Recommended Gear for Mistweaver Monks in Dragonflight
What is the BiS Mistweaver Monk gear?
With many different sources of gearing and loot scarcity in Dragonflight, targeting your absolute Best in Slot gear isn't entirely realistic; instead, we've created a Best in Slot list from the ideal Mistweaver Monk drops found in Dragonflight from Mythic+ Dungeons and Awakened Raids to help you decide what to prioritize.
While raid drops are generally the most reliable way of getting high item level gear, many other items can be just as good, if not better, so you should reference the stat priorities listed on the
stats page
to help determine your own BiS gear based on what is available to you.
Archon
can be a helpful tool for seeing what alternative gear options exist if you can't get your hands on the best in slot.
Dragonflight
Season 4 is a bit of a "victory lap" season, where all of the raids and dungeons (barring
) released over the past couple of years are back! The three raids will take turns each week being "Awakened", scaling the bosses (and their rewards!) higher than they were before! Alongside the raids, all eight of the dungeons released at the launch of the expansion are in the same Mythic+ dungeon pool for the first time! This gives us one of the largest possible pools of items to choose from, but don't worry! So long as you follow the stat priority for Mistweavers,
Intellect > Haste to 30% > Critical Strike > Versatility > Haste past 30% > Mastery
and use tools available to us, like
QE Live
, gearing up and finding upgrades for your specific set of gear will be a cinch!
Overall Mistweaver Monk Best in Slot Gear
With all of that said, the below is an ideal list from all PvE sources from Season 4, across all eight launch dungeons and three raids, to give you an idea of which bosses to go after and which Mythic+ keys you'll want to keep an eye out for.

Awakened Raiding Best in Slot Gear for Mistweaver Monk
While it's not suggested to solely raid for your best gear, where you'd supplement weaker slots with gear from other sources that have better stats for you, there is a major benefit of the smaller loot pool in this type of content. Acquiring gear from raids allows you to gain specific, powerful items, but there's going to be heavy competition from them, especially as you can only acquire loot from each boss once per difficulty per week. Generally, you'll want to go for raw item level on your armor, using
QE LIve
to help you with tougher decisions.

Mythic+ Best in Slot Gear for Mistweaver Monk
The following list focuses only on pieces you can acquire from Mythic+ Dungeons. Granted while the highest available versions of these items are left at the whims of the Great Vault, the raw stats provided by naturally higher iLvL pieces might overtake a lower iLvL version of a piece below. As is the case for any intricate gearing question, please refer to
QELive
. Because of the jump in iLvL from the previous season, you may find yourself hitting the Haste breakpoint where it starts to have diminishing returns on gaining more of the stat. In that case, please change gear to follow a
Critical Strike > Versatility > Haste > Mastery
priority.

Best Mistweaver Monk Trinkets in Dragonflight Season 4
For Mistweavers, and healers in general, we're looking for dependable, consistent trinkets that we can use either frequently if they're ones we have to activate, or ones whose static effects grant us a powerful effect. Using two activated trinkets together has one incur a 30-second cooldown when the other is used, to prevent egregious pairings, but as healers, so long as we're able to space those out, we won't really run into that issue. Pairing our activated trinkets with our cooldowns to amplify their power is generally the safest bet for getting the most out of them.
The rankings below only include trinkets that are available from sources in
Dragonflight
Season 4, which gives us one of the largest selections of trinkets since
Shadowlands
' last season. As such, to help keep this list from stretching on too terribly long, any trinket that would be worse overall than our sole D-grade trinket is ommitted from this list. There might be some extreme edge-use cases where those trinkets have their place, but for general use, there are other options that are either much more flexible, or do their job much better than those stricken trinkets. As always, if you have any gearing questions that you're unsure of, please use
QE Live
to assist you with answering those questions.

This trinket only got stronger for us in Season 4. It's static Intellect has gone up, the bonus to healing it shares with our allies has gone up, and its effect of redistributing single target healing that goes into it into multi-target healing on injured targets makes it without peer, and the sole S-grade trinket for us. No matter what build you're in, this trinket becomes another group-wide cooldown in terms of the healing it does when properly utilized. Casting
on it for
to apply, then channeling
onto it and casting
before chain-casting
on the spawned Seedling generates a LOT of healing for us. In the Macro section of the guide, there's one specifically for you to use with this trinket for ease of use.

