Did we warn N'Zoth of his own fate, and accidentally help him avoid it?

has exploded in popularity recently, as the reddit user points out how we may have recently helped N'Zoth plan a way to avoid his own death by our hands.
Visions of N'Zoth
N'Zoth is dead. At least, we think he's dead. Players faced and defeated the Old God back during Visions of N'Zoth,
Battle for Azeroth
's Patch 8.3. Supposedly, N'Zoth's defeat meant Azeroth is finally free of the Old Gods.
Magni Bronzebeard says: Since bein' wounded by the Mad Titan, Azeroth has been cryin' out in pain. In her hour o' need, she lent you her power.
Magni Bronzebeard says: Today, at long last, she's free from the grasp o' the Old Gods. Her song rings clear and strong throughout this chamber.
More recently, during Dragonflight's main storyline, players encountered N'Zoth again - but in the past. In a quest that involves chasing the Bronze Dragon Chromie through various timelines, players finally reach the Black Empire: a time long, long ago, when the Old Gods still ruled Azeroth. While there, players hear the whispers from the Old Gods. All of the whispers are just things we've heard before - all of them, that is, except for the whispers from N'Zoth, who has some new things to say.
Knowing Presence whispers: I... know you. What you were. What you will yet be.
Knowing Presence whispers: You will follow him to the deep places. The dark waters will flow in his wake.
Knowing Presence whispers: With many eyes, they will see again. They will drink, and be uplifted.
Knowing Presence whispers: Deeper, deeper its roots will reach. Welcoming our embrace.
Knowing Presence whispers: Her dreams sing beneath the surface. Our dreams. Our song.

When We Rescued Chromie, Did We Also Help N'Zoth?
According to the theory, by rescuing Chromie, we helped give N'Zoth a way to escape his fate.
When
we reported on this before
, we noted that N'Zoth's whispers always begin the same way: N'Zoth recognizes us. As the theory points out, this inadvertently tells N'Zoth everything we know about his future - including the manner of his death. And this gives him a way to plan for it.
What’s especially concerning about N’zoth is that we may have accidentally time looped ourselves into a nasty spot with him.
Ever wondered why he was so interested in you specifically? Why he constantly considered you the harbinger of his victory? Why he saw you as special?
Because even though you didn’t know it during BFA, you met before and gave him some very valuable information.
When you go back in time and witness the original Ny’alotha, the old gods seem to just whisper their usual ominous but meaningless stuff about betrayal death etc… but not N’zoth.
Instead N’zoth looks into your mind and realises exactly which timeline he is currently in, and instead starts talking to you, actually telling you things, because “I know you… what you were, what you are, what you will become…”
By visiting that time period, you inadvertently told N’zoth how he was going to be imprisoned, released, and eventually how he will die… and thus, allowed him to start looking into how to avoid that.
You’re special to him because as long as you’re alive, he circumvents the biggest weakness of the void: it sees all possibilities and considers them all valid, at the cost of not really knowing which one is the “truth” (because to the void, they all are) but with you around he knows EXACTLY which possibilities are now more likely to happen
By rescuing Chromie, we gave N’zoth a way out. Again.
Is N'Zoth Really Dead?
There is reason to more closely examine N'Zoth's defeat and supposed death, especially the involvement of the Blade of the Black Empire. Xal'atath is not only the name of the blade, but of the entity that was bound within. However, during the Crucible of Storms quest

, we learned that the entity made a bargain with N'Zoth to be freed - with N'Zoth insisting the blade remain to serve his will.
Xal'atath says: Honor our bargain... free me to find my own fate!
N'Zoth says: Go... but the blade must remain... to serve my will.
Xal'atath says: A fair exchange.
Afterwards, N'Zoth seems particularly pleased with the player's involvement, talking about dreaming of our destiny, and rewarding us with the

N'Zoth says: I have dreamed your destiny, mortal.
N'Zoth says: The hour is close at hand.
N'Zoth says: That which was sunken shall rise.
N'Zoth says: All that were sleeping... shall be awakened.
N'Zoth says: Receive my gift and see all truths before you.
However, N'Zoth does not claim the blade. Instead, it was taken to Sylvanas Windrunner, who gave it to Nathanos along with a secret mission to deliver it to Queen Azshara. Azshara finally gave it to Wrathion, claiming she intended to use it against N'Zoth, and telling him to drive it into the Old God's heart. All in all, a strange journey for a blade N'Zoth specifically bargained for.
Queen Azshara says: I would have driven this blade into his foul heart myself... had you not disrupted my plans.
Queen Azshara says: No matter. Xal'atath is yours, mortals. Strike true. Should your first blow fail, you will not survive to attempt another.
Later, during the N'Zoth boss fight, he reveals the bargain between Azshara and Sylvanas that led to Xal'atath being delivered to Azshara.
N'Zoth the Corruptor yells: Behold my betrayal... and yours.
Queen Azshara yells: We have a bargain, then. I will bring both fleets crashing to the ocean floor, and our champion will deliver the dagger to me.
Sylvanas Windrunner yells: And in turn, you will have the key required to free the Old God from his bonds... and leave him vulnerable.
Queen Azshara yells: You wound me, Warchief. After all, I am as dedicated to my master as you are to your subjects.
Sylvanas Windrunner yells: Indeed. Just be certain that once you have what you need, you dispose of your guests. Let none of the "heroes" escape.
Queen Azshara yells: I admire your ruthlessness, Windrunner. It seems our interests are aligned... at present.
Queen Azshara yells: Treacherous Banshee! Do you think I am blind to the darkness you seek to unleash?
So N'Zoth claimed the Black Blade of the Empire would be used to serve his will. And yet, its direct route after that was to play its role in Sylvanas and Azshara's bargain. Either N'Zoth had an entirely different plan for the blade that only failed because he made absolutely no effort to acquire it or do anything about it when Sylvanas got hold of it and was simply blindsided by Azshara's betrayal, or the bargain itself was always part of N'Zoth's plan.
One thing that's always bothered me personally is that Wrathion never did stab N'Zoth in the heart - he stabbed the Old God in the Carapace... which is definitely slightly different.
Of course, we still defeated N'Zoth, and the Old God did seem to die quite spectacularly. Afterwards, Magni Bronzebeard declared that Azeroth had been freed from the grasp of the Old Gods - and he talks to Azeroth directly, so he should know.
The king of diamonds has been made a pawn.
As for the Black Blade of the Empire, it disappeared.
