First off I would like to start by saying that this achievement does not have to be done with Hoptalus or in the Hoptalus' room. The way our group did this was by having the tank(Death Knight) pull all of the mobs from the room after Ook-Ook (first boss) up the ramp to the room before the room where you fight Hoptalus (second boss). The tank would then pick up all of the hoppers and boppers that they can while kiting in a circle.(you can get a bit of threat on them but they don't have a whole lot of threat so make sure you don't kill them) We used a warlock with Soul Burn curse of exhaustion to slow them and when he needed more soul shards dps would single out a bopper and kill it while he drained soul. Frost traps earthbind totem and other similar slows would also work for this. After a few minutes of picking up and kiting the dps killed a bopper and picked up a hammer waiting for the tank to get them all in position, at this point the tank pops all cooldowns and stands still and the dps with the hammer uses it. Achievement earned!

This is actually a really easy achievement if you know what you're doing.
At first, my group thought you needed to pull all the trash outside into the bosses room, and tank it while killing the boss, and use his "waves" to generate more adds. That's
not
how you do it.
Instead, you can do this entire achievement by standing outside the bosses room. There's an unlimited number of spawning hoppers, and if you stand just inside his door, you'll get all of them. Once you've waited for a reasonable amount of time, grab a hammer and start swinging! If you don't get it, you can just stay in the same area and try again.
Once you engage the boss, the unlimited spawns stop, so just hang out outside his door until you've got it.

The safest way to do this achievement is to stand in the terrace just outside the gauntlet. We had our tank and healer stack up on one side getting healing aggro/non damaging aggro on all the small bunnies. We had another person taunting the Boppers and Hoppers and killing them, as they do quite high tank damage after a while. Once we had a very high amount (if you think you have enough, count 30 more, than go, to be safe.

My group did this tonight using the strategy in the video posted in one of the comments here. We had did the timing a bit differently, however. The tank stood on the right side while the DPS pulled the Hoppers and Boppers to the left.
The problem we were having is that when we estimated we had enough, we'd bop the rabbits and there wasn't actually enough. We counted that 4-6 seem to come out in 10 seconds. On occasion, one of the rabbits that comes out seems to jump off the terrace and despawn. We also took into account the few rabbits that may accidently get killed.
Based on all this, we decided that once we started engaging the rabbits at the start of the terrace, we would start the in-game stopwatch (/stopwatch). We would wait until the stopwatch struck 5 minutes. Once that happened, one of us would get a hammer, stand on the tank, and smash. We got it easily. While I recall that the person with the hammer actually went at 4:45 or 4:50, we made the go point at 5 minutes so that we would have a cushion on the rabbits incase some accidently died or a few were missed.

I managed to solo this achievement as a Blood DK with equipped ilvl 485. The fight itself is easy enough, but it definitely a gear check. Here's a rundown of some tips and tricks for getting this achievement the DK way, as well as for the gauntlet leading up to it:
The first 7 mobs of the instance are empowered by Pandaren spirits. You never see the spirits targeted because they are pretty trivial even with a facerolling healer. While soloing, however, the magic damage stacks up, and they bypass your Blood Shield. These spirits explode even when taunted, and you should do it ASAP. You should be able to get rid of the two spirits in the water pull (you don't have to kill all of them) before aggroing, but for the fire pull you'll have to kill them while the Hozen are on you. Pop AMS to increase survivability for those few precious seconds.
The sleeping Hozen by the exploding beers are easily dispatched. I didn't try pulling the next room into this one to see if I could kill them quickly with the brew, but it's worth trying.
In the boss room, the Hozen can be pulled in 4 or 5's, and if you do that they should put up little resistance. The barrels really speed things up if you use them.
The boss himself does barely any damage, but then again, neither do you. Use the barrels vigorously. You should get another achi Keep Rollin' Rollin' Rollin' as well, if you don't mess up any barrels.
And for the achievement itself, this is the most challenging part (obviously). I did it at right outside of the Hozen boss's room, which seems to be the best place. The Hoplings have a tendency of jumping off the sides, and the only way to stop them is by aggroing with damage (which you don't want, to prevent killing them) or by literally walking on top of them.
The main threat here are the Hoppers. They are avoided by standing in close combat with them, which forces them to begin to cast their self-destruct while standing still, allowing you to then move away and avoid the stun.
To occupy your time while the Hoplings gather, you should Death Strike the Boppers and kill them. Avoid using diseases and slow down on the AoE. Pick up the hammers as they drop; they serve as a rule-of-thumb for when you should hit the hammer. I had about 50 stacks on when I hit the Hammer.
Spec for Remorseless Winter, and use it on CD, it will reduce your damage taken considerably.
When your Death Strikes and cooldowns are having problems keeping up with the damage, it is time to hit the hammer. It took me two tries (just walk back to the Hozen boss room and kill that are aggro'd on you then eat up, no need to leave the instance, and you'll survive multiple tries) to get it.

