In Shadowlands, the upcoming WoW expansion following Battle for Azeroth, all playable classes are slated to receive significant update. Many abilities removed with the mass prune from Legion as well as past expansions are back! In this overview, we'll highlight all returning class abilities and talents.

The Unpruning
Many abilities previously removed or made into talents (the so-called "pruning process") over the years have now returned to their Classes.

So glad that Shamans are getting Tremor Totem and Capacitor Totem back, the class just doesn't feel the same without them.
Oh, wait... :P
Also, in the Deep Dive they showed Death Coil as a class-wide ability as well, but it's missing from this guide. Should probably be added.
Edit:
By the way, in an interview it was confirmed that Death and Decay and Chains of Ice will be available to all three DK specs. They're currently missing from Frost and Blood respectively.

Resonance Trap: Hurls a resonance trap to the target location that fills the area with echoing anima for 10 sec when the first enemy approaches it. The effect causes your attacks to ignore line of sight to enemies in the area, and you have 30% increased critical strike chance against them. Trap will exist for 1 min.
So... does it mean that SV hunter will become ranged again?

Seriously hope they dont think thats going to fix classes. A small number of returning abilities wont make up for everything removed since MoP nor make the classes anymore fun to play. Most of them need a rehaul back to better designs, not just a few flavor abilities.

Ugh, why are they homogenizing classes? What happened to the idea of each specialization and talent selection feeling unique and purposeful? I thought Shadowlands was going to be alt friendly, but apparently not so much so that each alt feels like playing a different character, because they certainly won't if two characters of the same class share too many of the same abilities. That means playing alts of the same class is going to be boring.
Why would I want to use frost and arcane as a fire mage? Why do I need more DPS abilities if the ones I already have already do their job? Why do I need shadow DPS abilities as a holy priest? Why do I need abilities that other classes and specs have, making them less unique and special?
I'm just not even going to add some of this clutter to my bar. I want to play a video game, not a piano.

As a Rogue, I like the way the specs are currently and I don't welcome poisons to all specs, it's stupid.
They should give back garrote to all specs, even if only castable from stealth, because it's a CC Subtlety and Outlaw lost. They could give disarm to all specs, because frankly, it's another CC Subtlety and Assassination lost. They could give Shadowstep to all specs, and make a talent for Outlaw to replace it with Grappling Hook. You know, give back the skills that are actually useful and were taken away from some specs just to fit the spec theme?
But don't go ahead and throw spec thematic out off the window, because Legion overhaul was a good thing and I don't want to go back to "all specs feel the same, just pick the one with higher DPS" option we had back in the days.

Please, PLEASE, give us back talent trees. The reason, why they were removed (if I remember it) was, that with lvl 90,100,120... there would be a huge amount of talents and people would be just lost in them.
With level 60, it seems manageable! But so we can make builds, not like in cataclysm, where you had to take them all.
Also, pre-cata warlock was the most fun to play. After MOP it was just not much fun. Can we get the cool warlock, instead of hunter recolor?

druids have to much allready >.< my bars are literaly FULL! :p id love to get cyclone back but i must allready choose not to take it as a warmode spell cus... well i dont have space on ma bars and i only have 10 fingers xD if there is one class that does not need much unpruning it is the balance druid.. :p
meanwhile my blood dk has like 3 spells to press :p and so much room for more spells X,D

Ok clearly shows that whoever is giving Shield Block back to all specs for warriors hasn't play warrior. Fury has never been able to use shields so how is it even remotely a spec it should be available for?

I will trade the silly Shadow Word: Death for Shadow Word: Pain anyday. This is the DoT I miss as I run holy. Mind Blast is meh and as ShadowForm (Shadow) do I really need a Flash Heal when I have a heal already? Besides, using it always would take you out of ShadowForm (for a reason), so no.

they removezd so much of the class and killed them. this expansion feel underwhelming gameplay wise, only 1 new spell? and some passives talents...no new class, no cross class system (like the revolution was D&D 2 to D&D 3 , 4th spec ?
at least bring back more gameplay changing talents:
- Gladiator warrior
- Mageladin
- Trap hunter (without pet please)
- Tank restauration earth shaman (eath ascendant is missing) or totem shaman.
-3rd spec for demon hunter
- mid ranged rogue (pistolero?)
-more freedom for druid (mixing abilities and form)
we need more gameplay customisations , cosmetic is secondary.
edit: this aticle don't mention anything about class weapon changes

This is all but admission they screwed up. Stat/Level Squish is going to screw up a lot of stuff like it always does. I'm curious how badly its going to nerf doing older content for xmog/mats/mounts.
But we're kinda used to raising the bar only to squish it, reskin it and call it an expansion. gg blizzard.

