Attunement for Blackwing Lair may not be easy, but it's simple in what you have to do.
1. Go up to the platform where Blackrock Spire is.
2. Instead of entering the instance, go down the hall to the right. At the end of the hall is a mob that drops a letter. (
3. The letter will begin a quest. (
4. The orb is behind General Drakkisath in UBRS, kill him and touch the orb behind him. Turn in the quest.
Just a small correction- you don't HAVE to kill him, he just needs to be distracted for long enough for you to complete the quest, but it's impolite to risk wiping your group by running off to touch the orb while they're all trying to down Drakkisath.
A small correction to Incendiums' post.
Since the last patch, the mob you speak of (The Quartermaster) was moved from that place. Take a RIGHT from where you would normally enter LBRS/UBRS and a first to the LEFT, down that little corridor.
The ORB to enter Blackwing Lair still resides in the same place.
Order of Bosses in Blackwing Lair
Broodlord Lashlayer -
So if you are entering BWL, you have most likely either killed Domo, or killed Rag. Good job if you have just done so. BWL is honestly nothing close to MC. MC has lots of trash, and than a boss. BWL has Boss, Boss, Big room that leads to Boss, Boss, and than SOME trash, than a boss, trash, boss, little trash, big boss, than final boss. Each one of these bosses need to be done in a special way. For example, the Vael fight WILL leave at least 6 people dead at the end. This is because of Burning Adrenaline, which makes the person have no cast time but explode after some time, taking those around him with him. But relax a bit, for now you should be really worrying about Razorgore.
Class specific loot dropping in this instanceconsits of the Tier 2 armor set (Wrath, Dragonstalkers, Ten Storms, Judgement, Transendence, etc).
Razorgore drops the bracers
Vaelstraz drops the belts
Broodlord drops the Boots
The gloves are dropped randomly by the three drakes
The shoulders drop from Chromaggus
Nefarian drops the chest piece.
Onyxia (Onxyia's Lair) Drops the Helm
Ragnaros (Molten Core) drops the Legs
Also, the earlier bosses have a chance at dropping class-specific trinkets, which are not great for every class, but are overall helpful.
As of the 2.0.1 patch, Before the Storm, The loot seeds have been changed. Alliance can obtain Shaman loot, and Horde can obtain paladin loot. This was not possible before. While inconvinenent, it provides a nice source of Nexus Crystals
Hint for Healer during Razorgore fight.
Keep back to wall.
Talk to group members about your healing area.
Don't waste mana during the first part of fight.
If you get aggro run up the stairs and jump off of balcony.
How many 70s does it take to clear this these days?
Remember... if all else fails, kite it to Vael's room.
Still requires Attument to be able to enter. Same goes for Molten Core, but not for Onyxia.
i two manned ony as a 80 DK w/ my 80 DK friend think i can 3 man this place?
I had a lot of trouble finding the Quartermaster so I am posting this.
The attunement requirement with WotLK release is still in effect. The mob,
has been moved away from the orb. This was done because he interfered with groups forming for BWL raids in the area.
Upon entering the Spire from Burning Steppes, take the chain route to the UBRS portal. Keep going till you are half-way between the entrance and the orb at the other end of the hallway. To your left a ramp goes down. Go down that ramp and he should be right in front.
- He will drop
- Accept the quest it gives you:
- Go to UBRS. Clear to
. Interact with the orb behind him.
- No you do not have to kill the General.
Congratulations. You are now attuned.
you can simply 10 man this with all 80
Just some info for people who like to do this with very small groups - me and some friends successfully did it 4-man except Vael who we had to bring in a fifth for (though it should be doable with an ideal group composition easily. Rogues and Warriors (execute spam once Vael reaches 20%) deal BOATLOADS of damage at 80, especially well geared 80s). We killed Onyxia and got four cloaks made before going into BWL.
Razorgore - Have the tank grab all the adds and tank in the middle of the room. Have the healer stand on top of the tank and pull healing aggro to get the mobs to the tank. Have a dps kill the blackwing mages ONLY (if you only have 3 people, ignore this role). the last player runs around breaking the eggs with razorgore.
Vaelstrasz - Warriors, Rogues, Feral Druids, and DKs are absolutely amazing for this. It could be 3 or 4 manned if you had Warrior/Rogue/Rogue/Shaman (for bloodlust and some heals at the beginning) or possibly even Rogue/Rogue/Blood Death Knight (3-man). Just pop all cooldowns, including Bloodlust. the main tank will be killed 1 minute into the fight, while mana users are targetted and killed really fast with BA. The less mana users the better. As I mentioned earilier, we brought in a fifth member and had one log on an alt making the fight - Warrior/Warrior/Rogue/Shaman/Healadin.
Broodlord Lashlayer - incredibly easy, just stand in a corner so you don't get knocked back.
Firemaw - Put on your cloaks for this one. The only semi-difficult drake out of the three, just run out of line of sight when the debuff stacks above 20ish (although I was healing through it successfully at 41 stacks for a bit).
Ebonroc - Again, use your cloaks here. Cake, only thing is that he heals himself when he attacks the tank, but dps is so high at level 80 it doesn't matter at all, just burn him down.
Flamegor - Another cloak fight. He is the easiest of the three drakes since his special ability is enrage, which can be dispelled by loads of different mechanics now. even if you don't dispel it, healing is already super easy in BWL so it isn't an issue at all.
Chromaggus - In our group - Healadin/Tankadin/Mut Rogue/Elemental Shaman, we got hard mode chrommie (Time lapse breath) and it was hell. We barely managed to kill him after several attempts. The reason we had such a large problem is we didn't have enough sand for the whole group so Bronze was always up, Black was always up since we couldn't decurse, and Red stacks too high to cleanse effectively so we had to rely on the disease cleansing totem to slowly remove it. So if Chromaggus threw up Blue, Time lapsed, and threw up green, it was GG as most of the party got converted. In the end we finally got it just because he didn't end up doing that. Fight took about 10 minutes as he has 2 million hp.
Nefarian - significantly easier than chromaggus. some class calls can be annoying, but they aren't fight-ending. Adds are cake. with everyone having a cloak, no need to bother with freaking out about shadow flame.
And I hope those tips help you and your friends to 4-5 man BWL. When I went looking for info on some of these tactics for low-numbered-groups I found nothing besides "how to 15 man it".
do you need to do a prequest to get in?my guild wants to go get teh achievement but i want to know if i need a prequest
Haven't seen anyone post on what to do once you are attuned -- where is the entrance to this place?
2.5 manned (80 feral druid, 80 holy pal, 75 dk) except Vael, similar strategy to 4-man above.
Chromaggus (Incinerate+Frost Burn) is only boss that caused some trouble. Mostly due to intensive cleanse caused paladin OOM. It is killed after paladin go back and purchased a cleanse glyph.
for Vael, we go in with 5 man all dps (2rogue 2dk 1bear) downed before bear tank killed by 1st BA.
Do u still need 2 do the quest in LBRS b4 u can get into UBRS?
It would have been awesome had myself and my 1 friend trying to farm in here had any idea that you have to kill a boss with 400k HP right off the bat.... what a terrible place to "farm" anything.
For the sake of saying it, we did the pre-quest and even the stupid ring quest (didn't read that it was useless till we were done....) before hand, which took about 2 hours of wandering and bumbling through BRS (I hate that damn dungeon).
We did however, kill drakk with only he (lvl 80 DK) and myself (lvl 70 Rogue), neither of which are excellently geared... so that wasnt too bad.
Curious, doing a little personal research, when did Blizzard release BWL?
I'm never able to get into this raid anymore due to the error, "Additional instances cannot be launched, please try again later."
I realise this means I need to wait, but I literally sit at the stone for over an hour and then usually lose my whole raid and I still never get in.
Does anyone know what other instances or raids this instance server is tied to? So I can maybe inform the people in those instances to hurry up, or at least get a time estimate of when I'll be able to enter?
As of 26/7. You still need the attunement, however, providing a Warlock is in the instance, he/sheis able to summon people INTO the instance, regardless if they're attuned or not.
