As for the serious version of my comment (if you didn't get the Blues Brothers pun), this achievement will require the robot pilot to utilize the fel prisons from the mech intelligently to hold groups of ghosts in place (and mostly immune) until the 20 spawn. You'll need 3-4 wave's worth of ghosts to spawn before you can break the prisons and aoe down all the ghosts, but make sure to keep fire under them so they don't rush the raid.

What you want to do is have the person taking the construct to place the first Fel Prison slightly away from the portal. This allows for some room for later waves of ghosts spawning to walk into the prison.
You want to do this because ghost spawning timers are sometimes slightly off.
After the first wave of ghosts has been successfully imprisoned, keep a freezing trap active on top of the ghost portal at all times to slow them down slightly as they spawn. Try and avoid using the Constructs Charge, as this can slow too much and sometimes only trap half the ghosts because others are trailing behind.
As waves spawn, you want to place new prisons on top of the old ones
the moment the new wave spawns at the portal
, thus effectively trapping the first wave again in conjunction with the second wave. Druids can help pushing non-imprisoned ghosts backwards if they run out of range before the prison triggers, though freezing traps should suffice. You can also use Death Knight AoE Grips to stack imprisoned ghosts tighter if they are a bit spread. The goal is to have all 20+ ghosts trapped in one prison by the end which is easily achievable.
The raid should be stacked somewhere so all ghosts run in a straight line. People getting Gift of Man'ari move in front or behind the group while still staying in the line.
Each Ghost wave consists of 6 Ghosts and there are 4 waves spawning before the portals switch positions. So you can have a total of 4 ghosts escaping.
Once you have the 20+ ghosts trapped, simply wait for the last prison to time out, this will release all ghosts at once and you don't need to worry about killing prisons. Since portals change location, have your construct player simply deal with the ghosts from the new portal while waiting for the old one to time out.
Raid should still be stacked up so that once the ghosts escape they don't run all over the place and melee
don't go near them!
This is important, as anyone getting hit by a ghost will kill it, but
not give you any credit
.
When the ghosts come running, pop heroism, keep them slowed and stunned and AoE them down.

Did this with the guild on normal mode.
Used the contrust for Fel Prison, first portla phase trapped/slowed all the ghosts once we had 20 let prison time out. Popped Hero, mass AOE and some more slows.
Then once you are sure they have all died within 10seconds.....kill the boss as normal.

So as of 7/21/2016, the achievement is bugged. We got the achieve on Mythic / Normal without getting actually killing 20 adds.

Managed to solo this achievement as a Blood Dk.
After taking the Construct, I put a prison on the blue portal for the first wave of souls. I used a stopwatch to track the souls timer, but I believe DBM can do it as well.
-T=0 s they get caught in the prison.
-T=27 s, second prison on the same spot (it will trigger just in time for the second wave to get caught at T=30 s)
-T=57 s, third prison.
-T= 1 min 27 sec, fourth prison.
Now you have 20 souls, you just need to prepare a big pool of fire and destroy the prisons (if you're a melee class, you can just wait), and the construct should be almost dead because of Socrethar casting on you. When the last prison is destroyed, all the 20 souls will run toward you and get caught in the fire, and they should all die at the same time.
Then you just have to kill the construct a second time and finish Socrethar.

My friends and I spent 2 hours trying to get this achi, and the Robot killing them makes them NOT count towards the achi. So many times we had the robot kill them and wondering why after counting 20 ghosts that we weren't getting the achi. I decided to just kill them myself (unholy dk) with my dots and ranged attacks so no one would get hit by the ghosts in melee (and therefore no credit since you don't get any if they die from touching you), then we killed Soc and it finally gave us the achi.
tl;dr DON'T KILL GHOSTS WITH ROBOT! Or get in melee with them.

You can use the robot charge + leave a trail ability (4) and kite the imprisoned 20 ghosts ghosts through the trail after the chains expire.
I was out of the robot when they died. I don't know it that matters.

Soloed on the first try as a feral druid on normal. I didn't even get in the robot and used mass entanglement to keep the ghosts all together. The cd for mass entanglement is a couple seconds longer than the portal spawns, so you have time to get them all together. After 4-5 packs, I used brutal slash to kill them all quickly. After they're dead, you can take your time killing Socrethar.

Easily solo'ed as BM hunter - just make sure you got timers from BW / DMB and you will be able to put 4 priosns = 20 ghosts - then just nuke it from distance.
You can put Binding shot on them too make it easier.

