This achievement is relatively easy, you simply have one tank on your home boat, two tanks on the opposing boat.
With this setup we (alliance) had two healers on our boat, three on the other boat. Melee on the Horde boat with priority on the Mage's of course, then rocket launcher's (goblins), and lastly the axe throwers. We kept ranged on our boat and had them in cannons, AoEing the adds on our ship, and single targeting Axe Throwers from the edge.
The only thing that makes this strat difficult is the fact that tanks need to rotate between being in Melee range of Saurfang, and letting him throw at them. If tanks spend too much time at range, the bleed stack on them gets to be too much damage to heal through. If the tanks spend too much time in melee (especially when Saurfang has a lot of stacks of his buff) they can get one shot by the cleave. Now, one easy fix (which is what we did) is have our warrior tank Saurfang at range until his bleed had stacked enough to be considered unsafe (I believe we agreed this was 10 stacks). At this point our feral druid (in tank gear) would go into bear form and taunt Saurfang, staying in melee range just long enough to get enough aggro not to get healers gibbed, then tanking at range until the warriors' bleed fell off. Warrior would taunt back, druid would go back to DPSing.

Only use them once to board the ship and once to leave the ship.
This achievement is incredibly simple to perform.
First, do not send anyone over to the enemy ship until the guns have been frozen for the first time. Once they have been frozen, send over your enemy gunship team (typically a tank and some melee). The tank should pull the enemy boss to the edge of the ship so that healers can heal without leaving the friendly gunship. The DPS should kill the battle-mage and then the rocketeers. Axethrowers are the last in line for the enemy-ship team to kill, as ranged on the friendly ship can hit them.
This team will stay on the enemy ship until either the enemy boss is hitting too hard (30ish stacks) or until another two battle-mages have been killed (3 battle-mages total). At this point, the first enemy-ship team will leave, with the tank being last.
Next, you, once again, wait for the guns to freeze. At this point, your second tank and your second enemy gunship team (your ranged dps) board the enemy gunship. Repeat the above steps. Melee on your friendly ship will have to be very careful when DPSing the sergeants, as they have a nasty whirlwind.
Note: Your second team should not board the enemy gunship until the boss' buff stacks have expired.
So, to recap
:
Two gunship teams
-- one tank and a selection of melee (6-7); one tank and a selection of ranged (6-7).
The first team boards the enemy ship once the guns have frozen. They kill the first battle-mage, followed by rocketeers and axe-throwers. They kill the second battle-mage. If the tank damage is healable, they kill a third battle-mage. They leave the ship directly after the third battle-mage, with the tank being the last to leave.
The second team boards the enemy ship once the guns have been frozen after the first team has returned. They stay on the ship either until the fight is over, or until the expected final cannon freeze.
Alternative things to consider: Your 4 cannon players can switch places with 4 members of your first enemy-ship team. This allows more flexibility with certain raid comps.

We did this achievement last night on the first try - and it is very easy in fact.
Had 4 groups consisting of 1xTank and 3xDPS(anything that can take a short while beating in plate works as a tank).
4 players were assigned with the cannons.
Just send 1 group over for each mage, make sure to use the cannons properly(no overheating, high heat dumping) and the ship will go down before the 5th mage easily.

any other raids out there who didn't get this achi cause it bugged? did it tonight and our raidleaders were observing if anything went wrong or somebody jumped twice but everything seemed ok. had 2 groups with 1tank 4dds each jump over and did it before the 5th mage showed up. a healpriest died at the very beginning of the fight and our second tank was killed by bronzebeard. cant be that deaths count as fail -.-

There's a much simpler strat to doing these achievements.
If there is no one in melee range of Saurfang/Muradin they will begin using an ability called
Rending Throw
. Neither the DoT or the initial hit scale with Battle Fury (their damage buff). The DoT only lasts 18 seconds so two tanks can swap aggro with taunts to let the stack drop, which is usually around 10 stacks or so. On initial aggro Muradin will run into melee range and will continue to do so against that target. However, if aggro changes to another target at range for whatever reason he will simply stand there,
rooted in place,
and throw axes at you.
It's actually a lot easier to heal the bleed damage over the melee damage to boot. Just use three tanks and position two on the enemy railing for taunt swapping Muradin. So long as no one steals aggro (generally a good idea to let the first tank build some threat before the second one taunts at range) everyone can permanently stay on the enemy gunship.
EDIT: Ok, why are people downvoting this? It's a valid strat and one I do every single week.

