The Harvest Festival is here! (Sept 16 - Sept 22)
Yep, the
Harvest Festival
is here! Nothing new this year, but I've taken the liberty of reposting last year's guide on a new guide page for anyone who may not have participated. It's a pretty cool little event, lore-wise, but there's nothing remarkably amazing - they're basically just asking you guys to take a few minutes out of your day to show your respects to your faction's fallen hero. It would be really cool if Blizzard ever decided to elaborate on this event some, maybe by spotlighting other famous heroes (not just Grom and Uther) - maybe even tie it in with Archaeology somehow - yeah, yeah? Ah, wishful thinking... maybe next year.

Midsummer Fire Festival Guide! (June 21 - July 5)
The
Midsummer Fire Festival
is fast approaching, which means it's time once again for one of
Miyari
's guides!
The Festival starts in the night between Sunday and Monday this weekend, so you know where to go for all of your daily quest and achievement needs! We have all the quests, achievements, and bonfire locations laid out in our guide.

Impressions from Zalazane's Fall
After visiting Dun Morogh to see Operation: Gnomeregan in action (see my recently whipped-up blog,

As a quick recap, the
Gnomes
are plotting to reclaim
, their irradiated city lost to

Trolls

. The mysterious Twilight's Hammer Cult will also take advantage of the situation to agitate for their teachings, bewildering common citizens.

Impressions from Operation: Gnomeregan
The Cataclysm pre-launch events are currently being tested on the PTR, so I decided to go ahead and look around. If you haven't been keeping up with all the details though, I recommend checking out the
Pre-Launch Events
on our
Cataclysm
guide.
To recap, the
Gnomes
are preparing for a mission to reclaim
, their home city once lost to

, while the
Trolls
are about to launch their own conquest to retake the Echo Isles, taken from them by
扎拉赞恩
. On top of that, the Twilight's Hammer Cult will be meddling with all these affairs, too!

Operation: Gnomeregan and Zalazane's Fall on the PTRs
For those of you who wish to get a sneak preview of the upcoming
reclamation of Gnomeregan
, and the
retaking of the Echo Isles
for the Horde—now is your chance!
Nethaera has
announced on the forums
that these events are now open to PTR players. Go and create a PTR character if you want to give them a try yourself!

Dalaran Children's Week Quests Issues
As you may already have noticed, if you have completed the Dalaran
Children's Week
quests that were released last year,
you currently cannot complete them again this year.
An update posted by Bornakk and further clarified by Bashiok states that at this time there is no plan to fix this issue with the quest in time for this Children's Week, and everyone who completed the quest last year will have to wait until the event rolls around again.
This is rather upsetting, I was hoping to complete the Dalaran collection by getting my

We are aware of the issue that is currently affecting the Children’s Week quest line in Dalaran which does not allow players who have completed the quest line last year to take part in it again this year. We do not currently have a fix planned to address this issue at this point in time.

Echo Isles and Gnomeregan Official News!
For those of you who haven't been following the spoilers, The pre-Cataclysm world event is coming up soon—and from the looks of it, it will be revolving primarily around the efforts of the Alliance to retake Gnomeregan, and the Horde to retake the Echo Isles!
Blizzard has just released a sneak preview of both events on the official site, with some awesome screenshots and a little background for those who don't know the history:
High Tinker Mekkatorque, betrayed by Mekgineer Thermaplugg and forced to flee the irradiated city of Gnomeregan with the few of his fellow gnomes who managed to survive, is preparing to reclaim his once glorious city. Meanwhile, in distant Durotar, Vol'jin of the Darkspear trolls is determined to exact revenge upon the witch doctor Zalazane for dividing the Darkspears and seizing the land bestowed to them by Thrall: the Echo Isles. Lunar Festival Guide! (Feb 14 - Mar 7)
You know we couldn't let another holiday go by without one of Miyari's excellent

From the looks of it, this world event is going to be much closer to what we saw last year (unlike the
Love Is In the Air
event), so previous experience should apply. We've also pulled out all the stops to make a fully featured table with links to the locations of all the
Elders
, complete with lightboxed maps for each individual location, and overall maps for the whole continents. :)

Day of the Dead 2009 (Nov 1 - Nov 2) - Quest Guide + Information!
Fresh on the heels of the
Hallow's End
event begins the
Day of the Dead
(or
Dia de los Muertos
) event in World of Warcraft.
This event is a memorial holiday in which we celebrate the honor and memory of those who have passed on. They make a spiritual return to our lands, which we prepare with food and festivities, for only two days:

minor
in-game event, similar to
Pirate's Day
or the
Harvest Festival
, but it's pretty interesting regardless!

New Holiday: Day of the Dead
Coming soon is the short 2-day holiday known as Day of the Dead which takes place this Sunday and Monday. The Holiday is based around the real world
Day of the Dead
where family members get together and remember those who have passed on.
There are a few rewards for this event, including a Macabre Marionette, which is a small pet that looks like a skeleton wearing a sombrero and holding a pair of maracas. This pet can only be used during the Day of the Dead event and cannot be learned or kept. One achievement is also available:

PTR Build 10596 Achievement Changes
Hello folks!
We here at Wowhead have been following the PTR buzz and working hard to give you guys the scoop on any new changes and additions that have been made. This latest PTR build (10596) includes changes to several achievements, including some for the
Love is in the Air
event. Also, in addition to exciting new 'Looking for Dungeon' achievements, several challenges for the upcoming Icecrown Citadel have been added in recent builds.

Hallow's End Achievements Bug
Just picked this up from the official forums. Watch out, all you achievement mavens!
We are currently experiencing an issue with the Hallow's End candy buckets that is affecting the Trick or Treat Achievements for this event. Certain candy buckets in Northrend, once looted, are preventing characters from looting some of the Candy Buckets required for the Trick or Treats of Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Outlands. The current way to work around this is to get the candy buckets from Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, and Outland before doing any in Northrend.
Note, doing the Achievements first will prevent some of the Northrend Candy Buckets from being intractable.
We are actively working on a resolution for this and will provide more information when it is available.
