusatory as they reprimand him. The Archon is most shocked at his betrayal of duty. The Winter Queen is upset that the threatened the cycle of Life and Death. Sire Denathrius, who we know would later join with the Jailer, seems to mostly admonish Zovaal for not finding a different way.
The Archon: You have betrayed your duty as Arbiter, and shall be bound forevermore
The Winter Queen: Your madness has threatened the cycle of Life and Death entire.
Sire Denathrius: You could have sought another way, brother. Imagine what we could have accomplished together.
All the while, we watch as Zovaal seems to writhe in pain as the armor he wears burns off him, in a way not unsimilar to the way Anduin's Domination armor fell off him - but in Zovaal's case it does not stop with his armor. He stares at his hand as it, too, starts to transform into the vessel that he - like all of the Eternal Ones - is made from.
As we see Zovaal chained and on his knees, the Primus arrives. We never see the Primus in this cinematic, but he casts his shadow over Zovaal as we hear the clinking of the chains that bind him.
The Primus asks Zovaal why, and we hear something the Eternal Ones never shared with us when they recounted this story: Zovaal's own defense for his actions.
The Primus. Why, Zovaal. What drove you to this end?
The Jailer: You preserve that which is doomed. A cosmos divided will not survive what is to come.
Throughout the Shadowlands, the Jailer has been transparently evil - almost cartoonishly so. From the moment we witnessed him discarding Baine as "unworthy", to the introduction to our fight with him, where he told us Death claims the soul of our world, we have never once seen Zovaal behave in a way that isn't stereotypically villainous. Which is why it's so disconcerting where we see him humanized here for perhaps the first time - his face seems to soften as he explains his motivations.
The scene changes once again to the present, and we see Zovaal, now fully transformed into his vessel form, whispering his warning as the light in his eyes fade - and the tear between the Shadowlands and our own world closes.
The rift between the worlds has healed, and we are left with a rather sad-looking empty vessel, and a warning about a threat, "what is to come".
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
A new era for the Shadowlands begins today.
Lore Spotlight: What IS to Come?
As we know from the Cosmology charts of the Chronicles books and the Grimoire of the Shadowlands, the cosmos are divided into six major forces: Life and Death, Light and Shadow, Order and Disorder. However, there have been several hints of a seventh cosmological force. According to a
series of lore books found in Tazavesh
, that were actually written by our friend Firim, this seventh force may be the one that created or ordered the rest of the universe, and holds all the other forces in place.
*
The same books also contain hints that all six cosmological forces are after the power of Azerth - and that perhaps an outside, seventh force may want it as well.
**
We have already speculated that the seventh force are the elusive "First Ones", of whom Steve Danuser said the following in an interview early last year,
"Clearly, they were these very mysterious and powerful beings that architected the very framework of the Universe, of which the Titans, the Pantheon of Death, Pantheons of all these different influences, are like the next layer down from those First Ones, those progenitors of the Universe."
When we came to Zereth Mortis, we rather expected to meet the First Ones. Zereth Mortis is, after all, their workshop. But they've not been seen at all. Though the Enlightened and the Eternal Ones do seem to consider them unfailingly benevolent, we have no way of knowing that for sure ourselves. That said, there is reason to believe Zovaal's threat is not referring to the First Ones at all. Once again, we return to Firim's writings, where he suggests a force outside of the cosmos that is not necessarily the seventh force he spoke of before.

Bolvar asks you to head to Oribos. The Judgment of Sylvanas Windrunner awaits. (

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
With the Jailer defeated, we must now turn our attention to healing the wounds he inflicted upon the Shadowlands. That process begins with Sylvanas Windrunner.
Though she proved instrumental to our victory, the terrible atrocities she committed have been neither forgotten nor forgiven. She is to face the new Arbiter's judgment in Oribos.
