What is Corruption?
Corruption is a new system of power progression which replaces Titanforging; instead of item level bonuses, they will now have a chance to be Corrupted by the Old Gods, represented by the purple-colored stat which adds both a positive effect and stacking negative attribute which incurs penalties at various thresholds. Although the negative effects can reach a point at which they become debilitating, carefully managing the bonuses and penalties allows for a great deal of customization and individual power gain.
Corrupted gear can be freely cleansed by MOTHER in order to remove both effects and revert them back into normal items. Corruption can also be added on non-corrupted items, by purchasing
Preserved Contaminants with MOTHER
. Corruption resistance can also be gained over time, both from new minor essences, and the legendary cloak
, allowing more corrupted effects to be worn. For more information on all potential Corruptions, see our
Corruption Overview Guide
.
Buying Corruptions with Echoes of Ny'alotha as a Fury Warrior
Corruptions now can be
purchased from MOTHER
using
. Every few days, a new set of Corruptions will be accessible. Corruption rank matters less than total budget, though statistical corruptions have a low enough budget that they'll need to be rank 3 in the majority of slots.
for general use in all situations, although it's possible to stack crit so high that
may begin to overtake.
still a great choice for multitarget/Mythic+. Because this is also found on
, it's rarely a high priority purchase.
still the best single target damage corruption, although keep in mind the way it loses value when multiple targets are present.
Best Fury Warrior Corruption Bonuses
We have comparative simulations for each of the various Corruption affixes which can roll on gear, courtesy of SimulationCraft and Bloodmallet. While this overview should give you a good general idea of how each compare to one another, your specific character may see slightly different results based on how you are geared and what Corruptions are available to you; you can create your own comparisons as well as combinations of different essences you have unlocked on your character using
Raidbots
Top Gear function. If you are not already familiar with Raidbots and how to use it, take a look at our
How To Guide
. When looking at corruption effects it is important not to look at the overall power of a given effect, but at how much power per corruption is gained while staying below your safe threshold. By using Top Gear, you can play with the Max Corruption bar, allowing you to maximize your damage based on your Corruption risk choices.
This is simply an overview and doesn't take into account the negative effects of stacking Corruption. While increasing Corruption will continually increase player power, it comes at the cost of serious side effects, which may be debilitating in some activities or encounters. Reference the Corruption Effect notes and recommendations below to see how your spec can best take advantage of these bonuses and deal with the detriments.
Please also note that when using more than one of the same corruption, even different tiers of the same corruption, the effect/benefit (damage, statistical gains, etc) stack while durations and proc rates remain unchanged. The only exception is
, unique to the Ny'alotha raid weapon
, which will proc independently when dual wielded.

Best Effects
- Performs very well on pure Single Target, where it can stack up, though that's not actually a very common scenario in Ny'alotha. Practically speaking, it
will
lose value on many encounters.
- Fury's best stat in all situations, important for facilitating the azerite trait Cold Steel Hot Blood.
- A very low budget Corruption, with a strong damage to corruption ratio. Post nerf it is roughly on par with Severe.
Good Effects
- Synergizes well with Crit Chance stacking.
- Weak in pure single target, but does full damage to additional targets and functions well during frequent target switching.
- Even post nerf, it competes fairly well, but shouldn't be prioritized.
- Weaker than crit unless you're very low on Haste, though there are other ways to handicap that (Furious Slash/Iris).
Bad Effects
- Not very useful, as few Fury abilities have cooldowns in general.
- Fixed to work for melee abilities, but doesn't do a whole lot as Fury isn't heavily cooldown driven.

