The Bee Mount (contains Spoilers!)
Opening the new Faction, Honeyback Hive
1.You need to have either
Bumbles
(7-day quest) or the
Seabreeze Bumblebee
(250 Polished pet charms)
2. Rez your bee and go to find Barry in Stormsong Valley. He will be standing by a boat at the water's edge near the Mildenhall Meadery Flight Point.
3. With the bee rezzed, Barry will begin a dialogue with you. Within a few seconds, your bee will fly to a newly formed green spot. Give him a moment to return to your side (or re-rez him later) and follow the green spots to the cave, located at 63, 27.
4. When you arrive the
Honeyback Hivemother
will fly up to you and shortly after Barry will arrive again. He will suggest you find "something" to appease her with. That something is "thin jelly". You will find the initial one at 63.2, 28.5. Get that and give it to the Honeyback Hivemother (HM).
5. Barry will have some dialogue and you will have to speak to him (uh-sure, is the only option). He will then go through a ritual dance with the HM.
6. Once that is complete, she will go inside the cave and become a vendor.
7. Barry continues his dialogue and walks over to a Nascent Harvester, (Left side of cave near entrance). Read the information Barry has available if you wish then offer the thin jelly to the Nascent Harvester.*
*This step is extremely important or you will not be able to see any further thin jelly nodes! You will be neutral with the Honeyback Hive and you be able to see and participate in killing the rares and the Bee Events but you will not get any jelly to drop!
Earning Rep
1. Now you're ready to search for the thin jelly nodes. If you use Gathermate2, there is an add on that works with it called Jelly Deposit Locations. It will mark the location of all known nodes but it will NOT indicate whether a node is actually present at that location. You will have to physically look for the node.
2. Once/day you can kill the
Honeybee Smasher
Rare Elite for a chance at jelly and other items and receive
500 rep 1/day
. Jelly is NOT Soulbound and can be mailed between toons and sold on the AH; therefore, consider bringing in any Lvl 120 alts to run this rare once/day and mail any jellies (Thin, Rich or Royal) to your main.
3. Thin Jelly = 20 rep Rich = 80 rep Royal= 160 rep
4. Keep an eye out for shafts of light, as these indicate a
Bee Event
is up or forthcoming. Announce it in General chat (/1 general) and likewise watch chat for others to announce it. WAIT for as many as possible to gather and consider forming a raid group to share buffs and heroism BEFORE starting the event.
The event is started when anyone talks to the friendly bee that appears within the shaft of light. From that point forward there is an absolute timer of
5 min to kill as many bees as possible
.
There are
6 possible Rare Elites
that each drop a quest
(turn in for 750 rep each)
and at the end of the event, a honeycomb to loot. The Rare Elites appear to be only rare once but the faster you kill the waves of bees, the more Rares can spawn. A good group can get to 3 rares in a single event. Once you've killed them, they will simply be elite and not rare.
5. Turn in jelly fairly frequently to the Nascent Harvester. The higher your rep, the more jelly you can potentially loot from nodes. At Revered, save up 20 Rich Jellys (can convert Thin to rich or Royal at the Hivemother) and buy the
Beeholder's Goggles
from Barry. This will allow you to see nodes easier. If you are fortunate and get a
Jelly Magnet
to drop SAVE it and use it after you buy your goggles. After you have the rares killed and are revered, you will probably loot more jellies by simply flying around. Using Monel-hardened stirrups speeds things up considerable. They will work in conjunction with the monel-hardened hoofplates (for speed) and the course leather barding (stun avoidance)
6. When you reach exalted, you will still have to farm jellies to get your now juvenile bee all the way to a mature Honeyback Harvester. Once there, he will give you a quest called "Leaving the Hive," which awards the Honeyback Harvester's Harness.
7. If you have trouble seeing the nodes, consider turning your view distance to 10 and your ground clutter to 1. This will make seeing them much easier. (Esc>System>Graphics> bottom left)
Hope this helps and you are soon the proud owner of your own Bee Mount! If you see errors or omissions, please let me know in the comments.

I still have to wonder where these bees came from. The Hivemother tells Berry they are not from this region, though what region means is unclear.
With Berry being a Kul'tiran, that tells me that the bees are not from Kul'tiras. And they don't appear anywhere else in the known world. So that tells me that the Honeyback Harvesters are not from a land we know.