I am not sure if this will help you but it helped us when we did it. As a Warrior Tank and having thunderclap, Recount tells you the # of times you hit with it, ie the number of mobs it hits. You cannot reset recount during combat but the one reading if good with fast math can figure out how many they are by taking the new number and subtracting the old number. eg. if the FIRST hit you get 20 then you do another a min later and get 64 you have 44 mobs around you. It worked like a charm to count how many we had.

Did this today as a solo 502 warrior. Required stuff: 2 Shields, Second Wind talent.
From there I made a macro:
/castsequence Shield Block, Shield Block, Shield Barrier
/use 13
/use 14
/target Bopper
Spamming this kept me alive indefinitely while I waited at the bottom of the final terrace (just outside Ook's room) and helped to target the Boppers in the sea of Hoplings I eventually gathered. From there just hitting your single target damage abilities will take them down easily. You will want to adjust from one side of the terrace to another when you're unable to pick up hammers or when a Hopper starts to cast his explosion near you. Your first shield will break around 45ish stacks of hammer buff if you're picking them up constantly and as Uinri's post states once you're over 50 you're basically ready to swing. I waited until 60 or so just to be safe.
If you're having trouble living solo through the rest of the instance just 1 friend should be able to get you through. Ook was probably the most challenging part but as long as you keep stacking up the barrel debuff and avoid his cone-stun attack you'll get him down easily.

It seems worth mentioning that this is a group achievement - that is, each member of your group does not have to physically bash the bunnies with the hammer. Got it this evening and definitely didn't bash any bunnies.

Just solo'd this on my Resto Druid (577 ilvl), the mace you swing will only last 1 minute once you pick it up so don't bother trying to grab one early and hold it until you're ready just wait till you have enough mobs then moonfire one down. I wasn't sure how to count how many I had so I just waited until there were so many that they nearly killed me if they were all on me at once. 1 protip make sure your armor is at least 60% with that many mobs on me I watched my durability go from 75 to 30 by the time I swung (I probably had more than 100 though)

I wrote a macro that can be used to complete this achievement. You need to activate the enemy name plates by pressing "v", then use the macro. The total of enemies will appear in chat.

I just solo'ed this achievement with a Blood DK and my ilvl equipped was 501. The set I was using was a tanking set. I used the video tutorial above but it took a little bit longer. I was waiting in the spot the video was showing to wait in but some would just run past me. I was there for 5-10min gathering the little vermin and killing the big vermin, especially the ones that explode. I mainly used Rune Strike and Death Strike and also Bone Shield when the CD was up. I used Asphyxiate on the big vermin that explode to give me time to kill them. I did manage to do this the first time as well. I died at the end cause I was getting careless but I used the hammer right before I died and got the achievement.

Managed to finally solo this on my Warlock. Tried several of the strats other classes found successful, without such success. Eventually worked out the following and got it after 2 tries. Ran up the ramp to the large room (where you do
How Did He Get Up There?
). Place the Demonic Gateway spanning from one side of the room to the other, as far apart as you can make them. Then, jump up on the rail and place your Demonic Circle. Now run around gathering mobs. Shadowfury is helpful for keeping them off of you. I did this as Destro and killed Hoppers, both to avoid the explosion and to generate Embers for Ember Tap. Once I felt I was getting overwhelmed by damage, I would jump over the railing down to where I fought Ook-Ook. Hang out here, letting your cooldowns work towards resetting. Once the mob of Hoplings starts coming around the corner, teleport back up to your Demonic Circle and resume gathering mobs. Once the horde of Hoplings starts bearing down on you, you'll want to make use of Shadowfury and the Demonic Gateway to make a safe getaway back to the railing where jump back down. Rinse and repeat a time or two and then kill a Bopper and grab a hammer. Once the horde of Hoplings is back in the room and on you, stun them and swing with the hammer.