Uther awaits you in the Ring of Fates. Together, you will escort Sylvanas to the Crucible.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: I shall deliver the Crown of Wills to the Arbiter. Then we will bear witness to the fate of Sylvanas Windrunner.
You meet with Uther and Sylvanas in the Ring of Fates. A hostile crowd stand around them, lining the walls or Oribos, jeering at the Banshee Queen.
Uther says: Be warned. Their words will be harsh.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: I expect no less.
Word of Sylvanas' arrival has spread throughout the Shadowlands. Many wish to see her pay for her crimes.
Together, you and Uther will escort Sylvanas past the crowd. (

The Arbiter awaits us. Though few are allowed within the Crucible, several who hail from Azeroth have been granted permission to bear witness as he passes judgment on Sylvanas.
Yet we are far from the only ones affected by all the carnage Sylvanas has wrought. Her actions have brought pain and suffering to a great many.
Screaming back at the Banshee as she passes might be their only chance to speak their mind. Let them be heard.
Uther says: Come. Let us be on our way.
<Escort Sylvanas to the Enclave.>
Sylvari Artisan says: You defiled our sacred groves!
Apprentice Ritualist says: Torment is all you deserve!
Venthyr Aristocrat says: Your sins are beyond measure!
Kyrian Aspirant says: How many souls have you doomed?!
Orc Soul says: We tursted you! You betrayed us all!
Night Elf Soul says: My home! My family! All burned to ashes!
Sylvanas is calm in the face of the accusing cries, and when Uther wonders if it is justice or revenge that they seek, she tells him that pain can make it hard to know the difference.
Uther says: Is it justice they seek? Or vengeance?
Sylvanas Windrunner says: Anger and pain make it difficult to tell the difference.
Tal-Inara teleports you to the Crucible, where you find
仲裁官裴拉戈斯
addressing the waiting crowd.
Arbiter Pelagos says: The flow of souls into the Maw has ended. The covenants, and the Shadowlands, have been restored. Only one task remains.
Arbiter Pelagos
Thank you for joining us, my friend.
I felt it important that you be here to witness this moment.
Cinematic Analysis: Judgment - Part 1
When you are ready, you may witness the Arbiter's judgment. (
希尔瓦娜斯的命运
)
Arbiter Pelagos
The time has come.
Let this bring the dark saga of Sylvanas Windrunner to a close and herald a new dawn for the Shadowlands.
Speak to me, and we will begin.
The cinematics open with Pelagos announcing Sylvanas' judgment.
Arbiter Pelagos says: Sylvanas Windrunner... The time for your judgment is at hand.
As she steps forward, Sylvanas glances to her side. Tyrande Whisperwind, flanked by her adopted daughter, Shandris Feathermoon, and the Warden, Maiev Shadowsong, is glaring at her with pure loathing. Once, Sylvanas may have returned the hostility, but instead she lowers her eyes, then turns her attention back to Arbiter Pelagos before her.
Pelagos, who is wearing the Crown of Wills, seems prepared to offer Sylvanas a compassionate judgment, one that acknowledges the Eternal Ones' own role in her fall.
Interestingly, when Pelagos talks about the Eternal Ones's failure to control the Jailer's influence, he uses the pronoun "we" as he glances at the Winter Queen - indicating not only that this was the Eternal Ones' responsibility, but also that - as an Eternal One himself - he bears partial responsibility for their actions.
Arbiter Pelagos says: There can be no true justice without compassion... and I can see your deeds bear the mark of the Jailer's influence. An influence we failed to contain.
Sylvanas seems to show no interest in shifting blame away from herself, and speaks up, confidently claiming her actions as her own, and accepting the consequences as her own as well. Pelagos seems prepared to agree, and, pressing his hands to his heart, tells Sylvanas he expects her to know who really needs to be the one to judge her.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: The Jailer did not control me. My actions were mine alone, and I accept their consequences.