Simple summary:
Just practice getting this down: the moment ghosts spawn from the BLUE portal, (while any party members are stacked on you and) you are in the construct, cast ability 3 crystal prison (2s cast + 2s delay for prison to appear) and
learn the distance from the portal to place your prison to get ALL SIX ghosts in one crystal prison.
If you can do this correctly for the first group of ghosts out of a portal, you/everyone stands still and you just cast a new prison exactly on top of the old one for 3 more sets of ghosts, totally simplifying this achievement.
More detail if you need it:
1. Track the achievement.
2. 6 ghosts will spawn repeatedly from a BLUE portal (there's three colored portals that spawn against the wall). My 4 sets of ghosts all came from the same portal, but I'm not sure if it's the same # of sets of ghosts for each portal. The boss will resummon the portal locations eventually which means if you don't capture the first set correctly, now you may have the ghosts trapped in 2 locations, the prisons may despawn, and one group is gonna get loose.
3. The Mech looking Construct has the ability you need to use. Destroy the Construct, climb in it. Ignore the boss. You don't need the other Construct abilities if you're placing prisons correctly = capturing all 6 ghosts.
4. Ability 3 casts a crystal prison, immobilizing ghosts in it's AOE
at the moment it is created
. This ability is a 2 second cast + 2 second delay before it spawns and immobilizes mobs. So you are timing it to hit a moving target = group of ghosts. Each crystal prison does not last forever.
5. The Construct and any party members stand on top of one another, so the ghosts all move towards one spot in a tight group.
6. Construct player watches blue portal. The moment ghosts spawn, begin prison cast. If you cast the prison's AOE right in front of the portal, you will miss some of the ghosts, so lead them a little, they will run towards party members. With not much practice you should be able to identify a distance from the portal that catches all six ghosts in the prison if you cast it the instant they spawn, every single time. Subsequent prisons retrap all the old ghosts (important since the prisons don't last forever). This means you should have ~24 ghosts all in one tiny prison area.
7. Pop CD's and AOE, check tracked achievement color change, kill boss.
I did this my first jump in the construct on the 2nd or 3rd blue portal, after watching another party member struggle for like six wipes. We weren't helping him, running all around. Stand together, let your construct controller practice getting all 6 ghosts in one prison. I was a ret paladin and ended up solo trapping it after my teammates killed themselves, health running out in the construct. Soon as my prison went out on the 4th group I jumped out and blew everything up.

There is no need to use the prisons or any other sort of trap while soloing this. In order to solo this, you just need to kill the construct get in it and walk in a big circle around the boss. If your circle is big enough the mobs will never catch up to you. When the fourth wave of haunting souls has spawned either wait for your construct to die or get out of it, then kill all the haunting souls with a mass AoE. Once you have done this kill the boss and you should have your achievement

To those struggling to get this solo:
I tried both techniques listed below including kiting and soul prism.

Prism them all in exactly middle of room, 4 groups consecutively, one on top of the other. Before you die in the construct, drop a 2nd prism for safety so it doesn't expire while getting back in Construct.
When you think you have 4 full groups locked, use this script
(copy and paste it into chat) while nearby the group to confirm you have at least 20: (credit JakeXR)

Managed to get it as feral druid. My strategy:
- have some azerite armor with

. This seems to prevent the ghosts from touching me
- run circles around the room in cat form. Occassional dash or roar when ghosts were catching up to me.
- kill the random mobs that spawn from portal while kiting the ghosts.
- when ghosts have spawned 4 times from the portals (i did 5 just to be sure), group them all together, run in and 1 swipe to death.
- Kill boss and profit
For other classes, the

from azerite armor will probably make this achievement trivial as ghosts are unable to hit you and don't seem to vanish when getting close.

As of 8.1 this appears to be bugged. After exiting the construct it remains at 1% HP and cannot be killed. This happened on solo attempts.

As a 120, and doing this recently...I can say this is a little buggy. For trying to solo it, you simply find too many issues with the construct itself. He will not die. Just an endless 1%, and even if you have managed to kill 20 ghosts in 10 seconds...it was all for nothing because you can't kill the boss now.
With that, there is a way to reset a fight, which is handy to know from this point on and that is to run/jump straight into the door you came into. If you are with another person, you both need to run into it together to reset.
Now, unlike most suggestions stating this is better to do solo. I personally think this is better to do with a friend. I tried soloing it for awhile without any success. I brought my druid friend, and it took some time, but we did get it done with her mass entanglement. I would get in the construct and trap the first group. After that, it wouldn't allow us to trap any other groups...they'd go straight for my friend, ignoring the trap. So she would get close and entangle them, trying to keep them with the group I trapped. I would then be able to place a trap on top of them all, keeping them together. We did this for 4 groups.
She tried to keep the adds killed in between, since they put the dots on us and so forth. We had some issues, and it came down to her doing some staying away, while I kept the group trapped. I then got the construct killed, because she had a dot on her and I aoe'd the ghosts down with one swipe ...then killed the boss. Achievement done.
In the end, this achievement sucks, but I wish you all the best of luck getting it done.

I just finnished this achievement as a rogue, but I shouldn't have.
The way I did it: I trapped 3 packs of spirits in one place. I made sure to dps boss to half health before getting into the robot, else he buggs later at 1 hp.
Then When I had 3 pack locked (18 spirits) another pack spawned just when my robot got killed. I went in to try my range of shuriken storm and I killed the 4th pack comming at me that I didn't lock. I killed them, but accidentaly also killed the main boss.
I screamed, but realised I got the achievement. It seems that me killing 6 of spirits and killing the boss fast actually also counted the spirits which were locked, which I haven't killed.
So just lock 3 packs, kill the 4th pack and boss fast and you have the achievement.

Seems impossible to solo in 8.2.
The construct dies almost immediately, pretty much exactly when the ghosts starts appearing. This was on Mythic, though.
Btw, this resets the whole fight.

Apparently it is bugged BUT you still can solo it.
1) Kill boss down to 45%.
2) Prism the ghost (Button No.3) in the same spot (somewhere near the BLUE portal), with a bit of luck, you can prism 18 of them before your construct destroyed. (As you want to stay inside the construct as long as possible, try killing those mob who attacks you).
3) Once your construct destroyed, DO NOT attempt to ride it again as it will be bugged (1% bug).
4) Wait for the fourth round of ghosts.
5) Kite them near (but not too close) to the group of three you previously prism.
6) Kill the group you kite and immediately kill the group of three.
7) Kill the boss
8) Achievement!
P.S. Try to use a character that can reset the combat, e.g. rouge, night elf as you may need to try a few times until it works.

