Shield of the Righteous vs Word of Glory
Some information about my Shield of the Righteous VS Word of Glory statement:
- Armor without SOTR against dungeon boss: 40.50%
- Armor with SOTR against dungeon boss: 58.22%
- This is making my 正义盾击 give me about 30% damage reduction against physical sources for 4.5 seconds.
- My 荣耀圣令 heals me around 15k without any additional benefits at 30% remaining HP.
- We subtract 20% of that value since SOTR gives 1/5 of a Word of Glory (thanks to Shining Light)
That means I use 3 holy power to heal myself for 12k, or I can choose to get a 30% dmg reduction for 4.5 seconds. For the DMG reduction to have same value as the heal, I would have to take about 40k physical DMG (before SOTR) over those 4.5 seconds, which is really unlikely. Higher difficulty Raids will probably reach those numbers, but for now Word of Glory is superior by far.
This is not even counting in
盾卫圣令 (Conduit), Critical Heals, Heal received weapon enchant and other healing buffs. All which will make Word of Glory even stronger compared to SOTR.
Character Setup
I am currently in a Mastery / Versa build, to benefit my survival outside of SOTR. The Defensive conduit I am using is
辉金之道, since I didn't receive a
盾卫圣令 (Word of Glory absorb) until yesterday.
Took a while to decide between
法官的审判 and
无尽列王之御, but decided to go with Magistrate since the Holy Power gain is really great...
Tactics for the Bosses
The Affront to Challengers
Took a while to figure out the strategy, since I kept being stunlocked by Xira. She is a rogue that stuns you every now and then. Thankfully you are able to find her before she reaches you and hit her with an ability to make her "reset". This makes the encounter really interesting since you will have to focus on survival and keeping your eyes out for her... You can cheese this with a specific target macro.
Xav the Unfallen
This boss is quite easy as a Protection Paladin, I didn't even have to bother with the tactics since our Word of Glory heals for such a massive amount, we are able to facetank all the avoidable damage! Usually you should be destroying the banner since they slow your movement, then afterwards avoid the different combo abilities the boss uses.
Gorechop
Quite an easy boss, I were surprised that the adds destroy themselves over time. Thanks to this, there won't be any soft enrage DPS requirements. You should make sure you avoid the Meat hooks, but even if you are caught you will most likely survive. Make sure you don't have too low HP when the boss does Hateful Strike!
Kul'tharok
This boss was the second hardest, reason is that we take a large amount of magic damage. We will also recieve every "Draw Soul" cast during the encounter, since we don't have any teammates present. This will make us get stunned for a few second and we also have to run after our soul. If we have to run out of melee range, the boss will start to spam Spectral Reach (hard hitting cast). Make sure you maximize your HP before the end of a Draw Soul cast!
Mordretha, the Endless Empress
Quite a fun boss with lots of things happening (at least last phase). She does summon adds every now and then, but since you are alone you will only have to fight one of them. The main thing to look out for is avoidable damage during the fight, and also prepare for her Reaping Scythe