Nostalgia, My personal opinion here but does anyone else feel that Wotlk instances just lack, what Old World had?
We did BWL yesterday as a 4-man group:
DK Blood (me) Uld25
DK Blood Tank Naxx10/ToC5
Holy Pala Healer ToC5
Fire Mage Uld25
Vael was the most challenging, we needed 3 tries to down him. We also skipped Ebonroc because it's impossible to kill him with so small number of players due to DR on taunt. You can skip past him and Flamegore and go straight for Chrommagus. Also, all of us had our Onyxia Cloaks - it took 20min to buy mats on AH and makes Nefarian very easy. No need to go through additional stress because of Shadow Flame.
I was wondering if anyone has successfully solo'd this as a ret pally since ret pallys can solo Onyxia...
If anyone knows if you can i would appreciate it before i try it...or i could try it ot prove it
so I did this quest to be able to use the orb but when I click on the orb it tells me I do not meet the requirments to enter this instance does anyone know what the problem is?
Me (feral druid) and a tankadin friend duoed all of BWL except Vaelastrasz where we got a helping hand from a DK friend.
Here's how we did it:
One tank aoe tanks all adds on the orb plateau, while the other uses the orb from the ground floor to destroy eggs.
Very dps dependant fight. We had to bring in a DK friend to just get over the dps bar. Close to infinite energy/rage/runic power really boosts dps here.
He was easily tanked on the ledge on his right side to avoid the run/attack speed debuff (-400%) from the sprays in the room. The tank should tank him with his back against the wall, while dps (at least melee) can either stand in front of him with the tank or behind him. Be sure that you don't stand behind him in a manner that will get you knocked down into the floor below. I went into cat form to increase our dps as the tank could taunt Broodlord Lashlayer off me.
We took turns taunting Firemaw off eachother, and running out of LoS to clear the debuff. I used the opportunity when getting rid of the debuff to heal up a bit and throw some HoTs on the tankadin (regrowth), before I went in and taunted Firemaw off him.
We tried the two taunting tanks strategy, taunting whenever the other tank got the healing debuff, but it was faster to kill him with me in cat form as the tankadin blocked most of Ebonrocs attacks anyway.
He went down quite fast with me in cat form and the tankadin tanking. His enrage didn't hurt the tankadin that much really.
No screenshot here unfortunately.
The tankadin worked as a cleanse-bot here, and I popped innervate on him whenever he ran dry. He dispelled
stack of every debuff that he could dispell, which made the fight doable by just the two of us. We chose to ignore the curse as it "only" increased fire damage by 100% and would require me shifting out of bear form. We used about 20 Hourglass Sands each to get rid of the Brood Affliction: Bronze, but I think it's doable without it.
We chose to kill him with me as tank (feral druid), and we had both forgotten that I'd get forced into cat form during phase 2 and out. Being 20 levels higher than Nefarian, it seemed like I still had enough armor while in cat form to mitigate a lot of Nefarians damage. I used barkskin as well as herbalisms Lifeblood to have some extra survivability while being in cat form. The annoying part about being stuck in cat form from being in bear form, was that I couldn't use savage roar or berserk after I got the debuff. I could however benefit from berserk while in cat form if I casted it just before I got the debuff while in bear form. The tankadin swiftly killed the adds in phase 3 and we got Nefarion down.
I hope this helps others interrested in doing the same :)
So is it possible to run this raid with a lvl 80 prot pally runing this 60 to get (tier set 2) with not much diffuclties beacuse i want this raid armor on my tarun warrior and i want the (battlegear of wrath) on him and i want to get it fast?
Noobish question, but I'm trying to get Smelt Elementium. Is it possible to solo this, or somehow avoid the mobs all the way to Krixix? My lvl 80 shammy is poorly geared, some greens couple blues and epics.
I cannot find a soul who wants to do this, let alone any old raid zone or achievement on my server, Onyxia. I wish they would merge servers or if i could just find a group of overachievers. I've been after this raid for months and it would be nice if I could at least find a few players serious enough to do this with.
Frost Death Knight
all in at least tier 9 only real worry was Ebonroc, Elemental shaman threw out maybe 4 heals, other than that just dps'ed him down through the heals
is it at all possible to level this with a single level 80?
KK time to point out whats happening.
1. Theres going to be 1 new dungeon, and 1 new raid for Catyclysm
2. The dungeon will be 5 man, and is going to be lv 85. i forgot the name :P
3. The raid will include naferion: the raids name is Blackwing Desent.By what wowwiki says u will be able to fly into the zone by his old throne where u killed him the first time.
4. i dont know if the old version of BWL will exist by the end of WOTLK. so get your achievments!
5. Catyclysm is going to rock!
Very easily 5 maned with a Warrior tank, Druid healer, Mage, Pally and a Hunter in mid level ICC 25 gear. No special cloaks or other items were used and since the Hunter had to bail on Nef, I can tell you that he is easily 4 manned. :)
I barely healed for most of the run, and the bosses were a breeze.
An attuned 2-man 80 destro warlock using the blueberry as a tank and an 80 frost mage team can fully clear this instance with ease in less than 2 hours if just going for the boss achievement.
Nostalgia, My personal opinion here but does anyone else feel that Wotlk instances just lack, what Old World had?
Agreed. It is a real shame that BWL, MC, etc is a cake walk now. What happened to the epicness of it all? o.0 Lets hope Catacylsm brings some of that vanilla wow back.
I make sure to run this place at least once a week. Vael and Nefarian are simply the most epic boss fight ever.
"LET THE GAME BEGIN!"
Edit: The below was done at level 80. At level 85 it would be far easier.
Not only is BWL 2-mannable now, as of 4.01 it doesn't even need a tank. A mage and I (a disc priest) duoed it this evening. Some of the fights gave us a bit of trouble.
Razorgore - The mage had to control the dragonkin while I looped around the room in a figure 8 jumping off the balconies. I'd shield myself to draw aggro from new mobs, and holy nova whenever there were a bunch near me. I'd shield the mage each time I passed that side of the room as well.
Vael - The mage went arcane so that his arcane blasts when "debuffed" from Vael were doing 90k/blast. His mirror images messed with Vael's aggro so I usually got debuffed first, but it didn't matter and we got him anyway.
Broodlord, Firemaw, Flamegor -- easy. No special notes necessary.
Ebonroc -- we had a tough time because our damage couldn't outdo his healing. So we gave ourselves some extra shadow resistance via lesser flasks of resistance and greater shadow resistance cloak enchants. That was enough so that we resisted some of the debuffs from Ebonroc, so our dps now outdid it healing. I'd also save shield for when either of us was debuffed, and I would fade whenever I was debuffed and Ebonroc was attacking me. It all helped.
Chromaggus -- quite nasty. Once the mage realized he actually did have to decurse it worked fine. I couldn't even begin to keep up with the number of disease debuffs so I ignored him. (The mage iceblocked eventually to get rid of his stack). I focused on removing the blue debuff while we both removed the bronze. In the end we bagged Chromaggus, but it was a close fight. (We had a number of fire vulnerabilities which helped a great deal).
Nefarian -- we wiped several times (once due to an unlucky mind control) before we realized the bulk of our problem was the corrupted healing debuff. It was significantly increased by my spellpower. So much so that the mage had a single stack of corrupted healing on him causing him to take 3000+/second damage. I had nothing that could heal through that and so he died in short order. His chain polymorphs were doing a number on me as well.
So we came up with a new strategy. We kited the adds around the room in a big circle leaving their bodies all over the place (as 45-50 resurrected adds all at once would cause our AoE to be divided up too low to kill them easily). The mage then hid in the tunnel while I solo'ed Nef on the other side of the room to 20% (which is easy for a disc priest). We were far enough away from the mage so that he never did a mage call. At 20% the mage came out and began AoE'ing. He killed a few and my AoE killed a few, at which point I faded and chased after everyone AoE'ing along the way. The mage went down but so did 90% of the adds. I then finished up Nefarian and the adds with no difficulty.