Sylvanas understands, and speaks aloud the name. Her judge will be Tyrande, leader of the Night Elves, thousands of whom Sylvanas murdered when she burned Teldrassil.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: I submit to the judgment... of Tyrande Whisperwind.
As Sylvanas speaks Tyrande's name, the crowd gasps. Pelagos voices the reason behind their surprise - Sylvanas has chosen to put her fate in the hands of the one who hates her most. As Pelagos asks the crowd if anyone objects to this, Anduin looks, for a moment, like he might - opening his mouth as if he wants to speak - but then he seems to change his mind, and he holds his silence.
Arbiter Pelagos says: Entrusting justice to your most fervent adversary. Are there any gathered here who object to this fate?
Nobody else speaks up, and so the decision is made. Tyrande will be the one to judge Sylvanas.
Arbiter Pelagos says: So be it.
Tyrande strides forward, anger and loathing still visible in her face, and holds her blade to Sylvana's throat, close enough that Sylvanas has to tilt back her head. Aggression and suspicion radiate from her as she questions Sylvanas' motives in asking for her to be judge. Sylvanas is passive, submissive, and Tyrande doesn't trust it - it's so out of character for the Banshee.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: What game do you play now, Banshee? The Sylvanas I hunted would never submit to the blade of her enemy.
Sylvanas' reply is almost gentle, and her face shows signs of weariness as she answers simply that death would be a merciful end, but that she does not expect that mercy from Tyrande.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: Death would be a merciful end, Tyrande. And I do not expect your mercy.
Sylvanas is right. Tyrande lowers her blade, she does not intend to kill Sylvanas, and she even acknowledges that Sylvanas' apparent remorse may be real, but she is not about to be merciful either. Sylvanas cannot have peace for as long as those she harmed do not.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Your newfound remorse might be genuine... but it can never erase all you have done. There will be no peace for you, Windrunner... until there is peace for the souls of your victims.
Tyrande's conviction is clear in her body language as she makes this statement. As she says the word "you", she quickly looks Sylvanas up and down, her disdain obvious, and as she says the word "victims", she emphasizes the word with a slight stamp - they are the ones Tyrande cares about, who she is determined will see justice.
Finally, Tyrande turns and strides away, declaring Sylvanas to be in her charge. We see Shandris and Maiev stepping forward to take Sylvanas into custody, and the scene fades.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: The prisoner is in my charge now. Bring her!
Arbiter Pelagos
How could I possibly pass judment to Tyrande's satisfaction when she and her people were the ones most wronged by the Banshee Queen?
Pelagos asks you to meet Tyrande in the Ring of Tranference and witness the judgment of Sylvanas Windrunner. (
赎罪与新生
)
Arbiter Pelagos
When I became the new Arbiter, I vowed to myself that I would listen to those around me, to take their counsel into consideration before passing eternal judgment.
I have an inkling of what Tyrande intends for Sylvanas. Her fury is tempered by wisdom, and I trust in the decision she has made.
Meet her in the Ring of Transference and see her judgment come to pass.
Arbiter Pelagos says: True justice brings both punishment... and renewal. I trust in Tyrande to achieve both.
You find Tyrande waiting in front of the entrance to the Maw. Maiev, Shandris, and Tyrande's spirit owl companion, Dori-thur, around her. Nearby, Lady Jaina Proudmoore, Genn Greymane, and Anduin Wrynn. Thrall, Lor'themar Theron, and Baine Bloodhoof make up another group. To the side, Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, Tal-Inara, and Uther. And finally, standing with Sylvanas, her sisters - Vereesa and Alleria Windrunner.
Vereesa Windrunner says: ...and now, after so long... there is much we need to say to one another...
Sylvanas Windrunner says: I know, sisters. But judgment comes.
Before Tyrande's judgment, almost every character has something to say, their words sometimes changing, depending on the player.
Ah, <player>. Before I face the coming judgment, I would share words with you.
