Night Fae Beast Mastery Hunter Covenant Abilities
Night Fae Hunter Class Ability:
is a 2-minute cooldown that places a fairly large area of effect at a targeted location. Other players are only able to see a faint visual. While enemies remain in the area, every damaging ability you cast causes Wild Spirits to deal nature damage to up to 5 enemies within the area (dealing damage to a single target automatically hits up to 5 targets, you do not need to hit those 5 targets). Enemies within the circle are also marked with
and take 5% increased damage while Wild Spirits persists. If enemies are moved out of the circle, they will no longer take damage nor benefit from the 5% increased damage.
Night Fae is Beast Mastery's best all-around covenant but is by far the best option for cleave damage. The fact that
is a 2-minute cooldown causes it to lose a bit of value as it isn't as flexible as most other Covenant options. Depending on cadences, Wild Spirits may can be extremely strong burst damage. You will want to ideally line it up with both
and
.
Night Fae Conduit for
is the Night Fae-specific Conduit for Hunters that buffs
. This is an excellent Conduit and a strong choice if you are Night Fae. Spirit Attunement adds both damage and duration onto what is already an excellent cooldown, which makes the ability even stronger.
Beast Mastery Hunter Conduit Guide
Night Fae Signature Ability:
Night Fae gives us access to
.
allows us to teleport a short distance and provides a solid movement speed bonus for a short period afterward. Additionally, every few seconds you can reactivate the teleport to continually teleport while soul-shaped. While the additional teleport and movement speed can be useful, practically speaking, Hunters don't have too many uses for it considering we have
and
. You are also unable to attack during
. It is a very nice quality of life ability though.
That being said, Soulshape is one of the coolest abilities speaking in terms of aesthetics. By progressing through your Covenant campaign, you will unlock different soulshape forms, allowing you to shift into different animal forms. You can morph into Unicorns, Tigers, Bears, Toads and many more! For a full list of possible forms, check out this
article
! Additional soulshapes have been added in patch 9.1.
Night Fae Exclusive Legendary for Hunters
NEW Night Fae Legendary
: When
hits fewer than 5 targets, there is a 100% chance to proc it a second time.
is Night Fae's covenant legendary which we gain access to through
. This is a unique legendary that gives Night Fae the best burst cleave damage out of all of the covenants in the 2-4 target range, assuming the enemies are grouped together. The downside to this legendary is that as soon as a 5th target is introduced, it no longer works and you're essentially playing without a legendary.
Other Legendary Interactions for Night Fae Beast Mastery Hunters
works based on using abilities that target enemies, meaning the more abilities you use that hit up to 5 targets at once, the more times it procs. None of the hunter legendary powers enable you to proc Wild Spirits more, so there are no important legendary interactions to consider.

Best Night Fae Beast Mastery Hunter Renown 80 Soulbind
Beast Mastery Hunters will want to always stick with Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver has both
and
which synergize really well with Beast Mastery's toolkit. We don't have any issues staying inside of
typically since we have no trouble with movement. We'll want to use
,
for conduits, with
in AoE scenarios and
in single-target.
Conduits are socketed in order of highest priority from top to bottom in order to facilitate the greatest benefit when empowering conduit rows from renown. Please see our Beast Mastery Hunter Conduit Guide for more information on Conduits including Empowered Conduits.

Night Fae Beast Mastery Hunter Covenant Rotation Changes
For Night Fae Beast Mastery Hunters specifically, a bug currently exists with Wild Spirits, assuming you are using the correct talent build with
and
. While using this talent combination, using
currently produces two procs of
rather than one.
amplifies this, causing a total of 4 procs. Thus, to make full use of the bug, you'll want to pump out as many Barbed Shots as possible during your Wild Spirits window, which slightly alters your rotation during cooldowns.
For more information on the Beast Mastery Hunter rotation, check out the guide linked below.

The recommended talent build stays the same as for other covenants. As always, for more information, check out the Talent page for more information.

