The questchain starts at Anchorite Ceyla for the Aldor, at Altar of Sha'tar, and at Arcanist Thelis for Scryers, at the Sanctum of the Stars.
for Scryers. Just follow the chain: the comments will guide you to the follow ups until you have to go to A'dal for your final reward... or so you think.
I believe, yes, believe, for I am no member of any guild that is farther in any raid instance than Gruul, you will have to venture into Serpentshrine cavern to find a Seer called Olum, who will direct back you to Akama. You can only speak to him if you wear the provided Ashtongue Cowl. Akama will then order you to retrieve the Time-Phased Phylactery from Rage Winterchill, a boss in CoT - Hyjal Summit. Then you will have to go to A'dal, who in turn will send you to Xi'ri, who will create a distraction for Akama so that he and Maiev can venture into the Black Temple.... with you as an escort (as if they need it...).
From now on, only Nihilum, Forte and Curse will have a chance of completing this chain *winks* You need to kill the Shade of Akama, the part of Akama that binds him to Illidan. And finally, slay Illidan.
Congratulations! You are officially done with the game until next patch, and can spend some time in real life now.
Now again, notice that I'm not sure this is the actual chain exactly correctly *winks*.
I didnt even know that players got into Hyjal summit when i heard about this a while back, so i tihnk that nihilum must be some of the most dedicated/organized players on wow to actually to actually complete the attunement for it so quickly, GZ to Kungen, guild leader of nihilum
Does anybody think that when Wotlk comes out you will av to kill illidan as part of the attunement quest for Icecrown citadel to face Arthas?
It really won't be a "lore disaster". I mean, when/if they make Warcraft 4, they'll probably just sidestep WoW completely.
Hell, Illidan may have actually died to Arthas on Icecrown in WC3, just arriving in WoW because Blizzard thought he'd make a good boss.
Unless someone can point it out to me where Blizzard said that WoW would have an effect on future lore, I'm pretty sure anything in WoW is non-canon.
arthas is ~as powerful as illidan, illidan is not as powerful as 25 level 70's though (because we kill him), which means the lich king, while leaps and bounds more powerful than 25 level 70's, may not be so for 25 level 80's.
Meet your Makers, formerly Curse (Veknilash-EU), had an overall video to BT released on 2007-08-29.
It includes all 9 Encounters and 5 different Points of View.
This may be the hardest instance in the game but it's still my favorite instance in all the game ,it would have made a great neutral capital
Neat little easter egg, you can see the planet azeroth is on from this instance.
Attunement lifted in patch 2.4.
"Players will no longer require an attunement quest to enter the Black Temple.
Players who have completed the attunement quests for Black Temple and Hyjal will be granted the title of “Hand of A’dal”.
While I recomend 25 full tier 6 people all that is really needed is a verry well Tiered Prot warrior a nd a few well geared healers the dps while they should have good armor does not have to have the best of the best and could only have armor from heroic instances done previously. My raid downed illidan while I was still using a green off hand dagger. Although I was happy when I got the main hand blade of azzeroth. It will take a bit longer but iff you have good tanks and heals it should not be to hard.
Anyone know an approximate amount of rep you get for a full clear?
I'm just curious, about how long does it take to do this instance from start to finish
what would be req stats for dps to go?
what stats must a rogue have to go and finish black temple with a raid?i mean how much hp ,crit chance, atack power etc etc.
pls answer me.and give me + rating
Attunement is no longer required (2.4.0+), if you don't have gear from BT, and/or other pre-2.4.0 lvl70 instances you will have much harder time taking on MT and SP.
is there a wait time to do this instance after you already did it, and also what kind of gear do you need for it?
Rather strange how the Black Temple (formerly known as the Black Citadel whilst under control of Magtheridon) was in Hellfire Peninsula and was moved for unknown reasons to Shadowmoon Valley.
Black Citadel & Temple
After the attunment you get a neck that lets you enter. When you kill illidan you'll get a new neck that teleports you to BT!
Lol...i looove BT but the problem is...I play on fun server..and every time i want to go in BT horde kills me..All right. :) On original its easyer to get into it...lol I love illidan very much, and i think hes great..but can he explain me why does he listen a Kel'Thas wtf? :))))))))) lol...I dont know...I dont like ninjas very much...And Master looters too...I was in raid 1time when in the end of BT, wher we had illidan with 1%..leader turns on Master Loot...And he took all illidans items...I cant belive thwt we were soooooo stupid and that we belived him....lol...Oh i forgot to tell u..Im nina from serbia..Im a girl... KIss for everyone hwo read my looong looong comment lol :))) Love xxx Nina
If you don't know every tactics for every boss you "wipe"
How do you go through the pipe to supremus. I am stealthing through with my rogue and theres alot of poles in my way.
Didnt Arthas kill Illidan in WC3? I mean he gutted him -.- Its cool he's alive but can someone answer me?
What is the status of BT now with the WOTLK? Has blizzard retuned it, or have they made it a 10man raid? Just curious, thinking of sending in a group of 10 80s in the near future.