All in all, quite fun. Some challenges were easy, some were easy once the strategy became obvious, and others were quite stressful. Definitely a worthy challenge for a mage/priest team.
2 Manned BWL last night, heres how! (Ret & Holy Pallys swapped the holy out for Arc mage on Veal so we never had more than 2 people in the instance)
Razorgore the Untamed
- The holy pally tanked all the adds until the ret pally had successfully broken all the eggs and then you just kill Razorgore. Holy word + the glyph that stuns dragonkin was excellent here. When your about to lose control of razor bring him as far away as possible, and so he dosn't die just have the ret pally go kite him until he can gain control again.
Vaelastrasz the Corrupt
- In order to have the DPS needed the holy paladin swapped out and brought his mage. Ret tanked and mage blew all CDs, Ret did about 6.6k dps and self healed while the arc mage pulled 17k! We both ended up dead but we got vael down!
- Nothing special, We got the holy pally back in with the ret and it was no problem, just extreamly slow and annoying.
- Kinda hard to time, but the idea is that when a one of us got debuffed with Shadow of Ebonroc the other would taunt. Took a while and some taunts failed which would always result in a massive restore in HP but we did it.
- Tank and spank
- Pulled him down the ramp and had the ret tank while the holy cleansed and healed like a champ! we had Corrosive Acid and Time Lapse as his set abilities. Healed to full before time lapses and cleared Brood Affliction: Bronze as before using dps cooldowns and before time lapse popped. Took a few wipes because of bad timing on stuns mixxed with Time lapse resulting in a transformation.
- AoEed the adds before working on Neff, the benefit of having 2 paladins is the debuff only nerfs the damage slightly. When the adds revive 2 quick holy wraths should take care of them but man is it a lagfest!
today, and was baffled when I ran up to the
Orb of Command
and was informed that I did not meet the requirements. Converted my party to a raid, ran back out of the little room, ran back in, was met with the same message. Tried the orb anyway, and was teleported into Blackwing Lair, just like it's supposed to.
What if any reputation does this raid effect?
i was goin through the suppression room today when i noticed the gated off path that looks like it could possibly be opened so u can skip it. anyone know how to open it? if it is in fact possible to open? ty
Just because I noticed these kind of posts have been lacking on the old instances and bosses.
I easily duoed Blackwing Lair a few times now. My group is myself (Enhancement Shaman) and a Feral Druid. I think this might be one of the more ideal setups because of class versatility (I imagine a trio of Tank, DPS, Healer would maul this instance)
It took us about 45 minutes and we made over 500 gold each between wealth and loot drops.
Razorgore was a little wonky due to phase 1 but if a druid (DK, or paladin would also be suitable I think) tanks the adds while your other class pilots Razorgore you should be fine.
Vael: This fight can get a little silly, we popped all our cooldowns and used a battle rez (I took initial aggro to get burning adrenaline) We could have done this without the battle rez but it was nice not having to spirit walk back.
Ebonroc: I think this would be very hard if you couldn't bounce him between your two toons. This might be the only fight in the game that rockbiter is useful. It seems like it might be possible to nuke him if your tank dodges him enough,
Chromaggus: You just need to be able to dispel at least one of his aspects other than bronze (and be vigilant about it)
Nefarian: I am just putting him here because as a shaman it was important for me to keep destroying his corrupted totems if not his undead minions murder you. Otherwise he wasn't really that hard. PS. Onyxia scale posts are a thing of the past.
I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that this was very doable. I recommend getting your runs in now before Blizzard nerfs it.
EDIT: just noticed the post 3 above this one detailing pretty much the same info lol.
For you DKs that are interested in soloing Blackwing Lair
Razorgore: You'll need someone to control the orb while you kill the adds. I'd recommend you do the killing because you have a lot of tools to grab aggro on everything so your friend doesn't get interrupted (Death and Decay, Blood Boil, Howling Blast for you Frost DKs, etc). Just stick close to your friend and use everything you've got. Once you engage Razorgore, he's a joke.
Vaelastrasz the Corrupt: This is a very intense DPS race. Vael applies Burning Adrenaline to the tank 45 seconds after you engage him. BA will kill you after fifteen seconds from the moment of application. He has 993k HP. You have 60 seconds to kill him before you die.
You must do a minimum of 16550 DPS to kill Vael.
Unfortunately, infinite RP, as nice as it is, isn't as great as infinite rage or energy. Still, this is very possible without raiding epics. For my DK's DW Frost gear set, it's mostly ilvl 346 gear. You'll need to pop every CD imaginable to push DPS as high as possible: Army of the Dead, Raise Dead, Flask of Titanic Strength, Golemblood Potion, Pillar of Frost, trinkets, Blood Tap every 30 seconds to give yourself another Death Rune for Obliterate, etc. I did it tonight and when Vael died Recount said I pulled 19898.5 DPS.
Supression room and Broodlord Lashlayer - Suppression aura is going to kill your rune regeneration, but the whelps have only 4-5k HP. You can kill off whelps with a single Decay and Death. The elite dragonkin and orcs die fairly easy for how slow your rune regen will be. If you're Frost, drop a Hungering Cold on whelps. Frost Fever alone may kill them and it buys time for runes to come back up. I cleared the last pack of whelps before Broodlord, got out of combat, and changed back to Blood to tank Broodlord. You may be able to zerg Broodlord as DPS, but even in tanking gear with an average ilvl of 349, his Mortal Strike was still hitting for 4k (pretty damn hard hit for a level 60 raid boss on a level 85 tank if you ask me). Tank him with your back against a corner on the gate he's protecting; he won't knock you back and you won't be in Suppression. Other than that, he's easy.
Firemaw - Clear the two trash pulls before him and tank him with your back to a corner. Be prepared to pop some CDs when your debuff stacks past 40; it'll start ticking for 5-6k at that point. Nothing terribly seriously as long as you keep Death Striking and using CDs right.
Ebonroc - His debuff that heals him for 25k per melee attack he lands isn't really as dangerous as you might think. Even in tanking gear I didn't have a problem outdpsing the healing. After the debuff fades, pop AMS when you can to buy more time to avoid another debuff.
Flamegor - Reduce his HP to zero. It could get a little sticky if you let him knock you back into the three pack of drakknoids before Chromaggus.
Chromaggus - Without a way to cleanse any of the debuffs other than Bronze, I wasn't able to zerg Chromaggus down in DPS gear before every debuff stacked up and he MC'd me; got him to 43% before it happened. If you're full epics, you MIGHT be able to solo him, but even then, you'd still have to get very lucky on timing your AMS to gain immunity to a debuff or two. Even then, you'd likely need full heroic raid gear. You'll need to bring a friend that can remove at least one debuff.
Nefarian - Obviously got stuck on Chromaggus, but I would imagine that the phase 1 adds die fast (they only have 12k HP iirc). Phase 3 zerg could probably be handled easily by popping Army and hit a few CDs because all those adds hitting you could add up. I can't see Nefarian being TOO hard.
Bummed out about Chromaggus, but was still loads of fun (and pretty decent gold, too). Soloing Vaelastrasz was so god damn exciting and exhilarating because you have to push DPS so damn hard to win; Blizzard needs to add a raid boss or two that's just an all-out slugfest like Vael.
How to Duo/Solo in Cataclysm:
Vaelastrasz has 3.331.000 health, so that equals to about 51k DPS if you want to kill him solo
Vael actually only has around 993K health, he starts at 30% health only.
To start the attunement quest you must first kill
inside Blackrock Mountain (he is NOT inside any of the instances).
which leads to the quest
Once you have the quest you can pretty much solo Upper Blackrock Spire, I did on an 81 Paladin.
You can skip most everything except the encounters that must be completed for certain doors/gates to open.
Such as you must clear the first room leading to UBRS to open the door that leads to the Pyroguard's chamber, then you must clear that room to get out of there as well.