On behalf of all priests out there, please give us Silence back. It really, really sucks not having that as disc and/or holy. It's definitely missed. Super useful and fun spell. I also miss Mind Soothe, although it was really specific in its application.
Getting Mind Blast, Flash Heal, and Shadow Word: Death does nothing for me as a disc priest. Nothing interesting there. We already have Schism, Smite, Penance, Shadow Word:Pain (or Purge the Wicked), and Holy Nova. Mind Blast doesn't make sense in that we already have DPS options. The same goes for Shadow Word: Death - does nothing for us. Flash Heal also doesn't make sense since we already have Shadow Mend.
Something that could actually help disc would be some kind of baseline emergency group heal that doesn't rely on Atonement healing. We used to have Prayer of Healing, and that was good. It would also be nice to have some kind of basic passive HoT again, like Renew or Prayer of Mending. Just something to help smooth over certain types of damage that we currently can't deal with well. Either that or give us absorb effects back and/or empower Power Word: Shield in some way, even if minor. I love disc but it definitely does not feel like I'm a "priest" sometimes. We also can't remove poisons, which has always annoyed me.
These are just ideas. Even one minor addition would be really helpful. I would be so giddy if we got Silence back. Just that one thing. I can deal with the lame healing situations with certain key affixes.

I would like to see the pre-cataclym dispell-system see a return and give more support abilities back to non-healer for example blessing of sacrifice.
I think its better game play wise because you are not focused on doing only one thing and fits better into the lore of the game.

Contagion Bolt? Mages have diseases? I’ve played a mage since BC, I don’t recall ever having an ability to cast a disease. I may be wrong, and I apologize if I am, a mage was my primary for only one xpac. But I've kept it up as an alt since. I just don't recall being able to do anything with diseases. That sounds more like Death Knight, or Warlock, not mage. I suppose, being around warlocks since vanilla and death knights since WotLk they might have learned a thing or two. Might be interesting to play.

Curious, are all classes getting an ability from the covenants, or just the ones listed above? Or, is this just a partial list and the others haven't been revealed from Blizzard yet?
Edit: Reading further I found the answer. Not all abilities have been released yet. Ok, very good. It's not like Blizzard to leave out a good portion of the classes in things like this, which is what had me wondering.

while these additions to shaman is welcome it's not enough. what about restoration, it needs a tank heal. or enchantment, now that there is no maelstrom, what would happen to the little survivability through healing surge? will it have a cast time making it unusable or will it be instant? or elemental? without a group elemental is a joke.
forget raid or mythic+, pve is a challenge for shaman. I've tried to do assaults with my shaman, killing an elite was hard, rares almost impossible without all the cooldowns. no other class has this kind of difficulty.

most of what you asked for is already in game or would be too strong without a compromising overhaul.
-mageladin...So shockadin or priest, if you want more spells they would have to either A) lower the class of armor they use from heavy to chainmail at least, or B)
lower their damage so they are weaker than any of the other ranged casters
-trap hunter...that would be a survival hunter which is already in game
-tank restoration earth shaman … Lol so you want a class that can tank, or maybe just OT, heal with the best of them, be ranged, wear chain mail? Come on man,
that's way too strong. I COULD see a tank SPEC though. Chain mail, shield and 1h, the weapon buff that used to generate threat
(forgot the name) earth shock for extra threat, passives to reduce dmg taken from say casters or something, or a totem.
-3rd spec for DH … While I do agree this would be nice, figuring it out that wouldn't break the fantasy or that makes sense is the tough part. can't do ranged DH,
breaks fantasy, doesn't make sense, healer? I don't see it, doesn't make sense, only thing I could see would be another DPS spec. maybe a DoT
spec, so kind of be like a melee affliction lock. That's about all I can think of.
-mid-ranged rogue (pistoleer) - This one is kinda in game except for the midranged part, but I think they could make the pirate spec rogue full ranged, would be a
different way to play rogue instead
-more freedom for druid (mixing abilities and form) - They have this to a lesser degree than what im guessing you are talking about. Do too much mixing and you have
unkillable tanks, cats who can fry you from ranged as well as melee. Its an extremely delicate balancing act when
intermixing the specs, cant make it too strong or it dominates everything, too weak and all the hardcore druid
players do nothing but complain.

Hopefully we will see more weapon options for classes other than Frost DK and Monk going forward. Warrior, Shaman, DK and SV Hunter all deserve to be able to utilise both the two handed and dual wield options.

Mage changes are a joke. Nothing really interesting. I think frost should have deep freeze back, otherwise it still lack the ability to reliably take on any melee. Since legion, the melee has way too mutch gapcloser. The only reliable caster against them is a destru lock, with it's high burst damage, and tankiness. (Btw nice addittion to give them back demonic circle as a baseline) But back to mages, they still lack the ability to defend themselves, especially frost. They are far less mobile than a fire, relying on casted frostbolts and some lances. But they will be forced into defensive play so fast and they are bad in that too. Especially if we think about that warriors getting back shattering throw. Oh yeah, ice block doesn't help them. The biggest problem is, it is almost impossible to get a window for bursts.
About shadow priests... well... pretty useless outside of 3s or battlegrounds. Until Legion it always relyed on DoTs backed up with some mindflay, sometimes a mind blast. Now it rely on casted spells, like void eruption etc. The SH lost so mutch of it's mobility, that it cannot withstand against melees or really anything in a 1v1 sceneario.
About warlock, hm... seems pretty ok for me, the demonic circle and the curses are a good step forward.Still the only one caster (outside of elem sham and/or balance dud) that I can imagine standing its ground against most classes. (PS.: Fire mage can do that too, thanks to its mobility)