PART 2: BLACK TEMPLE (THE EXCITING AND DYNAMIC FIRST HALF)
Black temple is the home of Illidan, he is in a guild called <The Betrayer>, You cannot enter in the front gate, because its locked, so instead you must enter through the sewer, which is gross. While waiting for your raid to form, you can play the exciting game of repeadlley aggroing doomwalker on a flying mount, causing him to yell at the entire zone. The lvl 68's nearby will either threaten to repeort for for spamming in general chat or send you wispers asking to join your doomwalker raid, both should provide suitable entertainment while you wait for people to hearth and come back because they fergot their SR neck. okay Now that everyone is here prepare for the first Boss:
The Trash pack In Najentus' Room(you know the one):
Although not technically a "boss" by conventional gaming standards, this pull is far harder then the three lootbags that follow it, requiring raid coordination, strong healing, and actual Skill from the Tanks, needless to say it is exciting and dynamic. Possibly collect your epics or lvl 67 greens of spirit, and prepare to face:
High Warlord Najentus:
This guy was a high warlord Pre BC, that means he smells incredibly bad from grinding BG's 19 hours a day, as a result he now lives in the sewer. He also has a seashell for an arm. I think You can Draw your own conclusions. Whats most exciting and dynamic about this encounter is listening to it on vent when you arent in the raid, in no time "THROWIT-THROWIT-THROWIT-THROWIT-THROWIT-THROWIT-THROWIT-THROWIT" will be a word in your vocabulary, look foward to that. Collect your purps and head over to:
One of the truths that trancend WOW raiding across many dungeons of all types and sizes is: Dont Stand in the Fire. With this encounter, blizzard has introduced a new twist to the classic fire, with an alluring Blue tint thats sure to entrance even your most hardened veteran raider. I Also read this fight has phases. Resist the beautyful glow for about 6 minutes, collect your loot and make your way over to the next jok...err boss:
Shade Of Akama:
If you diddnt know, I play a fury warrior, and as a result i have no clue what the strategy for this boss is. As far as im concerned its hit the small guys until they go away then hit the big guy, This seems to work well for me. If you dont play a melee DPS class you might have to try here, but I doubt it. Collect your epics and get ready for:
The key to this fight is prayer. Before attempting this boss, everyone in the raid take a 15 minute break to adress their diety of choice. Their request is simple: Please dont let THAT GUY get Marked for Death. if everyone prayed hard, this fight should be extremeley easy, everyone goes about their merry way hitting things, healing things, killing ghosts, and collecting loots. However if your raid diddnt pray hard enough THAT GUY will get marked for death, possibly followed by THAT OTHER GUY, causing a whole bunch of skeletons to run into the raid and 23 people to groan loudly on vent, this simply means you diddnt try hard enough with your prayer, human sacrafice is also an option. Once your bloodthirsty gods have had their fill of human hearts, you can collect your elemental shaman totem and thrown weapon (YOU DISERVE IT!).
Keep Your Eyes peeled for the 3rd and FINAL Installment.
PART 3: BLACK TEMPLE (THE STUNNING CONCLUSION)
If your bad guild has made it this far, you may be on the verge of moving from being one of the better bad guilds to being one of the worse mediocre guilds. This accomplishment is not to be taken lightly, celebrate your achivements! but dont get too #$%^y, as many exciting and dynamic challenges await!
You are in a Guild. In your Guild There are Shamans. In your Shamans' Spellbook There is a Button. This Button is called Brain Heal. In ye olde timey days of yore, healers in MMO's had to engage in the laborious task of selecting the targets they wished to heal. But those days are over thanks to the stunning healing technology available to every shaman in the form of Brain Heal (It does the thinking for you!). Employ the Brain Heal and recive epics from this boss. Another fun thing about this encounter is that you get to use amplify magic, I dont know exactly what is fun about that, but I always like having amplify magic, its like a little white hand waving hi to you for the entire encounter. Perhaps I am losing my mind(although these are no longer necessary for raiding thanks to brain heal).
Reliquary Of Souls:
Things that Will Wipe you on Reliquary of Souls(100% true wipes):

2) Fatfingered Kick
3) Left Healthstone in My Other Bag
4) Shadow Word Death Crit
5) Vent Arguement Over which face Essence OF Souls Poops From
6) Not enough RAAAAAAGGGEEEE to Spell Reflect
7) Shadow Word Death Crit
Phase 1 of this fight is 2-3 weeks long and involves farming trash for heart of darknesses.
Phase 2 of this fight is 1 week long and involves attuning a leatherworker to Black temple so that you can craft leather Shadow Resist Gear
Phase 3 of this Fight has been Intentionally Left Blank
Phase 4 of this fight requires players to equip their shadow resist gear and turn their spell detail level all the way down
Phase 5: ?
Phase 6: Profit
INTERMISSION FOR THE WORST DESIGNED TRASH MOB EVER: 1-SHOT the ROBOT
All thoughout your World Of Warcraft Raiding Career, you have been preparing for this fight, From Magmadar to Magtheredon, Ragnaros to Rage Winterchill, you have learned not to stand in bad things. Well My friends its time for all that experence to pay off because Illidari council is the SUPER BOWL OF NOT STANDING IN THINGS! this fight has So many things not to stand in including: Concencrate, Blizzard, Flamestrike, the general area around the mage guy and much much more. The other amazing thing about this fight is that whenever someone dies no matter how early or late or how preventable or unavoidable their death, that person is 100% guranteed to claim that their healthstone was on cooldown. Cherish these moments folks, you only live once.
stay tuned for part 4 the REAL REAL STUNNING CONCLUSION: ILLIDAN THE BETRAYER
BT is the best raid ever :<
Does every member of a raid need to be attuned to gain entry to the temple, or do only a few need to be attuned?
The opposite of the Pink Temple and Skull of Barbie.
as of WOTLK do u still need to do the quests? even at 80?
if so LAME!
can i see a screenshort of the Azeroth from space Easter Egg?
Can Black Temple be 10-manned with level 80's? And if so, how many tank, heals would you need?
You didnt include Illidan so I'm pasteing it here:
Well congratulations baddies, you are just 1 step away from the end of the pve raiding line. This ones for all the marbles and after its all over, you will have walked away with the privlage of saying "I, have SLAIN Illidan" Your WoW forum trolling potental will be heightened considerably, your epeen will be legthened likewise, and may also experence some increased girth. Now that i have piqued your interest heres how you do it:
First Impressions: Illidan is Tiny
For the Boss of the whole goddam game, Illidan is really freaking small, this is GAURANTEED to be your official first impression. Your secoond impression will be that illidan dosent care that you /dance or /train at him. Once Illidan starts his speech, you will have your third impression.....actually let me stop myself here, you are probally expecting me to make some wisecrack regarding your level of preparedness for this encounter, I wont engage in such petty tomfoolery, instead let me state for the record that your duplicity....is hardly suprising.