From here you can skip all the way to the Blackrock Stadium which must be completed to open the gate allowing you access to the rest of the instance. Then you can go straight to
I went through this a couple of times recently with a couple of my guild memebers. We had a great time doing it which you can watch here
. The hunter in our group had tamed Chromaggus the week before, which got a lot of attention once we were back in Stormwind! With 2-3 lvl 85s this is a pretty quick way to grab some old school loot and a good amount of gold.
Duo'd with a resto/elemental shaman and a beasty/survival hunter. After getting past the first boss it was cake. I used Resto for the first boss to keep the hunter and her pet shale-spider alive. Pet was on aggressive for all of the first part and was just allowed to run wild agroing anything dumb enough to get in range. Earth Shield was maintained on hunter or pet, whichever was taking damage more.
Vael was just burned, I died at the end but popped reinc and all was okay. Other than that it was just a crazy mega burn for all bosses.
How hard is this raid at 85 with T11? I know it requires at least 3 people due to a mechanic at some point but is it still difficult?
im confused, when i go up to the orb of command it says "Normal dificulty mode is not avalible for Blackwing Lair." i have the attunement and everything but idk how to get in now....
Duoed This today as an 85 unholy DK in non-raid dps gear with an 85 enhancement Shaman also in non-raid dps gear. We were both inexperienced with BWL, but we did a full clear in a couple hours, and earned around 700g each. By far the hardest fight was the first one, the rest was pretty easy excluding of course having to hearth to Stormwind after the Chromaggus fight to have some random peeps dispel his horrible debuffs.
Razorgore: After wiping four times we settled on a fairly easy strategy. The shaman dropped stoneskin, flametongue, healing, and windfury totems and MC'd Razorgore below the platform under the orb. She then redropped totems each time she was about to loose control of Razorgore ( you could also /dance to break it) This avoids the debuff that puts a 60 cooldown on MC. It's important to note that she never used Razorgores flamestrike ability as to avoid unnecessary aggro; she just destroyed eggs. I would go back and forth between her and Razorgore dropping Death and Decays and blood boils to pull aggro off boss and her, and had my ghoul on aggressive. I popped an army in the middle of the fight to help gather some of the casters that were getting spread out. After the eggs were destroyed, the boss was an easy burn.
Vaelastrasz the Corrupt: He was far easier than we were expecting. Had him down in under 45 seconds. We just popped all cooldowns as they came up and didn't let up at all on dps. I don't know what happened at the end, but the shammy died with the boss.
Supression room and Broodlord Lashlayer: This was the most annoying part of the run as we had no way to shut off the supression traps. I just ran (very slowly) ahead dropping death and decay when I could and finished off all the trash right before Broodlord. We then ran past him with our backs to the gate and burned him down pretty quick.
Firemaw, Ebonroc, & Flamegor: I didn't even realize Firemaw was a boss at first, and pulled him with a group of mobs. I pulled the group to the corner by the ramp and and we easily burned him down. The other two dragons were easy as well, and I didn't even realize on Ebonroc that my pet accidentally had been in passive for the whole fight. We were still able to out dps his healing.
Chromaggus: We were expecting an awful time with this, but we ended up dowing him in about a minutes time. We had four of his nasty debuffs up for most of the fight, and I would just use an hourglass sand pretty much randomly through the fight. He went down way quicker than I was expecting, but left a horrible legacy with 33 stacks of his fire DoT. After he went down we hearthed to SW and some kind healers cleansed us.
Nefarian: Nefarian was another very easy fight. His deathgrips only affected the Shaman and not by much. A death and decay, spreading of diseases, and bloodboils along with the Shaman's AoE fire totem took down the adds quickly (I popped the army unnecessarily for kicks). When Nefarian dropped totems I didn't even notice. When he revived the adds as undead we used the same strategy as before and they wend down even faster. Then we just easily burned him down.
It was a fun run, and we only died on the first encounter (except the shammy, heh). Mind you, my gear score was only in the 330's and hers was 314. Recount had me at 9k dps and her at 5k dps for the run. I think this illustrates that even a couple inexperienced players with pretty crappy dps can still have an exciting and successful morning in BWL.
i gasped when i saw the gold drops on nefarion...... thats alot and enough for my hunt
Regularly "soloing" this with a random 60 from my 2nd account. If you don't have 2 accounts, get a random 60 from trade (or guild) that can use the gear (you might want to reserve the elementium ingots).
First boss is the only place where the 60 is needed, of course. I pull/kill the controller and 2 adds, then place the 60 under the orb hugging the wall and control the boss (it's pretty important not to place him on the platform since that's where the mobs go first). When adds start coming, I run around with my (ret) paladin spamming divine storm, and tabbing back to the 60 every 10 seconds to destroy the next egg. I rarely have problems with MC dropping before the debuff fades. I suppose the healing from divine storm is a godsend for this as it aggro's mobs from the other side of the room.
Second boss is easy as long as you can pull enough dps. The boss has 990k health but you get an infinite rage/energy/rp buff and another 100% damage buff shortly into the fight that kills you if you take too long. It helps to have the alt be able to rez you after the fight (yay Mass Resurrection).
Suppression room is annoying, I usually suicide my alt at the beginning and then mass rez him from after I kill the boss.
Next rooms are packed with mobs that drop elementium ingots, which can yield decent cash on AH. The dragons are quite easy except for the second one (Ebonroc), which places a debuff on you that heals the boss for a large amount every time you get hit. Avoidance is really nice here if you can get it, otherwise you would need pretty good dps to burn through the healing.
Chromaggus is really tough, especially for classes that can't cleanse. He regularly places one of 5 debuffs on you that last 10 minutes. Four are dispellable by normal means (poison, disease, magic and curse) and one is only removable with sands of time that drop from mobs in previous rooms (you would need like 10 of these). The debuffs themselves aren't that bad (healing reduction and periodic stuns are perhaps the most dangerous), but once you get all 5 you get mind controlled, effectively resetting the boss. The boss also has much higher health than the previous ones - 1.8M, and is pretty tough on selfhealing (at least for me, I need to bubble to reset disease stacks, LoH and use wog a lot).
Nefarian, on the other hand, is quite easy. After you talk to him on the throne adds start coming, and don't stop until you kill 42 of them. You can either hide the alt behind the throne so he won't die from shadow flame, or suicide him (I got mind controlled by adds once, the boss despawned and didn't come back until I ran out of the instance). Once adds are down nefarian is a joke (though might be annoying depending on your class call. It helps to keep the alt alive since he might eat some of the class calls. At 20% all adds from phase 1 revive as skeletons with low health, aoe them down, otherwise they don't hurt much.
Just did chromagus as blood DK in DPS PVP gear.
First try i got him to 300k as frost in DPS gear then i got MCed, bad timing with AMS. After that i went LBRS and killed some spiders there that drops
Immature venom sac
, with this i could cleanse green debuff witch helped with self heals and MC. After that it was easy fight. I used 4 Sacs and 6-7 Hourglass sands.
So if u are DK and want to solo Chromagus which is hardest boss to solo, not counting first one as its impossible to solo. U need to go LBRS and kill big spiders to loot Immature Venom Sac, this will help u to cleanse green debuff from boss, also have plenty of Hourglass sands which drops from mobs in instance. THat way you will never have more then 3 buffs on you, so he wont be able to MC u and reset fight.
I assume this can't be "solo'd" as a Hunter and a Druid. Duel client. Both 85.
This can be done with just a Hunter and a Feral Druid. I'm not sure how well it would work with any other druid aside from feral, as when my friend and I tried with him being resto it didn't go so well.
Once you get past Razorgore everything else is easy. However Razorgore likes to make people bash their heads against the wall if you don't do it right.
Here's what you do for the Razorgore fight:
1: Get set up. The hunter must have their pet dismissed because they will be controlling the orb. However you can not control the orb when you have a pet out as it does not auto dismiss your pet for you. The druid just needs to be ready to engage the mobs up above at the orb.
2: Have the feral druid engage the mobs, then have the hunter run in. Activate the orb from below the platform, by standing as close to it as possible. Take Razorgore and start from the back of the room opposite the orb and work your way to the sides then forward.