Even with recent tuning changes, this is still one of our best trinkets. Every time we invoke either of our Celestials, we gain a substantial increase to our Intellect, and the duration of this increase matches our
ramps perfectly. At the end of Season 2, the Intellect it gave was reduced by roughly half, but its duration was doubled, meaning that the healing of our followup
healing is now affected by this increase!

Forgotten Experiments

WIth this season making it super easy to reach 30% Haste just from our gear, setting this very flexible trinket to Critical Strike through
will give us the most theoretical healing, but if your group is coordinating this, Versatility gives comparable numbers, while Haste is underperforming those two by a hair. Don't swap to Mastery though, as you'll just be better off using a different trinket entirely. This trinket's strength really comes from this coordination. If you don't have the other secondary stats from your allies, this drops down to a B-grade trinket.
A
]
/
While this is easier for us to maintain the boosted version of this buff on our partnered ally, with us being melee healers, the benefits this provide don't hold up as well as they did all the way back in Season 1 of
Dragonflight
. This is still a great trinket, but others have power crept it down to here.
A
]
/
While this trinket was an instant lock in during its season, its moved more into a support role for this season. If you only care about your own throughput, this trinket is not for you anymore, as the functional parts of this for us are rather low. However, the Versatility this grants to your group isn't something to overlook, as it provides a not unsubstantial amount of throughput and damage reduction.

]
Primal Council
/
Much like ] above, this trinket can be a great stat stick for us, so long as you have other group members supplementing you with their stats. While the secondary stat it gives us is locked to Haste, the stats we gain from others is higher than the flat amount of stats from the higher-ranked trinket. Weaker than above options, but can give players who also run this trinket some much-needed stats.
A-
]
/
Very strong trinket that has a Critical Strike and Leech buff. Very solid trinket that stands on its own quite well, especially when three of the five above trinkets rely on others for their full potential to be met. Not much else to say about it though, it's
much
better than most, but not the best when it comes to coordination.
B
]
We haven't had
since Season 2, and that's given this trinket a LOT of time to cook and scale its benefits at Season 4's new item level cap. The magic debuff this leaves on you should be easy enough to dispel quickly (unless you're on a dispel-heavy fight like
), granting you a
massive
amount of Versatility and a sizable shield on your nearby allies. This will likely see some use in high-level Mythic+ dungeons because of that added survivability.
B
]
Council of Dreams
/
This trinket lacks any Haste, and cycling it to Mastery is a very poor beenfit for us. The best part about it is the large amount of static Intellect it gives us, but other trinkets do that better, without giving us any Mastery (or in ]'s case, the Mastery is entirely tertiary to using it).
C
]
While the secondary stats this item gives is rather large, our cooldowns don't really line up with it, and if it gives you Mastery when you need to use it to increase your healing, this trinket is just better replaced by something else. The need to empower our Celestial every minute is already done better by ] as it syncs up with
every
cast of them, and increasing the healing of
is largely inconsequential.
C
]
While the whelp you call can be trained to do a myraid of different things, like grant you Critical Strike or Haste, the infrequent summoning rate and rather flat buffs leave much to be desired.

Good for keeping one person alive
really well
, but the damage it deals is ignorable. Might have some specific-use cases in high Mythic+, in order to avoid abilities that would otherwise one-shot an ally, but outside of that, don't expect to dust it off if you get it.

The following list focuses on the most impactful throughput increases for early in Season 4. As you continue to raid and complete Mythic+ dungeons, you may find that certain equipment slots have already gotten sizable upgrades, letting you spend

Best Items to Upgrade with Crests for Mistweaver Monks
With Crests being a resoruce limited by a weekly cap, Mistweaver Monks should focus them on pieces of equipment that we'll keep equipped for as long as possible. Upgrading weapons and trinkets are by far the best sources to upgrade first, with other slots being a secondary focus. The following list is an example of what to save your crests for, when you acquire them, to gain the most throughput possible as quickly as you can. Past this list, a priority of high item level pieces of equipment should be upgraded, with whichever slot gives the most Intellect per upgrade level being the deciding factor in the event there's a tie.

