Every 25% HP interval, X-002 Deconstructors heart becomes exposed and adds are spawned, amonst them some
XE-321 Boombots
and many
XS-013 Scrapbots
which will move towards X-002. When a Boombot reaches the 002 or is at 50% HP, it
self-destructs
, causing AoE damage to all nearby units, both friend and foe. This damage (95% to 105% of weapon damage, the tooltip is incorrect) is greater then the health of the Scrapbots, so clever rooting and coordinated killing of Boombots can be used to reach the required kill count.

Prerequisite: It will be extremely difficult (rare) to get this achievement if you do not at least have DPS to kill a heart as chaining 2-3 heart phases back to back is
highly
recommended, if not required, to reduce RNG failures. The objective demands a a fairly rare occurrence: 20 scrapbots up at once with a boombot, all within close proximity of each other. Kill the boombot and its explosion will likely destroy all the scrapbots near it all in one shot. There is a 12 second time limit on this so it's not possible to kill 5-10 scrapbots using this method during each heart phase.
Note: RNG is a painful factor in getting this. If your DPS is exceptional and can get Must Deconstruct Faster basically every time, then you should consider getting a 3rd heart phase in a row. The way I suspect that this works is 3-5 waves spawn each add phase. They can be either: A) 1 Pummeler, B) 5-10 scrapbots, C) Boom Bot + a few scrap bots. You can probably imagine that you can easily get screwed over on RNG. If you are purposely going for this, you will /facepalm when you see Pummelers spawn. You will likely need many attempts to get this achievement.
Strategy
Positioning: Tank XT between 2 piles either on the left or right, against the wall, rather on the stairs. This makes it much more likely that bots spawn in the far 2 scrap piles unless Blizzard makes a change.
Special assignment: Assign people to leave AoE slowing effects down near the far scrap piles to prevent the first heart phase spawns to not be so far ahead of the 2nd heart phase bots. Shamans (healer pref, as there's nothing to heal when chaining heart phases) and Hunters can quickly ghost wolf or aspect of the pack over once the first heart phase begins.
Process: Get XT down to 75% to trigger the first heart phase. Damage the heart down until it's 5% or less before it goes back up, but don't finish it off. Get XT down under 50% and trigger a second heart phase ASAP (should already be under 50% if you get the heart to 1%, which reduces XT's HP by ~33%). Hopefully, RNG was nice enough to spawn at least 20 scrapbots, 1 boombot, and no pummelers. Everyone, but the MT and MT healers, should now focus on bots, using a combination of whatever you have at your disposal: piercing howl, thunderstorm, frost nova, death grip, charge/intercept stun, chains of ice, etc to control the pack of bots (preferably relying on the more reliable abilities). If they are not controlled well and get close to the "converge point" (where the funnel together close to XT) without being grouped up well, you can possibly have a druid taunt XT and cat sprint kite XT along the outside walls to buy a little time. Beware that you still have to deal with light and gravity bombs.
If all goes well, congrats, you have just earned an achievement for playing the add spawn lotto and getting <scrapbots> <scrapbots> <scrapbots> <boombot> and playing with XT's toys and getting them to all go boom at once.
Addendum: Despite what was written on Wowhead's XT page, boombots *don't* follow normal aggro tables and beeline for XT. They do not self destruct or get sucked up by XT. You must kill them and they explode on death and instantly kill near scrapbots no matter how much health they have. They have 50.4k HP and have a 10 yard explosion radius.

Its really easy to get the "
Nerf Scrapbots
" achievement now, not so easy to get the boss down. :D As silly numbers of the bots and bombs are spawning.
Get this achievement easy now, before Blizz patch it (if it is a bug).
EDIT: It was a bug and has now been hotfixed.

I got this last night 10.12.2011.
What we did was: we had 3 mages, 3 hunters and 1 shaman ccing the bots.
Deconstructor was tanked in the middle of the room where we triggered the first heart phase. we nuked the heart to 10% so we could instantly trigger the second. When he exposed his heart the second time noone touched it.
After the second heart phase we kited him around the room alitte so we would gain controll of the bots. when every1 was bunched up we triggered the 3 heart phase. We did not touch the heart this time either but we did this to make sure we had enough bots.
Then it was just to kite him around again and wait for the bots to bunch up and just shoot down the bombbots. make sure you dont touch the scrapbots.
It took as a few tries before we got it right becouse of the earthquake and everything. som dont take any chances.

