that achieve name.... omg make it a title!
Most likely awarded for defeating Kanrethad Ebonlocke and gaining command over fel energy before the expedition to Draenor set out.
Please tell me the feat status does not mean it will be unobtainable.
That they specify when you did it probably means the questline probably isn't going away in WoD. Thank God, because I'm not good enough with my lock alt to ever hope of getting it during MoP.
We shall double our efforts!
they need to remove the quest because then everyone will be running around with green fire
The accomplishment is itself quite easy right now, with the item level provided in the last tier. The real challenge was at lower item levels, like 497 as I did, but there are even people doing it at 460 or lower item level by using the alchemy potion to remove the curse (i.e. 15 min enrage).
I agree for a title by the way :) it would be amazing!
YAY! I thought the point was to have
the black harvest, not to become part of it...maybe defeating Kanrethad means we get his old spot? Who cares? Title title title!
Original: I can imagine a Feat of Strength similar to this one for obtaining rank 10 with one's faction's brawler's guild at level 90/before WoD (and/or obtaining the
), and I'd probably agree with its implementation.
i'm thinking it will look like
I hope you can achieve it during WoD but you need to be 90 (and warlock of course)
Now rewards the title "Of the Black Harvest", Awesome! :D
But the FoS will be unobtainable in WoD!
Title will be account-wide
, but only accessible for your Warlocks. No need to rush out and get it for the fire on each and every warlock to get the title on all!
After that first lock, you can take your sweet, sweet time getting green fire on the rest. :)
Omg, yes. "of the black harvest" title thank goodness omg.
Just spoke to a GM about this. He said the FoS Achievement and title will be rewarded at launch of 6.0.
That means: Get your quests done my warlock brothers and sisters, before it's too late!
I sure would like to see it only available if the fight is completed under i400.
cant wait, thank you Blizzard <3
Anyone knows exactly if this title will be removed at WOD launch or at the pre-wod patch? As in, do I have to get it done within the 13th november or is there a risk it will be 1 month or so earlier (if it does like the pre-mop patch)?
This achievement is no longer attainable
FYI, just received this achievement in 6.02.
Never give up.
I reverted back to normal fire before patch because I didn't like the green after having completed the quest, and I did not receive the title or achievement. Putting in a ticket now...
*edit* Apparently a hotfix is being worked on to fix this issue.
Still obtainable in 6.0.2. Proofs:
Yeah, it is obtainable. Got it 10/17 (four days after 6.0.2)
Just managed to get this on my Destruction Lock tonight (10/25/2014)
For those still trying to tackle this beast, I can confirm that as of the 6.0.2 pre-patch it is still possible to get the Feat of Strength and the Title.
My ilvl at the time was 561 but this was still by no means a walk in the park. I kept having timing issues with the mechanics and always seemed to do the wrong thing at the wrong time. Only a handful of times did I ever manage to make it past the first Fel Hound phase.
In the end, what worked for me was following the advice of several posts for positioning, location of Demonic Gateways, Demonic Circles, etc. I did several "trial runs" really concentrating on the first minute or two of the fight and trying to keep it clean. Once I even managed to get Kanrethad down to 6%, but stupidly forgot to setup Soulstone first, so I couldn't rez. Lol...all I needed was one more Chaos Bolt.
I highly recommend in addition to having Flasks of the Warm Sun and the +34 food buffs, get Drums of Rage and Drums of Forgotten Kings. Every little bit helps. I also started with my Imp and kept him until T-5 seconds before the Pit Lord was fully summoned before I sacrificed him, allowing me the extra firepower against Kanrethad at the beginning. Feared the Pit Lord and popped my burst macro to use my trinks, Potion of the Jade Serpent, Drums of Rage, and Dark Soul: Instability and tried to nuke Kanrethad down as much as I could while the Pit Lord was still feared. This time it seems luck was on my side as I didn't even have to get into the first Fel Hound phase as I was able to burn the boss down before that.
My advice to anyone that is doing this is just to keep at it. It's defitely doable.
to any lock who was able to do this with a 483 or 496 ilvl. I can't imagine doing that without winding up with a keyboard imprint on my forehead from repeated head bangings.
Good luck to everyone that's still trying to squeeze this in before the official launch of MoD!
Whilst I have not done Kanrethad after the patch, I have done him several time before it (lowest ilvl 511) - note that after the squish his 16 odd million health-pool goes down to 916k, I'll link a video of Az from HeelVSBabyface who has recently done after the squish :)
GREEN FIRE Patch 6.0.2 Edition !
Seems like they changed something...
My friend got this feat yesterday.... and the text only says to absolve the quest, no time in the text...