Soloed with my ilvl 576 WW monk, was a bit worried about

I was able to solo this as a prot pally wearing my ret set, except for my 1H and shield, equiped ilevel 552. I found the key was to be able to kill the boppers quickly enough which my pure prot set wasn't allowing.
I positioned myself in the middle of the gauntlet on the first outside landing at the top of the ramp with my back to the railing and facing the door to the building. This allowed the small hoppers to join the group, while the exploding hoppers continued past. Boppers would naturally join the group though I was killing them fast enough I started taunting them in.
I used z0fa's script and waited till I had 120 before using a hammer so that any visible nameplates that weren't in my group wouldn't throw off the achievement

Note that you'll take a ton of durability damage tanking this achievement. My gear went from not visibly damaged to all armor yellow and broken shield. Repair first!

Me and boyfriend 2 manned this.
Our suggestions:
Split the damage if you can, have a friend or two and take turns getting an amount to point you feel you can survive.
Don't try to survive ALL the rabbits. Kill the big ones, just leave the little ones. If your a druid or dk this will help you survive, just no AoE!
Tank spec it if ya can!
Kite! it'll help reduce damage.
NO LEGENDARY CLOAK! Seriously, the dps ones proc and will kill all your rabbits!
Do the clinger while your at it if you have friends! Just have the area marked and stand to the side so the exploder is directly under it when you BOP! Just wait to do this till you get all you need!
Tight group! It'll hurt but ya don't wanna hit 99 instead of 100!

This achievment is very easily soloable as a resto druid (and possibly for other healers). I had 573 ilvl but it could be done with much lower gear.
Clearing upto the achievement area
I solo'd upto the achievement area (shown in the youtube link below) as boomkin with 569 ivl. At the start just entangling roots 1 of the large monkeys then kill the others. I used my dps cooldowns to be safe as they do hit quite hard. It's also a good idea to kill the ale elementals floating around in the room after the 1st 2 large monkeys because they seemed to do a lot of damage and knocked me back while I tried to cast. In the room where you need to kill 40 little monkeys just kill a few at a time and it's very easy.
For the 1st boss just keep rejuvenation rolling on yourself and move away every time you see him casting ground pound. At 60% and 30% the boss gains 15% haste and damage so if you are having trouble keeping yourself alive long enough I suggest stacking lots of barrel debuffs on the boss before dpsing the boss that low so that he is only in those high damage phases for a very short time
My achievement strategy :

I then just kept 3 stacks of lifebloom and rejuvenation rolling on myself. I occasionally cast a nourish or healing touch just to get my mastery buff up ("Harmony". Increases the strength of your Hots).
I used the following macro to kill the boppers. They don't count for the achievement so it's good to kill them to reduce the damage on yourself. Just literally run around your efflorescence in a circle while spamming it :

/cast moonfire
You can avoid the exploding adds because when they are casting their explode spell they can't move. So if you see an add casting something just move away to the other side of your effloressence.They don't do that much damage anyway so it's not a problem if you get hit by a few.
Finally I recommend the level 45 mass entanglement talent.. It's a 30 second cooldown and lasts 20 seconds. The roots will break after a small ammount of damage but you aren't dpsing anything except for boppers anyway so everything else will remain rooted allowing you to just take a few steps away to avoid all their damage. This makes the healing easy even with far lower gear levels than I did it with.
If you are a night elf and want to start again for any reason then just step back into the room where the 1st boss is and shadowmeld. I used this strategy to go outside the instance and repair because even though I didn't die you do take a lot of durability loss when you have so many adds pouding you.
To know if I had enough hoplings I used the macro z0fa provided in his post:
/run local count = 0 for i = 0, 10000, 1 do if _G ~= nil and _G:IsVisible() then count = count + 1 end end print(count)
I wasn't sure if the macro also counted the Boppers and Hopper adds so I kept going until the above macro said I had about 120-130 adds to be certain.

Edit: I did this at level 90. Now, at level 100, this should be significantly easier to do, but I will let the information here stay for those that still find use in it.
I just soloed this as a druid. When you have so many virmen on you, you go down
fast
. What I did to counter this was to pick the following talents:

I stood at the first wooden platform outside after defeating Ook-Ook, and picked up the virmen there. When they had made a dent in my health pool, I activated

The strategy that I found to work perfectly, was to use

at the start, even if I made it with good margin. I recommend waiting with using it until later, when you have more use of the stronger heals (unless you do this as Resto; then you probably won't need the talent at all).
The fact that I am Guardian and in bear form might have helped mitigating the damage a bit further, but this should be doable with all specs.

Soloed this as a prot warrior very easily. Never dropped below 90%. I killed Hoppers and Boppers and only kept the Hoplings. I used the macro to count the name plates. Just to be sure I waited for the counter to go to 130.