I was recently reminded that we cannot change the past. If you choose to hate me for the things I've done, I could not blame you for it.
But know this. We shared common cause once, and you have proven your dedication to the Horde time and again. I hope that you will continue to defend it, no matter what may come.
<player>. It is fitting that we share a few final words here, as I stand upon the precipice of judgment.
You have shown me loyalty time and time again, even when others spurned you for it. Even when my own actions did not merit such dedication.
I'm not certain what fate awaits me. But if one day I have need of trusted allies, I know that I can call upon you.
Ah, <player>. You have little reason to listen to my words, but I offer them nonetheless.
Nothing I can say or do can change what I have done. My judgement is at hand, and I accept whatever comes.
In life, I fought to protect my home. It is good that Azeroth has you and your allies to defend her.
Farewell.
As I fought demons for centuries across the Twisting Nether, I clung to the hope that I would one day hold my son again, and stand beside my sisters once more.
I could never have imagined the fate that befell Sylvanas, or the monstrous choices she would make thereafter.
Vereesa desperately hopes that the return of her soul fragment means that our sister has been returned to us. I am less certain.
But I have learned to be patient. I will be watching...
After witnessing Sylvanas's deeds during the war, I feared the last vestige of the sister I knew was gone forever.
But when I heard what transpired here in the Shadowlands, I had to come and see for myself.
I'd understand if you thought me a fool for still having hope, but... I have lost so many that I loved.
If there is even a chance that a spark of the Sylvanas I knew has returned, then I refuse to give up on her.
The shadow of the things I've seen... what the Jailer forced me to do... hangs over me.
For the part you played in setting me free, I'll always be grateful.
But I cannot pretend that I can simply go back to being the person I was. I need... time.
I must ask more of you. The Alliance will need your dedication, now more than ever.
The shadow of the things I've seen... what the Jailer forced me to do... hangs over me.
For the part you played in setting me free, I'll always be grateful.
But I cannot pretend that I can simply go back to being the person I was. I need... time.
No doubt the Horde will rely upon your courage in the days ahead. Defend Azeroth, <player>. No matter what comes.
I will never forgive the Banshee for what she did to Teldrassil. Or Gilneas.
Or my son.
<Greymane clenches his fist.>
But for now, our focus must turn to Anduin. He will need our help to recover from what he's endured.
I refuse to believe that your fallen Warchief feels even the slightest remorse for her crimes.
When will she answer for what she did to my people? To my son?
<Greymane glowers.>
You have much to answer for as well.
We sin'dorei are no strangers to suffering and tragedy. I have seen my people massacred, my kingdom razed, and all I revere defiled.
When Silvermoon at last rejoined the world, it was Sylvanas who extended her hand and welcomed us into the Horde.
Those days are long behind us now. The devastation and loss inflicted upon Azeroth by the Banshee Queen is nigh incalculable.
The knowledge that I stood by while so much of it happened still haunts me. Perhaps, in the end, judgment will come for me as well.
Sylvanas had me imprisoned and tortured for defying her, though the pain she inflicted upon me pales in comparison to that of her other victims.
For a time, I hated her for what she did to me and to the Horde. But hatred is a poison. Once it seeps into your veins, it will spell your doom.
It is right that Sylvanas faces justice for all she has done. The guilty must stand before those they have wronged... and answer for their crimes.
When Sylvanas sent her Mawsworn to capture me, all I wanted was to escape. To leave the Shadowlands behind and return to my home. My family.
And yet, this journey has taught me so much. About my mother, about myself, and about the legacy we all leave behind.
This was not the path I would have chosen. But perhaps it was the path I needed to walk.
As I sat for years upon the Frozen Throne, I felt a malevolent shadow upon my mind. I did not realize it was the Jailer attempting to twist me into yet another of his pawns.
It took all of my resolve to resist his influence. And still, I have no way of knowing how many of my actions furthered Icecrown Citadel's true purpose.