Just after the 6.0.2 patch and a 8 month vacation from WoW I wanted to try this achievement. My lock was still in questing greens because it was a neglected alt so I equipped her with some Timeless Isle epics and got the 553 belt and legs from tailoring. She was around 504 iLvl and I felt confident enough that I should be able to do this, because I read ppl in 489 gear could do it also.. so I spent a whole evening fighting Kanrethad but couldn't even get past the felhunter phase! I read a lot of tips and tricks but they didn't seem to work anymore.
The chaos bolts could not be dodged by standing LoS of them, demonic gateway doesn't drop aggro, only 1 healthstone each combat, sending the pitlord LoS of felhunters view before they were summoned was still making them devour my enslave and so on.. Struggling to keep alive.. And when I could not burn the felhunters down quick enough before the pitlord reached me again, from all the way across the room where I sent him just before felhunters were summoned, and started to bash into me I gave up and decided to level my lock up a bit first.
Did SoO LFR one time, and after that some bosses from the normal version. Farmed timeless isle frogs for loads of charms, coins and a few burdens for maybe 2 hours in total. Spent coins on more burdens, did Ordos and celestials, and upgraded all my gear with the charms. In no time the lock had iLvl 550. So when I had some time to spare this morning I tried again.
Stocked up with drums, best food, purification potions and flasks and prepared myself for a hard fight again. But now I could kill him easily before he could even summon the felhunters :)
Went full out on the bos before he summoned the Pit Lord with all cooldowns and hero drums. I feared the pitlord, this leaves Kanrethad standing like a target dummy for 20s more, so with all cooldowns popped he was well below 50% when I enslaved the Pitlord and he started casting his DoTs and stuff as usual. Cleansed myself reguarly with Unbound Will and Singe Magic throughout the fight. Killed the imps in a few seconds, with RoF and letting the pitloard breath om them and me. Never had to use his heal.Poor Kal managed to get one shadowbolt off so I used my Sacrificial Pact talent to soak it. After that he casted cataclysm, so stunned him with the pitlords Charge command. And then he was dead :D
It will take ridiculous little time to get your ilvl up far enough to just faceroll this fight. So even when you have a lock with green questing gear, this feat can still easily be obtained before the new expansion hits.
I got this an hour ago on my main who is an AFFLICTION lock. Used Affliction spec to kill him. Went quite smoothly at Item level 556. Didn't even get to the Felhunter stage. So yeah thought I'd share this because everyone seems to think that this can only be done with destruction.
Just got this today, as of 6.0.3 the feat and title are still available for anyone still looking to earn it.
Got it today, as of 01/11/2014, can tell you now it was nuts at first till I realised how easy it was with enough IL. Sure, it is genuinely doable without IL, but for sanities sake - get high IL.
Proud green fire user, and black harvest title owner.
This title is still obtainable in 6.0.2 and will be removed on the 13th of November.
The feeling when I got the title easily exceeded the sensation of an orgasm by over 9000. Magawd.
got this achi and title just a few mins ago :)
hurry up guys!
I just finished this quest line (Destro iLvl 545) at 0806 hours! WOOT! So the title is definitely still available.
I looked online and watched videos on Youtube and read
, but still couldn't quite get the hang of it. It was a difficult fight, even at my iLvl!
I had a really hard time getting the Pit Lord to stay facing the Imps during that add phase so I could use his Fel Flame Breath on them. Also it is necessary to move out of the boss's Rain of Fire, and stay out of the pink swirls on the ground, while you are trying to use Rain of Fire on imps and trigger the Fel Breath at the same time. Also, if you make it to the second add phase (Felhunters) they break the enslave on the Pit Lord and it is pretty hard to recover from that.
I never could get the hang of doing it the way I saw on most of the videos, then I saw a comment on here that said to just burn the boss down so I thought, what the heck, I had tried everything else...lol.
It took me about 8 hours (including the time I spent researching the fight) and abut 20 - 25 wipes to kill Ebonlocke so I thought I would share what worked for me:
1. I placed the demonic gateway up across the center (left to right in front of the boss's portal, not behind one of the pillars) so I could get out of the boss's rain of fire and away from the imps (not to teleport away from his Line of Sight Chaos Bolt).
2. I did use Grimoire of sacrifice on the fel imp for the singe magic but didn't actually use it.
3. As soon as the boss was targetable, i began with rain of fire and kept it up continually as much as possible to build burning embers (= more chaos bolts!)
4. I then summoned my Doomguard.
5. I feared the Pit Lord as soon as he was targetable, but you really have to be quick or he will stun you for like 5-6 seconds. If you do get stunned, you can use Unbound will to break it, then try to fear again. This really made a huge difference because it gives you another 20 seconds or so to DPS the boss. **DO NOT FEAR THE PIT LORD MORE THAN ONCE!**
6. As soon as fear is finished then enslave the Pit Lord and retarget the boss and place demon on assist. Immediately after this, I used the demon's charge ability, which stuns boss, and got off four full chaos bolts (does double damage when boss is stunned!) I used charge a couple of times as soon as it was off cooldown and he never got off a chaos bolt or cataclysm, but was able to summon the fel imps. His health was around 25-30% by then.