I have just solo this 8 Dec 2019 ON MYTHIC as moonkin druid with Mass Entanglement. It did took me a few wipes to learn the fight, how the ghosts spawn and exactly how many ways this fight bugs out.
As a piece of advice, take your time to try this a couple of hours and you will get it. Keep them rooted, and keep using the construct so the portals spawn. You will need to get a bit lucky, but this is definitely doable without too much head scratching.

I don;t know what I'm doing wrong but I basically follow the trapping at the blue portal method. I usually get all 4 packs and then get kicked out of the Construct... Then I kill the ghosts but the Construct seems to be stuck in a perpetual state of invulnerability. I can attack it - kill adds, kill everything but the boss doesn't die and the Construct just continually keeps attacking and casting...
I have to feign death to reset fight and try again.
Why won't the fight complete?

We did this in a group of 8 but if you use our method can be done with just 2. We had one in the robot like normal trapping the adds, and then we had a 110 naked dwarf DK punching the spirit boss now and again. The first time we didn't touch the spirit boss at all and we got the bug. Second time we had the DK tapping the spirit boss on the ass gently and it didn't bug. So I suspect the bugs are happening because the spirit boss is taking no damage? I don't know, but it worked for us, maybe we got lucky. Hopefully our strat works for you.
PS we reset the boss by having everyone jump into the door that you come in. If one doesn't work, try the other.

Soloed this as of patch 8.3 on Normal Difficulty using a Rogue.
So this is what i did:
- Burst the construct and immediatly enter it, you dont need to dps socrethar
- Pre-Place traps as much as you can over the blue portal(3rd Ability), sometimes it will bug and it will only trap 3 of the spirits
- Try to get 18 trapped before you lose your construct
- As soon as socrethar gets back to the construct, destroy the construct BUT DO NOT ENTER.
- A 4th wave should already be coming, you have 24 right now just AoE them
Do not use the 4th ability as it will leave a trail of fire and kill the spirits
Not sure if the spirits suiciding to you counts

For this achievement, I'm not joking, for the love of god please use a Druid. A friend and I bashed our skulls in for hours trying to do this, and Druids can just root them in place. Save yourself the sanity. Don't run around.

To everyone like me in 8.3 trying to complete this achievement. After many failed attempts I finally figured out a strategy that worked for me solo even with the bug. Hope it helps you too. This was done on normal difficulty.
1. Walk in and kill the first construct.
2. DPS the boss down to 45%.
3. Get into the construct and position yourself opposite the blue portal (with some space between as this ability takes a few seconds to activate).
4. Wait for the ghosts to spawn from the blue portal and cast ability #3 (fel prison) ahead of their path so you are able to catch them when they get to that spot. (this might take a little getting used to)
5.
THIS PART IS KEY
: You need to do this three times in one life of the construct because if you get back into the construct a second time it bugs. While doing it three times be sure to catch all 18 ghosts in the same spot this way the fel prison doesn't expire and it makes for easy DPS later.
6. Once you have 18 ghosts in a prison (they spawn in sets of 6 at a time and you need 20 for the achievement) you quickly DPS the construct down again but this time do not enter the construct. Position yourself in the same spot as before but this time not in the construct.
7. Once the final group of ghosts spawn from the portal either kill all of them quickly or wait for them to get to the spot where the prison of the other 18 are, and AOE them down. This step is dependent on class, do whatever works best for you just make sure you kill them all within the ten second window.
8. Kill boss. Get achievement. Wipe the tears of joy from your eyes.
Note: If you mess this up don't worry, you can just run up to the closed door where you entered and it will open and reset the fight.

I just did it today with my hunter.
The tactic is pretty simple, i noticed if you aint run around a lot with the machine just enter stand still and drop a trap it isnt likely to bug out! (I do 2-3 runs until it finally aint bugged)
So basicly
1. Nuke the construct instantly enter it.
2. Put a trap(third spell) in front of the blue portal trap the ghosts with it (there may be 1 -2 escapes than throw another trap), than wait till the construct dies, nuke it again and just repeat this until you have 20 ghosts (its usually 4 round)
3. Once you got the ghosts nuke the construct again, AoE the Ghosts and the boss.
(I do not know if its becouse I'm a hunter and i might have messed things up with my accidental feign death but i noticed after the construct dies and you re enter it ghosts that were aggrod on the construct before its destruction wont chase you anymore, they will deaggro and just chill until you aggro them(hit them) than they start chasing again.)

If you're attempting this on a class that can't reset combat, you can run into the corner of the door you came in from and jump to immediately reset the encounter.

Just solo'd this as a 475 BM hunter.
Seems the only way I could ensure no bugging on multiple constructs was to make sure I gave him a little love tap after he exited the construct, then made sure I put down a prison, did a little bit of dmg to him again with the construct, put down a second prison (always at the portal) and then made sure I was knocked out of the construct while on top of him. If I was at the other side of the room, the fight bugged (either everything despawned or the construct was stuck at 1%). With this, I was able to get into a second construct and trap 4 sets of souls. Then just make sure you AoE them all down quickly and kill! :)

This was unobtainable for me on mythic (solo or with a small group) because the boss kept sticking at 1%. Repeated on Normal and it was easy - just don't forget your friendly neighbourhood druid with mass entanglement and group them up as they spawn out of the blue portals. We knocked the boss out of his suit once, then tagged 4-5 groups of ghosts, then AoEd them down before turning back to the boss (still in his open form). Done in only a couple minutes.
Don't use the suit, it seems to get in the way and makes the 1% bug more likely to happen.
Completed in a group of 3 (mix 115-120 with most of our gear unequipped).