That is what is most insidious about him. Even after the Jailer's defeat, the doubt he sowed within each of us lives on.
In life, Sylvanas Windrunner served as Ranger-General of Silvermoon. If you had told her then of the atrocities she would commit in undeath, she wouldn't have believed you.
We all sometimes harbor darkness in our hearts. I nearly succumbed to mine. What I did to Arthas could have become the first step on a path to damnation.
Yet from understanding flows compassion, and compassion can save us from any darkness. It is an ideal to which we must all aspire... though we must never forget that it does not come easily.
Balance has been restored to the Shadowlands, Maw Walker.
To that end, Arbiter Pelagos invites you to visit him within the Crucible whenever you so choose.
Blessed be his voice.
The kaldorei--those who burned as well as those who survived -- have long awaited this moment. To know that the Banshee will be made to answer for all she has done.
Many called for her head. Some still do. and I doubt that anything less will satisfy them.
But Sylvanas spoke true when she said death would be a mercy. And if she can spare souls from the torments of the Maw, then perhaps her penance will prove more valuable than her execution.
Do you believe this to be justice, <class>? That Sylvanas be allowed to endure after slaughtering countless innocents?
There was a time when rage clouded my vision and I turned my glaive against my own people.
And after my beloved comrade, Sira, was struck down and raised into undeath, she unleashed her hatred against us.
By rights, both our lives were forfeit. Yet I was given a chance to mend that which I had sought to tear asunder. Not for my sake, but for those whom I had wronged. I pray Sira may receive that chance as well.
As for Sylvanas, I do not know if this is justice. But I believe that it is right.
The Banshee tore a gaping wound in the soul of my people. She set our home aflame and sent countless kaldorei to the Maw.
Whatever judgment the Arbiter hands down can never balance the scales. Nothing he can do or say will ever be enough.
Cinematic Analysis: Judgment - Part 2
Finally, you speak with Tyrande, letting her know you are ready to witness Sylvanas' judgment.
Tyrande's judgment is this: Sylvanas will enter the Maw. Here, she will find every soul, lost and tortured, in this place, and send them to Arbiter Pelagos for judgment - until every last soul is free. As she details the punishment, Tyrande circles around Sylvanas, still angry, a snarl still on her face as she thinks of the things Sylvanas has done. For her part, Sylvanas keeps her face lowered, her eyes downcast, glimpsing up for only a moment to meet Tyrande's. Finally, Tyrande turns to the onlookers - a gesture that indicates they are here to witness that justice has been done.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Below lies the Maw. An unjust fate to which you doomed so many. And it will be there... that your penance begins. Every soul lost in its depths, betrayed or condemned... You shall find and send forth to the Arbiter to be judged with the compassion all souls deserve. You will toil there, under Dori'thur's watchful eye, scouring every darkened reach, until the final soul is free, and you are all that remains. This... is how you shall bring renewal to your victims, and my people.
Sylvanas speaks, only to agree. She accepts her punishment without argument.
Sylvanas Windrunner says: However long it takes... it shall be done.
Tyrande's spirit owl, Dori'thur, rests on her arm, as Tyrande tasks her with keeping an eye on Sylvanas - making sure she completes her task.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Andu-falah-dor, old friend. Watch her well.
Sylvanas approaches the entrance to the Maw. Before she jumps, she glances back over her shoulder, to take a last look at her sisters. Alleria's expression is stern, angry. Vereesa's soft, sad. Sylvanas turns her back on them, and jumps, Dori'thur following close behind.
Tyrande Whisperwind
Justice for Teldrassil. Peace for the kaldorei.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: The Banshee's penance will save countless lost souls. A fate that would not have come to pass had I slain her in Ardenweald.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Perhaps that is why Mother Moon stayed my hand.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: I thank you for your aid. Soon I must return to Azeroth to begin healing the kaldorei and preserving our future.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: The Horde inflicted a grievous wound upon my people. You may never earn my trust... but you have my thanks for setting things right.
