In order to get this, you must defeat Illidan Stormrage in the Black Temple Timewalking Version as a Demon Hunter after having obtained both Warglaives of Azzinoth from the original level 70 Black Temple.
Do you have to have them on the Demon hunter or could an alt have them?
Well I guess we know now why illidan has been using the green challenge appearance.... unless we can use the same excuse that we used for gorehowl...
"Don't worry about our warglaives that look just like
Lord Illidan, we got it from a time travelling eredar from the far, far future..."
achievement is a feat of strength and is credited to all characters on an account. Unless they intend to modify its current achievement identity, we will be grandfathered in and only need to complete the Time walking event.
The achievement for having the original Warglaives is account-wide; as long as you have obtained both Glaives on any character on your account, your Demon Hunter has a 100% chance to obtain this weapon set to unlock the original Warglaive appearance any time you kill Illidan during the timewalking event.
yes! i already have Warglaives on my DH
now i need only to kill Illidan (sorry, boss :( )
Does this also mean Shadowmourne transmog for DK's when ICC timewalking comes up ?
Would be nice!
I may be wrong, but it's Demon Hunter's bound. Imo, if every classes were able to équip it, thé feat of strengths would have non sense.
Time travel is a pain.
Basically the only weapon appearance you will ever need if you main a Demon Hunter.
If i start farming these on my warr, dk, and dh, will i need to get both pieces on one toon, or does it count if i get the off-hand on one and main hand on another? if i need to get them both on one toon, would it make more sense to farm until you get one of the pieces, then continue to farm with whichever toon got the drop?
Seems like they are finally going to fix this, hopefully for other (old) legendary items.
But one thing still pisses me off big time: old leg items could be useful in timewalking dungeons, but WGs in particular are AWFULLY tuned up (or actually tuned down). Many older epics actually have better stats than leg WGs. For example:
ilvl 156 has lower min dmg, max dmg and dps than ilvl132 - just brilliant job!
For anyone who's wondering, you can earn this on
character if you already have
completed on any character.
So if you've already farmed a pair of Warglaives on your Rogue/Warrior/Dk/Monk, you won't need to farm a second pair for your Demon Hunter.

These blades belong to
in the TBC raid
. He got them from a demon called Azzinoth who entered Azeroth in the War of the Ancients 10,000 years ago. Well, probably it occurs to you how he got them, surely not by asking him politely. Ever since, they are his trusted weapons and you can have them if you start farming him with the patience they deserve. Here are some facts and wisdoms about them collected over the years:
The weapon set is of two weapons. A main hand and an offhand.
Surely, they can drop fast or have your mind destroyed for the low price of 5% drop chance
As of Legion expansion they are usable by
Equipping them both together awards
which is a feat of strength
From 7.2.5 there is a Black Temple raid Timewalking event which will award
killing Illidan on the event but ONLY if one of your characters have the

The above means that you don't have to farm for the glaives on your
but you still have to farm for them on other classes
They are not transmogable unless for
Can be used in Timewalking TBC efficiently so this would be the closes you get to actually strike an enemy with them
Got my achievement on PTR.
Did it on my copied main character that had an original set and achievement. Received this achievement and the transmog unlocked on my copied DH who is only level 100. You can mog those as soon as level 98 if you have the transmog yak you can use for transmog when during the DH starting zone.
Just for ^&*! and giggle
i just got the mainhand Warglaive of Azzinothon my demon hunter.
now do i HAVE to get the offhand on my demon hunter (since he already has one), or can i get the off hand on any other character that can wield it (own both account wide).
My Rogue has the Glaives , My Mage completed the Timewalking raid ( Takes around 2hrs ), My Demon hunter has the appearance.
Just to confirm for anyone concerned that they had to bring in their Demon Hunters through.
I collected the warglaives on my rogue and completed timewalking Black Temple on my paladin. This unlocked the glaive appearance on my demon hunter.
