Legendary
items are a staple of World of Warcraft expansions. In
Shadowlands
Legendary Items are being reimagined. Instead of working to acquire a Legendary gear piece, you will work to acquire materials that will allow you to craft and add a
Legendary Power
to an existing gear piece. Every class has four general Legendary Powers and four spec-specific Legendary Powers. Many of these Legendary Powers are inspired by past Set Bonuses, Artifact Powers, and Legion Legendary effects.
As a
Mage
, you will have specific Legendary Powers designed especially for your class. In this guide we will outline all Shadowlands Mage Legendary Powers and what item slots they can be applied to.

Best Legendary Powers for Mages in Shadowlands
Shadowlands Legendary powers grant impactful gameplay effects for your character through the new Runecarving system. As your crafted Shadowlands legendary will be the most important piece of gear in the expansion, providing large performance benefits, it is crucial to pick the right legendary to craft and effectively spend your Soul Ash.
Our class writers have recommended the best legendary powers and item slots for Shadowlands content, as well as highlighting which legendaries are not worth crafting. Keep in mind that Shadowlands is still undergoing tuning and that these may change without notice. Also keep in mind that "Best" can be both pretty subjective and, in many cases, a very close call. Looks reeeally fun.
Im concerned that frost is going to be too strong in mythic+ now with that frozen orb and ice lance + blizzard constant aoe damage.
Compared to fire or arcane who are only strong once every 2-3 minutes.
Balancing balancing balancing!
The good Groups wont invite me if frost is much stronger. But other than that i could not be more excited

Ok as main arcane i see where they are going with this but NO pls change it.
1st change on Arcane Barrage mana return is extremely nice (finally) and props and thank you for that.
Now before going through all legos let me get you up with
strength of Arcane
and we can sum it up with what i call 10 sec window! (arcane power+Rune of power+haste or inte buff on use trinket) and in that 10 sec u have to cast Arcane Blast as much as possible (or if we return to legion than 3 x Arcane Missiles + Arcane Blast (WoD was story for itself)) as only than Arcane is capable of doing damage and will most of the times tower everyone else, the rest of time is maintaining your mana pool. (trust me as plain as it sounds most people are still not able to do it properly mostly cause of bad positioning and choosing when to time it) <- with this in mind
Arcane Bombardment - it has use by all means in questing and PvP and to a small degree M+ but trying to repair Arcanes bad point by giving arcane charge dumper execute ability is not going to do much. Rather buff or give charges to Arcane missiles than this.
Arcane Harmony - cute but same point as above without charges it aint so good as it was in legion
Siphon Storm - I can see where you are going -> soo after 10 sec window get rid of excessive mana use evocation use 2nd rune of power which will buff dps and burst window for another cca 25 ish sec (spending mana 6-7+evocation 6 +rune of power 10 + cast time 2-3 and dont by mistake use in meantime your arcane barrage or you'll screw up rotation) and than in the rest use arcane barrage to repair your now damaged mana pool and repeat after arcane power is back.
Ok see it as ok pulling it of is okish for people who know but this is still strengthening Arcane weakness not buffing its strength.
Temporal Warp - Sounds nice as it sounded nice in Legion only usabale if u have full team of Arcane mages who have same rotation. 1st in raid u cant cast Time Warp when u want but when team decides so until than its useless lego. 2nd if u were the one casting TW at start of fight than u have now its cd of 5 mins soo u need to have another mage/shaman that will cast it for you when u tell him (gl with that) ohh forgot to mention but Arcane Power is 1min 30sec cd so yeah 1 more want be enough to use this to its fullest potential (drums might work but that dosent repair the problem)
Repairing Arcane problematic side via this wont do any good, for that arcane needs a rehaul on talents and some abilities to guide it there. Current job of Arcane mage is big %^&* DPS in 10 sec window to burst bosses down and people who know how to play it can do it without problem. If u want to do something with legos than buff this side not the cd window.
edit: Read the new changes to Arcane and well lads and lasses we have new elemental shaman (and i dont mean the improved one but the one from legion/BFA) cause it is trash if they go with it. At least now the leggos do have somewhat of sense to why pick those effects and why Arcane Barrage got mana return.
Summary: They added Equipoise as talent +, added new somewhat interesting talent (Focus Magic) +ish, Clearcasting (Arcane missiles boost) got charges on rank 3 if i read that correctly (2 charges now) +ish, but they also changed CD on Arcane Power from 1.5 min to 3 min without boosting the bonuses (Overpower or its base) but added 5 sec longer duration which if u read strength of Arcane now know it WAS bread and butter of spec. While yes they added effect on mastery (everything that it was + now boosts arcane damage) it will still destroyed the burst and high dps that it was known for. Ohh and mana cost is also same <- so this is the reason why it got mana return as u want be able to maintain the mana pool and Equipoise for 3 mins otherwise.

My favorite mage legendary was always the
Mantle of the First Kirin Tor

I felt like it added something really unique and fun to the arcane mage, and I am crossing my fingers that it comes back in Shadowlands.
It's a great legendary because it really makes Arcane Barrage a fun spell to click and gives us better longivity in where I see arcane mages struggle at the moment, which is with prolonged AoE fights. While we still Barrage often, it just makes that so much more interesting and with the potential of multiple procs on top of each other, this was just such a fun legendary that I miss dearly. Toggle that into being practically forced to spec into Overpowered during the entirety of BFA, this would bring back Arcane Orbs without making great sacrifices to our burn window, which is what Arcane has felt pigeon holed into for so long.

Hey why didnt blizzard give arcane mage the legendary Gravity Spiral? Why blizz? Please make this a legendary for shadowlands. Get rid of Siphoning Storm and do Gravity Spiral Please!

Why do blizz love frost so much? I main a mage and its the only spec i dislike. Fire is cool, arcane is interesting, frost is boring, dont force me into frost by making it the best spec in every scenario!

This information is incorrect. There are only three Arcane specific powers.
Temporal Warp can be used by all mage specs.