Phase 1: Chillin with Illin
The Fight Will Start and You Will notice one thing quickly: He hits HARD. Use your phase 1 attempts to get the sheer joy of wiping to runaway parasitic infection out of your system. If you are melee DPS on this fight you will quickly observe that Illidan jumps really high, but fear not, as hitting the air where his body just was does the same amount of damage as hitting illidan himself. Once your Mages l2frost nova and your tank l2sheild block, its time for:
Phase 2: Dinner is Served.
Chef Illidan has prepared a special meal for your raid: The Flames of azzinoth, and he encourages you to have a taste, but I would personally advise against it unless you are wearing full FR gear. Fans of bright colors will ejoy this phase: featuring Neon Green Fire, neon Blue Lazers, and Neon Blue Fire behind the Neon Blue lazers! As per WoW Raiding rule 47.2(b) You still Shouldnt stand in the fire. This phase is also where your warlock tank reveals he fergot to equip his Shadow Res Gear.
Phase 3: Like Phase 1 But Different!
Phase 3 Is an exciting and dynamic phase that is exactly the same as phase 1 except for something called agonozing flames. In order to not get agonizing flames you have to spread out. As a result your raid leader will spend phase three yelling on vent "SPREAD OUT" and "HEY SPREAD THE !#!% OUT" Eventually Illidan will get tired of his incessant whining and decide to start Phase 4:
Phase 4: Our Warlock Tank is French Canadian
Phase 4 is where Illidan gets Huge, everyone runs away from him, then you hope that you dont get demoned. You also have to spread out (when do you NOT have to spread out?). When other people get demoned you mess with their heads and pretend you arent going to kill it until it gets really close then you execute it, or at least thats what I do. If YOU get demoned you say something to the effect hey I got demoned, and then hope that you are well liked.
Phase 5: ITS A TRAP!
When Illidan reaches 30% Everyone Gets a sweet shadow bubble thing and then some guy with a hula hoop comes and talks crap to illidan. Then Hula Hoop guy runs someplace hilariously inconvienent such as directly against the back wall and drops a trap. Now in theory these traps are for illidan, they weaken him and make him take extra damage. In reality though the traps are actually traps for your raid that mess with your positioning and cause you to wipe to parasites. Most times you just ignore the trap and kill the mans, in which case its time for:
Phase 6: The Afterglow
Congratulations on your double vanquisher, healing cloak with spellhaste, felhunter on a stick and leather Bracer pattern. You are also gauranteed to get a warglave of azzinoth, unless someone in the raid diserves one.
More Important then loot however is that now you have killed illidan you are now offically "Mr. Cool"
Try not to @#$% of too many "casuals" with your "2 button epics" and always remember that all your accomplishments mean nothing because they are MONTHS BEHIND.
Omg. Ther is no Attunement. That is a big LIE! Now u can enter the Black Temple simply.
1) Inv a mate.
2) Convert party to Raid.
3) Enter and kill Illidan.
4) Inv a full raid of lvl 80 players when u earned lvl 70. Run once and get 3 tokens for your Tier 6. Lvl 80 players dont need the tokens, so its easy. (optional)
As of patch 3.2 do you still need a key to enter?
Now that the attunement is lifted what lvl is required to enter? would it be possible to make say a lvl 59 twink turn off experience and farm trash to get exalted thus able to purchase one of the trinkets that do not have a lvl requirment?
Ashtongue Talisman of Acumen
Ashtongue Talisman of Lethality
or the extremely rare possibility a lvl 19 (which would be awesome) but it requires lvl 58 to enter the first dungeon in outland so I'm sure that's not possible.
If you are looking for Rep farming, any 5 man group, no matter how noobish the ppl are, can go untill RoS.
Dont try RoS with less than 10 ppl tho. Its a wipe.
so if you guys dont mind how do u get in to BT now that the patch that i am on now ICC patch how do u get in?
It appears as of Wrath, Black Temple is a common site for Goldfarmers, as the trash mobs up to Najentis or whatever his name is drop gems, greens and high amounts of gold. Theres a forum post that goes into higher detail but anyways, just do a /who Black Temple 80 and wowarmory.com anyone you see. There are a few on Argent Dawn online right now, (Example, Aargog)
If you are wondering where the *freaking* entrance is (which no one has posted, probably the most important information)...
Its a crack in the wall to the right of the "main" (obvious) gate.
I hope you don't look for it for about an hour like me and my friend did... GL!
Any words so far that this raid is a solo at lvl 85? Or 2-3 manable?
Alright here we go again same old guy that solo the other instances with a friend.
Me prot warr and my shaman resto bud went to BT the other night and cleared it up to Essence. here our trip ended because there was NO @#$%ING way in hell to get around all those spirit shock casts its was just CC'd to the end of the earth and after 5 min of combat against him the shamans debuff had made him get 0 mana :<
so to actualy progress higher then essence ill gues you 3-5 ppl.
but for all the other bosses it was NO PROBLEM what so ever to actualy get em down. i were playing as arms on a few of em and just dps tank it. BT is 200% simpler then doing SWP with 2-4 man thats for sure
I don't see this mentioned on this page yet, so here it goes.
If you're wondering if you can solo this place, you cannot get past the 1st boss. When I tried it, the 1st boss didn't throw the spike at me, therefore I could not break his shield and he healed to full HP. I've heard people down him with only 2 people, but they didn't say how far they got after that.
I just 3-manned this instance tonight with two guildies (all level 85). I was an Unholy/Blood DK, and my friends were a Rogue and a resto Druid. I was able to tank most of the instance in my Unholy spec, up until the Council, where I switched into Blood. All three of us are decently geared with the current raid tier's gear (Rogue is in full non-heroic BiS). It may be advisable to have a tank for Shade of Akama because of the sheer amount of adds; we wiped once because everyone was getting chain stunned by Concussion Blows, but we still managed it the second time without me in Blood.
I also stayed in Blood for Illidan, but I think it could be done in Unholy. He doesn't hit too hard.
I figure we could do a few of the fights in 2-man, but this instance is definitely not soloable.
After successfully 2 manning AQ40 (fury warrior/shadow priest) I have switched my attention to BT with the same class combination (prot warrior/shadow priest).
Najentus is fine, the priest stands next to me so that I can remove the spike immediately.
