Patch 4.1 - Delicia Fay and Armor Dyes Coming Soon to Azeroth
The upcoming Patch 4.1: Rise of the Zandalari just got
a lot
more exciting.
A new patch hit the PTR early this morning and with it comes some news that most of us World of Warcraft players have been waiting to hear for years. Yes, you will be able to dye your armor in 4.1. In addition to a couple pieces of new 5-man gear, we've datamined several brand new items called
Concentrated Dyes
as well as an uncategorized spell called
灼烧之焰
. Additionally, after hopping on the PTR to check it out, we can confirm that this is a more potent dye that lets players tint their armor to preferred shades.
Blizzard's Tribute to Felicia Day's "The Guild"
Interestingly enough, the dyes are sold by a vendor named
洞穴钻地者
. A redheaded Blood Elf, Delicia can be found in Booty Bay in a previously abandoned hut that's surrounded by textiles and articles of clothing. In the surrounding area, there are two other new NPCs called
Maze Tester
and
强大的魔暴龙
. It seems that Blizzard's added these two to help reaffirm the initial tribute--Delicia Fay being a somewhat obvious play on celebrity
Felicia Day's
name--as both are characters on her

Goodbye "Wowhead," Hello "Rifthead"
Unbeknownst to the general public, there have been some talks about changing our site's name in the past months. Frankly, as a name brand, "Wowhead" isn't as memorable as we'd like—the word doesn't convey solid imagery and it isn't very marketable. For a while now we've been hunting through the thesaurus, trying to find a word that really got what both World of Warcraft and our unique fansite are really all about.
Recently, it hit us: conflict. WoW is a game that's rife with conflict and its resolution, a game enveloped in rifts and their closures.
This is an especially relevant observation now. Since the advent of Cataclysm, tensions have been rising. Factions and their leaders fight not only against each other but within themselves. Rifts are forming—political rifts amongst leaders and physical rifts as Deathwing tears our world apart. Rifts are everywhere in Azeroth.
Thus, officially as of today, we've rebranded our esteemed website to incorporate that very memorable and menacing word into our new site title. No longer are we Wowhead. Today we become "Rifthead"; a website where we strive to bring the community the latest upd

New Forum Feature: Credibility!
Our team is always working behind the scenes to make the website easier to use and more enjoyable. I am proud to announce our latest feature:
Post Credibility
, an indicator of how credible a forum post is! It will be shown next to each forum post; it consists of a rating in numeric form (usually between 1 and 9, but some exceptional cases do exist) and one of 3 possible color coded levels is also displayed. They say a picture is worth a thousand words:
The credibility of the post is entirely calculated by an automated algorithm without human intervention and will thus be available immediately after posting. Our tests have shown that it's remarkably accurate.
We plan to add new
website achievements
for exceptionally credible posts and we will be looking at other ways to integrate this amazing new feature.
As always your feedback is very appreciated!

News Roundup: More Complaints About the 60-80 Leveling Flow...
There have been some odds and ends this week and past that have deserved a news round-up, from a few hotfixes to some explanations of minor class changes that are slated to hit in patch 4.1. General news seems really slow lately, most likely because Blizzard has been busy ramping up for the Rise of the Zandalari release as well as preparing for the patch beyond that and its new raids.
Latest topics include:
Post-60 Leveling Flow
UA Dispel Penalty
Clarification Requested on WoG Nerf

Patch 4.1 - PTR Build 13812 - New Icons, Items, and Spell Changes
A new PTR patch has just been released! Mostly it's a lot of tooltip changes as to be expected with any patch, however, there are some notable changes for several classes. The biggest changes are for the
德鲁伊
class. It looks like bears are finally getting some much needed love--this is fitting with
the earlier blue posts
this week about improving Druid AoE tanking.
There are also new items and other stuff which we will be getting up shortly in a separate post.

Slaughter Trolls With Blizzard and a New Ghostcrawler Blog on Interrupts
The developers have been talking to the community a lot lately. Today they're even playing with us:

If that wasn't enough, we also have another Ghostcrawler post. He's been making frequent blogs lately and they've all been worth reading--this one's no different. Talking about interrupts this time, he examines the problems with interrupts and their subsequent fixes that led to an unforeseen consequence of caster mobility and a degradation in the use of cast time spells. This has been a complaint for some time now, in both the PvE and PvP circles. It manifests by burst damage in PvP and class preference for PvE. Progression guilds have gotten many headaches over the eternal war between casters and melee, fights preferring stacked groups of either and rarely catering to both. But a

Blizzard's Third Q+A Answered, Armor and Weapons Selected for Next Topic
Blizzard just posted their next set of answers to the
their third global Q+A session they held through the forums
recently. Surprisingly, the traditionally dry and technical topic of user interfaces provided the community with what we believe are the best set of questions and answers thus far; they make for the most riveting read, at least! From big to small, questions this time around address real issues that we've been wondering--like how come the default backpack hasn't gotten an upgrade in the past six years or why isn't World of Warcraft's default UI easily rearranged like in other games?
There will be more of these sessions coming up in the near future as well. The topic of
Armor and Weapons
is slated to be tackled next; starting at 4PM PDT today, Blizzard will field questions from NA players. We'll have another post when those go live.
Some of the topics of the questions they were asked include:

Patch 4.1 - Rise of the Zandalari Official Preview
Blizzard hit us today with the official content preview for Patch 4.1: Rise of the Zandalari. It's a well-written summary of the threats adventurers will be facing soon and explains what role Vol'jin will be playing and the numerous threats that Stranglethorn contains. It also shows us some of the new vanity drops we'll be seeing.
In years past, the Zandalar tribe, encompassing the wise and scholarly progenitors of the trolls, heroically assisted the Horde and the Alliance with thwarting the nefarious activities of their brethren in Zul'Gurub and Zul'Drak. Yet the chaos unleashed by the recent Cataclysm has reshaped the Zandalari's philosophy about the world and the dwindling remnants of their race. Led by a mysterious prophet known only as Zul, the Zandalari have issued a call to Azeroth's embattled troll populations: unite into a single mighty empire and save their race from extinction.
Thus far, the Gurubashi and Amani trolls have answered the summons and received aid from the Zandalari, allowing them to rebuild their respective capitals in Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman. Not all trolls, however, have so eagerly adopted the Zandala

Guild Transfer Option Coming Soon
Transferring servers as a guild has always been needlessly hard. Your guild bank usually has too much gold to bring over and your guild ranks are disrupted when reformed--and with the guild reputation system that's now in place, it's become an even bigger nightmare. It seems that Blizzard finally intends to do something about this, as today they've announced that there is going to be a guild relocation and renaming feature coming sometime in the future to World of Warcraft.
If nothing else, this should provide some more incentive to take use of free server transfers that are offered time to time. And hey, who hasn't dreamed of renaming their guild before?
We want to give everyone an early heads-up regarding our plan to implement a guild relocation service for World of Warcraft. The idea is for a guild leader to be able to transfer a guild to another realm. The guild structure remains intact, including the guild leader, guild bank, ranks, and guild name (depending on availability).
Guild members who decide to relocate with their guild may initiate their own paid character transfer. Upon a successful transfer they will automatically be par

New Ghostcrawler Blog: Raid Progress
In his latest developer blog, Ghostcrawler talks about progression raiding. Aptly timed after some hotfixes to Cataclysm encounters last night, he addresses what Blizzard feels is the right and wrong way to strike balance in the heart of their raiding players. His major argument is that content is always being nerfed--whether through the raiders themselves acquiring better gear or Blizzard developers retuning encounters after their release. Moreover, he feels that everything is going as expected as this level of content starts to wrap up, citing pick-up groups on servers and guilds attempting encounters as positive signs that the first set of Cataclysm raids were a success.
Check out his thoughts on the state of raiding, progression, and the balancing act that ultimately comes into play with each set of new PvE content after the break.

PTR Shows New Daily Dungeon System + New Wowhead Feature: Event Calendar
There are a lot of in-game events nowadays. There are Call to Arms for battlegrounds some of us still haven't set foot in, the Darkmoon Faire is always coming and going, and then there are things like actual holidays and fishing tournaments. Keeping track of them can be confusing--or at least it
was
confusing. That all changes today as we've now added
an event calendar
to Wowhead that will show you what's going on in Azeroth right from the comfort of your own browser.
http://www.wowhead.com/events#calendar
Since it was an otherwise slow day, we also hopped on the PTR to confirm whether or not the daily dungeon had been changed--and it has! Players will now be able to do seven dungeons a week instead of one dungeon per day. Cue sighs of relief from everyone, I'm sure. I'd personally rather do seven dungeons in a row with a group of guildmates over the weekend than squeeze one in every day.

Site Updates: Anvil and Forge Tracking, Polls for Premium
Sometimes things are hard to find in World of Warcraft. It's a common fact that things like the location of certain
anvils
and
forges
have been the bane of WoW players existence for years. It was easy when Dalaran was our home, but Cataclysm just had to go and change that. Now they're scattered to the wind and if you're outside your faction's main capital city, all bets are off to where you might get your crafting done.
Luckily, the Wowhead staff implemented a quick update today that lets you find them in two different ways. Firstly, Wowhead now lists anvils and forges by their zone location when
you look them up
. Once you click on the anvil or forge and then the zone, a map will pop up with its location. Of course, we understand that looking up an object can be too much work. This is why you can also go to a zone instead and use the 'Show on Map' button to immediately have any existing anvil or forge be revealed on the zone map on its page. That's right, you don't even have to leave the page--try checking it out in either

Cataclysm Leveling Flow Guide: 1-60
Cataclysm tore the world asunder and redefined Azeroth--Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor will never be the same. However, as exciting as it's been to watch this all unfold, it also means that it's harder than it was before to get back into the groove of things if you have taken a break. Even starting a new alt can be a mystifying journey since all the zones have been returned and the landscape changed. Darkshore was hit with tragedy, the Barrens is split in two, and tensions have never been higher in Silverpine Forest. There’s too much to take in and it's hard to know where to start sometimes.
But don't worry--that's what we're here for, right? In addition to having
a lengthy guide to the Cataclysm changes
in our Cataclysm section of Wowhead, this post will get you up to speed on the general leveling progression of World of Warcraft for levels 1-60.
Find out where to go, what zones you shouldn't pass up, and more after the break! We've even included some fun items to hunt for to give you reasons to check out certain zones over others!
