Every 25% HP interval, X-002 Deconstructors heart becomes exposed and adds are spawned, amonst them some
XE-321 Boombots
and many
XS-013 Scrapbots
which will move towards X-002. When a Boombot reaches the 002 or is at 50% HP, it
self-destructs
, causing AoE damage to all nearby units, both friend and foe. This damage (95% to 105% of weapon damage, the tooltip is incorrect) is greater then the health of the Scrapbots, so clever rooting and coordinated killing of Boombots can be used to reach the required kill count.

Prerequisite: It will be extremely difficult (rare) to get this achievement if you do not at least have DPS to kill a heart as chaining 2-3 heart phases back to back is
highly
recommended, if not required, to reduce RNG failures. The objective demands a a fairly rare occurrence: 20 scrapbots up at once with a boombot, all within close proximity of each other. Kill the boombot and its explosion will likely destroy all the scrapbots near it all in one shot. There is a 12 second time limit on this so it's not possible to kill 5-10 scrapbots using this method during each heart phase.
Note: RNG is a painful factor in getting this. If your DPS is exceptional and can get Must Deconstruct Faster basically every time, then you should consider getting a 3rd heart phase in a row. The way I suspect that this works is 3-5 waves spawn each add phase. They can be either: A) 1 Pummeler, B) 5-10 scrapbots, C) Boom Bot + a few scrap bots. You can probably imagine that you can easily get screwed over on RNG. If you are purposely going for this, you will /facepalm when you see Pummelers spawn. You will likely need many attempts to get this achievement.
Strategy
Positioning: Tank XT between 2 piles either on the left or right, against the wall, rather on the stairs. This makes it much more likely that bots spawn in the far 2 scrap piles unless Blizzard makes a change.
Special assignment: Assign people to leave AoE slowing effects down near the far scrap piles to prevent the first heart phase spawns to not be so far ahead of the 2nd heart phase bots. Shamans (healer pref, as there's nothing to heal when chaining heart phases) and Hunters can quickly ghost wolf or aspect of the pack over once the first heart phase begins.
Process: Get XT down to 75% to trigger the first heart phase. Damage the heart down until it's 5% or less before it goes back up, but don't finish it off. Get XT down under 50% and trigger a second heart phase ASAP (should already be under 50% if you get the heart to 1% - heart is 1.5mill and XT is 5mil, getting heart to 1% will mean 33% less HP on XT, 8% more than needed to trigger the next heart phase). Hopefully, RNG was nice enough to spawn at least 20 scrapbots, 1 boombot, and no pummelers. Everyone, but the MT and MT healers, should now focus on bots, using a combination of whatever you have at your disposal: piercing howl, thunderstorm, frost nova, death grip, charge/intercept stun, chains of ice, etc to control the pack of bots (preferably relying on the more reliable abilities). If they are not controlled well and get close to the "converge point" (where the funnel together close to XT) without being grouped up well, you can possibly have a druid taunt XT and cat sprint kite XT along the outside walls to buy a little time. Beware that you still have to deal with light and gravity bombs.
If all goes well, congrats, you have just earned an achievement for playing the add spawn lotto and getting <scrapbots> <scrapbots> <scrapbots> <boombot> and playing with XT's toys and getting them to all go boom at once.
Addendum: Despite what was written on Wowhead's XT page, boombots *don't* follow normal aggro tables and beeline for XT. They do not self destruct or get sucked up by XT. You must kill them and they explode on death and instantly kill near scrapbots no matter how much health they have. They have 12.6k hp and have a 10 yard explosion radius.

We had the luxury of having two mages with a frost-offspec available, which meant we had excellent control over the adds.
Viewing XT's area from the entrance, XT was tanked to the left, forcing all robots to spawn at the two scrappiles to the right. Three back-to-back heartphases were used to speed up the add spawning as much as possible. Both mages tried to create big clumps of little robots, using Water Elemental nova, Frost Nova, Cone of Cold, and Shattered Barrier if the opportunity presented itself. This means the robots will either be rooted or massively slowed all the time. Be sure to use rank 1 abilities; repeated maximum rank Cone of Cold will obviously destroy the scrapbots.
Minor detail for frost mages out there; Frost Nova will overwrite pet nova, but not the other way around. Be sure to use them in the right order.
Once we had, in total, 25 scrapbots together, both sides executed their boombot. It is recommended to gather 25 robots instead of 20, as the boombot might end up not hitting some due to bad positioning, or one of the little scrapbots might sneak away. If one side happens to end up without a boombot and the other side has two, attempt to use Death Grip to even things out.
While still prone to RNG, it shouldn't be nearly as bad as waiting for the stars to align and getting the right bots from one scrap pile. It took us two attempts to get the achievement.

