He tells you that he is a monk though he always wanted to be a demon hunter.
I wonder if it is a reference to Diablo or simply other WoW characters like Illidan.

I guess that he says that he is a monk though he always wanted to be a demon hunter because most players have expected a new class like Demon Hunter and not Monk.

Master Cheng
is standing a distance away between two training bags, where there will be trainees on each practicing punches.
Every once in a while he will use
Fiery Keg Smash
on the trainee, and the trainee will use
Roll
to back out of it until it has dissipated and then resume practicing on the bag.
Note that
Fiery Keg Smash
will hurt you if you are in range, so be careful.

If specced into
Invoke Xuen, The White Tiger
as a Brewmaster, he will taunt Master Cheng and will cause
Fiery Keg Smash
to fail.

This exercise appears glitched to me, because the game client displays a long message in huge yellow letters that declare "Master Cheng is burning you alive!" even when my PC is not standing in any fire, then sounds a blast of horns. There are two problems with that declaration.
One is that it is an annoying and harassing technique which expresses the contempt that Blizzard devs often appear to have for the people who play their games and pay the money which they take home every payday. Surely everyone who has a brain will realize that if their PC is standing in a pool of fire, then they are suffering damage -- just look at the Health bar.
As to the sound, the Blizzard devs exploit the innate
startle response
of the human nervous system as often as possible. However, it has been empirically shown that the startle response has a deleterious effect upon human health. This does not matter insofar as there are, in the context of natural evolution, few events that evoke it, and for those the burst of adrenaline is appropriate. Exploiting the startle response is what these fools seem to think is necessary to make their dullwitted games "exciting", if only because they don't know the difference between the effects of adrenaline and the effects of genuine excitement (which does not need any adrenaline at all). But perhaps I digress.
The second problem is that declaration appears every time that Master Cheng is within melee range of my PC regardless of whether the
Fiery Keg Smash
has been used. So it appears that either the message is wrong, as well as inappropriate, or that Master Cheng did use it but the pool of fire is not displayed on the screen.
Regardless, the PC's health begins declining rapidly when the first
Fiery Keg Smash
is used and the meter never stops decreasing under any circumstances, running like a timer.
Given the initial comments about avoiding the attack of an enemy -- which is the fundamental principle of
akido
(Japanese, not Chinese, by the way) -- apparently the aim of the exercise is to
learn
how to avoid them. There are no instructions, just Master Cheng attacking his "pupil" with fire bombs. Clearly, the only way to learn anything in this exercise, aside from whether it is glitched, is by trial-and-error.
Unlike quests, if there is a goal to this exercise, there is nothing to signify whether the player has made any progress toward it. Apparently, Master Cheng will discontinue the "lesson" when Master Cheng is satisfied that the PC (player) has learned it.
Zen Pilgrimage is only for Monks. The abilities, spells, etc. that the Monk PC can use are those for their current specialization, and are affected by stance. So there are differences in the possibilities, whether any might be significant as to what the PC can do to "avoid" Master Cheng's relentless attack. Zen Pilgrimage is first available at Level 20 before glyphs are available, although it continues at higher levels when a glyph(s) might affect this exercise.
However, at Level 15 the PC can use one talent out of three:
Celerity
,
Tiger's Lust
, and
Momentum
. Which of the three is the most beneficial for this exercise depends first upon whether
moving
the PC to leave or to avoid the pool of fire is actually a feasible way to eventually satisfy Master Cheng. Moving the PC might not be the best way, or the only way, to do that.
That said, there does not seem to be a way to prevent Master Cheng from using his fire bomb that does him no harm even while he stands in the center of the pool of fire. My PC does not have any ability that can be used to
avoid
harm from it, as far as I have been able to determine,
i.e.,
other than to leave the pool of fire -- regardless of whether there is one -- as quickly as possible. My PC has almost no opportunity to attack Master Cheng, aside from he fact that the damage is nominal when he does so, as Cheng follows my PC to the point where he will unleash another fire bomb.
Rolling through the fire does not prevent it from damaging my PC while he rolls. Roll does not always end with my PC completely outside the pool of fire, unless it is executed twice. Roll has a cooldown, so even with
Celerity
it is not available each and every time that Cheng unleashes his fire bomb.
It has occurred to me that maybe the way to avoid the fire would be to simply move to stand where Master Cheng is standing. That would be the answer typical of a true Zen puzzle (
e.g.,
What is the sound of one hand clapping?) In WoW, two or more PCs can indeed occupy the same space at the same time, although it seems that their respective center-points cannot be the same pixel.
However, I suspect that only Master Cheng is exempt from the damage of his fire bomb since he walks through the pool of fire in pursuit of his pupil without suffering any harm. If Roll is not the answer, then maybe Walking instead of Running will be a "gimmick" that works.
Any suggestions?