Supremus is a tank and spank just don't stand in the fire!
Shade of Akama is easy, I go fury for this fight and take care of the spawning adds while the shadow priest dots up the channelers and focuses on killing them simultaneously. I think she had two new spawns which i promptly 2 shot.
Teron Gorefiend was much harder. He cast shadow of death on the shadow priest whilst I tanked, the shadow priest popped all dps cd's and put in as much damage as possible then died and had to kill the spirits. Once the 4 spirits were dead it became a dps race. I had to pull 5k dps as prot to beat the enrage timer and juggle defensive cooldowns to stay alive. A long fight but its doable as he wont cast shadow of death on the tank.
I am currently wiping on Gurtogg Bloodboil as the tank debuff stacks up too high, we managed to get him to 50%. When he casts fel rage on the shadow priest VT healing is sufficient to stay alive but the tank debuff lasts 60 seconds so I still die. I couldn't tank as fury.
We are also having the same problem as others on Reliquary of Souls but only made one attempt. Spirit Shock had us chain confused, supposedly a rogue can solo interrupt this fight with kick. Next attempt I will go fury and attempt to solo interrupt using pummel as damage in wasn't too bad.
Will update if any progress.
"You are not prepared!"
..We weren't.. ( wipe wipe wipe... )
Awesome instance and is becoming SO EASY with the guys level 85 u just need 1 awesome 85 tank and 1 awesome 85 healer and some dps and u can do it in less than an hour.
Attunement is no longer required. As a matter of face the starting quest is still there, but the tablets are no longer lootable.

Nearly two years before your post. You should actually read the comments before you claim something hasn't been said.
If you want it for the guild ach. Do you need to use the 0,8 factor? So do you need 20 people for it? Or can you do it with less people?
I want a CoT instance - Temple of karabor were you must stop the orcs (why orcs could play - the conquering orcs are under the control of the burning legion, playable orcs are free from the legion)
As a level 85 Illidan is an easy kill, I have been farming him for a few week now trying to get the mainhand warglaive of Azzinoth and the cursed vision. So far I have only seen the vision drop once...but I lost the roll.
A guide I made on how you can 3-man Black Temple.
A tour around BT, showing the road
Naj'entus, Supremus and Shade of Akama
Teron Gorefiend, Gurtogg Bloodboil & Reliquary of Souls
Shahraz, Illidari Countil & Illidan
Good luck, I hope the guide helps in whatever you want to get out of BT :)
Nobbel the Noble, League of Champions
Ok I done BT 2man with my friend. Me rogue and Mage friend.
First 4 bosses was easy to solo. The hard part was Reliquary of Souls as always.
My mage went frost for p2 so he didnt die(+ with frost you get some Spirit Shock casts on the pet ). I used white weapons 10-14lvl on p2 just for the energy and combo points coz with my weps i would kill myself. I used the kick glyph for 8s kick CD.
So thats how we interupted Spirit Shock.
5. You need to eat this 1 and kick the other cast
Some casts you will get it but np just wate for your mages CS. Oh and your mage has to spell steal all Rune Shield's.And use Mind-Numing poison for 1.3s cast. Hope this helps good luck ;) All other bosses are easy just Time warp and zerg. Sry for my bad english :(
I wonder what's behind the black temple that blizzard doesn't want people to see..
If you've ever tried flying behind it, there's an invisible wall that blocks going behind a certain point on all sides of the zone, so you can't get behind it. Maybe it's just blizzard worrying about people getting into an uninstanced version?
Strategy for two players from the
Solo/Duo Old Raid Compendium
, done at level 85 at patch 4.3 with ilvl 385-395 gear:
The Black Temple
is duoable except for one boss.
Some bosses (Supremus, Shade of Akama, and Teron Gorefiend) in the instance can be soloed by some classes with varying degrees of difficulty, but for less intense folks they will be challenging. The ratings below are for 2 man groups.
You must break his
by picking up and throwing the
that he casts on one of your party members. This mechanic likely makes him impossible to solo.
Shade of Akama
You must kill all of the adds that are channeling on the Shade itself, and then burn the Shade down before he kills Akama. The other adds can be mostly ignored, but new channelers occasionally show up and must be killed. Although the next four bosses can be done in any order, kill the Shade first, as that will give you a teleport from the entrance to the main temple, and make all Ashtongue adds in the dungeon no longer hostile.
He will cast
Shadow of Death
on a random party member. There is no way to avoid this death, but he seems to not ever cast it on the tanking player, even if no other players are left.
When the player dies from Shadows of Death, they will become a vengeful spirit, and will spawn several shadowy constructs that will attack the remaining party members. The spirit-player must kill these constructs, as they are invincible to regular players.
Before the marked player dies and becomes a spirit, they should go run to the other side of the room, so that they can use their abilities to slow down the constructs and kill them before they reach your duo partner. When you are a vengeful spirit, use
when they are on cooldown, and rotate
on all constructs to keep them slowed. After they are all dead, use
to help your partner out.
Reliquary of the Lost
, all healing is blocked by the boss's
Aura of Suffering
, which means you will likely have to use absorption shields (Power Word: Shield, etc.) to survive this phase.
Aura of Desire
makes healing the DPSers absolutely necessary. The Aura will also eventually reduce your casters' max mana to zero, crippling them.
Also in phase 2, the boss will try to cast
on three party members every five seconds. This must be interrupted every time or else she will chain cast the spell indefinitely, resulting in your group being permanently CC'ed. Every ten seconds she will cast a
that will make her immune to interrupts.
If you survive this phase, phase 3 seems to be a simple dps race with an increasing DoT on the entire group, but we did not get that far.
If you attempt to duo this boss, make sure you bring at least one damage shield, one way to heal every DPSer, a way to interrupt every 5 seconds (either two 10-second cooldowns, or a Shaman's 5-second cooldown interrupt), and ideally, a magic dispel for the shield. A single shaman can dispel the shield and handle all the interrupts, but will be limited by the decreasing mana and the lack of a shield for phase 1. This fight is difficult even with 3 people as it will still be able to chain stun you, but it because infinitely easier with 4 people as this becomes less of an issue, even if one of the group is underleveled.