Best Effects
- Deals full damage to each target hit, though has a low proc rate and random hit box which isn't always reliable.
- Fury's best stat in all situations, important for facilitating the azerite trait Cold Steel Hot Blood.
- Still strong even post nerf, though with much less potential. A decent option for frequently switching between Single & Multitarget, but no longer egregious.
Good Effects
- Synergizes well with Crit Chance stacking.
/
- Weaker than crit, but gains some value in multitarget situations.
Bad Effects
- Still very strong if it happens to continually proc and stack on the same target, but the likelihood and effectiveness drops with each additional target.
- Not very useful, as Fury abilities have short cooldowns to begin with.
- Fixed to work for melee abilities, but doesn't do a whole lot as Fury isn't heavily cooldown driven; could in some situations reduce CDs enough to sync with waves of adds in niche situations.
Best Fury Warrior Ny'alotha Weapons
Besides random corruption effects, weapons from the new Ny'alotha raid also have exclusive effects on them, which can be quite powerful. Similar to random corruption effects, if you obtain a weapon with a subpar effect, you can always cleanse it. As a Fury Warrior, you can obtain weapons with the following effects:
always comes with Tier 3
, which can be strong in AoE but doesn't have the best damage to corruption value in single target. Because the weapon drops from N'Zoth, it is 10 item levels higher than other raid gear of the same difficulty, making it the best main hand weapon in the game, though you will most likely want to cleanse it if you have better corruptions elsewhere.
always comes with
, which post buff is roughly equal with Twilight's Devastation in terms of damage per corruption. Useful for Mythic+, or if you don't have any other competitive corruptions, but not as useful for Warriors as Blood Death Knights.
Dealing with Negative Effects of Corruption
In addition to the bonuses, corrupted items also increase the Corrupted stat by varying amounts based on the tier of the effect. Corruption stat incurs penalties that the player must deal with, and while these effects start out rather benign, they quickly ramp up in both potency and impact, to the point where it can be very hard to deal with during a Dungeon or Raid encounter, and even become outright debilitating at the highest levels.
There are five effects unlocked at different total corruption levels:
- Unlocked with 1 Corruption
- Unlocked with 20 Corruption
- Unlocked with 40 Corruption
- Unlocked with 60 Corruption
- Unlocked with 80 Corruption

At Rank 6, the legendary Cloak
gains an on-use effect which will remove and immune all currently active negative corruption effects.
- While Warriors have no innate way of removing the debuff from themselves, the debuff does not restrict the use of Charge or Heroic Leap, making it fairly easy to play around in most cases.
- Warriors can use Charge and Heroic Leap to avoid these void zones, though the most important part is making sure to position yourself in such a way that placing the zone does not force you out of melee range of your target. A 'left foot/right foot' strategy of standing on one side of a boss and switching sides when the void zone drops will help mitigate the area of denial, and the legendary cloak dispel can be used in cases where strategy restricts you from moving.
- The Thing from Beyond can be stunned, running out it's 8 second timer, so picking
can be a very valuable tool in handling the creature. It can also be feared with
.
- Highly recommended to have
or
ready in order to get out of the effect, though you should be wary of letting your corruption get this high in the first place.
How Much Corruption Should a Fury Warrior Take?
How much corruption you can handle really depends on how prepared you are, as well as the difficulty of content. Generally speaking:
Stay below 40 Corruption for Difficult/Progression content (Progression raids, high Mythic+ keys).
Stay below 60 Corruption for Easier/Farm content (farm raids, low Mythic+ keys).
Stay below 80 Corruption for trivial content (questing, etc). Only go above with dedicated and prepared healers.
You also want to be aware of encounter mechanics and how free you are to move around when dealing with higher amounts of corruption, particularly when the Thing from Beyond is involved at 40+ Corruption. While using Intimidating Shout or Storm Bolt to stop it is possible, it's not always reliable as it can spawn more often than those cooldowns can be used. Keep in mind that it also becomes faster as corruption increases, along with the severity of all other corruption effects, so just because you
can
fear or stun the Thing from Beyond doesn't necessarily mean you'll always have time to react to it.

Hi! Could you please tell me if the Gushing Wound_1 (ST=132 (475)) is updated to the recent nerf of the spell in the chart? Thanks.