i recommend using two druids with Mass Entanglement talent, pretty simples every 30 seconds you mass the souls, you can do solo with druid but still annoying, if u can grab a friend this takes around 1min :)

ok so like every1 else it glitches. the only way i got it to work is the following, which is a combo of other advice on here:
- do the instance as 10M NORMAL (prolly most important part)
- kill construct
- get in construct immediatly
- dont move just sit there and time your prisons so that all the ghosts are in 1 spot
- once a prison is down start killing adds, specifically the melee mobs. the longer you stay in the construct the better and those adds are bringing your health down.
- eventually youll get 4 phases of ghosts and 4 prisons up.
- let the construct die
- target the prisons and then blow up everything aoe style. prisons need to die first quick because they cause 99% dmg reduction to the ghosts.
- kill boss immediatly after
doing it in 10M normal is prolly most important part. at normal the adds dont do as much damage to the construct so you can stay in it for at least 4 phases. that way you massively increase your chance of not bugging it. in heroic and mythic, the damage from all the adds ensures you only get 2-3 ghost phases before you have to do it all again and prolly bug it (which i think is tied to both the melee shield and apocaplyse he does)
the fact that on normal the adds dont do nearly as much damage to to construct makes it way better to do this achieve on. i spent 3ish hours trying different ways to do it on heroic. i managed to get the achieve on 1 shot on normal

If you enter the construct on any mode other than normal it will die before all the ghosts spawn and I found it bugs out not allowing you to enter. I did this with a druid and myself as a hunter. We used mass entanglement and binding shot. You do not need to enter the construct for blue portals to spawn.

I just did the achievement solo (mythic difficulty). This is how:
Important note: Dont move when you are being pushed out of the construct. Those are the moments I bug out often. Also give the boss some time to get in the construct before smashing him again. Make sure hes fighting you before you kill the construct.
You can cast at least 2 traps before the boss removes you from the construct. Just focus on trapping ghosts. You need a total of 4 waves (24 ghosts with 4 spare) and they always spawn at the same moment (about 5 seconds after the boss gets the Fel Barrier from the Draenei adds. This game will let you know when this happens. Start casting the trap roughly 2 seconds after this message. This is only needed if they spawn from a portal where a pack is already waiting. Otherwise you can put the trap down in advance since there will be no other adds waiting to trigger it.
Each trap lasts about 30 seconds. At certain moments the ghosts just dont chase you anymore and stand still. This way its easy to get 4 waves. Destroy the crystals (if u cant time them running out) and taunt (or pull) one of the ghosts of each pack thats not moving. Kite a little bit and burst them down. I used bladestorm as a warrior. They died and counted before they could reach me. Perhaps Hunter can multi shot each pack easily.
Try to experiment and don't give up when you fail once or twice. Try stuff out. You will get it! It is possible.

Solo'd this today - v8.3.7 as a MM-Hunter with very basic gear (it's just an Alt)
Basically it's all about position, avoiding the glitches and using the construct skills.
1. Enter the room and nuke the construct he's in. Socrethar flies away a little. Bring him down below 50%, so you can kill him fastly after the 20 ghosts.
2. Wait for the 1st ghosts to appear at the portal. This happens a few (5 sec max) after you see "
FEL BARRIER
" in the General logging.
3. Wait till the ghosts come closer to you, kill the first add (Shadowcaller's I believe) and quickly take the empty construct.
4. The 1st wave of ghosts get back to the portal and stay there,
WITHOUT
any ability of yourself or the construct. I believe this is another glitch which comes handy.
5. The next wave of ghost will appear about 30 sec later. That's also the timer of the rooting ability of the construct. Same as binding shot or freezing trap that you could use for that matter.
6. Do some damage (construct skills 1 & 2 and auto-attack) to the Shadowcaller's popping-up, as I believe this avoids you being confronted/stuck with the 1% glitch that keeps you endlessly fighting the construct... Reset the fight if this happens, walking to any of the doors to the next room.
7. Between the next wave of ghosts, run around, eventually using construct ability 4 to kite the Shadowcaller's so you can avoid some damage and stay longer in the construct.
8. When you see the next "
FEL BARRIER
" or see the next wave of ghosts appear at the portal, make sure you have some distance with them, which gives you time to carefully launch construct skill 3 to root both the waves 1 & 2 in place. You now have rooted 12 ghosts (6 per wave).
9. Repeat this a few times for every wave, till you have at least 20 ghosts. Don't panic if you loose a few because your rooting wasn't perfect. Just run around in the construct avoiding damage. It's important to keep doing some damage to the Shadowcaller's, to avoid the 1% glitch.
10. When your construct dies, Socrethar takes back the construct armour so you have to bring the construct down again to take it back. When done, do little damage to Socrethar, which restarts the cycle where you can grab the construct armour and root the ghosts all together.
11. When you reached 20 ghosts, root them again and perhaps again, untill your construct dies.
12. Socrethar takes back the construct armour. Quickly kill all the ghosts (barrage, multi-shot) and in less than 10 sec bring down the construct and Socrethar. Here it comes handy that you already brought him below 50%.
My pet was only active in steps 1 and 12. Not needed by the way, since it all needs to go fast, so you can put pet on passive mode.
All together this method is very doable, but needs some practice. Takes some time to get a good understanding of the fight and what it takes to deal with the glitches.
Running around with construct ability 4 is quite important, as it makes you avoid damage from the Shadowcaller's, and so you can stay longer in the construct armour with the required ability to root the ghosts.
This method can be used by any class, I believe. It's important to have some AoE-abilities as you need to quickly kill a lot of mobs. Barrage is handy for that.
By the way, if you fail and want to try again, just walk to the doors (any on both sides) and you'll be able to reset the fight.
No need for specific class abilities to reset the fight, so again this is doable for any class.