The Illidari Council
Consists of 4 bosses that each share health with
, so any damage you do to one will be spread out across all 4.
will cast a
Circle of Healing
that needs to be interrupted, so focus damage on her throughout the fight unless there is a brief blessing preventing
Fairly straightforward in Phase 1. In Phase 2, he will throw his glaives on opposite sides of the circle with each having a
Flame of Azzinoth
tied to it. All players must remain close to the blades or the Flames will charge the farthest player,
, and kill you, so attack them both in the middle of the circle. In Phase 3 Illidan will occasionally assume demon form and
Summon Shadow Demons
which will stun the lower of the two on threat, walk towards that player, and kill the player upon reaching them. They can be killed easily, but need to be done so quickly. The 2nd player should stand at a good distance away so there is time to do this.
Just soloed this as a 395 NE Fury warrior with a self healing-build. I found that using Shadowmeld acted rather odd until I figured it out. For anyone else trying this reset, here is the key:
Do not fight him on the platform
, drag him back in the corner. If you fight him where he is and Shadowmeld he will instantly return to full health and instant aggro again with said full health. I had to reset by running down the ramp several times before getting it down. If you are in the corner, he will not aggro again until you attack and his health does not reset until he gets to his original position. That's your window to reel him back in without the bubble.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Blizzard changing the loot rules changed how much gold you get in this raid. I used to come in here with a friend and we would get 125g each for a boss, but now all the boss loot is divided before gold is picked up, so each person, in this 25 person raid, will just get 10 gold.
*edit* I have been told that the gold raids give out is now tied to your level. The closer you are to the level of a raid, the more money you get.
Went to BT today with a guildie and each boss dropped 20g meaning a share loot of 10g per person..after few bosses 2 more mates joined and each boss started to drop 40g, still each of us got a share loot of 10g..I m guessing they have changed the amount of gold each boss drops and instead you can get a max amount of 10g per boss...
too bad we have to say bb to the good old days for gold farming in BT :(
*edit: forgot to add that Illidan dropped 12g for each of us.
This instance is very easily solo'd by a Monk in heroic 463 gear, and most bosses can be soloed as WW spec. Only RoS and the bosses after have to be soloed as a Brewmaster, and Brewmaster is NECESSARY for RoS.
As you know, RoS is the one fight that makes BT hard to solo due to Essence of Desire and her Spirit Shock ability, which CCs you for 5 seconds and must be interrupted. However, a brewmaster monk can place their Ox statue right next to them, and when she CCs you, if your statue is nearby / you did some damage to her after placing the statue, she'll attack the statue until your CC wears off most of the time, giving you an opportunity to interrupt her and get some damage in before the cycle starts again. Also if you have Xuen, he helps eat some of the Spirit Shocks.
Due to this, you will be using your statue on cooldown pretty much, and it will take a few minutes, but she is soloable.
The other bosses are just tank/spank.
Ok, so... Patch 5.1 hit today, and now the entrance to BT has boards over it, and when zoning in it seems to be a friendly zone, supposedily for a warlock quest chain. Meaning I can't attack bosses! Am I missing something here? Blizz just implemented the ability to enter and solo old world raids without a raid group, but now I can't clear BT?
Please someone correct me and point me in the right direction so I can continue farming for my xmogs....
For those wondering: if u go SOLO into Black Temple u will not receive the buff "Trusted by the Ashtongue." In 5.1 u dont need anyone to join raids.
Easily solo'able as a moonkin druid at level 90 now.
: Tank and spank.
: Tank and spank (move out of fires though).
: Just spank (Akama is tanking :P).
: Tank and spank.
: Dots hardly hurt, another tank and spank.
: Pretty easy now after the nerf to its cast.
: Keep dots up, because the silence is annoying.
: Pop all CD's, use solarbeam, nuke them down. If you dont have enough dps, just kite one of the npc's onto the ramp on the side.
: Tank and spank again.
For those soloing in 5.1...it's not too difficult, but be warned...

Kill the defilers first or keep them on a pet!
So you want to solo Black Temple? I'll give you a quick rundown.
NAJ'ENTUS - You need a certain amount of DPS to kill this guy, the requirement is by no means high but it is there. Should he bubble then it's a wipe. He acts as a good barometer whether or not you can clear BT or not.
SUPREMUS - Just tank and spank. Don't stand in the fire, he has a huge hitbox so don't be afraid to move around a bit.
AKAMA - Clear all the trash in individual packs before talking to the Shade of Akama to start the fight. If you pull them altogether they will stun you for half an hour. Once you pull by talking to the NPC, kill all the adds around the shade, and all the adds that come out. When the Shade is attackable just go to town, he'll die quickly.
GOREFIEND - Just bash your face against the keyboard, he'll die.
BLOODBOIL - The second DPS check. Nowadays it's not so bad, but you're going to want to be able to heal yourself one way or another. Just make sure you blow any and all CD's on him possible, you won't be needing them for the next boss. It's best to also fight him with your back against a wall as he does punt, which can be difficult with a DPS race boss like this.
RELIQUARY OF SOULS - The hardest part of this instance is this boss right here, no joke. First face is easy, tank and spank. A bunch of adds will come out and restore your health when you kill them. The second face is where things get complicated. Any damage you deal to the boss will come back onto you. You are going to need a way to heal yourself and just widdle down his health. There are a ton of guides on how to do this, but I just suggest taking your time and slowly burning em down while constantly healing yourself somehow.
SHAHRAZ - Tank and spank, just watch your health.
ILLIDARI COUNCIL - Whoo boy, this fight surprised me in the initial difficulty. But it's nothing serious. I suggest just focusing on the paladin and kite him whenever you are in an AoE (which will be often). Just focus him down and move move move.