7. I used one cast of shadowfury to stun imps, followed by one cast of rain of fire, then used the Pit Lord's Fel Flame Breath on the imps. After that I completely ignored the imps and continued DPS'ng boss, but unfortunately I got stuck in the pinkish-purple swirl on the ground and died, but used soulstone (glyphed to bring you back at 100% health) and quickly re-enslaved Pit Lord (The enslave is cancelled if you die!) and immediately continued DPS'ng boss. There were still some imps up but I still got him by just burning him down with RoF and Chaos Bolts, and using the Fel Flame Breath, and Charge ability. The Pit Lord also has a heal but I didn't use it, but it could be of use, especially now that health potions and healthstones share a cooldown.
I think the higher your ilevel the easier it will be to just burn him down. I got him before the first round of felhunters (ie; second phase of adds) were even summoned, but expect to wipe quite a few times until you get use to the mechanics.
**Once you have defeated EbonLocke, make sure and click on him (he should be green now) to channel the spell to get your green fire!
**Also I didn't get credit for the achievement/title until after I left instance.
Still get title and achiev as of 09-Nov-2014, but you don't get them until you zone out of BT after defeating the last boss.
This took me approximately 40 attempts over two days with ilvl 501. Was very challenging, but incredibly rewarding. Purely skill based. I can't post links, but youtube video titled "Kanrethad Kill Guide (Green Fire) in Patch 5.4" by Serious helped a ton.
If you're thinking about getting this, I definitely recommend it. Very gratifying.
Just got this yesterday after about 25 total tries, final ilvl was 536
And for a not-very-good player like me the feeling of achievement was awesome! (i am old and rubbish at games )
afterwards i was running round the room like a kid :)
This achievement is now unobtainable, in 6.0 this achievement was implemented for the people that did the quest for when it was still current content.
to all those who have completed this quest before wod launch and didnt recive their title and achievement i say don't lose your hope, after 15 days and 6 tickets today a gm answered me saying that they found a way to recognize people who have completed the quest before wod so once i logged in i got it.
According to 6.1.0 Known Issues - Updated 2/20/15
•Players that completed the Black Harvest Warlock scenario during patch 5.4 but did not log in during the pre-patch report that they did not receive the "
" achievement when logging in during Warlords of Draenor.
Like many of you I didn't get the achievement even though I did the green fire quest pre-WoD, I submitted around 8 tickets regarding this issue and GMs now have been saying that they are not allowed to grant players the title as it's problematic and that it will not be fixed. I find it annoying since my friend got it on the same day I received that reply.
completed this fight long long time ago i had something like 500 ilvl,it was very hard really. needed proper preparation for it. back in a days i read loads of comments guides, macro guides, build guides and watched youtube videos.for the average player it was not obtainable. everyone who i knew and read guides the minimum was 40 50 tries, some people did it in 80 150 tries. of course there was some very good player who could complete it with 478 gear ilvl and pvp gear those people were sick as hell, keep in mind some players done it with 511 ilvl and bac in the days that was the hardcore raid gear,so maybe 4 5% of the players had that ilvl only those who did raid hardcore, then gear ilvl changed spells abilities changed.i think it took 50 tries for me to complete it,i was about to die when i defeated the Kanrethad.few times i gave up tbh but i went back again and again it was very very frustarting challenging and random fight,i completed it as destro lock for me that was the easiest way to get even close to the kill , ofc some people done it as affliction and demo i bow to all locks who completed it under 511 ilvl or affli demo. have fun all of you guys and girls i just came here for nostalgy.
To be clear: Warlocks can still obtain green fire for their spells by doing this quest chain, but they are no longer eligible for the title.
I think it's a little crap that this is unobtainable, not because I think everything should always be obtainable but because... in the new Warlock class halls almost every NPC is "of the Black Harvest" so I kinda assumed it would be the rep I would be working towards with my Warlock class... only to find out 1) that's not true and 2) I'll never get this title, but be taunted by it all day every day. Grrr.
They really need to phase stuff like this. Same thing happened with the High Elves of Dire Maul reputation and this FoS. I was working on both of these when I got deployed. Came back to find out I had missed it after putting in all the work. :(
I will never forgive blizzard for cheating me out of this achievment.
very pity they removed the fos, they could have used scaling to keep the difficulty.. Would love to go for this now since i missed it back the other days...
One-shot Kanrethad with a shadowbolt crit as a level 54, IL 92, demonology warlock. Sad that the title isn't available any more, but it really isn't a skill check any more so I understand.