I just soloed as a 120 elemental shaman. I did the go around strategy stated on other comments, but with a small difference, I didn't mount on the robot. Just spirit wolf (raptor in my case xD) and ran in circles. Once I had enough, or I thought I had enough, I started chaining lighting and using thunderstorm when they got too close.

Completed this as as of SL prepatch. My guide applies to all classes / specs:
10 man normal
Kill construct
Bring boss under 50% hp
Enter construct
Run to blue portal, while standing on the portal, use ability 4 (the fel path) while facing the center of the room.
Whenever ghosts spawn, position yourself at the end of the line so the ghosts are always slowed as they approach you.
Use ability number 3 on slowed pack of ghosts to imprison them.
Repeat as many times as you can.
Imprison each approaching wave at the top of the previous wave.
Eventually, you will be forced to get out of construct. Try to run around while in construct kite enemy NPCs and try to use abilites to kill some of the NPCs. The biggest difference is smart ability 4 (the fel path) usage, which can save you a lot of hp.
Position yourself at the top of the boss just before you are forced out of the construct.
This prevents the 1% bug happening. If the bug happens anyway (the boss didn't reenter the construct and the construct has 1% hp), run to the north door and attempt to jump through it. This will reset the fight.
If you have successfully trapped atleast 20 ghosts, continue with the next steps. Otherwise run to the north door and reset the fight.
You can check number of ghosts using this macro:

Kill 20 ghosts as quickly as possible. You have to kill the prisons first and the ghosts after. You have to kill them within 10 seconds, so if you aren't sure, reset the fight.
Kill construct, kill adds, kill boss, get achievement.
If you have to, you can use ability 4 (the fel path) multiple times near the portal just to be sure ghosts will always be slowed, but 1 usage should be enough.
Also, when getting the achievement, I managed to trap 4 waves of ghosts (24 total), but if you manage to trap 3 waves and the 4th wave spawns while you are out of the construct, the achivement should still be easily obtainable. You can also try reentering construct multiple times but in the end I found it quite easy to do in 1 go.

Is there anything on Mythic that would be killing the ghosts? Such as the boss's fire? I kite them no problem but they eventually die. .Pets are on passive so kknow they aren't attacking the ghosts

Real easy achievement to solo with Druid w/ mass entanglement talent :
Start encounter and kill the construct to start the ghost phase - no need to enter construct
All the ghosts will come out of the blue portal - wait for them without damaging the boss at all
Use mass entanglement on each wave as they come out (6 per wave ) , CD will reset between waves
Use the macro mentioned in the comments below to count the ghosts or just wait for 4 waves - no need to run in circles
once all 4 ghost waves are packed together , stand close to them and AOE - i did it no problem as feral
If you tracked the achievement it will go from red to white - nuke the boss and you're done

After 3 hours of continues bugs and failed attemps to kite due to cds i noticed something, if you enter the construct AFTER the wave of Haunting Souls spawn from the portal you lose the threat and
they go stand in their portal untill either you pull them, go close to them or something else spawns from that portal and start attacking you
, so after you get out of construct they still dont chase you, they just stand at their portal, so here's what i did:
1) Nuked construct
2) I didnt enter construct immediately, i waited untill 2 waves of Haunting Souls spawned (they luckly spawn from the same portal) i kited the first waved a little using frost nova to buy some time untill the second wave spawned,
after the second waved spawned, i went to entered the construct immediately
, lost the threat from both waves of Haunting Souls, they went to their portal and stood there, i then had 2 waves standing on top of each other not following me around infront of their portal (12 Haunting Souls so far)
3)after i ented the construct i DID NOT attack the boss or adds in any way
(i also noticed that if i dont attack anything while im in the construct it does not bug, thought i didnt make more than 3 tries standing ther waiting for the phace to end, i dont know if i just got lucky )
4) waited for the phace to end and got out of the construct
5) nuked construct again (the previous 2 waves that spawned they dont aggro if you dont go close to them or attack them so i didnt need to kite them)
6) waited for the next 2 waves of Haunting Souls to spawn before i went into the construct again
( wave 3 spawned from the same portal as wave 1 and 2, and all 3 waves started follow me again, i had now 3 waves up but i needed to buy time for the 4th wave to spawn, again i kited around a little again using frost nova and blink like i did before in wave 1, as soon as the 4th wave spawned i ented the constuct witch again made me lose threat from all 4 waves of Haunting Souls, they once again went to their portal and just stood there
7) waited for the phace to end without doing anything again like
8) after the phace ended i just went close to the Haunting Souls and killed them with a single spell all 4 waves was on top of each other stacked (even though you cant see them all, they are there) killed the boss and got the achiv
i think being able to reset the threat of Haunting Souls will help alot of ppl that try to solo and cant kite them for a long period of time like me
note1: while waiting for the waves to spawn i killed the rest of the adds (not while being inside the construct)
note2: kill the constuct close to the door so you dont get to close to the portals and pulled the Haunting Souls but not to close to the stair cause it resets the boss
note3: to avoid boss reseting after you ented the constuct attack it a couple of times with a weak attack while waiting for the Haunting Souls waves to spawn

Bugged for me, I tried it 4 times. The number of haunting ghosts respawned through blue portal was exactly 4.
My construct was destroyed within a few seconds by attacking NPCs and the maximum of rounds repeating the second phase were 2 for me. After that time, the construct was unkillable and stayed in 1% hp forever.
The only chance for me how to leave the fight was via hearthstone, since the boss could not kill me, I could not kill the boss and the exit doors were closed.