While the hunter is doing that the druid should be killing the adds that spawn. They hardly hit at all and a few swipes and mangles should take care of a good portion of them. The druid needs to watch out for two things however. 1- Mobs on the hunter. Each hit the hunter takes lowers the time they can be using Razorgore and if they get hit too many times then their debuff won't be gone when the spell breaks. 2- Razorgore and the mobs attacking him. He can be hit by the druid's attacks, and if he dies he'll blow up everything and you'll have to start over. Usually though picking up the mobs isn't a problem, just wait until Razorgore is moved to the next egg and get the mobs as they are chasing after him.
3: If all goes well the eggs should go down without a fuss. Once all eggs are down the adds will flee and Razorgore
should but might not
focus in on the hunter. The hunter should be on the top of his aggro list from controlling him. However sometimes we've had him aggro in on my druid buddy instead but still it's not an issue. Just burn him down.
4: Loot him quickly. There is a chance that if you sit there too long the instance glitches out a bit. It seems to slip back into phase 2 of the fight and the adds will begin spawning again and will not stop until either everyone is dead or the group zones out. They literally will not stop spawning. My friend and I spent 10 minutes at least of killing them and they were still coming around.
After that it's pretty easy.
For Vaelastrasz the Corrupt:
1: Have the druid tank him facing where Nefarian was when you entered the room. Then just go nuts. He goes down easy at lvl 85, with hardly a chance to do anything but a few melee swings.
For Broodlord Lashlayer:
1: Getting to him will be slow. It sucks but oh well.
2: Have the druid tank him with his back to the door. Lashlayer will knock you back and we know how that goes. Also right by the door is an area where you will not be effected by the slowing gas in the room. Other then that nothing special.
For Firemaw,Ebonroc,Flamegor, and Master Elemental Shaper Krixix:
1: Easy bosses. Burn them all and nothing will happen. Firemaw and Flamegor can be pulled separately, so no problems there.
1: If the hunter wants to tame him, now is the time. Remember though-
To tame exotic beasts the taming hunter must be at least lvl 69, in Beast Mastery spec with the final tier BM talent taken.
Otherwise you won't be able to do it.
2: Other then that not much is an issue. He goes down too fast for the debuffs he applies to be much of an issue save one. Brood Affliction Bronze (
). It can be very annoying and you can never know when he's going to put it up. However the cure for it is Hourglass Sand, which drops off the mobs leading up to him. If you are bothering to loot the mobs, by the time you make it up there you'll have plenty of it.
1: The first phase is easy. Kill the adds that spawn and wait for him to transform. Once he transforms the druid should try to tank him facing a wall. He will fear and mc, though the mc should stop when he transforms. Granted I've never seen him mc so you may make him shift before he can.
2: Eventually during this fight the hunter will become almost useless. Nefarian will do a class call, and some negative things will happen.
: Will be forced into 'cat form' It's not quite cat form as you should still be able to use your bear abilities but annoying none the less. You can't shift out of it either until the duration of your class specific call is up, and there is a chance he could call druids right after it again.
: He'll break your current bow. Either bring several backup bows and cringe at the repair bill later or just say screw it and go crazy with the traps and raptor strikes. (That being said, bm would be a good idea for this fight. The extra damage your pet does would offset your pathetic flailing that does next to nothing to him. XP)
3: Eventually he'll reanimate the adds. Easy to deal with, drop an explosive trap and they should be dead quickly .While you're dealing with the reanimated adds, Nefarian will probably end up dying. Easy peasy.
One thing to note on this fight though. There is a chance that the druid may drop to low health during a point where he's been chain cat-formed, so a tenacity pet would be a good idea to have during this fight. That way you can hopefully pull aggro onto the pet while the druid heals. That or a spirit beast to just keep Spirit mending the druid. Either way works.
Hopefully this works for you druid/hunter pairs who want to see BWL or get gear for Transmog!
note that if you have people who are not attuned you can use the ubrs entrance. it's right past the arena.
While this is still impossible to solo, this is very easy to 2 man for a Prot warrior with any other partner. Let me elaborate a bit.
If you spec prot, throw a few of your extra talents into Blood Craze. Have your partner MC Razorgore.
You will clean the adds off your partner, then off Razorgore. Avoid killing them.
Blood Craze will be up almost constantly. All adds will aggro onto you by default. Just watch where you stand. I prefer to stand about 41 yards away from the platform to force the caster adds to run to me and not AOE on my partner, however, you can also run in circles around the pillars if you prefer.
Keep the melee adds away from Razorgore. Even if they are aggro'd onto you, they will focus a very hard hitting move called
Aside from that, it should be a clean 2 man. Happy farming.
Edit: I wanted to throw in some more info. This is possible to solo for goblins and hunters using an exploit. I can't say I recommend it (it is, after all, an exploit), but if you wish to learn more there is a video on it
. (This is working as of this edit on Mach 22nd, 2012.)
I also wanted that pretty much any combo can 2 man Razorgore, but as a warrior I found this method very easy.
I also wanted to note that the best place to stand is
on the platform when you are MCing. A few days after I posted this I realized you could have your partner stand beneath the platform and click the orb, thus eliminating the mobs spawning, auto pathing to the orb, and AOEing before chasing you. This will give you far more time channeling.
As of 4.3, you can now enter BWL and
(after attunements) while not in a raid group. Although you still can not solo this place due to the first boss.
If you have a good friend, go into this instance, every week, loot the gold, farm the ores, and collect the cool weapons and armors.
Get the chill of killing one of the coolest bosses ingame, and for the love of god, do not let them whelps die! :( We can't have any more whelpling gloves made :(
I like the instance; too bad it's impossible to solokill the first boss.
Blackwing Lair does not give rep. towards any faction.
Strategy for one/two players from the
Solo/Duo Old Raid Compendium
, done at level 85 at patch 4.3 with ilvl 385-395 gear:
Blackwing Lair is
except for the first boss.
Razorgore the Untamed
The following strategy is for a duo--some specific classes can solo the encounter, but it is very very difficult.
In phase 1, one person must use an orb to MC him and destroy the eggs around the room (use his "Destroy Egg" ability). The other player must keep the adds off of Razorgore; if Razorgore dies in phase 1, he will wipe the raid. Adds will also attack the player controlling the orb, but these can be mostly ignored since only the first two hits against that player will reduce your MC channel time.
After a period of time, he will break MC and the controller will have to wait ~10 seconds before regaining control. At this point, it is imperative that no player damage is done to him, as it will significantly decrease his health. If both players are able to pick up adds, the other player can immediately pick up the MC and continue. If not, it can be helpful to run Razorgore to the other side of the room before his MC expires; that way he will spend the ~10 seconds of down time running across the room.
If you have a healer, Razorgore can be healed while MCed, which will help keep him alive in this phase.
After he destroys all the eggs, wait for him to regain full health and start phase 2, then burn him down.
All other bosses: Easy
Tricky because of his
Shadow of Ebonroc
debuff, in which he heals himself for 25k every time he does damage to a target. It is very difficult to dps through this at level 85 alone. Things that avoid damage such as dodge and kiting help, but absorption shields are easily the best antidote (a priest's Power Word: Shield or a Blood DK's mastery, for example). If you cannot absorb damage or kite him enough to avoid being damaged, you will likely have to bring another class.
Will put one of 5 Blood Afflictions on the target, and if all 5 are on you, you will become
and turn into a
. One of the Afflictions is to be removed with the Hourglass Sand that drops in the instance, the rest can be removed, as they are a Poison, Disease, Curse and Magic, respectively.
MELEE GUIDE TO BLACKWING LAIR
Razorgore the Untamed
Take a friend to control the boss and kill the eggs while you handle adds (or vice versa). Having a tank take care of adds is ideal. Keep the boss and adds as far apart as possible. If boss dies, so do you (except for when it's time to kill him).
Edit for lvl 90... it's now fairly easy for tanks to solo Razorgore.
NOTE: The rest of the raid instance IS now soloable!
Vaelastrasz the Corrupt
Easy solo kill.
