Common Questions and Major Pitfalls
Always be casting
Perhaps the most simple and frequently made problem is simply not pressing your buttons enough, filling in your rotation, using your cooldowns, and maximizing time spent hitting the target during a boss encounter. This is particular to Fury, as a GCD-locked spec, there should never be a time where you're not using an ability to deal damage and either generate or spend rage, unless you're out of range or otherwise physically unable to hit the target. Even shielded targets which go immune can be continue to be hit with basic attacks in order to pool rage in anticipation of the next part of the encounter.
Holding Cooldowns
As a counterpoint to the above, there are times when you want to
purposefully
hold your cooldowns. This seems contradictory, but delaying cooldowns slightly in order to capitalize on a wave of multiple targets, a boss vulnerability phase, or simply lining up multiple cooldowns up with one another can be worth the wait. Generally, holding for a high number of multi-targets is always worthwhile, as are any 100%+ increased damage phases.
This is also an important consideration when comparing Dragon Roar's shorter cooldown to Bladestorm's longer one, although with the Shadowlands changes, Bladestorm is now strictly superior to Dragon Roar when hitting multiple targets.
Delaying Rampage to Pool Rage
The rotation tells you to use Rampage if you're not Enraged, or if you have >90 rage. The reason for this is to game Enrage uptime - because Enrage lasts 4 seconds and only refreshes itself, rather than adding to the existing rotation, it's better to delay using Rampage for a GCD in order to generate some more rage and let the current Enrage run (nearly) out, before refreshing it with a new one.
The only caveat is ensuring you don't rage cap since wasted rage leads to less Rampage casts over the course of an encounter, which is why you won't want to do this when rage generation is doubled during Recklessness.
Keep Bloodthirst and Raging Blow on Cooldown
The reason the rotation tells you to prioritize casting Raging Blow when you have 2 charges, then Bloodthirst, and then the final charge is in order to game their cooldowns. Because two charges of the same ability cool down sequentially rather than simultaneously, getting the first charge of Raging Blow on cooldown and then using Bloodthirst before the second charge has two important effects: First, it puts Bloodthirst on cooldown, so that it becomes available again sooner, a net damage and rage gain over the course of an encounter; second is allowing the first charge of Raging Blow to get through more of its cooldown, thereby allowing you to use more Raging Blows over the course of an encounter.
Log Analysis
We recommend inputting a log report into
WoW Analyzer
to view areas that you could improve on. It will show you details such as your proc and cooldown usage, broken down by class and spec; for example: non-Enraged Dragon Roars, Bloodthirst or Recklessness not kept on cooldown, and downtime over the course of an encounter.

Great guide. This is a pretty specific question but it seems to come up for me in fights here and there : running Carnage, Bloodthirst triggers an Enrage, I've built up to 75 rage and can cast Rampage, and both Raging Blow and Bloodthirst are on cooldown : do I fill with Whirlwind to maximize Enrage uptime or just cast Rampage immediately? Thanks.

I don't know if I'm just not finding a section in this guide but I would like to read something about using two-handed versus one-handed weapons on a fury warrior.