Has to be one of the most irritating old raid achievements to get, but very satisfying once you finally lock the routine in. Though I imagine it can be soloed on normal with relative ease, getting the timing right is painstaking, because it's so obviously broken. If you are too far away from the boss, he bugs out. If you don't stop moving before he gets in the suit, he bugs out. If some other combination of factors happens, you might not get the achievement even though the correct amount of ghosts were killed first. blah blah blah it's fabulously irritating.
It took our group of 4 (2 lvl 60s and 2 50s) around 100 tries on Mythic, but we eventually got the Glory.
On normal, it was too easy to kill the boss, and we did just that without achievement. On Mythic, the adds and boss hit the construct really hard, so we had to be on point with our interrupts and stacking.

I just earned this achievement solo in SL after a couple attempts on Mythic. Using some advice from Vorador's post, I found a very easy method of doing this. This strategy is easier solo, but should be doable with multiple people if desired.
Everyone stack in the center of the room and pull the boss.
Kill the construct, and leave the boss alone after he is released from the construct.
Do not click on/enter the construct yet.
Some random adds will spawn, you can kill them now or later. Careful not to cleave souls/boss.
As soon as the souls spawn (easy to tell with the purple lines connecting to the payer they are targeting), the player being targeted immediately enters the construct.
This will drop all aggro from the souls, making them reset and wait at their portal.
Wait for the boss to kill and enter the construct again.
Repeat steps 2-5 until 20 souls are waiting patiently at their portals. Packs of souls coming from the same portal will reset on top of each other, making it look like there is only one pack there, so make sure to count how many spawn.
While the boss is still inside the construct, quickly kill all 20 souls within 10s of each other.
Kill the construct and then the boss as normal, and collect your achievement!
Some important notes:
The construct can bug at 1hp if you move it too far from the boss, the best way to prevent this is to never move while inside, and just stay in the middle of the room.
Sometimes adds may not aggro you, and instead stand at their portals with the souls.
Do not attack these as they will pull the souls with them, preventing you from stacking.
If at any time you mess up and want to reset the fight, you can run to the north doors you entered from and try to jump through the doors. This will reset the boss.

If you're finding this boss glitches after the construct breaks (particularly on mythic), move the construct closer to socrethar when it's at low health. We had no problems after that :)

Also not necessary but killing the adds while you wait between cooldowns might help if the construct is losing health but they should aggro to you normally.
I've seen a lot of frustration with this one and doing it this way seems to be the easiest at the moment.

You can avoid Socrethar from bugging out, when he is supposed to re-enter the construct, by standing next to him. Appearently Socrethars pathing is broken, and he will only travel very small distance towards the construct before he bugs out.

Patch 9.0.5 - we just got this achievement. Mage and druid with mass entanglement. We did NOT get in the construct since it kept bugging out for us.
Mass entangled the first wave, kited until the cool down was off to mass entangle the second and first together, then kited the next 2 waves. Druid also used vortex to slow down the ads while kiting.

After multiple attempts both solo and grouped, I managed to complete this. You ought to do this solo and in NORMAL difficulty. Here's how I succeded to do it on the second attempt :
1 - Get a druid
2 - Engage the boss, nuke him down and DO NOT get inside the robot
3 - Wait for the blue portals to spawn the ghosts (usually 6 per portal, so 4 portals needed for 20 ghosts)
4 - When the ghosts spawn use

to root and slow them down. When you kite the ghosts , make sure they DO NOT get through or touch the boss, keep them away from the BOSS, ROBOT, AND YOU.
5 - Repeat number 2 untill 20 ghosts have been gathered, get the 20 ghosts in a corner and after IAT will announce the criteria has been met , burst them down in the spot and you get the achievement.

I struggled with this in Shadowlands because of outdated guides to solo.
I did this with with a druid. You want to activate your
Mass Entanglement
talent. Use it on the group of six souls every time they spawn from the portal. The moment Mass Entanglement cools down, you can use it again, because that's when a new crowd of six will spawn. Do not bother waiting until you see them because then they might scatter and you won't get them all together and you will fail. You will be using it a total of three times only to mass entangle a total of 18 at one time. Then, when you entangle 18, the final 6 will meet the 20 total. You want to then nuke at least 20 but before you kill the boss. Do not kill them at the same time you kill the boss or else you might kill the boss first and not get credit because the souls disappear if the boss dies first.
Do not try and kill the Fel Reaver like people are saying. You're better off getting a druid to tag along to get this achievement with you or doing it on a druid alt. I believe the glory achievement is a meta achievement anyway.
Failing sucks because it's difficult to get out of the fight from getting zapped. You have to get in cat form and run to the other side of the room and try and heart. Bring your Garrison hearthstone because I think it hearths faster.

Solo Mage perspective. Due to the 1% Construct glitch, get close to the boss when it’s low health and you’re about to be ejected, this does for whatever reason reduce the glitch rate. I read a comment here that said to stay in the middle, then jump in the Construct when the first set of Souls start heading at you, yes this works! They do reset and just head back to there spawn point, I noticed the adds do as well. So yes, do this. Then CC them as needed to help. Cast the CC as often as possible when it’s on cooldown. Running in big circles is very helpful when the Souls do start to target you, keep that distance! Yet the most beneficial aspect of this achievement is something I have not read, and it’s using the boost while in the Construct. The boost lays down a green paste on the ground, this is a Slow. So while you’re in the Construct and running your big circles, boost as often as possible! This will also leave a slow-cc on the floor which dramatically slows all adds, including the Souls. I tried many times with no success using many methods here, but the Souls would always catch up, hit the Construct, then de-spawn.
Use that Boost! Paste the ground as much as possible with that green cc! This made staying away from everything very easy. Using this method worked well. There were so many Souls up everywhere, I ended up struggling to get out of the Construct to complete the achievement.