Biggest PITA by far till HEROIC RAG, took endless weeks to finally get a it done. Comp: 2 healers, 1 tank, 2 warr dps, 3 frost mages, 1 hunter, got 40+ bots after 3 heartphases, got all group in middle and 2 bombs did the trick.

After reading many posts regarding this ridiculously hard achievement, this is the way I got it last night.
Keys to this fight:
Boss Group
: 6-7 players including 1 healer and tank.
* You need the melee group to have very swift but precise control over their damage.
* Remind MDPS dots will continue ticking so they need to do HARD stops when asked to.
* Killing the heart at any point or burning through the boss will stop spawning the required Scrapbots.
Adds Groups
: 10-15 CCers + 2 healers
* RDPS - in any combination: at least 10 Hunters/Mages/Shamans for Frost Traps, Frost Nova, and Earthbind Totems.
* RDPS that can slow or CC withOUT hurting the Scrapbots are exclusively on these adds.
* Druids can root when called out to, but in much more limited amounts so don't count on them for the group closest to boss.
* RDPS need to be naked so their damage can scale down.
Execution:
1. Tank, melee, and healer on platform hugging portal.
2. Have the tank call out the heart and boss health DPS pattern.
Boss 77% HP > Heart 15% > Boss 57% HP > Heart 15% > Boss 27 % HP > Heart 15%
3. Corners closest to boss need 3 RDPS CCing on each group.
4. Corners closest to door need 2 RPDS CCing on each group.
5. In each RDPS group have a person call out when the adds spawn.
6. Once you have all 20 Scrapbots, RDPS should single target kill the Boom Bots that look like big walking bombs at the same time.
7. Kill the boss.
If you're still having problems, I highly suggest you take a
full group
that is ranged heavy (or no less than 19 people). Mages, hunters, and shamans will be your best friends. Take your time filling out your group. Do not try to zerg through this achievement. I followed this, and our group got it on our second attempt once we were 24 people. Also,
VENT is vital for this fight
. Good luck and have fun!

Finally managed to get this done last night, definitely one of the hardest achievements in the game.
Composition:
1 Death Knight, 2 Frost Mages
Mages Spec into Cold snap (Three effective freezes with Water Elemental)
Death Knight specs into Gorefiend's Grasp to clump up the bots.
Execution:
Tank XT at the left or right wall between two piles of rubble
Invoke heart phase, nuke it to around fifty percent (You'll want to force two successive heart phases)
Depending on RNG, you will want to see bots spawning at the opposite wall (Ignore adjacent spawns)
Mages focus on freezing bots in the center (careful not to kill them)
When the second heart phase is active, Get the DK to round up the bots using Gorefiend's Grasp
Focus quickly on killing the boom bots and hopefully you will be done. If not, reset and try again.

Finally managed to solo this as an Affliction Warlock today after a few hours of testing. I completed the 10 man version last week so thought I'd give this a go this week.
The way to soloing this as a warlock relies heavily on RNG of the spawns. You need a perfect run of spawns at the same scrap pile (which for me took around 2 hours of attempts).
Before you begin, take the CoEx glyph and Shadowfury talents. Engage and tank the boss in a corner with the Voidlord. Burst all CDs at the start to do as much damage as possible (don't use the Doomguard though as he'll probably come and attack the adds at the transition). If you get the boss below 65% before the heart comes out you've done okay. When the heart appears, DoT it up and set the Voidlord on it to effectively bring the boss below 50% when the heart transition ends (obviously don't kill the heart). This ensures you get two continuous heart phases in a row.
Now onto the RNG part. Over the course of the two heart phases you need around 4-6 Boombot/Scrapbot spawns all from the same scrap pile (preferably the far but adjacent one to where you're tanking as this will streamline the adds). This is very RNG and could take many attempts just to get this combo. If you don't think you've got a good combo, you can reset by placing your portal outside the door before the fight and teleporting out to reset. If you do get a good combo, use Shadowfury on CD to stun the adds in place and use SB:CoEx as often as required to 70% snare all the adds ensuring you hit the maximum amount of targets possible. After many spawns you will have a lot of targets running towards the boss hopefully clumped together and snared. Once you're confident the Boombots will kill as many Scraptbots as possible, kill all the Boombots you can see - each Scrapbot takes two Boombot explosions to kill them. If you're successful congrats on the achievement, if not, just reset and go again.
This is not a clean tactic as it is very heavily RNG based but if you want to solo the achievement this is a method that will work with patience. Good luck.