Aftermath: Conversations
Several important conversations become available after completing Epilogue: Judgment.
Alleria & Vereesa
Before you leave, you may pause to listen to a conversation between Alleria and Vereesa, who have lingered behind to talk about their sister.
When the sisters last met leading up to Battle for Azeroth, it ended on a bittersweet note as they were unable to reconcile. Though it seemed Sylvanas secretly planned to assassinate them afterwards, Vereesa's emotional apology for abandoning Sylvanas in War Crimes - a traumatic moment explored in the latest Sylvanas novel - ended up convincing her to call off the plan.
Here, the sisters are more optimistic that hope lies in their future, with a possibility that the three sisters will reunite one day.
Vereesa Windrunner says: For so long, there had been little more than hatred and malice in our sister's eyes. To at last see a glimmer of the Sylvanas we knew...
Alleria Windrunner says: I had ceased hoping for such a thing. I am pleased we had a chance to speak with her, Vereesa.
Vereesa Windrunner says: I only wish we'd had more time!
Alleria Windrunner says: As do I. But if she stays true to her word and sees this obligation through, perhaps one day we will.
Vereesa Windrunner says: It will never be like it was before. The pain she inflicted upon the Kaldorei... upon the world... how could she ever answer for it?
Alleria Windrunner says: I'm not certain she can. But if her penance brings any measure of peace to those she wrong, at least it is a start.
Vereesa Windrunner says: You're right, Lady Sun. Our family has endured so much darkness. We must find a way to cling to hope.
Alleria Windrunner says: Yes, Little Moon. Mother, Father, Lirath... they are only memories. We thought our sister was as well. But now... we shall see.
Bolvar Fordragon & Darion Mograine
Nearby, you may listen to Highlords Bolvar Fordragon and Darion Mograine as they discuss the Helm of Domination, the Scourge, and Frozen Throne.
Darion, the current leader of the Four Horsemen, served Bolvar directly during his rule as the Lich King. In the short story
We Ride Forth
, we learned Bolvar tricked the Four Horsemen into thinking he was succumbing to the corrupt power of the helm so they'd be goaded into planning his demise. Bolvar hoped that the Four Horsemen would unite and take down whoever won the duel with Sylvanas and donned the Helm of Domination, but he was not prepared for Sylvanas to shatter the crown.
Here, we see Darion convince Bolvar that he does not need to return to Icecrown Citadel following the events of Shadowlands--but instead should spend time with his daughter, Taelia.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Without the Helm of Domination to control them, the Scourge roams leaderless. Nothing remains to temper their aggression.
Highlord Darion Mograine says: Indeed. The mightiest among them already vie for supremacy. Like vicious warlords in the wake of their king's death.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: We cannot allow any of them to seize command and unite their forces. The Ebon Blade must remain vigilant.
Highlord Darion Mograine says: And so we shall. Though Azeroth may never truly be rid of the Scourge, we will keep them in check. You have my word.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Icecrown Citadel remains a seat of dark power. We must not let it fall into enemy hands. Perhaps I should return to--
Highlord Darion Mograine says: No, Bolvar. Let the Frozen Throne sit vacant. The Knights of the Ebon Blade will safeguard the citadel in your stead. Taelia needs her father.
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Darion... thank you. Strange, is it not? We both lived lives of service, and even after facing death itself, we still feel compelled to serve others.
Highlord Darion Mograine says: Sometimes the greatest act of service is to be present for those who need us. Until we meet again, Highlord.
Genn Greymane & Anduin Wrynn
If you choose to visit the Arbiter's Chamber, you may overhear a conversation between Genn Greymane and Anduin Wrynn.
