Welcome to Wowhead's Arms Warrior Arena PvP Guide, up to date for 9.2! In this section of the guide, we will cover the best talents for Arms Warriors in Arena PvP, optimal PvP Talent builds, and the best racials for both Alliance and Horde Arms Warriors in PvP. Arms Warriors currently have one main talent build, though PvP Talents can be changed situationally. BfA brought more variety in useful racials, providing you with more options as an Arms Warrior in PvP.

Recommended Talent Build for Arms Warriors in PvP
There is one main build for Arms Warriors, with most talents being set-in-stone and some being more situational:
猝死
With the buff to
斩杀
making it deal an immense amount of burst pressure, it comes as no surprise that
猝死
will remain your go-to talent choice here.
碎颅打击
and
战争机器
are simply never picked due to
猝死
being stronger in any arena game!
风暴之锤
Having access to a ranged stun with a relatively low cooldown gives you great options in both offense and defence. You can use it to connect to your target and burst them down whilst they are locked in place, to stop big damage spell casts or important crowd control from landing.
风暴之锤
will be used nearly all of the time.
再度冲锋
could have its uses if you don’t need the stun and require more mobility against certain classes. It also has great synergy with
战神
if you want to tunnel certain classes and pressure them heavily.
胜利在望
can be more useful in situations where you NEED this in order to live. Lacking
风暴之锤
will make it much more difficult to have killing opportunities, but if all you need is survival for yourself in order to win, then this talent could be worth it.

has increased in power now that
斩杀
hits
MUCH
harder, making it the go-to most of the time. It's the main choice as it can create a bigger window of kill opportunity against anyone!
撕裂
is better for overall DPS against high-armored targets teams, such as plate wearers or mail wearers with a shield. However if you are Venthyr,
屠杀
will always be your go-to!
战斗狂热
Is simply too weak compared to the other 2, never being picked.
防御姿态
Even with the nerf, this talent is needed for an Arms Warrior's survivability. Having a short cooldown to reduce incoming damage by 10% makes it decent against all types of pressure. Unfortunately it reduces your pressure by 20% as well, making it difficult to maintain pressure when being trained.
复苏之风
is useless in arena.
腾跃步伐
could be useful if you know for sure that you won’t need
防御姿态
and may need the extra mobility to increase your pressure. If the enemy team is smart though, they will punish your use of not having
防御姿态
, so use it at your own risk!
灭战者
This talent spreads
巨人打击
and
重伤
to anyone in its radius. This means that when you
剑刃风暴
, it will deal absolutely absurd damage to everyone with the Warbreaker debuff up. It will now also have added synergy with
晋升堡垒之矛
, giving you big multi-target pressure.
顺劈斩
and
间接伤害
are decent other choices, considering the choices in this row are lacklustre in general. You could use either of these if you're worried about missing your
灭战者
天神下凡
天神下凡
is a strong offensive ability on a relatively short cooldown. It adds to your burst damage and can potentially force defensive cooldowns, making it highly valuable. It can also be used as a root breaker giving you extra mobility against heavy root classes, such as Hunters or Mages.
Nowadays,
杀心骤起
is seen less due to the fact you're being peeled in every
巨人打击
usage against good teams, meaning you will not benefit too much from this talent.
致命平静
is not as powerful as the other 2 talents here, due to the fact that the other 2 significantly help more with dealing pressure during your offensive cooldowns. This could have nice synergy with Venthyr gameplay, but ultimately is never really picked.
悍勇无畏
愤怒掌控
has lost its value, losing to
悍勇无畏
in overall single target pressure. I do like this option against other
缴械
classes if they use
缴械
on every
灭战者
, which will allow me to get Warbreaker windows when they don't have Disarm ready! I would only take this as a last resort, as losing out on
悍勇无畏
is a big overall DPS loss, so only do this if you feel like you can't win without
愤怒掌控
(which is rarely the case).
悍勇无畏
now gives not only 2 charges of Overpower but increases its damage, merging
地震波
into this talent.
粉碎壁垒
also buffs this talent, making it excellent in all situations for pressure. It can also deal damage into niche effects, such as going through
疾影
or
怒雷叶轮
. This will be your nearly all the time.
破坏者
Is simply a lacklustre choice, losing
剑刃风暴
for it which is quite a big blow to an Arms Warrior. This makes it unattractive in general and the other 2 choices are much stronger.
Recommended PvP Talents for Arms Warriors
PvP Talents
Currently, there are many PvP talents to choose from as Arms. Most choices provide excellent utility, mainly great for defensive purposes. Knowing which one use can be a huge asset in an arena game and by experimenting with these PvP talents yourself, you’ll get to grips with which spells you prefer using in certain matchups. If uncertain about which PvP talents to use in your matchups, a nice rule you could follow is simply trying out new things in matchups you're losing anyway, seeing if other PvP talents could help and if you're winning then can just stick to what's working. I’ll cover the good, bad and niche PvP Talents.
毁灭风暴
毁灭风暴
is a useful PvP talent, providing cooldown reduction for your
剑刃风暴
and applying the
致死打击
debuff. It's simple yet highly effective, especially when dealing cleave pressure or when reducing hybrid off-heals. It also has excellent synergy with
迷狂乱舞的回忆
, making it an even more powerful for extra damage. I also like taking this against teams with plenty of root-effects, so that you can break this CC more often during an arena game.