Night Fae Beast Mastery Hunter Gearing Differences
Your gearing and stat priorities do not change with Night Fae. You will still want to prioritize higher ilvl pieces for more Agility, and you will still want to get Haste, Versatility and Crit for your secondary stats. Remember that Agility is much more important than in BFA, so if you have any questions about what piece is better, always sim yourself to get the best results.
Night Fae Beast Mastery Hunter Soulbinds Explained
Night Fae have access, across all classes and specs, to the same three Soulbinds:
Niya
,
Dreamweaver
, and
Korayn
. They are the NPCs you complete the zone story with and allow you to "attune" yourself to them to gain access to a tree of upgrades centered around your base toolkit (through Conduits) and covenant abilities (through special, game-wide traits).
The tree progressively unlocks based on completion steps (such as finishing the campaign) and your Renown level with the Night Fae covenant. I've summarized the optimal traits for each Soulbind below, along with potential conduits to slot in.
Niya gives you 4 major DPS traits:
gives you a small amount of passive Mastery throughout the fight. Where it really shines though, is that by using
, you gain 16 stacks of the Mastery buff for a short period of time. It lasts the entirety of Wild Spirits. Considering we pair it with both
and
typically, this allows us to output quite a bit of burst every 2 minutes, especially in AoE situations. The other really cool thing about this trait is that it gives us a pretty hefty bonus to maximum health, which can be amazing depending on the circumstance.
applies a DoT to targets after interrupting them. The damage isn't great, but taking this trait is typically better as it's paired with a second potency conduit, assuming you're able to land some interrupts.
deals a fair amount of passive damage to targets. If you've opted to take this trait over Niya's Tools: Poison, you will lose out on a second potency slot, unfortunately.
simply increases the amount of Mastery gained from
depending on how many allies of different covenants the Redirected Anima heals.
Initially, Niya will start out pretty strong, but, unlike many other soulbinds, after Renown 43, Niya doesn't gain another DPS trait until Renown 55. And even so,
isn't an amazing gain compared to some other signature soulbind traits. It also loses value if you don't have one of every covenant in your group when
is used. We'll want to use
,
for conduits, with
in AoE scenarios and
in single-target.
In addition to two potency conduits, Niya gives us access to two Endurance conduits and a Finese conduit. This allows us to equip
and
which helps a ton in the survivability department and
which is a small benefit. Between
and
(if taken), we have a very high incentive to hog interrupts so be sure to interrupt as much as possible!
An example tree to follow on this Soulbind is as follows:
Dreamweaver gives you two potential DPS traits:
gives a large Haste buff whenever
is activated. Field of Blossoms basically gives us a small Bloodlust during Wild Spirits adding to the insane burst.
provides a passive amount of Versatility to you and a few surrounding allies while within range of each other.
increases damage ton to the target by 1%, stacking up to 3 times. Very nice trait that is a straight damage gain in single target, benefiting us as well as our pets.
Dreamweaver's second potency slot forces us to choose between
and another potency conduit. In this case, we want to go for the second potency slot for overall DPS. That being said, Social Butterfly isn't too far behind and gives us access to 4 total endurance conduits (along with the Versatility provided by Social Butterfly). Due to the strength of
and
, Dreamweaver is by far our best soulbind option, assuming we can take advantage of Field of Blossom's area of effect.
Dreamweaver has a ton of survivability dispersed throughout her tree. She can potentially gives us access to 4 Endurance conduits. As a Hunter, this means we'll go for both
,
, and
. Additionally, Dreamweaver also gives other solid defensives:
is a free cheat death! Instead of taking damage that would otherwise kill you, instead, you are wrapped in a cocoon, healing you back to 30% health. This may only happen once every 10 min.
provides an absorb shield equal to 30% of our health when we take damage below 80% health. This is a great trait on par with our Endurance conduits.
An example tree to follow on this Soulbind is as follows:
Korayn gives you these DPS traits:
buffs our damaging abilities by 10% while targets are either above 75% health. Works best in AoE situations.
gives us a 25% Critical Strike bonus for the first 5 seconds after damaging a new enemy. This works for
any
enemy, including new add spawns. First Strike is an amazing trait for AoE, but is subpar on sustained single target fights.
is somewhat of a reverse to Wild Hunt Tactics. After benefiting from Wild Hunt Tactics, you gain a buff that persists for 1 minute. If you then damage an enemy under 35% health, you gain 5% increased damage for 10 sec. As you might expect, 1 min isn't a very long time. Realistically, we're only going to be benefitting from this trait in AoE content.
Korayn only gives us an option to have two potency slots. His third potency slot forces us to forfeit
. Which option we go for largely depends on the type of content you're doing. For raid, going for the third potency slot is typically better (outside of heavy AoE encounters). For Mythic+ however, First Strike is amazing considering its synergy with our legendary
.
Korayn gives us some pretty cool utility traits such as
and
(this is actually really big for Hunters considering our Bow/Gun breaks ALL the time). Depending on which route you opt to go, Korayn potentially gives us two endurance conduit slots, in which case, we'll want to use
and
. However, if you opt to go for the second potency slot, you still get a fairly strong defensive option.
is a solid passive damage reduction trait.
An example tree to follow on this Soulbind is as follows:
Double Legendaries for Night Fae Beast Mastery Hunter
Patch 9.2 adds the option of using two legendaries at the same time, with the restriction that one of them is your Covenant legendary. This change empowers Night Fae Beast Mastery Hunter even more. You can learn more about it in our Legendary Guide.

How exactly is the potency conduit you get by choosing Poison over Burrs worth it? Sure by adding Bloodletting in that conduit slot makes the rotation a bit smoother, But in terms of raiding and even in low to mid keys where interrupts tend to be every man for himself Poison in general will not be a dps gain. So swapping the much higher parsing choice of Burrs for a mediocre at best conduit choice doesnt make sense.