ILLIDAN - Illidan, for the most part, is a tank and spank. But there are one or two things to watch out for. In Phase 1 just make sure you don't stand in any blue fire. Phase 2, when he flies up and throws his glaves down you are going to want to stand at the EXACT CENTER of the grate. If you move too far away from either glaive one of the fire adds is going to enrage and make sweet love to your corpse. Even if you're standing in fire, stay in the center. I suggest blowing every single CD you have here and destroy one of the adds quickly. When one add is dead, you can then move with limited freedom with the second. Once both are dead, the rest of the fight is easy.
A full clear (with all trash) gives ~10,000 rep
Solo'd just a day ago on my 90 Protection Warrior. Here's a link to my
, with my average item level being 462.
Naj'entus requires simply patience. Pop cooldowns immediately after every shield when it's possible, and blast him. Make sure rage is maxed before that shield drops.
Other than that, only Gurtogg, the Essence of Desire, and Illidan do enough DPS through their abilities to possibly overpower Second Wind regeneration; Shield Barrier solves that potential hitch almost entirely, although your own DPS will suffer for it.
The clear took me about an hour, and I nailed it on the first try, so if you're looking to make a bit of side cash, pick up some T6 transmogs, and get a chance at those Warglaives, put the time aside for it. Much of the trash can be avoided, but big groups can yield a ton of stuff to sell.
I haven't seen anything about the level requirement but my 69 monk was not able to zone in, but neither did it display an error message with the level requirement. But it could be easily inferred from this that it's level 70. ;P
Solo'd this on a blood DK, iLevel 474, mostly blue tanking gear, but some LFR dps gear. Pretty straightforward, nothing too crazy, but I'll explain my bouts in hopes it will help someone else.
This assumes: you're getting diseases on the target and spreading them via Roiling Blood or pestilence, you're using Rune Strike when it's available, Heart Strike when it's up and using Death Strike at every turn. If you do this, then all soloing BT will cost is your time, about an hour or so if you want to be thorough. I put out about 30k dps in packs or between 26k and 28k on single target, for a point of reference.
Na'jentus was simple, after he bubbled I just waited and kept working him down.
Reliquary was easy once you realize that you just have to take phase 2 (the second face) slowly. If you dish out a ton of damage, you will die quickly. I only use my two diseases and death strike to keep me alive. It did take a while, but it worked and I ended with full HP.
Illidari council was a bit of a headache at first, I don't know who or what was triggering the bubbles, but they would bubble and I'd have to move to another of the boss mobs. Best be mindful of your HP, I dipped a little low at times, but used my CDs appropriately and it worked out.
Illidan was not hard, the two elementals that come from his glaives were a bit trying but simply don't go too far, finish one off, then move to the other. Illidan himself doesn't hit very hard, but still, play smartly and use your CDs.
Soloed as 90 Protection Palladin.
The only trouble was
-1st boss take Sentence of Execution as friendly target and heals him (possible bug, already reported)
-2nd phase relicary is tricky but in a diferrent way for other clases. Protection pallys have so low damage that you dont have to worry about hurting yourself but in 5 minute your mana will be 0 (boss debuff) and youre almost unable to do damage skills. It takes long time as the boss bubbles himself and the only skill i had for doing damage was sentence of execution and eng. bombs. Just try to make the most damage while you had some mana and then, be patient.
-Ilidarri council is tricky as well. All bosses share the same life pool. You have 1 female npc doing big healings and another one is putting inmune bubbles to the one youre focusing at. The trick is to aim for a not-healer boss, waiting for the guy to put the bubble to that one, and then change to the healer and interrupt circle of healing. If you make it to interrupt 5-6 healings the fight will be over soon. The buble had the same animation that pally's hand of protection.
-Illidan is not big deal, only watch the great damage in the flying phase, avoid fire, heals yourself and is done.
Anyone else have the problem of not seeing any mobs at all, nor friend, party or raid members in here after doing the green fire quest.
Could a level 89 frost DK solo this? please respond to this comment. thank you.
just soloed as a arms war in pvp gear ilvl 480 about an hour
the face boss on phase 2 is the longest part i just auto attacked the whole phase as to avoid killign myself
For those lvl90 mages stuck in the Reliquary of Souls, Time Warp is your best friend!
As soon as the Essence of Desire shows up, pop every cool down, hit time warp and give her everything you've got, stopping right before you die. When the Time Warp takes you back to full health, just keep going.
Take a health potion or spank a warlock until he gives you a healthstone just in case, and you should be done with that face in 20-30 secs, way before she kills your mana.
After you slay Illidan, you'll probably want to grab the warglaives of azzinoth. if in a raid, FLIPPIN CLICK NEED AS FAST AS UR POINTER FINGER WILL EVER GO! EVER!
Can be solod by Disc Priest ilvl 498 though my first solo was at ilvl 469.
High Warlord Naj'entus: Usually only gets one shield up before my measly 40k dps knocks him out. Nerfed. Plow Plow dead. Notable thing about this boss is that he is so easy that you should skip him, and you can.
Supremus: Macro Smite to 1 and Penance to 2. Hit buttons in no certain order. Over. Notable thing about this boss is he is like 100 feet tall so you can't miss him
Shade of Akama: Kill adds, burn Shade of Akama. 30 seconds well spent. Most notable thing about this boss is that it is just as lame now as when it was released.
Teron Gorefiend: Put on PW:shield, go make a sandwich, come back and kill him. Notable thing about this boss is nothing.
Gurtogg Bloodboil: Once the bane of soloing, has now been out geared. The stacks can still hurt, and you might need to direct heal (GASP) and not only rely on Atonement (double gasp). This fight pay some attention, but not too much. Shield up when available and as well as renew. Even max stacks are survivable. Just burn as fast as possible so you can get back to your napping. Most notable thing about this boss is he might still kill you...
Reliquary of Souls: Watch health, shoot heads. Over. Most notable thing about this boss is that it takes 20 minutes to get to it and 30 minutes getting back due to constantly nodding off.
Mother Shahraz: Can be a pain. She will silence you quite often for 10 secs. Can still deal 'owie' level damage. Keep renew and shield up and spam your 3 damage spells when not silenced. Most notable thing about this boss if you weren't a caster, she'd be so faceroll she wouldn't even exist.