Extremely easy to solo as a Survival Hunter... though do not mistake "easy" for quick and painless - as many have said, it is heavily RNG dependent and you will probably find yourself resetting at least a few times. In all honesty though, if you have a semi-geared hunter that can easily push 2 consecutive heart phases, I would probably recommend this class over all others for the achievement.
诱捕

险境求生

and
too, and I'll explain why in a moment.
既定之天命
is incredibly useful because it interacts with Disengage, allowing you to use it more frequently. Of course the higher iLevel the better, but ultimately the difference from an LFR to Heroic Warforged is not going to make or break you here.
Unequip any Cleave trinkets and your legendary cloak before pulling.
I screwed up a perfectly good attempt because of a badly timed cloak proc, and I was extremely bitter for the next 45 minutes.
When you begin the pull, move the boss over toward one of the piles, I preferred using the Northeastern pile, as close up against it as I could manage. Pop cool-downs at about 75%, so you can do as much damage as you can between his RP and the Heart phase. Putting some extra pressure on the heart before adds start spawning is helpful as well. Make sure that you spam Misdirect on your pet via the use of Macros, and you assign the pet to stand in the corner. After XT recovers, he might take a few seconds to transition again and he could move out of position. Ensuring your pet is in the correct location and he has top threat will prevent this.
RNG is going to be the biggest factor now, ideally most of the adds will spawn in the Northwest and Southwest corner, but do not get discouraged if one or two sets spawn in the Southeast.
You will want to pick the area with the most adds (unless it is the Southeast pile) and that will be your main focus. Do everything you can to keep them clustered as much as possible - Freezing Trap and even Snake Trap are handy. As long as you poke the heart after the Snake trap procs, most likely the snakes will go toward the heart (and not kill your adds), but the Root effect from Entrapment will still be in place. Of course, disengage on CD once the other roots expire, prioritizing the front of the line so that any stragglers can bunch back up with the rest, and Binding Shot to keep the front of the pack busy and let those in the back line up.
Immolation Trap, glyphed for the Knockback, should be used in an
attempt
to knock some WAY out of the way toward the main group, but this is mostly for a last resort and should not be relied on. The adds are a bit buggy and aren't necessarily synced properly from client/server, I learned this the hard way when I was having issues trapping/rooting adds right beside me - and noticed they jumped back far when successfully rooted. Do not drop these in the main group, as it is more likely to do more harm than good.
Once the adds start to get close to the boss (for me, when they were approaching the end of the staircase closest to the boss) DPS the bomb-bots
specifically
. Do note that the bombs
do not 1-shot
the adds in 25 as they do in 10, so any bombs away from the group probably aren't going to help. Blowing up multiple bombs in 1 group will give credit, and if you are fortunate enough, you'll get the achievement!
If you get too unlucky or make a mistake, simply dismiss your pet and Feign Death... just make sure to do it closer to the door. Unlike most bosses that despawn upon reset, XT will run back to his original pull point, and can easily be pulled again once you stand back up.
All in all, if you are well coordinated, a hunter trivializes this achievement. You're far more likely to reset due to poor add-spawning RNG than your own mistakes.