Completed 09/08/2022 on my level 50 rogue on 10 man normal.

The guide works, however the fight can glitch in multiple ways, so it is very frustrating and requires a bit of luck. I spent about 4 hours total over the course of 2 days. Fun stuff.
Here were my steps to success, they'll make more sense if you watch the video.
1: Trap 3 packs of ghosts behind boss with Fel Prison, dps the adds with melee hits while in the construct
2: When your construct dies, dps boss down to 30%
3: Get in the construct again, trap an additonal pack of ghosts in the same place as the previous ghosts
4: let the construct die
5: wait for spirits to break free from the prison, and kite any additional ones that spawn until the prison ones are free, aoe all spirits (I used sprint as a rogue and just squeezed it)
6: Kill boss
7: $$$
Tips: Stack on the boss when your construct is about to die, this reduces the chance that he won't move back into the construct, then causing the construct to never dies at 1hp.
You can dps the boss down whenever so he is easier to finish at the end, I would be careful with any character higher than 50 that you don't 1 shot him on 10 man normal.

SL 9.2.7 Bugged achievement, still did it!
Did the achievement on my Demon hunter in 7 min, 0 resets.
Kill the construct, boss will come out and spawns the blue portal. (NEVER GO IN THE CONSTRUCT!)
Keep running in big circles and avoid all mobs ( do no damage to the boss)
The construct will be around 10 % HP when all the ghost spawned (20).
AOE all ghosts at once, kill the boss.

Completed today with shaman & hunter.
Shaman uses ghost wolf form for speed boost to kite adds around the room.
Hunter keeps boss in middle of room and uses feign death when the ghosts are targeting them so they follow the shaman instead.
Kill construct each time to get more adds. Repeat until you have enough ghosts for achievement <3

I think I figured out how to counter the 1-health unkillable mech bug.
Just do not touch anything after getting hurt out of the mech until he becomes active and it should work fine.
Just keep playing patiently, trapping the blue portals each round until you've done 4 of them (recommended to be a class with extra base speed like cat form or ghost wolf)
Then as you get the 4th portal, unleash the ghosts and kill them within the time limit. I used earthbind totem and wind shear (ranged interrupt) to pull in ghosts that had reset, the nuked them as they gathered close enough.
Then you just kill the mech 1 more time without getting in, then defeat Socrethar.

This is soloable in Dragon flight - So there are a couple of complications on how the fight works, and I had tried a lot of suggested strategies but none of them worked for me as a melee (ghosts would despawn when I tried to aoe them down)making it impossible to do this by any cheese (kiting them around until 20 spawn, without jumping in the construct) - I tried running around waiting for 20 to spawn and kiting them - but as a rogue getting too close they explode without dying. You may have success with that method if you are a ranged AOE, they move pretty quick.
If you don't have very good gear to 1 shot a pack of 20 ghosts, or are a melee you will need to do the encounter the legit way below:
Note sometimes the construct bugs at 1% and you can't get in.
This one takes some serious patience and my original post last night I was about to punch my screen. I did not listen to my mothers advice and tried again today. All up I would say this has taken 20 to 30 attempts, over 6 hours, across different characters, do not accidentally kill the boss or you will have to reclear the whole instance on another toon. lol.
Attempt this on Normal Mode (construct lives longer)
1) Dps down construct so that you can jump in.
2) Move to the far side of the room oppose the blue portal, so that you can soul prison the stack of ghosts in the middle of the room (this is important so that you will have enough area to lay down 2 strips of fire length ways when you are finally ready to kill them, or to reposition yourself to prison more ghosts on a second construct phase. If they break free from their prison early then I would reset as it will be hard to recover and adapt the positioning on the fly, as they run back to their spawn, not at you while in the construct)
3) lay down a strip of fire to both the Red and Purple portal and dps the non-ghost mobs that come out; being prepared to lay your first prison in step 4 after they spawn, while you are killing them - By dpsing the red and purple portal mobs this should let you prison 4 waves of ghosts in 1 construct phase - the construct will slowly die and if it does die, the second time you dps down and get in the construct, the blue portal may move positions which will make it trickier to time everything and get them to stack, as well any previous fire strips will slow them down, so stick to the original plan and reset the encounter if this happens if you don't get 4 waves in 1 construct phas. You may be able to wait wait and see where the new position of the second blue portal is, if its in the same spot I would continue with the plan, I had no success ever if the portal moved.
4) Cast (button 3) soul prison to trap the souls. You need to drop your prison at a distance of about the height of the door to the room along the ground in front of them. This may take a few goes to get the timing right, if one gets through from the stack, (say 4 were prisoned, but 2 missed) its not a big deal let it explode on you and keep going imprisoning them and dpsing mobs, you have room to let 4 ghosts through to get the 20 ghosts from 4 waves, or let as many go through if you want to try to do multiple phases of the construct.
4) The soul prison does NOT last forever - you have to keep dropping soul prisons down to keep the ones you have already trapped from moving. I noticed this when I couldn't get 4 waves in 1 go, when dpsing the construct to get back in and repositioning to a new blue portal position, they would suddenly run back to their spawn, so keep refreshing this even if the ghosts aren't actively spawning, I would do a prison immediately when you get in the construct again, the cd will be up by the time the next wave spawns. If they break free they will run back to the portal they came from and it makes it very hard to kill them all in 10 seconds - again why its important to Dps the other portals asap to keep the construct alive long enough to try and get all 4 waves in one construct phase (using 2, 1 and melee hits)
5) Once you have 20 imprisoned, be patient and stay in the construct and keep imprisoning the stack until you are ready to let the prison despawn and let the ghosts run free - if more more waves of ghosts spawn after the 20 do not prison them, let them come close to you and run in to them to despawn them so you don't start the 10 second timer (rather then letting them die in the fire and so you get ejected from the construct sooner)
6) Once you have at least 20 ghosts stuck in prison, lay down two strips of fire length ways away from them and wait for you to be kicked out of the construct, so that you are ready to dps the boss AFTER the ghosts die, if you get too close or try to kill them with the construct they will despawn instead of dying. e.g. Rushing button 4 into them immediately de spawns them too.
7) Once out of the construct, Do not dps the construct again or the boss, and run all the way to the end of the fire strip - note: ghosts will run into and despawn on the construct when you aren't in it so kite both the boss and construct to the end of the highway to be safe. Then be patient while the construct and boss hits you at the end of the hell runway and wait for the the prisons to de spawn and the ghosts will re-target you all the way through the fire killing themselves. It is important to not be in the construct, or they will go back to the portal.
7) once Instance Achievement Tracker gives you the notification you may kill the boss.