To get to the next boss you need to move through two rooms of whelps. You'll have a debuff that slows you by 80%. Only rogues can activate the supressors. Just move through as fast as you can to the boss.
Easy solo kill.
Once you've killed the above boss, kill the trash immediately after his room and pick up 3 or 4
Hour Glass Sand
s. You will need them for a later boss.
Easy solo kill.
Easy solo kill.
He puts a debuff on you that heals him every time you deal damage. This can be brute forced. Provided you do decent crits you'll do damage faster than he can heal.
Edit for lvl 90... you probably won't need to use the Hour Glass Sands if you kill him fast enough.
Hour Glass Sand
you picked up earlier on your action bar somewhere and be ready to click it at a moment's notice. Make sure you have DBM addon so you'll be alerted when to click. Go in with full force and blow all cooldowns to burn him as fast as possible. When DBM alerts you to
Hour Glass Sand
to remove the debuff. You should only need to do this once or twice during the whole fight. Be quick or he'll charm you for 5 minutes.
A fairly easy tank and spank after a ton of adds come out. Make sure when Nef is about to die that you have enough health and a decent AOE ready as a million adds spawn when he dies.
Even though arcane / fire / frost / nature / shadow resistances are being phased out, resistance gear such as the Dark Iron set is still currently of use (as of patch 5.05) and is still resisting fire damage etc. within Blackwing Lair, at least for the moment.
No longer requires a raid, you can just click the orb and enter... soloing the content, well that is still not easy, at least not th first boss...
In case someone is wondering i just cleared BWL with my mage.
Razergore- I have solo'd this twice now as a Arms warrior, approx 300k hp, 20kdps and I could probably do it in any spec as warrior.
I mc razergore for the full duration the first time killing eggs closest to the orb and moving towards the full platform..
When the first cycle ends Ill quickly AOE most of what is around me and regain control of razore and continue killing eggs after about 10 seconds.
Now when razergore starts to pick up adds I will right click portrait and dismiss link, half the adds should htne drop razergore aggro you. Skill some more adds and pick up razer again. Repeat until done.
I will drop control of razergore 2-3 times to keep him alive. It come close but doable once you master your egg stomping skills.
Droping control when razor starts taking too much damage is the key.
a geared lvl 90 pally can solo this nowadays
For getting through the Suppression Room Solo:
The two packs in the room after Vael contain
that will "punt" you. I was able to line myself up and get punted onto the next floor (which would be the start of the suppression room). I was then able to adjust my position for when they chased me up there and get punted into the area right next to Broodlord at the end of the Suppression room.
If you miss on the first attempt, be patient, they do not use this ability constantly. Line it up, stay alive, be patient. Taking a minute or so to do this will save you the slog through the suppression room.
Please note, you will face a train of many mobs from the suppression room, including the punters.
I am playing a level 90 Ret pally (iLvl 414) and this massive pack, plus Broodlord, gave me little issue.
old raid logic you disable the supression devices you still get the debuff
Blackwing Lair's first boss; Razorgore, is now solo-able by any class as of MoP, albeit it requires an item.
the Terracotta Fragment
summons a very tanky mob that will run around and attack enemies and gather agro from you and your pet...which in this case is razorgore when your controlling him.
the terracotta fragment comes from a rare Jonn-Dar (a rare elite in Valley of the Four Winds).
be sure that if your a hunter, lock,dk,mage, or any other class that has a permanent pet to dismiss it or clicking the control orb will do nothing.
It seems that any class can disable the Suppression Devices now. I'm not sure when this change was made, but it used to require a Rogue to be able to do it. Rogues can do it from about 10-15 yards where my Hunter has to be about 5 yards.
I suppose you could completely skip the suppression room entirely by using the method I found in this video:
Note that you can't kill first boss with a friend and then each finish the raid separately.
You're both stuck in the same lock-out.
This raid is quite annoying to get to, as two of the bosses in Blacking Spire have very slow mechanics. BWL is hard to do if your a level 55 being ran through, as the first and second bosses are tough. Getting up to the second boss is especially difficult if you don't know what you are doing..
Razorgore The Untamed is soloable for a 90 now, even without the use of pets, guardians, and npcs etc helping you with mobs. I just managed this on my 90 Prot. Pally.
What you do is just
KEEP ON MC'ING RAZORGORE UNTIL ALL EGGS ARE DOWN
. Forget about killing any mobs at all in between MCs, and you hopefully shouldn't need to heal yourself either. Just jump straight back on the orb after MC fades, and repeat until Razorgore has killed all the eggs, at which point all of the mobs will run out of the room without needing to be killed. I did not have anything killing mobs on Razorgore or myself.
At one point the MC orb became hard to see and therefore use, with so many mobs attacking the character, at which point i jumped off the front of the platform and ran round the side back to the orb. It was then easily visible and ready for use again after the mobs followed me.
Using this method i didn't drop below 500k health even with all of the mobs constantly attacking character (started off with 569k health) and they didn't manage to bring Razorgore down below about 40% health either while constantly attacking him too.
Happy hunting! :D
Solo'ed as a lvl85 Shadow priest avg ilevel 367. Really cool raid and only the second one I have done besides MC. The bosses are hard and require some thought and a touch of luck just like it should be.
The first and second bosses are the hardest to do solo and I wiped many a time on those two. The first boss you may get wiped as a loner a few times but may eventually catch a bit of luck where when you are in control and breaking the eggs you don't attract too much aggro, enough to last the distance. The key is to move smartly and move fast. You have to be focused and keep an eye on bosses health. I don't know if it helped with speed but I jumped a lot between the eggs and tried to stay moving as much as possible. Forget the adds attacking you, don't waste time on them or use any other razorgore ability except break egg. You will need at least two turns with control of razorgore.. I didnt waste any time in between the controls to kill the adds.. A quick AOE like mind sear to kill about half that were crowding me, shield up and regain control (I didnt even waste time healing) ..basically if razorgore gets to you while you are killing adds the fight becomes much harder and razorgore keeps loosing health because adds are attacking him as well. You will know what happens when he dies :D. Make sure you take him to opposite side of the room when you are about to lose control over him and do not let him get back all the way to you on the other platform before you regain control! Its doable so dont lose hope Finally managed the eggs and beat the crap out of all the adds by AOE. Razorgore is an easy fight too at lvl85, and thought my problems were over...
No , then I met vaelastrasz the corrupt. On this alone I must have wiped 15-20 times before I thought to do research on boss abilities :). Even once I knew what to do I couldn't output enough DPS before wiping. Although your spells become instant cast the ones with CD still require waiting. For casters you need to be smart with rotation to maximize your output. I kept some DOt's on him but once the mana burn debuff is on, pick one instant damager and spam it until your rmore damaging spells CD is done because time is a factor same as first boss (I used mind spike spam when AB debuff was on). SW: Death helped and it was a still a close thing in the end..Of course I still died just at the moment of killing him and so will you :) unless you lvl 90 or something and can finish the fight in 15 seconds. Ended up buying Flask of the warm sun to supplement my intellect and then on second try I killed him. You will need these food/elixier buffs at lvl85 and below I think unless you have bis equipment and enchants etc..
Rest of bosses/trash are easy up to Chromaggus and only thing mentioning for casters/priests is that when going through the rooms the spell binders cant be cast at so you will need to melee them. kill the warlocks in groups first(they create portals for draknoids to come through..at least thats how it seemed to me), then the little bomb throwing engineers (aoe them) then the drakanoids or whatever they are called and lastly melee the spell binders without other distractions. Other classes may have other preferences. The halls with the suppression traps.. I just walked through..albeit very slowly collected the trash along the way with shield up and aoe'd them at the end..didn't bother stopping and killing. Tried to avoid the casters and dragonkin if I could.
Chromaggus is tricky..You would have collected this dust that dispels bronze de-buff. Put it on your action bar as you will need it in a hurry. The other debuff I could dispel was the magic one as a caster. Make sure he doesnt put all 5 de-buffs on you because that will turn you into a draknoid and put Chromaggus back to full health plus waste 5 mins of your life while the de-buff wears off. Suggested elsewhere you can get immature venom sacks from UBRS to dispel the green debuff. Key is to be prepared with atleast one of your own dispel method and the dust for bronze debuff you will collect anyway, then just keep dps'ing him into submission. The debuffs is what make the encounter tricky.