Did this one really easy just recently (Patch 5.4).
Nuke the heart phase (Don't kill the heart) and XT will spawn scraptbots along with boombots and some other adds which I can't recall what their names are. But just kill them off.
Use different ccs to slow the bots down. We used Mages and Hunter. Important not to kill them since they have really low hp. And tell them to take off the Legendary cloak if they have one.
Depending on where they spawn you might have to kite XT a little bit.
Nuke XT to heart phase 2 more times and enough scraptbots should have spawned. Then kill off Boombots WITH SINGLE TARGET attacks so you dont accidently kill any scrapbots.
And you should have the achievement in ur hand.
Good luck / Moondrip, Twilight's Hammer

A strat that worked out very well for me:
Composition: 1+ DKs, 4+ Druids, optional Mages, optional Hunters, and some extra tanks/dps for the boss.
Prerequisites: Everybody unequips stuff that cleaves, including legendary capes, trinkets, etc. Frost Mages should have water elementals out but on passive. All mages should take the Ring of Frost talent. DKs should have the Gorefiend's Grasp talent. Hunters will use their Ice Trap.
Marks: Put a red marker between the two scrap piles on the right. Put green marker on one of the piles to the left. Put blue marker on one of the other piles to the left.
Groups: Put 2 Druids on green and 2 Druids on blue. Put a DK on each, or just have one go back and forth between the two. Split mages and hunters between green and blue. Split any healers between all three markers. Put everybody else on red.
(1) Red team pulls the boss and kites him to red before burning. Then, burn the boss to 25% as fast as possible but WITHOUT killing the heart. Partial heart damage can speed things up, but it shouldn't be necessary. Stop dps once the boss enters the third heart phase at 25%.
(2) Any adds that come from the piles next to red should be left alone. Let the boss eat them. If any are killed, it starts the timer and can fail the achievement even if you later get it right. (The big adds can be killed.)
(3) Kill any big adds coming from green or blue, taking care not to cleave. Don't dps any boombots or scrapbots AT ALL.
(4) When a back of boombots/scrapbots comes out of green or blue, they will head in a straight line toward the boss. They must not reach him. The DK should use Gorefiend's Grasp to clump them together. (Note: Do NOT use Death Grip.) The two druids should alternate using Mass Entangle, such that Mass Entangle is cast approximately every 15 seconds. If this timing is right, the adds won't get far, but if they do, Frost Mages can use their elemental's Freeze as a backup root, and Hunters can use Ice Trap as a backup slow. Sometimes solitary scrapbots get away, in which case mages/hunters can try to slow them down, but don't worry too much about strays: if a couple get away, just let them go. If you have other rooting tools at your raid's disposal, go ahead and use them PROVIDED you are absolutely sure they do no damage whatsoever.
(5) If any scrapbot packs spawn after the first from each trash pile, leave them alone until they catch up with the first group, then Gorefiend's Grasp them together with the others so they can be rooted by the druids.
(6) It takes TWO boombots to kill the nearby scrapbots, so once you have enough scrapbots clumped together with at least TWO boombots -- minimum 20, but try to get more for a buffer -- then the raid leader should call this out. At this time, everybody SINGLE-TARGET and kill all the boombots.
If you fail, you have to wipe to try again. As others have said, there is a little RNG involved, as sometimes not enough scrapbots will spawn from the green and blue piles. Depending on your group's composition, you might prefer to burn the boss up the stairs and try to capture the adds from all four scrap piles; however, I found this strategy to much harder UNLESS you have a few extra DKs and Druids from what I've called for here, because the shortened distance between the scrap piles and the boss gives you less room for error.
I highly recommend being on vent for this, as otherwise it is more difficult to coordinate the alternation of Mass Entangle and sync up on when to kill the boombots.

Easy mode: Get a frost mage to just cc. Have them remove all gear so their cc doesn't kill adds. With Ring of Frost talented, it was a blast with SIX slows/roots.... Blizzard, Cone of Cold, Frost Nova, Pet Freeze, Deep Freeze, Ring of Frost... so OP. And I'm not even counting frostbolt for the strays.
Have the other person deal with boss and nuking the right adds.
Very little confusion.
Felt pure in a way.
Try it if you're having problems.

I think I made an interesting discovery on this one. I was trying to solo this and after failing multiple times I just started kiting XT and making him run over the bomb bots and scrap bots, as I did this i noticed my counter for the achievement was going up.
It still failed because there wasn't enough scrap bots up but, on my next attempt I did the same thing, only I made sure he spawned more adds first. Then, just like the earlier attempt I just made him run over the scrap/bomb bots, and sure enough I got the achievement.
I'm not sure why this worked but I'm not gonna question it. Hope this helps anyone who still needs it.