Best Crafted Gear for Mistweaver Monks in Dragonflight
Dragonflight adds many new options for crafted gear, allowing players to craft even Mythic-equivalent gear! You'll generally want to supplement gear from Raids and Mythic+ with crafted pieces. Note that crafting is limited by
. After receiving your first
from the first week of , you will receive another
every other week while is active.
Best Gear to Spend Sparks of Awakening on for Mistweaver Monks
Once you obtain
, you should aim to craft the following items at the highest item level possible. Note that you may use the recrafting system to increase its item level later if you so desire. After crafting your best pieces, you can use sparks to improve slots that you have the lowest item level pieces, aiming to increase your average item level.
Generally, you'll want to craft gear using
only when you're sure you won't be getting an upgrade in that gear slot any time soon, or the given stats available from items in that slot are so bad that making them yourself is the better option. However, there are embellishments that might be worth spending these early on for in the season.
Even though their slots are incredibly strong for total stat allotment, do
not
craft any gear for where your tier gear will take up residence.
Your first few crafts that use
should be for pieces of gear that have your best embellishments on them, as they'll likely stay with you for the rest of the season. When choosing which secondary stats to craft these pieces with, double check between the
Critical Strike / Haste
combination and the
Critical Strike / Versatility
option with
QE Live
.
Best Embellishments for Mistweaver Monks
Crafting
items with Embellishments
gives them special properties and effects in addition to regular stats. However, you may only wear 2 pieces of gear with Embellishments at a time. With that in mind, the best Embellishments are:
]
on a Ring
]
] is your highest priority crafted item, as it only gets stronger as the season goes on and you acquire more sockets, whether from gear that naturally has them, or from
, gained from the Great Vault when none of the equipment it offers is useful, and you buy the Season 4 equivalent of
for items you already do have.
crafted on a ring, like the ], is the second embellishment we want to have equipped, as the Versatility bonus is the next best bonus offered from the system.
An honorable mention goes to ], as it offers a more support-focused embellishment, one where the bonuses it grants to other players may be better than increasing your own personal throughput. The unfortunate thing about this for us is that it takes up our Chest equipment slot, forcing us into a different peice of tier to still use our Season 4 bonus. The combination of the item's bonus and this shift in itemization doesn't make it worthwhile as either of our embellishments we would want to equip this season, but those looking for a bit of an edge in damage might want to take that hit with their itemization for this benefit.

Kinda failed guide. You literally have tier set head combined with the fire damage ring as best in slot items. It just doesn't make any sense, sorry.

It's not listed here at all, but I think the Primal Ritual Shell should be listed as an S-tier trinket, in spite of its low ilvl. It does a ridiculous amount of healing, and has a solid 10-16% up time, with it coming in top 3 or 4 overall healing in the dungeons. I have a 379 and a 389 version on both of my healers, and they both do a lot. The dmg buff it offers is garbage though, but you could also use the high mastery proc if you chose.

I think you guys downplayed the Smoldering Seedling. That alone will send you to top heals when its grouped up with players around it. Just pop absorb shield and hit it once or twice with a HoT or a burst like vivify. So it can stay alive and give out the max amount of heals while your out healing and doing monk things. Its a very powerful tool and a combo that really works well with monk when it comes to stacking up with players since most boss fights you will have to group up. Or even at the last fight when you have to heal the adds and also keep a eye on the party. That will do the job for you while you focus on adds. It has alot of good uses.

Unless I'm completely blind, the overall BiS list only has 1 embellishment listed (Lariat). So where does the second one fit in? Or is it intended to only have 1 for MW monk?

For season 4 I wouldn't necessarily rush Neltharion's trinket. It's really useful only for raid Yu'lon ramp builds. For m+ it's totally overkill to stack all of your power inside your Chi-Ji window. Chi-Ji is enough on his own. And if you don't want to play that degenerate Yu'Lon build in ramp same story it's a bit overkill to go with this trinket. It's not as bad but there's a lot of options that provide better throughput/utility imho.