Nefarion himself was a piece of cake compared with these. You may need maste mana potion as sometimes the sheer quantity of enemies will drain your mana down to nothing.
Hope ths helps priests and casters wanting to solo this raid and it is well worth doing, its a lot of fun though frustrating at times.
All bosses are relatively easy to kill, except the first boss, Razorgore.
How I solo'd Razorgore on level 90 mage (I relied on Rune of Power talent):
1. Before killing anyone, take control of orb and kill eggs on platform where Razorgore starts out.
2. Dismiss Razorgore.
3. Kill as many adds as you can before Razorgore reaches platform.
4. Drop Rune of Power (HoT for 60 seconds). This causes adds to damage you, instead of Razorgore, but the damage you take is insignificant.
5. Kill eggs, starting on far side of room and working towards orb.
6. When Razorgore gets to 1/2 health, dismiss him, kill adds, then drop Rune of Power again.
7. When eggs are gone, finish off Razorgore (easy).
Where is the entrance to the raid and how do I get there in Blackrock spire?
I can't finish off the first boss ... I never have enough time to kill all the eggs . I'm soloing as a 90 enhance shammy since I have no clue how to raid with 40 people ... I can kill quite a bit of eggs but, then he dies and so do I how can I do this alone any tips please? I just really wanna get the shoulders for Tmog .
aften doing this dungeon, how long time will i take to generate? :)
Solo'd this very easily as a lvl 90 shadow priest, ilvl 529. The only hard one was Razorgore because of the egg breaking mechanics. After that, very easy. Didn't even need to use the powders for the coloured afflictions or mess around with the suppression rooms.
Since the 6.0.2 patch we are required to be level 100 to go through UBRS but blizz has made the attunement orb able to be used by anyone even if you haven't done the attunement quest. Try not to die though because I haven't been able to find a way back in since the orb isn't there in ghost form and your body isn't in the UBRS instance.
Know someone where is entrance in new pre-patch?Because entrance is only for lvl 100
Hi Guys, can some one tell me where i can find the netrance to get to blackwing lair in patch 6.0? im trying to get the T2 and i only need the shoulders but as UBRS is now revamp i cant find my way to the entrance of the Raid.
Since the 6.0 pre-launch, UBRS is only accessible if you are lvl 100. Which makes the attunement quest impossible to complete. Don't bother with it! Blizzard put out a hot fix so that you don't need the attunement anymore to use the orb. So here is what you do to get into BWL.
1- Go to Blackrock Mountain
2- Once you are in the molten span, fly to coords (63.0, 44.5).
-This is a small balcony you need to land on.
3- Go through the small door on the balcony and turn right.
-you will see a hallway that curves to the right and has lvl 55 sentries (Not Elites) standing around.
4- Go down the hallway to coords (64, 71).
-This location is a dead end room with the orb.
5- Click the Orb.
Welcome to Blackwing Lair.
On another note. If you die in the instance, your spirit will pop up by the balcony. Just run down the hallway to the room where the orb was and run into the wall on the other side of the room. You will not see the instance portal there, but it will take you back into BWL.
I tested this today and it works!
I hope that this is informative and helpful. This is my first post ever and I wanted a nice step by step for new and veteran players alike. Please feel free to give your advise on how I can make my posts better, or correct things I may have gotten wrong. Don't forget to up vote this if you like it. Thank you.
I just soloed this. When you are lvl 100 its very primitive. Only kill eggs with num 4 and put dragons attacking you to sleep with num 4. Dont forget to reconnect to boss by clicking the orb. After killing eggs just nuke him. The rest of this instance will be even more easy for you. Good Luck guys
Easily soloable at level 100 as a Warrior. ilvl 640 but that's probably irrelevant as I didn't take any high damage and dont need insane dps for this.
For the first boss, I started with the eggs in the back where you start control, and moved forward.
Put the dragonkin to sleep but didn't bother with any other adds. They shouldn't be able to get you lower than 25% if you move promptly on the eggs.
When all adds are gone, do not engage him immediately after losing control. MAKE SURE
ENGAGES YOU. OR YOU WILL WIPE (too many people will find this out the hard way)
Move through the rest of the raid as normal.
Didn't get any good loot though :(
Halls of Strife - Let's talk about them. Annoying pesky little dragons that will chew up whatever level 60 you're running through here. Take your max level toon and AGGRO ALL OF THEM. Aoe them down and wala, no more spawns. Then your 60ish friend can take their leisurely time going through them. (Similar in nature to the core hounds of MC.)
soloed first boss at lev 82 with my tank Paladin - for fun and some disenchant mats. First time here. Did not read all the posts but this is how i did it.
1- go into instance kill the 3 dudes by the orb
2- click on the orb and it will let you control the dragon boss
3- use him to destroy eggs - note (make sure you destroy all of the eggs)
4- I didn't worry about killing anything till I got all the eggs. I let the mobs whack on me at the orb. 5- Just click on the orb to channel dragon boss- took about 3-4 times of channeling to get all the eggs.
6- Then the mob goes out the gate and your left fighting the boss.
7- Kill him and he opens the gate so you can move on.
For anyone having problems with this battle...
- Do NOT use any attack/sleep spell on adds while MC the boss, only break eggs
- When you have a dragonkin or two on you, walk boss far away from you
- Cancel the mind control and AOE adds.. wait a second or two when you see everyone running towards you
- Pick up the boss with MC again
Worked for me, boss was at 40% by the end. Work the eggs from the back to the front. Good luck, hope it helps and RNG gods are nice!
They changed the parameters. No longer needs attunement. Go into black rock, check the map. Follow the design of the spire. The orb of command activates instantly.
Why the mobs keeps attacking boss even when I do not control the orb?
okay not sure what I'm doing wrong, I'm lvl 100 pally, not quite high armor yet. but each time I try this, I use the boss guy to kill all the eggs. takes me three times each time I've tried. But each time, the third time, I go to click the orb but something high power hits the mob and kills them all including me, even though I've not taken any damage at all up till that point. but I can't survive the final hit. arg! I want this achievement! lol help?
Blackwing Lair Entrance:
I am trying this for the first time in 6.1 and just to warn people before they get frustrated to the point of violence, this is not even remotely soloable without a pet. I have tried the suggestions of every comment here and the youtube vidoes, and things DO NOT work that way any more. The adds will attack Razorgore, not you (well, you too, but mostly him). If you un-MC him (or wait until it expires) and "pop an AOE" as everyone suggests, you WILL KILL Razorgore as well, and die. You cannot aggro the mobs away from Razorgore, because you will aggro him as well and he will just follow you around. So just save yourself some grief and take a friend or use a toon with a pet.
Just need to second the last post here.
I just soloed the firs boss easily. I am a Rogue, so no pet or anything to helped me. This on the live Patch now. (6.1.2)
Remember to sleep all Death Talon Dragonspawn that’s spawns.
soloed twice as a paladin first boss was easy using protection spec with all aggro buffs on. just mced boss and when he starts getting attacked clicked the orb while still mcing him and for some reason i aggroed everything currently spawned. haven't tried as ret or any other class and don't know if its a bug either. done in 6.1.2
Stop those bloody annoying spamming adds that just interrupt my game fun when im in a raid or just playing . i dont mind adds but the voice spam is pissing me off
Today I did solo the first boss. Like many others in here also I was reading this and that, but at the end - you should try it by yourself anyhow. Just to make sure that I didn't draw the lucky card I did it with two different characters, both level 100. First I did it with my lock without a pet. I used the orb staying on the ground under the orb at the max possible distance (this is attracting more adds on the character), without to kill the guards nearby it and started to destroy eggs. The mobs which are attacking my character cannot do anything to him, just minor scratches. When the MC was finished I just reactivated it and during the third MC I was able to destroy all eggs having the boss HP almost emptied.