The Illidari Council: Focus on Gathios as Malande is super buffed and Discs simply cant pew pew enough -at least I can't. Just ignore her altogether. They share a health pool. Ice one you ice them all. Most notable thing about this boss is that if they didn't share a heath pool, I probably wouldn't be able to solo them.
Illidan Stormrage: Pew Pew, run run run avoid stuff. When he tosses down his glaves, stay near one and burn down the add coming from the glaive farthest from you. The farther away the fire adds get from their glaive, the more ouch they deliver. Liek you are dead now, ouch. Burn down the one coming towards you from the glaive you aren't near by and then concentrate on the other. Avoid the epic fire coming from every direction but don't get to far away from the glaive. Hopefully when he is dead, he will drop one of his legendary glaives which of course is of absolutely no value to you because you can't use them since you are a priest. Most notable thing about this boss is that you have the opportunity to get a legendary weapon you can't use.
When Blizzard introduced the new Warlords expansion, I decided to collect the legendary weapons from here. My main is a Pally, who cannot use them, and my alts are not too good - I thought.
But actually, I run through with my ilvl 550 ret paladin on the first bosses to the last one, then I changed to the DK and finished Illidan Stormrage with him. Both were in the same raid - you might need a friend to invite both of your characters to the same raid group (and then the friend can leave the raid).
With this method it was VERY easy and fast run. Walking, looting and selling the stuff was much more time consuming than the killing itself. Good thing that the vendors are in the middle hall and you pass through this hall after clearing the wing on the east and north sides. I have my "Sancho Panza"; an argent squire with the bank/vendor/mail abilities. This is one extra vendor option when you cannot use mounts with the vendors.
The only one boss which needs some attention is the Reliquary of Souls; you can kill yourself if you make too high damage on him without self heal. I used the paladin's healing seal, and it was not a problem.
Trash and other bosses should not be an issue.
It was at least 500 gold (+ the 20 stacks of pink clothes which are in the AH now) in 30-40 minutes (+ travelling time with 2 characters)
I strongly recommend to go there with empty bags; 50+ empty spaces.
Warglaives did not drop, of course. But this was just first solo run, what should I expect?
For anyone interested, the following is a summed up list of what I got from soloing:
508 gold, 77 silver and 97 copper
All in all, if you want to vendor the gems (I'm a packrat so I keep them), you'd get almost 589 gold, and 18 1/2
s, which depending on your server, could go for another 462 gold, meaning you can get about
from soloing a level 70 raid once a week. If you're like me and you actually enjoy running old content, this raid is a 3-for-1, it has heavy lore value, TONS of gold even without lucky drops, and based on your own personal opinion, the most
BADASS LEGENDARIES IN THE GAME
(Warglaives, of course!). This raid is a do-not-miss for anyone who likes old content and money.
stone at 64.33, 46.55
Just soloed as a level 89 417ilevel prot/arms warrior, even at lvl89 its easy.
i did have to go prot at gurtog and the reliquary of souls because tehy did too much damage
Maybe It's a bit outdated but hell, not everyone bought their MoP.
How to solo BT as 85lv Rogue.
Well, It's nearly impossible because of concuil encounter.
Also keep in mind that my gear ilv is 399, and I've got
, so It might be easier or harder, depending on your gear.
is the talent spec and glyphs I used. You can consider picking Burst of Speed and Glyph of Recorvery, but Glyph of Evasion and Cloak of Shadows is hight recomended. On some bosses you need serious damage migination and healing.
In the most of the fights using Recuperate + Leeching Poison should be enough, but remeber that you can always use Shiv to get some extra HP for low cost.
You can always bring some MoP healing potions (bought @ AH) so you'll have almost full healup in case of emergency.
Killing trash is meaningless, because you can skip almost everything here. Be aware of stealth detectors (the 'eye' above mob's head), ghost wolves of
or normal wolves on the way to
High Warlord Naj'entus
Fairly easy fight. You can ignore trash on the way to him, tho if you're combat you might consider killing the 2 elementals next to him. It's just DPS burst. The main target is to burn him down before his first bubble, but last time I've killed him, the bubble healed for about 10% or so. If it wasn't a bug, you can just wait through it and then finish the job. Remember to keep up Recuperate and use leeching + deadly poison.
Skip the trash. Nothing serious here, just keep your Recuperate up, dont stand in fire, use your defensive abilities if needed and burn him down.
Shade of Akama
You can't skip trash here, so just kill it before the pull to have easier job. Boss fight is not hard. Killl the casters that slow down Shade of Akama. When it reach the real Akama, just burn it down. During fight, keep your eyes on adds that are trying to help slowing Shade of Akama, kill them asap.
You'll have to kill some trash on the way, depends on your sneaking skill. Fight is fairly easy, tho he can start to hit harder in the later part, so you can keep few defensive cooldowns for later. As always keep you Recuperate up.
You can skip whole trash here. It took me 2 tries to get him down. The key is to drop the debuffs he stacks on you. Try to heal through it for a bit at the beginning of the encounter, then use Evasion to dodge his melee attacks so you can reset the debuffs. You have to smart distribute your defensive cooldowns. You'll need evasion at the end, because of your armor losses and his damage stacking buff. Dropping Acidic Wound might be tricky, but it is possible with some luck.
Reliquary of the Lost / Reliquary of Souls
You can skip whole trash on your way. One of the hardest fight here, because you just can't nuke through it.
First phase (Essence of Suffering)
- fairly easy, you can burn you dps cooldowns here, because it doesn't really matter. Remember that your healing is reduced here and you'll need your defensive cooldowns ready for P2. In semi phase just kill ghosts (some will run away from you and despawn for some reason o_O).
Second phase (Essence of Desire)
- It's the fight breaker here. Boss reflects 50% damage you deal to it, so dont burn ANY dps abilities here. Even normal melee can kill you here. I highly advice to remove deadly poison from your weapon and pass on all your dot abilities.
First of all you need to focus on interrupting the Spirit Shock. It was nerfed so you won't const stunlock but be aware of it since you'll be exposed to the boss during disorient. If you can't kick it and you have to resist (low hp or something) you can do so with Cloak of Shadows.