I soloed this as a MM hunter (651ilvl) with 238k health.
At the area just outside the room with the first boss, wait at the bottom of the ramp. You'll start building up a nice "collection" of Hoplings around you. You can either use macros as suggested in previous comments or you can rely on just making a rough estimate and counting them as they come down. Those that jump off the sides should not be counted, obviously. As the hoplings gather around you, you'll also notice Hoppers and Boppers making their way down. You should kill these. I recommend just letting Auto Shot take care of them. This is because a single Auto Shot won't always kill a hopper or bopper, which can often allow you to finish them off with a Kill Shot, which in turn will allow you to regain 15% of your health. This is important for keeping your health up while you have dozens of hoplings attacking you. It's not always guaranteed that Auto Shot will do enough damage to allow for a Kill Shot, but you should have no problems keeping your health up with only the occasional Kill Shot. Bring healthstones and/or a healing potion with you for extra precaution.

Amusingly easy as a Brewmaster Monk. Just put an Ox statue at the bottom of the ramp, use
/run local count = 0 for i = 0, 10000, 1 do if _G ~= nil and _G:IsVisible() then count = count + 1 end end print(count)
to count the hoplings on it. Kill a single Bopper so you get a hammer, and bonk 'em all! Quite fun and easy actually.

Ok guys i've been struggling a little bit with the amount of virmen until i realised that by the time u go inside the room(upstairs) the virmen stop spawning!So after the Ook boss just run out and wait for the virmen to come! you can use the that cool macro the guy said!You get some dmg but since ur lvl 100 most attacks of them miss/dodge/parry etc.You can use any kind of pot or w/e but i doubt ur gonna die!You may have the same problem and since its not refered to any guide i wanted to write about this because pandaria players may know that BUT it wont be common to new players!Was my last achievement for the glory-_- so good luck fellas!

After Ook-Ook go up the ramp. When you're up do not go outside because they will stop spawning, simply stand in front of the door and aggro hoppings. Use the macros that few people already posted to count them and BAM.

Soloed it a second ago and it seems that the count is bugged perhaps. Using z0fa's macro (top comment), I counted 102 hoplings and the achievement did not pop after smashing them. I attempted a second try and gathered 132 hoplings that time, at which point the achievement popped.

If you by any chance miss the achievement and are on the boss with only a few virmens, dont bother die and reset because you wont be able to do it again until next day because once you started the fight with the boss they are absent through the rest of the dungeon. Just saying not to die for nothing :)

Solo at 110.
You do NOT need to wait till you get to Hoptallus' room/area to kill only the adds that spawn by him.
Do it as soon as you go outside the building after killing Ook ook, and you start the gauntlet of little rabbits running down the ramps, little hoppers and medium ones with hammers and bombs. Don't even start up the first ramp. Just stand at the bottom of that first ramp, right between the 2 bottom posts, blocking the ramp and aggroing all the little hoppers that come down the ramps. You can single target and kill the medium rabbits with hammers and bombs as they slowly walk down the ramp. I waited at least 3-4 minutes to make sure I had aggroed enough hoppers, then grabbed a hammer and hit it.
Instant achievement.
Didn't get it? Just keep standing there and try again and again, waiting longer till you aggro even more.

As of 7.3.5, does no longer reset if you run up the stairs. Have to run all the way back and exit instance, or jump over the edge and die.

I'm usually a protection paladin, but had to re-spec because my
Retribution Aura
was passively killing too many to let the wabbits accumulate in sufficient numbers. I ducked out of the way, went holy, and then followed a lot of the advice here: stand in the doorway and let the wabbits come to you. Once I had sufficient numbers, I counted an extra fifty, then picked one to kill to get his hammer.
Moral of the story: this achievement is easily solo-able for a Level 110 pally, but make sure your passive defenses are down. It'll only sting a little, I promise. It may also be worth noting that z0fa's script capped out at 40 for me, but when you're standing in the doorway it's fairly easy to count the extra 60 (and 50 more as a buffer) you need for the achievement.

Easy and fun. Done on balance druid 100+. Stand right at the door entrance where they come out so you aggro them all, but dont go inside the room. Get a hammer and just stand there for a while gathering hoppers, hammer will run out, so just keep picking them up with one casts- NOT dots!. Then when you think theres enough, a good few minutes, bang! Good fun

I stood at the door as other comments have said, but I started a stopwatch because I tried and failed a couple of times to eyeball how many hoppers I had grouped up. Sitting and waiting for 5 minutes was enough to do the trick.