I just soloed it on 25m :)))
(16.08.2014.)
Character:
Anbuhq - Draenor
Retribution paladin
(578ilvl)
Screenshot:
http://oi62.tinypic.com/303a9tk.jpg
So here's what I did
1.
Pulled the boss while on my mount, dragged him on the scrap pile in the top-left corner
2.
Nuked him asap to get him in the heart phase
3.
When the heart was out, I got
LUCKY
(after 9-10 attempts) and the boss threw all of his blue orbs on the same spot, that spot was on the other side of the room (top-right corner). That way, I had more time kiting him before the mobs reached him.
Don't touch the heart because we want the heart phase to last as usual.
4.
After the heart phase was finished, I was already in the lower-left corner waiting for the boss to come near me and do his AOE thingy (earthquake something)
5.
When he finished his AOE, I pulled him in the lower-right part of the room, that way all the mobs were already near each other and in single line, then I just ran in to them so he walked across them and I got my 20/20 :)
So basically, you just need to get lucky and have him throw all the blue orbs that summon the mobs in the same spot.
Hope that this helped!
Good luck guys!

After many attempts I finally managed to get the achievement and kill
I did this as a retribution paladin 535 iL
On my first go I tried doing what Anbuhq suggested. I managed to get 17/20. It then took 2 hours to get it
1. Clear trash before engaging boss (Derp)
2. Pull the boss into the top left corner (as you enter the room)
3. Save all cool downs, nuke to 75%
4. When heart plops out nuke it 20% or just above (do not kill it or he goes hard mode)
5. He will now be around 55% so you should also still have your cooldowns up, nuke him into 50% and he will expose his heart and spawn more adds.
~~ add this stage either run away towards the entrance or bring the heart to 20% again if you believe you'll need more adds (I didnt, you shouldn't but RNG) ~~
6. When he becomes 'active' pull him between the set of scrapbots heading towards him. Too far o one side and he won't eat them all and you may not get the achievement.
7. All scrapbots get eaten and you get your achievement and everyone's a winner except for X2
Good luck,
Sky

I did this one and the 10-player one within 30 minutes of each other with 0 CC/pet, about 2-3 attempts each. It's so easy it'll blow your mind.
The following is assumed:
Class without snares or CC that can run quickly. I was a Rogue, talented into burst of speed.
1. Park XT on top of one of the back piles, left or right. For the sake of example, assume left.
2. Push him into heart phase + some. Ideally, he should be sub-50 or sub-60 (25) when entering heart phase. This was a little difficult for me, as an ilv500 rogue.
3. Push heart to near-10%. This ensures he immediately enters a 2nd heart phase.
Now here's the "skill" part:
4. You just walk to the other side of the room. Position yourself in such a way that XT will actually run
past
all of the bomb bots without hitting any of them. This location will change depending on which piles he activates. Sometimes, it will be at the near pile. Other times, it will be at the entrance. Finally, it could also be at one of the far piles.
5. He runs past all the bomb bots/scrap bots, to you. Don't worry if he ate a few of the scraps.
6. Kite him further away (ideally, AROUND) the bomb bots. This will cause all of the bots to lump up a bit closer to each other in the center of the room. Your goal is to get him AS FAR AWAY FROM THE BOTS AS POSSIBLE.
(Obviously there is some RNG here -- you need him to actually spawn enough bots and they need to ideally be coming from one of the far corners, or, at least near-spawned bots need to be spawned last. However, on my successful attempts, I blew up 30+ bombs, so maybe I just had really good luck.)
7. He will use tantrum. This is crucial. This parks him in one corner of the room while all the bots come closer to him and pile up. This corner is typically the OPPOSITE from the corner where you originally parked him. So,
if you originally parked him in the back left
, he is now tantrumming at the
front right
.
8. During tantrum, you simply run past the bots. He will chase you THROUGH the bots, blowing them all up himself and giving you the achieve.
Easy. Should take no more than 20 min.