For your own sanity - I serious urge you reconsider doing this Meta achievement.
I can say with certainty that this is the hands down, since playing this game from 2009 and over 25,000 achievement points, that this is, the worst meta achievement in the game. Never in the 14 years that I have played wow, Have i had such a visceral reaction of wanting to punch my screen in playing this game EVER. In 30 years alive, I have never experienced such anger and in the back of my mind I can hear my mother saying "just stop playing if it makes you angry" and I have.

You can do this achievement solo with Druid.
To do this, you need to have learned the Mass Entanglement talent.
Stand slightly away from the blue portal, as soon as the souls spawn immediately cast Mass Entanglement .
The cooldown is just about enough to fix each wave.
After 4 waves you should have the required 20 souls fixed.
Kill the 20 souls within 10 seconds.
After that, kill the boss.
Do not use the construct - it is bugged and cannot be killed!
Be sure to install the addon: Instance Achievement Tracker, it will show you when the criteria are met and the boss can be killed.

Be in ghostwolf and run like hell. Big circles!
The earthgrab totem won't keep them locked up forever, but it gives you enough time to put some distance between you and the ghosts.
You want to run and position yourself so that the ghosts get's bunched up, eyes up for new spawns - when they are together, use Earthgrab.
Save "Spirit Walk" for hairy situations.
It took a couple of minutes of running around before all 20 ghosts had spawned.
I noticed that after the big circle AoE debuff goes away from you (the one you don't want the ghosts to get into and killed by) you have a window of a couple of seconds before a new debuff get's applied to you. This is when you strike the ghosts. I used 1 click of Thunderstorm which is also a talent. I did this as Enhancement. I'd imagine it would be easier to do as Elemental with some ranged AoE, that way you don't have to wait for the debuff to run out and can kill them with something ranged. This worked for me though.

OK I soloed this for my 2 friends. Once as DH with speed gear and once as augevoker with speed talents.
So, first, I asked them (both paladins) to spam light of martyr on me until they die (i pulled the boss around 20% hp so they were in fight), they died soon after. I just killed the construct and waited for souls - then just ran around the room (avoiding the "dead" construct - souls explode when they hit it) - after the 4th wave, I just killed them. As DH - throw glaive and eye beam. As evoker - instant tipthescales- fire breath).
My friends had to be dead cuz souls fixate randomly, sometimes on them - so you have to be solo alive to get all of them on you.
This was my method without any roots whatsoever. Now when I think of it, I coulds landslided them as aug but it wasn't needed in the end. As aug you just have to hover properly - sometimes breath of eons to get away fast - that was enough.

If anyone is interested, I just completed this achievement today on patch 10.2 with a level 70 BM hunter, specced for speed and AoE.

I did the basic non-construct strat as most others, and just did jump-180-degree-disengage's off CD for short speed bursts, tried not to kill any adds to keep Trailblazer up as much as possible, used tar trap if i felt like i needed to, and only used cheetah once when I thought I was in a tight spot. YMMV based on the portal spawns. Cobra shot the construct everytime Socrethar jumps back in it, just for the safe single target. Once I felt like I had enough spirits (roughly 4 portal spawns, get to a good spot where you won't hit the boss, and barrage them all down. Then, just clean up the boss and congrats on your achievement if you choose to use this strat.

i found the cause of the 1hp bug and i hope this helps u guys out
the 1hp bug is caused by doing to much dmg in the previous phase i auto attacked to construct to get it out and had no bugs
before hand i was using shred and contently had the bug ilvl 433

This is strictly for anyone with slows/mass slows that can be spammed. Perhaps there are items out there which can mass slow also? But can also work for any other classes which have Root/CC which doesn't damage (Mass entanglement for druids) or if it does do damage, perhaps take off your gear and see if it still kills them?
Strategy:
1) Spec into
群体减速
2) Kill the construct; ALWAYS. (this is what allows the boss to exit and create more portals to spawn the necessary adds)
3) Never attack the boss until you meet achievement criteria.
4) Run in circles casting Slow
减速
on the spirits (which spawn from the blue portals always) until you accumulate 20+
5) Kill 20+ spirits, kill boss.
I also killed all the other unnecessary adds as they spawned, to prevent them from stunning/slowing me.
Example
Tip if you're a mage: You don't have to face the mob to ever cast the slow. This will also help prevent you from auto attacking it, as you're not facing them directly.