Tried this last night and didn't get the achievement; 4 groups with 1 tank 3 DPS in each. No one used their rocket pack more than twice (once there, once back), no one used any immunity effects (iceblock, bubble, etc). Seems to be bugged.
There definitely does seem to be an issue here; but some numb-nut keeps down-voting these posts instead of making a positive contribution. In fact my previous post on the matter has even been purged; I asked if there's a way to tell when someone's on the other boat (perhaps by checking bebuffs) .
The fact is; we have a few people reporting not getting the achievement - despite nothing obvious going wrong on the way to getting the achievement. This implies it is bugged in some way.
It has been suggested that multiple (more than 2) uses of rocket packs causes this to bug.
This may seem plausible because Blizz needs something to monitor in order award the achievment.
However, such a mechanism would be far too error-prone (an extra rocket use for whatever reason); and I find it highly unlikely Blizz would have checked the achievement in that manner.
Furthermore, as per the second quote; no one used their rocket packs more than twice, and they still didn't get the achievement.
I think it is far more likely that the achievement is linked to a range aura of some form on the second boat. This implies the following possibilities to cause it to bug out...
A player DCing on the enemy boat could cause the aura to be applied a second time as they relog.
An error defining the range/positioning of the aura could cause it to incorrectly drop off while on the other boat.
There may also be latency issues affecting whether the positioning of toons is correctly identified.
However, having said all this, don't let it worry you too much; if the achievement does bug out one week; you're almost certain to get it the next. (We did :) )

I just did this achievement just tonight and we found a very easy way to do it. It is possible to do this without getting hit much at all. On the back of the enemy ship behind the boss there is a raised up area that looks like a large banister, you can jet pack onto this, Saurfang will run to the closest side up the ramp after you, simply jet down when he gets close if your timing and positioning is right he will run all the way around the back of the ship then back up. Repeat as needed.
He'll randomly start throwing axes at you(happened on 1st attempt, but not on the 2nd successful attempt) All I did was move into melee for a sec, he stopped and I was right back to jet packing around.
The melee team can stay on the ship the whole time, in between mages they should waste the axe throwers, only one tank with a little cordination is needed. After a minute or two of practice I was able to get him to drop his stacks entirely. Had one tank healer up on this banister with me to keep me alive but done right it is possible for him to never touch you.
This is an alliance strat. Not sure what the make up of the ship looks like from the horde point of view, being the oponents and ships are based on faction.

This can be done on heroic mode. (Alliance PoV, a "traditional" strategy)
Set up 3 dps groups. Group 1 goes to the other side when mage 1 spawns and stays there until they kill mage 2. Then they go back to their own boat. Group 2 goes to kill mage 3 and stays there until they have killed mage 4. Group 3 kills mages 5 & 6. Before mage 7 the fight should be over. Actually we even didn't get the 6th mage.
We had 3 tanks: tank1 (warrior) was tanking with G1, tank2 (warrior) tanked with G2, tank3 (paladin) tanked with G3, logical.
The dps on the horde boat were helping with the axe-throwers, cannons were killing the rocketeers. Really simple and easy. This was with the +15% health/damage/healing buff, so it will of course just get easier.

No idea if this is intentional or not but the enemy gunship will be dead before the third guy comes out of the portal. Total face roll--you don't even need to jump.

Update: just shoot the horde ship as you sit on the cannon to get the achievement. Spam 1 & 2 and you're good.