This is how I did it, no slows, no CC and almost no movement involved.
1.Pull XT to the top of the scrap pile to the top left corner.
It's important that he is as far up as you can take him, even 10 yards further down and you will have the Scrapbots and Boombots crash into him as he stands up after second heart phase.
2. DPS him to 50% so that you get two back to back heart phases.
If you are unable to do this before the first heart phase just damage the heart, it takes 100% more damage, just be careful so that you don't get him under 25% as that will trigger three heart phases in a row.
3. During the first heart phase, watch where the Scrapbots are spawning from (you can see XT cast a lightning ball at the location). Ideally you want to have both groups of Scrapbots coming from the other side of the room. If you are a class or race (night elf) that can easily reset the encounter, I recommend resetting the encounter until you get the ideal spawn during the first heart phase. If not you can still try if you get at least one group on the other side, though it becomes harder and more luck based.
4. After the first heart phase with a bit of luck, you will have groups of Scrapbots coming from the other side. Unless you have a very wide AoE-slow or root I recommend just standing still, abilities that doesn't hit all will just cause problems down the line. There should be enough time for XT to go trough two heart phases without these reaching him.
5. When the second heart phase starts, start moving to the scrap pile in the top right corner. When he exits the second heart phase he should be rushing towards you killing everything in his path. If there are Scrapbots coming from the side of the lower right corner you can simply move yourself a bit so he hits those as well.
It may take some times to get the correct spawn locations, but doing it like this you should be able to complete the achievement in just a few tries.

Soloing this is 90% RNG.
On 25 man, the Scrapbots require the explosion of two Boombots to be defeated. Sometimes.
Cronien posted a video above that makes me want to tear my eyes out -- he makes it look so simple. I have been doing this for over 2 hours and the closest I've come is 17/20. I've had XT run over 5 closely bundled groups of bots and only get 4 bots counted toward the achievement. That game, I had XT spawn bots from one corner the entire game, I slowed them with my elemental frost nova to group them up a couple of times. 4 bots.
The strategy is there, I guess. But prepare to be annoyed.

Some (unholy) Death Knight specific advice:
This one is trickier to do than the 10-man counterpart due to player-killed boombots not one-shotting scrapbots. I found that a good tactic is to use Gorefiend's Grasp to grab two complete groups of mobs together and kill two boombots in a row. This will get you around 8-12 kills, all depending on RNG of course. The strategy is the same as described in other comments.
Here are the steps that worked best for me:
(keep in mind that this is still heavily RNG-based, but I felt I had the most control this way)
1. Position XT like in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=ISCWmH64RNY
2. DPS to <50% to ensure two back-to-back heart phases. I let the ghoul do the damage until 75% to allow it to keep aggro.
3. First heart phase: run around and manage groups that spawn.
- Grip boombots slightly in front of their accompanying scrapbot packs.
- If the first pack spawns from the closest scrap pile, just kill it off with blood boil to avoid it messing up the timing.
4. Second heart phase: look for a scrap pile that spawns two groups in a row. This is when you want to use Gorefiend's Grasp to pull them all together. You may also use death grip to help with getting both boombots in range of Gorefiend's Grasp if it's off cooldown.
(If this is comprised of the very last two groups that spawn, you may find yourself tight on time, especially if the second group in the first heart phase spawned from the closest pile.)
5. Wait for XT to re-activate and pop the first boombot. Once that happens, kill both boombots in the pile you just formed yourself by means of single target damage, such as Icy Touch.
6. If necessary, position yourself so XT takes the best route towards you and runs into as many boombots as possible.

After Patch 6 came out Pre-MoP content got nerfed pretty hard, and this achievement is much easier now. It can be soloed quite easily with any class once you figured out how things work.
Tank the boss in the upper left corner on top of the scrap pile as you enter its room, this will net you some extra time which will be quite precious. Slowly take the boss down to 80-85% and then burst him down to below 50% (anything above 25% is fine). The reason you want below 50%, but not lower than 25% is that you don't want a third Heart Phase triggering. Alternatively, if you don't have good gear, you can just damage the heart down to 30%, don't accidentally kill it though!
Anyway, after that is done you'll go through two Heart Phases. This will spawn a lot of Boom Bots and Scrap Bots, you can just kill the big robots if you wish. When the second Heart Phase is about to end position yourself between the upper right and lower right corners (again from entrance perspective), this way when the boss runs to you, he will run into the Boom Bots and Scrap Bots, this will make the Boom Bots explode and kill the nearby Scrap Bots (as opposed to killing 2 Boom Bots to kill all Scrap Bots). Using this method you won't have to have a huge group of Scrap Bots with multiple Boom Bots nearby. RNG plays a factor in this, if you get many adds in the lower left corner, or just too many big robots, the achievement will fail. However, it's much less dependent on luck compared to other methods/strategies others are suggesting.
Best of luck to you all!