Another ability - Deaden - can hurt a but you can dispell it with Cloak (I advice you don't) or just counter it with Combat Readiness, or just heal through.
Last ability - Rune Shield - can help you, but still is a bit dangerous. It makes Essence of Desire immune to kick, buffes it's damage and cast speed by 100%.
But, when you attack it, it doesn't reflect damage to you,
so you can get some extra combo points to refresh your Recuperate without risk.
Attack only with CP generating skills when you have a lot of hp or Rune Shield is up, refresh your Recuperate, Shiv all the time, interrupt Spirit Shock. Be careful with normal melee hits. It will take some time but you'll finish it of without risk. Don't get exited when it's on low hp, just continue your rotation or you'll waste another try.
Third phase (Essence of Anger)
Just nuke it thourgh with your DPS cooldowns.
You can skip whole trash again, but be careful for Sukkub patrol around boss.
Another hard fight here. You can ignore most of her skills, she won't teleport you anywhere, but most deadly thing here is her Saber Lash. Saber Lash hit's for enormous damage (about 30k to me), it doesn't have any timer and it seems to be used randomly. Also at about 10% HP she starts to use it on really high frequency.
On this fight luck, good defensive cooldown usage and healing potions are the key (tho I used DPS potions). If you can, try to buff yourself with food, flask, etc. If you want to use DPS potions, prepot.
Keeping Recuperate up is a must. Shiv whenever it is possible. Try to save your Evasion for later. It took me few tries before killing her (wiping @ 1-4%).
The Illidari Council
Impossible to solo for me. My best try was bringing them down to 40% after 3 hours of tries. Sorry. Get a healer friend for them or lv90 friend.
Never tried, sorry.
TomTom coordinates for Black Temple entrance are:
/way 71 46 Shadowmoon Valley
Decided to come here on my Rogue. After clearing thru akma the only door open was the one leading to Gurttog and Reliquary. Gurttog went down pretty easy and decided to skip reliquary but the other doors were still NOT open. So it appears that reliquary must be completed in order to open gorfiends door and council door.
Am I seeing this right? Only 2 two handed weapons in the whole gigantic, trash mob strewn hell hole? Ugh.
My character is currently level 70, and i cannot queue into this raid. I do, however, have one raid available for BC. Do i have to finish that one before the rest become available?
I guess the Illidari noticed the hole in the wall players were coming through to kill Illidan and decided to board it up. They didn't do a very good job though, and you can slip right through.
a zone-wide +% movement speed buff for the Black Temple, such as the one in Acherus (
) or the faction capitals of Pandaria (
). Perhaps tied to your reputation level with the
and activated once you free Akama? It's a lovely instance with plenty of replayability thanks to mog gear, pets, etc., ... but it's huge! I get tired just thinking about it all that running. Even just being able to mount in the several external areas of the zone would be most welcome. *puppy eyes*
Black Temple Entrance:
I am surprised that no one has talked about this in official forums, on WowHead or any other places.
Just like Naxxramas' removal with Wrath of the Lich King, I am guessing that Black Temple might be removed since Illidian is coming back. Do you think it would be the case for Black Temple? Would the items, especially the glaves, be unobtainable just like old Naxx items? I have most of the items and I have started to farm the glaves for a few other chars who can use them but I just wanted to know what others are thinking.
The Black Temple Entrance
I tried several ways to piggyback off a raidlock to farm only illidan and was unsuccessful. Even using 2 accounts. Sry guis gotta clear da whole ting.
Is soloable at Lv.110 as a Paladin, as can be seen at -
as of 9/30/2016, patch 7.0.3
These blades belong to
in the TBC raid
. He got them from a demon called Azzinoth who entered Azeroth in the War of the Ancients 10,000 years ago. Well, probably it occurs to you how he got them, surely not by asking him politely. Ever since, they are his trusted weapons and you can have them if you start farming him with the patience they deserve. Here are some facts and wisdoms about them collected over the years:
The weapon set is of two weapons. A main hand and an offhand.
Surely, they can drop fast or have your mind destroyed for the low price of 5% drop chance
As of Legion expansion they are usable by
Equipping them both together awards
which is a feat of strength
From 7.2.5 there is a Black Temple raid Timewalking event which will award
to any character participating and killing Illidan on the event but ONLY if you have the
on of one of your characters. This whole thing brings an achievement on its own -
The above means that you don't have to farm for the glaives on your
but you still have to farm for them on other classes
They are not transmogable unless for
Can be used in Timewalking TBC efficiently so this would be the closes you get to actually strike an enemy with them
If you like me haven't been in BT in like forever, and struggled to remember the way I found this really helpful.
All credits to the poster.
Blizzard has majorly buffed this raid. It has roughly tripled the health of all mobs, even outside the timewalking event. It is now nearly impossible to solo before 90, and even at 90, unless you can put out major DPS, Gorefiend is going to instakill you before you can down him. I don't know why Blizz did this, because farming warglaives now takes forever.
This zone seems busted since TW came about. When you enter solo it says it's set to 10-man, which seems odd considering it was a 25-man raid originally, and you can't switch it. Also the bosses have an enormous amount of HP considering the content. Illidan has 14 million for example. He had like, 6 million when it was current, before even cutting it in half with the squish.
During BC timewalking weeks, after you kill Illidan a portal spawns that can be used to travel back to Shattrath, even if you weren't doing it on timewalking mode.
you can teleport to the steps leading to the temple with the toy
this toy is bought from the TBC timewalking vendor for 750 during Burning Crusade timewalking events.
Whenever you see Akama, talk to him. He's a gross Broken tentacle thing.
If you are stuck, and it's not due to being lost, this is why.
ran BT on my 110 toon and got 2 items drop from every boss. The question is: where the fk is legacy loot system?
Can anyone tell me why I cannot use heroic on this raid? I have been working on rep and heroic is better. thanks :)
Now set to a level requirement of "30" which in translation would be level 80 pre-squish. Gear still on a "27" level requirement and still worn on old 70 characters. Weird