So...bottom line...don't do this achievement like I just did. The clever little word in this achievement is "after" They need to change it to the words "Defeat Illidan during Black Temple Timewalking
the "Warglaives of Azzinoth" achievement.
You have to get the 2 Glaives, THEN, participate in the Timewalking Black Temple Raid event.
So, 3 of the 5 toons that can equip the glaives on my account, each of the 3 have 1 glaive, be it Main hand or Off-hand.
7/15/17 late at night my raiding party with my Paladin defeated Illidan during the Timewalking event. Feeling good about this, I decided 1 of my 3 toons that needs that matching pair of glaives to make my Demon Hunter show off the Stormrage Glaives on my back as I proudly walk around. Remember the "after" word?
So just after midnight 7/16/17 I ran my Monk through normal Black Temple to get the Main hand glaive to make my set whole and dreams come true.
Holy Shit! The actual main hand glaive dropped as if Blizzard saw my good works and aided me this night. Equipped both glaives and Feat of Strength achieved as both warglaives were in hand. Even though the achievements were only hours apart and fulfilled the major points of what is needed, that one word invalidates all my work.
Log on to my Demon Hunter to collect my "Arsenal: The Warglaives of Azzinoth" item and finish some 14 weeks of running Black Temple on 5 toons each week in anticipation of this happy moment.
Lo and behold my terror as I research this and realize this word "after"
I needed to get both glaives, THEN take down Illidan Stormrage during the Timewalking Event.
I must say I am disheartened yet again with Blizzard and it's customer pleasing game. For this customer has not been pleased after so much work and dedication.(##RESPBREAK##)6152##DELIM##CalaelenDT##DELIM##
Ok let me get this straight. I can solo my brains out on any toon to get the glaives, and they drop one at a time normally. After I have both Glaives I complete the raid in timewalk and I'll get the apperance, correct?
So, can anyone clarify, do you have to have them "equipped" during the RAID to get the transmog? I have them in my bank on my monk but just spent the past three nights on fail raid attempts to finally finish last night --- > and no achievement. Thoughts?
I missed the event, am I *!@#ed for eternity in regards to Azzinoth Warglaives?
I have both the legendary warglaives, on my Death Knight.
I killed Illidan during the timewalking Burning Crusade week, on my same Death Knight.
Other party members got the "I'll Hold These For You Until You Get Out" achievement.
The other party members were Demon Hunters.
Did I have to be on my Demon Hunter to get this achievement?
As of August 19, 2017 --
the next Outland Timewalking event starts October 17, 2017
This can be confirmed on the in-game calendar or here:
Does this have to be before the first timewalking raid event? i only got one glaive which was on my paladin before this.
I miss the Panda that was on the hand guard in Warcraft 3.
Can you get the transmog option if you have the Guild achievement for this?
I got the Warglaives on my DK and did not get the achievement for them. I spent a while looking to find out why. Then it occurred to me that I needed to be in Frost Spec in order to equip them both at the same time them to get the achievement Warglaives of Azzinoth! Remember to equip them for the achievement prior to doing the Timewalking Black Temple. I hope this post saves others some time and heartache.
Good Luck for everyone trying to complete this in BfA. Raid is currently a bit overtuned, and replacing people is painful.
I just got the glaives Monday during timewalking (patch 9.0). Note that if you kill the Shade of Akhama, regardless of your lockout, it will be glitched in that the door before the Council of the Illidari will not open. I have tried 3 lockouts including one that was Illidan only and they were all bugged. That boss is the point of no return so I recommend filling up with 30 people to pad for leavers and let people know its a 3+ hr commitment ahead of time. Blizzard really needs to fix this but after 14hrs straight I finally got into a committed group who did a fresh run and killed Illidan.
So if i go into BT now on my DH and get a warglaive - i cant transmog them without doing timewalking BT and getting the achievement for that? I just did solo normal BT on my DH, got a mainhand warglaive and not seeing it in the transmogs, i still need the timewalking part?