Alright, this works easy at level 100 in 10 or 25 and any class, however it is extremely random. It can be as easy as a single attempt or as annoying as 20+ attempts.
0) Before doing this, remember RNG means random. Random is random. Now proceed.
1) Mount pull boss all the way up the junk pile in the northwest or top left corner.
2) DPS boss to 49% health before it can drop the heart, boss goes into heart phase 1 & 2 in a row. Stop DPS.
3) You will see the boss launch purple orbs towards the junk piles, it is pretty much mandatory that the two farthest junk piles are targetted for scrapbot spawning.
4) Once the boss gets out of the second heart phase, make sure you have the train of scrapbots running towards the boss between you and the boss, the boss will come after you and watch as you get 20/20 scrapbots as the boss runs 'em over, providing enough of them spawned.
5) Achievement Completed.
If you didn't get enough scrapbots just feign death/shadowmeld/escape whatever, restart. It took me 15 tries in 25-man to get enough scrapbots, and 5 tries in 10 man. It's extremely random.

For level 100.
This guide will only be focused on one class, because I believe they have the best advantage in this fight. My advice is to attempt this on a
monk
. If you're
Brewmaster
you'll be able to establish great control over the ads with
Dizzying Haze
. As you may already have realised from reading other guides, this will extremely tough without lucky spawns. But if you have crowd control, you won't be as dependent on it.
The basics:
Play as a BM monk. Begin by kiting him to the upper-left scrap pile upon which he will stand for his first and second heart drop (p2, p3). Once there, get him down to 50% before he drops his heart for the first time. This will mean bursting from 75%-50% or less. You leave his heart alive to allow ads to spawn. Only the boom bots and scrap bots are important. You'll need them to spawn at the other side of the room in order for this to work. When they spawn, slow the first waves of bots with
Dizzying Haze
, with the ultimate goal of making as many bots arrive lined up at the same time at the boss, at the same time his 3rd phase ends (NOT before). Then position yourself between the ads and XT, so that he will run towards you and stomp every single one of them. If there are enough bots between you and him, and if he absorbs them at a similar time, you'll earn the achievement.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Guide
Initiate the fight and kite him to the scrap pile in the upper left corner. Once there, begin to gather chi in order to burst him from 75% to 50% or less. When he's nearly 75%, pop
Serenity
with 4 chi (talent) and spam him down to sub 50%. This method will initiate phase 2 where he drops his heart (75%).
You won't and shan't damage it, because it will only spawn the required ads as long as its alive.
Instantly after p2, phase 3 (50%) will begin.
Initiating the phases directly after each other will spawn more mobs.
Now you'll need the bots to spawn at the other side of the room. If not, your chances will be
severely
diminished. The goal here isn't to kill 20 of the small ones manually, since it's impossible to earn the achievement that way. Nor is the plan to set off the bombs and try to kill the scrapbots that way.
Instead, you'll let the boss kill them for you by running into them, absorbing them. To do this, we'll have to slow the bots with the goal of making them arrive at XT at the same time, or at least as close as possible. This will mean slowing the first waves thoroughly, but leave the later waves at a normal speed in order to catch up.
Their distance from the boss isn't the only important factor here, but also how close the actual bombs are to the ads.
They need to be within reach of the smaller bots in order for them to die from the explosion triggered by the bombs death (absorbtion by XT).
You want to line up all the bot packs between you and the boss, so that when he exits his third phase he will run across the waves of mobs in order to reach you, killing them in the process. This usually means standing somewhere between the lower and upper right piles, albeit closer to the stairs than the wall.
If enough ads are lined up between you, and if they're all absorbed at a similar time rather than far away from each other, you should get the achievement.
You WON'T have to kill him to earn it, so if you do not in fact make it because of errors or bad luck, you can always start again by stealthing, dying or sometimes walking out of the gate (which isn't always)
Hope this helps!