打磨利刃
gives a high healing reduction effect on a low cooldown, making this PvP talent excellent for offensive situations. It makes it difficult for healers to deal with, if you combine it with big pressure. Using this could be necessary most of the time to land kills or have enough pressure against certain compositions. The only time I'd stray away from this PvP talent is if I'm in a matchup where all I need to do is survive to win, not needing much the aggression.

Another great defensive talent that can be used in dire situations is
缴械
.
缴械
is great against most melee specs (not good into Feral Druids, Ret Paladins or Windwalker Monks) as it completely stops most, if not all of their damage! It also stops them from using certain crowd control spells (e.g
肾击
,
风暴之锤
,
凿击
).
缴械
is very effective when used in this way and it's warranted against most melee classes.

Now that
指挥大师
is nerfed to a 2 minute cooldown, it will see less use but it can still be a strong defensive cooldown if you need extra HP for you or your teammates to survive heavy burst pressure. It has excellent synergy with the
英姿勃发
conduit, which would make

more potent.

The use of
战旗
is situational, as it can have high rewards when timed well to gain pressure or to reduce pressure depending on the situation. You could, for instance, save it to use defensively - utilizing it to reduce incoming chain crowd control on your healer, allowing them to break from that crowd control earlier which should be enough to survive the offensive setup. I'd say it's mainly used defensivelly, but you could potentially use it offensively too. If sensing blood in the water, use it to keep up to your target and reduce the peeling crowd control from your enemies, allowing you to potentially sneak in a kill.

This is a nice choice when needing extra pressure or sometimes peels against melee, but it's mainly taken for the pressure. It can also be handy to allow easier usages of
晋升堡垒之矛
against certain classes. It also increases in pressure dramatically with offensive cooldowns, allowing you to have extra burst pressure if you want to take someone down quickly. It has great synergy with
再度冲锋
if you want to have maximum damage against some classes.