Leading up to the events of Shadowlands, Anduin was abducted by Sylvanas' Val'kyr in front of Genn Greymane, who views Anduin as a son. Now, as the two leaders reunite, we learn that Anduin does not want to return to his old leadership position quite yet, content to have Turalyon remain
in charge of the Alliance forces
. Turalyon's approach towards leadership is less pacifist than Anduin's, so it will be interesting to see if old conflicts reopen under his rule.
Genn Greymane says: I can't tell you how relieved I am to see you safe, my king. Even after reading Jaina's reports, I can scarcely imagine the horrors you endured.
Anduin Wrynn says: There were times I thought I would never escape the Jailer's control. The things he made me do...
Genn Greymane says: Those actions were not your fault! You cannot blame yourself.
Anduin Wrynn says: I... I should have been stronger...
Genn Greymane says: Anduin Wrynn, you are the strongest man I know. And when you return to Stormwind, the whole kingdom will tell you the same.
Anduin Wrynn says: I can't go back, Genn. Not yet.
Genn Greymane says: But the people need--
Anduin Wrynn says: Turalyon will keep the Alliance safe in my absence. And I know you'll watch over everyone we care about... Old Wolf.
Genn Greymane says: Of course. Take whatever time you need. And when you're ready... please, come home.
In the Epilogue of
World of Warcraft: Sylvanas
by Christie Golden, it's implied someone joins her in the Maw. Sylvanas hears the clank of metal armor, and remembers Anduin's words. It's possible Anduin has chosen to spend at least some of his time in the Shadowlands helping Sylvanas with her task.
She squared her shoulders.
No matter how long it takes
, she had said to Tyrande.
Let it begin now
.
But before Sylvanas could again stride forward into the vastness of the Maw, she heard a sound. One familiar--and utterly unexpected.
The distinctive
clank
of metal armor.
Hope
, Anduin had told her,
is what you have when all other things have failed you. Where there is hope, you make room for healing, for all things that are possible... and some that are not.
Sylvanas Windrunner felt hope rise within her, and for the first time in so very long, she invited it in.
The "distinctive clank of metal armor" in particular suggests Anduin, and this sound has been associated with him before. The following passage is from
Sylvanas
' Prologue:
Anduin cocked his head and looked at her searchingly.
As if mocking her he sat, somehow graceful, if clanking, in his armor. He reached for the water, toasted her, and drank.
"Go on then, Sylvanas Windrunner. Tell me these truths you have never shared. It would seem I have nothing but time."
If Anduin has chosen to help Sylvanas with her task, it could be because he knows first-hand what it is to be tormented in the Maw, and wishes to see others rescued from that terrible place. Or perhaps he simply wants to spend some time with Sylvanas, offering her the hope she needs in what might seem like an inescapable fate.
Genn Greymane & Lor'themar Theron
In the Arbiter's Chamber, a tense conversation can be witnessed between Genn Greymane and Lor'themar Theron, showing that some old faction wounds still remain after Sylvanas' judgment. While Lor'themar is optimistic that Sylvanas' harsh sentence will bring some degree of peace to the Alliance, Greymane is having none of it. In addition to losing his son at the hands of Sylvanas, Greymane's people have twice lost their homes to her invasions--Gilneas and Darnassus. Greymane also asks a question for which Lor'themar has no good answer--while some leaders of the Horde are quick to criticize Sylvanas now, why did they follow her orders in the past?
Lor'themar Theron says: Well met, King Greymane.
Genn Greymane says: Regent Lord.
Lor'themar Theron says: I hope the fate of Sylvanas Windrunner brings the Alliance some measure of peace.
Genn Greymane says: Peace? You stand in the Shadowlands, Regent Lord. Ask the dead she sent here whether they feel peace.
Genn Greymane says: As for me, that's something I will never know. Not while the monster who killed my son still endures.
Lor'themar Theron says: I understand. My people are haunted by the deeds of monsters as well.
Genn Greymane says: And what of you? Are you hoping that the ranger-general you served comes back from the Maw? Or would you prefer having your warchief again?