Soloing this as Brewmaster
武僧
is easier than most classes and requires much less RNG. I was able to solo it in just a few attempts and ended up getting 35 scrapbots in the allotted time.
The reason it is so simple for brew is
迷醉酒雾
. A ranged aoe slow that can be spammed on multiple groups.
Like other classes I took him on top of a junk pile and then burned him below 50% quickly. then I ran across the room saving my rolls and speed boosts for later.
He then begins shooting sparks at junk piles. quickly as I could, I crossed the room longways and spammed
迷醉酒雾
on the leading groups of bombbot / scrapbots coming from each pile on the far end ignoring the one close junk pile.
Because of the 50% movement reduction of dizzying haze being spammed at the front of the lines of bots, you end up with two huge clusters of scrapbots and bombots from the two piles. Then simply kite him to run over them and achievement earned. Saving rolls and any speed boosts helps for moving him between clusters quickly, but wasn't necessary.
Also one more tip don't forget to set your transcendence outside of the room in case you mess up and need to quickly reset. If you forget, the quickest reset other than that is to join a premade custom group and then quit which will port you outside to the graveyard.
EDIT: As of legion prepatch brew no longer has Keg Toss for 0 dmg AoE slow...But the general concept of how to do it still stands so I will leave the comment around.

My own experience of trying for this repeatedly met with so little success with hoping for the right combination of packs of bots, to then also arrive at the correct time.
Ultimately what worked for me was similar in startup to the other guides, e.g. pull XT over to the far left pile from when you enter his room; knock him to below 50% to trigger 2 heart phases - thus spawning the packs.
However, where I differed at this stage - and what worked for me - is kiting XT around and pulling him around the packs of bots, dodging them to keep them alive. Then, when I had moved him around sufficiently so that the packs from the various piles were roughly equal distance from XT I just sat there and let them come to me.
This method relies much less on RNG and more on a bit of distance judgement to make it happen. There is still the possibility that the piles will spawn the big guys and not a pack of bots, so the RNG God(s) may still hate you.
I didn't use any speed boosts or slows so this should work for all classes.

At level 100 and above you really need a class with a slow that does not do damage to ensure that adds will just be reaching XT as he leaves his second heart phase. It makes this a LOT easier and controlled.
I did it with an arcane mage using Slow on the packs until the Boom Bot would lead and hit just before the Scrap Bots were sucked in. I had at least 25 bots explode while the achievement needs only 20.

You can safely kill all the trash inside the boss room
For this achievement we were 4, but i think we could have managed to do it as 3. We had one lvl 110 to tank the boss at the north west pile of scraps while facing the boss towards the room. She got the boss down to less than 50% (more than 40%). She stripped and only had her weapons. The rest of us were lvl 120, one rogue, one windwalker monk and one balance druid. The druid rooted the mobs and monk used ring of peace to get the mobs closer together.
We tried to get the boombots to explode at the boss and kill the scrapbots there, but failed multiple times. Then, by accidentally single target and kill one of the boombots, we found out that the explosion from the boombots killed the scrapbots and counted towards the achievement. So what we did was rooting and stunning the scrapbots and boombots until we had enough scrapbots, and then we just spread out and single targeted the boombots so they killed the scrapbots.
You get the achievement before you kill the boss, so if you fail then you can just reset it by vanishing or feigning death. When we tracked the achievement, it started the timer when the first scrapbot was killed.
Note: Only the one tanking the boss has to vanish/feign death to reset unless you use abilities like ox statue for brewmaster monk or someone else aggroes the boss. The ox statue didnt taunt the bots, so its no point in using since it prevents the reset of the boss (the boss goes for the statue when the one damaging it vanishes). We did reset when using the staute by having the monk HS out.
Note2: With this method we experienced that the bots would just continue spawning, so when we had Pummelers spawn it didnt really have an impact on the fight. You can either ignore them or kill them.

Is this achievement still possible? A few years ago they set Ulduar to only be 10 man due to timewalking, so I have no way to set the instance to 25-man.