决斗
is one of those defensive cooldowns that is powerful at countering offensive cooldowns used on your teammates. For example, it can be used on spells such as
燃烧
,
冰霜之柱
, or
复仇之怒
to name a few. That being said, this talent will be worthless if you are the main target yourself, making another option like
指挥大师
better in this situation. It also will lower your damage on any other target, except from the dueled target, which could be iffy to use against certain compositions. It's great in situations where you need the low cooldown peeling for your partners, as well as knowing that you will be a hard or unfavorable kill target for the enemy team.
巨人之影
巨人之影
gives extra pressure, but is underwhelming when compared to
打磨利刃
,
毁灭风暴
or
战神
. These talents and the other strong defensive talent options means that this PvP talent is never picked for arena gameplay. The only time you should consider using this is if you do World Quests with PvP Mode, which will make this talent choice acceptable.
毁灭
Since the damage nerf on
毁灭
, it's became less attractive as you won't be able to annihilate players through their shields anymore. That being said, it could still be utilized against certain classes or compositions with big absorb shield effects, such Necrolord Warlocks, having access to both
黑暗契约
and
血肉铸造
.
死亡裁决
死亡裁决
is nice against elusive targets when struggling for uptime, allowing you to catch up to your target. This is due to having
猝死
and
屠杀
, which will allow your
斩杀
to be used at a distance, closing the gap on your target of choice. Now that this has been nerfed in Patch 9.2, I would only pick this PvP talent if I was in dire need of extra up-time AND if the other PvP talents wouldn't be stronger in its place, making this a very niche pick, arguably a bad choice in most situations.
Optimal Racials for Arms Warriors in PvP
Racials have always been a key aspect of arena PvP. Even with many changes to the racials over the years,
Humans
and
Orcs
remain the best racials for each respective faction. That being said though, you could still achieve rank 1 titles in PvP with other racials if you wish to play them, but it would be significantly easier playing the best racial. If not going for Rank 1 titles, then you could be any racial you want without any significant effect for your desired rating or achievement you wish to go for. As such, I have included other racials which work well in PvP as well!
Alliance
Human
Due to the removal of
角斗士勋章
from your PvP talent bar, the human racial (
生存意志
) is an excellent choice once again. Having access to powerful trinkets whilst still having the human racial as an out will make this a great racial in most situations. Even having double trinkets can be nice in this high bursty meta, making humans a bit more difficult to kill in offensive setups.
Gnome
I love playing a Gnome because having
逃命专家
is hugely beneficial. Roots can be a Warrior's worst nightmare, and having a one minute cooldown to remove them makes Gnome one of the best Alliance racials, in my opinion.
Dwarf & Dark Iron Dwarf
If Ferals and Assassination Rogues are popular, Dwarf or Dark Iron Dwarf can be spectacular to reduce their pressure. I’d prefer Dark Iron Dwarf for
烈焰之血
, but the regular Dwarf is just as good for its main effect,

, removing all bleeds and poisons!
Night Elf
Night Elf has some skill in using
影遁
well, but it can be nice to deter yourself from big damaging spells, or sometimes CC abilities if you can time it really well. As such, it can be fun to play, however the other options will be safer choices as they are strong and easy to use.
Other Options
Other than these, the other racials are still good but not as great. I can definitely see uses for all of them but the above are my recommendations.
Horde
Orc
As for Horde, the mighty Orc remains the top seed on this faction due to
坚韧
being such a powerful racial for PvP. Stuns are a common way for enemy players to take someone down and having this stun reduction can be the difference between life or death.
血性狂怒
is also much stronger than it has been previously, due to modifiers in PvP allowing for huge burst potentially, adding to the value of being an Orc. This racial also stacks with
塞弗斯的宣言
which can make it tedious for enemy Rogues or Feral Druids.
Blood Elf
The Blood Elf racial (
奥术洪流
) was also nerfed, which was previously the next best option. Now it's decent for having a purge but on such a long cooldown, making it rare to be useful.
Troll
Troll provides you with a great offensive cooldown in
狂暴
which can be used to increase your burst damage. However, its main attraction is that it provides you with constant snare reduction, in the form of
巫毒步
. This can be extremely useful against Frost Death Knights, or pretty much any class that constantly snares you.
Pandaren
Pandaren are also now making their way into the ladder. Having a slight stat buff from food is nice but the main reason is due to their powerful racial
震山掌
. This can be used whilst silenced or even locked out, as another way of crowd controlling and stopping your enemies in their path, if timed well it can prove to be an amazing racial to play with.
Other Options
Again, the other Horde racials could be used but they will all pale in comparison to Orc, so that's what I recommend.
Note:
Unless you plan on pushing for a Rank 1 title, the racials won't have as much of an impact at lower ratings than this - if you want to be any other racial whilst playing PvP more casually, feel free to!

The only thing that truly bothers me is Defensive Stance not being an ACTUAL stance, thus making it a pain in the ass to include it in macros via stance conditionals. Is either using a toggle macro !spell or being prone to putting yourself in the wrong stance if you dare to bake it in any of your regular macros.