After I did it with my druid who is guardian and the number of mobs staying on his back doesnt matter. The fight started the same as the lock fight. During this fight I was not that well organized destroying eggs and while running like headless chicken, the boss was killed. On the second attempt when the HP of the boss started to vanish too fast just before the MC finished I brought him almost at his starting position. When MC finished he started to run towards me and while running he was healed (I dont know by who) and most of the mobs around him are aggroing me. This was more than enough after MC to destroy the remaining eggs.
This is how it works for me ! :)
i flied to nefarian's lair without entering the instance and I found a heroic raid portal in there I tried to enter it but It said instance not found
The big secret to soloing the first boss is when you are controlling him make sure you are facing the mobs attacking you. This will lessen the damage they can do to him and buy you more time.
Start where he starts, kill eggs with the first skill on his toolbar. As you move through occasionally click his portrait below yours, kill the mobs around you FAST and that will draw his mobs away. Click the orb and continue.
Best of luck!
Did this today, soloed as a Lvl 100 Blood DK. Destroy eggs until a few adds are on you then take off the MC let the boss run in as close as possible until the you know the adds will attack you and continue to burn the eggs. I started destroying the eggs where you begin the MC.
Took a few tries but acted quickly. Good luck and have fun!
Just soloed on my Destro Warlock (ilvl 706). Here is my strategy that left Razorgore with 100% health when it was time to kill him. It is a strategy that has been discussed before, just reaffirming its effectiveness post patch 6.2.3.
EDIT: Updated to include info* I realized I should have included, since doing my recent runs tonight. I had him not drop loot on my Hunter cause she burned him down too fast. The soft-reset enabled me to kill him again and get loot from that kill.
1. Kill the 3 mobs at the Orb.
2. Get down on floor in front of Orb and walk out max distance from click range.
3. Click Orb to take control of Razorgore.
4. Destroy some eggs at Orb end of room until add spawn timer gets down to 10 seconds or so.
5. Move Razorgore to the top of the platform where the Orb is located & back him up into the wall straight behind the Orb.
*6. Turn your camera view back around so that you can see the Orb and the adds spawning.
7. Wait for all the adds to spawn. Due to your placement, they will all aggro on you.
8. Keep redoing the Orb channel until all the adds have spawned.
9. Once all the adds are aggroed on your character, you are free to move about and destroy the eggs unhindered.
10. Once last egg is destroyed, kill Razorgore.
*11. Be sure not to burn Razorgore down too fast or he will glitch out and not drop loot. If that happens you can do a soft-reset of the instance and go back in and kill him again. To do a soft-reset, exit instance and everyone must stay out of it for at least 30 minutes (
little longer wouldn't hurt
My lvl 61 alt was in the party so she could get gear but obviously was not able to help, lol
Note: DBM was used for add spawn timer.
Blackwing Lair entrance
One of the most fun and challenging raid still in 2016.
Blackwing Lair Entrance
Running Blackwing Lair has become a routine for me because it is one of the vanilla dungeons/raids left untouched by Cataclysm level scaling and subsequent item removal.
Blackwing Lair is the only way to get most dragonscales anymore, especially
, which some choose to make some nice transmog items with. This scarcity of scales is because Upper Blackrock Spire's black dragons were removed, and most remaining dragons in Azeroth have had their levels altered so that they no can longer drop scales adequately.
The pets in this raid are also good for collecting, pet battles, and selling.
Lastly, Nefarian drops some incredible recipes, and not too uncommonly either. I have had a huge variety of these loot-list items drop, and they are even more difficult to come by in the world anymore because of aforementioned level scaling. He can also drop
, which have upped in value since they became a toy.
Here is a list of recipes he has personally dropped
once for me:
*** from mobs in BWL
*** This is arguably the least valuable, most common plan Nefarian drops
公式：附魔手套 - 骑术
*** A guildie friend found this from him
The biggest issue I've seen people have is getting past the first boss. It definitely is a strategy one needs to get accustomed to. Here are my tips for soloing:
1.) Grab the orb to start, take out all the eggs and make your way slowly to your character
2.) When you get a dragonkin on you, lull it to sleep with spell "5"
3.) Let go of the boss with escape or the red arrow and AoE the mobs around you. And depending on your character, throw a HoT on yourself. That will help aggro stay on you
4.) Don't let go of Razorgore near the end. The aggro shift won't do much after you've gotten to a certain point
attack him until he heals himself. If you do, he will reset and kill everybody.
I hope this helps. Good luck farming!
thx that was very helpful been flying around here for a while
is soloable at Lv.110 Paladin, as can be seen here -
it takes a bit of practice to get
There is a shortcut closed by bars. Does anyone know how can I open them? Goodbye and thanks.
EASIEST RAZORGORE OF YOUR LIFE:
Kill the first 3 adds, stand where they stood facing the room. Start stomping eggs with Razorgore.
Whenever adds spawn, target Razorgore, right-click and dismiss him; this will 100% guarantee all the adds to aggro you instead.
Wait a second to make sure adds target you, and control again. Repeat.
Doesn't matter what side of the room you start killing the eggs from.
If you hate how slow it is going through the Hatchery where the Suppression Devices are, here's a tip:
After killing Vaelastrasz, enter the next room with the two Death Talon mobs and aggro them all, but do not kill them. (You only need the Death Talon Flamescales if you can't handle them all hitting you.) Run towards the half wall the opens into the room above. They will chase you and the Death Talon Flamescales will Berserker Charge and fling you into the air. If you time it right, by continuously running, it will throw you up over the ledge and into the next room. Then you make your way towards the next half wall to the left and do the same thing. The same mob will throw you into the upper room, bypassing most of the Suppression Devices, landing you near Broodlord Lashlayer. Throw down an AOE (if you can), because the Flamescales will keep charging you and may fling you around the room.
Use the aggroed Death Talon Flamescales to fling you over the two half walls with their Berserk Charges to bypass the Suppression Devices.
Razorgore seems to be bugged, when you lose control the mobs keep attacking him so soloing just became a pain the arse. Even mobs that come after are suddenly attacking him while he isnt being controlled so carefully single targeting the ads becomes never ending. Noticed after 7.2 and im curious to if anyone else is having this issue.
For druids trying to get through the hatchery, shapeshifting constantly (each GCD) frees you from its slow, so you can just run through at normal speed, basically.
I attacked Razorgore and died then when I respawned the gate was locked. I left the raid and not I can't enter because it says an encounter is in progress.
loot list does not have the
in it. It is dropped by Death Talon Wyrmguards
. However, this item
listed as being in BWL on the item's page.
Razorgore's destroy egg ability is now an instant cast.
I don't even know how to feel about that.
(though it is great to clear all the eggs in a single control.)
So easy to solo now .. not that it wasn't before, but Razorgore the Untamed could make things a bit difficult for you if you didn't have the right placement to start.
Now -- his ability to destroy his eggs is instant .. and you can get them just about all down before the adds begin :-) come in, kill the initial adds, possess him and go to town.
It's possible to skip 99% of the hatchery if you're soloing. Don't kill the mobs on the floor below, bring them up with you. Position yourself with your back to the ledge that goes to the upper half of the hatchery and let the mobs punt you up the edge. The mobs will take the long way around.
If you want to farm for transmog a fast way to get there is first do the new Pet Battle Dungeon in BRD. If you complete that succesfully you can talk to Horde
to get you in front of the entrance of BRD. From there you can just walk back and then fly up to the entrance.
All your alts have also access to this teleport.
Hunters: There seems to be a bug, and you can't use the Orb of Domination while pets are out. Dismiss them, then you are good to go.
Well #$%^ now my level 69 warlock that i was running thru with a big toon to help farm for the tier set before the level squish, now he's level 27 and too little to even get in. Now I have to get him to level 30 just to get in. argh...
Not seen it mentioned previously but running through it today there was
no suppression effect
at all in the
Halls of Strife
This was on a feral druid unstealthed and also two hunters. Seems they disabled it now so just run through, no need for tricks etc.