Lor'themar Theron says: I spent most of my life alongside the Windrunner family. Sylvanas was my hero... and my friend. But the banshee who nearly led the Horde to ruin was neither.
Genn Greymane says: Then you shouldn't have followed her commands. Good day, Regent Lord.
Lor'themar Theron says: Good day, King Greymane.
Baine Bloodhoof & Lor'themar Theron
A conversation between Baine Bloodhoof and Lor'themar Theron can also be heard in the Arbiter's Chamber, as they talk about the people they would want to find in the Shadowlands.
Baine has been an under-utilized character in Shadowlands. Initially captured by Sylvanas' Val'kyr and brought to the Maw at the start of the expansion, he's done little else since being freed by the player, taking a background role in the expansion in contrast to the other faction leaders. Though the
Tauren Heritage Armor questline
hinted at a Shadowlands reunion between Baine and his parents, we have yet to see such a reunion take place - and here, Baine suggests he does not need one - since his father's spirit is already always with him.
Lor'themar, in contrast, is interested in having one final conversation with Kael'thas in Revendreth. During the Third War, upon returning to Silvermoon and finding his kingdom decimated, Kael'thas appointed Lor'themar the Regent Lord of Quel'Thalas before leaving to fight the Scourge at Lordaeron. Kael'thas played an important role in the early Venthyr covenant questline, after we rescued him from Castle Nathria, where he was being used as an anima battery by Sire Denathrius.
Lor'themar Theron says: To think we now stand on the other side of the veil. That those we lost await us here among these countless afterlives.
Lor'themar Theron says: Is there... anyone you would seek out, Baine? For one last conversation before you reunite to the land of the living?
Baine Bloodhoof says: No need to spare my feelings, Lor'themar. You are asking if I wish to find my father.
Baine Bloodhoof says: The truth is... I do not need to. His spirit is always with me, where I go, whatever I do. Guiding me just as his ancestors guided him.
Baine Bloodhoof says: And what of you? Is there someone you would visit, given the chance?
Lor'themar Theron says: Prince Kael'thas. Long have I held the title of Regent Lord, all the while wondering if I was truly suited to lead my people.
Lor'themar Theron says: I would ask the last liege of Silvermoon if he regrets the choices he made. A chance to mend old wounds, and perhaps feel that the torch has truly been passed.
Baine Bloodhoof says: A feeling I understand all too well. I pray your conversation brings you the peace you seek, my friend.
Arbiter Pelagos and Kleia
Finally, in the Arbiter's Chamber, Pelagos talks with Kleia about how short a mortal life is and whether their actions in such a short span could truly make a soul worthy of eternal damnation. By the sounds of things, Pelagos is well on his way to becoming a wise and kind ruler, bringing not only justice to the Shadowlands, but mercy as well.
Arbiter Pelagos says: When my service to the Kyrian began and I first learned of the Maw, the knowledge filled me with sorrow.
Arbiter Pelagos says: A mortal life is so incredibly brief. I questioned whether any actions taken within that span of time could truly be worthy of eternal torment.
Kleia says: I confess that as an aspirant, I did not think of such things... only of duty. It was not until I witnessed Uther's plight that I recognized the injustice of the Maw.
Arbiter Pelagos says: Never again will a mortal soul be sent to its depths. All deserve a chance at redemption.
Arbiter Pelagos says: Recent events have shown us that a single mortal soul--in fact, every mortal soul--can alter the course of eternity.
Kleia says: Indeed... for good or for ill. In the end, it was mortals and their decisions that shaped the fate of the Shadowlands.
Arbiter Pelagos says: As Arbiter, I will take that lesson to heart. Every soul will be treated with compassion, and will be given a voice in which afterlife awaits them.

Typo in the quots for pelagos calling the Maw Walker a "briend" instead of friend
Arbiter Pelagos says: Maw Walker! My briend, without you, I may never have found my path.