It was a bit tricky to pull off in 4.2. Adds have very low health (~8-10k or so) and die easily to frost novas.
We've had a hunter with frost traps, a naked mage with frost novas/ring of frost/cone of cold and druid roots as well.
He spawns adds every 25%, and is immobile for ~30 seconds while his heart is exposed, and while casting tantrums, so any spawned adds can catch up easily during that time. So you don't have a whole lot of time to gather 20 scrapbots. The tactic that succeeded was to get him to 75% so that the first set of adds spawn. Then nuke the heart, but dont kill it (leave it at 10-20% or so). Once he revives, he'll be down to around 30% health, that means you can get 2 add phases in very short succession, before any adds reach him.

First time poster.
I just did this solo as a level 90 BM hunter.
After 52 atempts, finaly got lucky.
If you have a hunter, and like me have a hard time finding people to help on this, dont give up, its possible.
You will need a lot of lucky and effort!
Just a few tips.
Do not give up on the try if he eats a few groups of bots. When i did it, i got all the groups from the 50% phase and the 25%. Though i think it may be possible to still do it if he ats some groups of the 50% since the last phase he spawns a lot more.
You will need to run in aspect of the sheetah and hunt through the room the spawned groups of bots to shoot them, it will be impossible to gather all of them closer.
Things that make it easier for soloing.
Engineering speed enchant
Binding Shot (hunter talent)
Narrow Escape (hunter talent)
PVP Glove (2 less seconds on trap CD's)
Being Survival, you can get 6 secs less on traps, and 30% extra duration. (Helps a lot, though i did it as BM)
Ice Trap Glyph (more radius)
Glyph of Aspect of Sheetah (removes the daze effect, and you will need to swap since you wanna dps boss hard, and still run faster when the time for the hunt comes)
If you think you wont do it, dismiss your pet, use deterrance and feign death! The boss will reset after a few seconds. So you can keep rolling till you do it.
Good Luck!

maat1985, thank you for posting, i was not sure it was soloable until i saw your post and also just did as a bm hunter. Just to build on your post, i found binding shot and narrow escape very helpful in locking all the adds into the frost traps. The adds were very RNG when it came to getting 4+ packs all up and when the scrapbots were not spread out.
Tank boss on one side of the room, dps the boss to 75% and keep dpsing and put up as many dots before he phases, slow the adds and immobolize when you can. Ideally you know if each run is possible before tantrum, and both you and boss will move faster than adds so use that to clump adds into closer groups.

Another BM hunter here that just did it. Although spec wont make much of a difference, but binding shot and posthaste will help.
I started by placing my pet in the Northeast corner of the room, Misdirected to my pet and proceeded to dps him to 75%.
When his heart comes out, dps it to about 50% to avoid any tantrums that may kill you. ( if he does tantrum, use deterrence or any healing you can do )
It looks like most of the bot spawns happen during each heart phase 75%, 50%, and 25% unless you damage the heart enough, then he'll do another heart phase again. Keep this in mind when bots are running toward him, as he remains stationary during the heart phase.
Keep an eye out for the bomb bots spawning from scrap heaps. Proceed to binding shot and Ice trap as often as you can while KITING the boss ( just pull your pet back to you, put on passive and use Disengage to keep him running at you). Keep kiting the boss around the room away from the bots. Once 4-5 bot packs are within killing range, kill the bombs to kill the scrapbots.
If you get lucky with bot spawns, this strat makes getting the achievement really simple.
I'd assume almost any class with any ranged abilities canobtain this achievement as long as they have decent survivability or healing.

Just soloed this today as an Aflliction Warlock.

Pretty simple to do. Take the CoEx glyph and Shadowfury talent. Tank boss with Voidlord in a far corner and start by nuking boss a bit - so just enough damage so he will chain heart phases but won't kill him. Now comes the RNG part. What you really need is two spawns from a far scrap pile in the first heart phase. Chain slow/stun these until the second heart phase. In this one you again need two spawns close to each other. If luck is on your side and you are confident the Boombots are close to at least 20 Scrapbots nuke the Boombots only and hopefully you'll get the achievement.
Easy to reset by putting up a teleport outside the door so don't worry if you get bad RNG on add spawns. Just run, teleport and reset.
Hope this helps those locks out there trying to solo :)

Was able to solo this on a not-great-geared Frost Mage, but it wasn't easy. I tanked XT in one corner and DPS'ed him down to 75% to trigger the first Heart phase. When the Heart came out, I hit it with a couple burst procs I'd saved up to get it down very low very quickly. I double-blinked over to the opposite side of the room and sought to pet-Nova a pack of Bomb/Scrapbots. Then I used Ring of Frost on the next group that I saw spawn. I ran back toward XT and used pet-Nova again when it came off the 25sec cd. About this time, the 2nd Heart phase (you need two in a row) was winding down. Several bomb groups were closing in on XT, though, so I charged in and spammed this macro:
/tar XE-321 Boombot
/use Ice Lance
You still need RNG to be on your side. You need an attempt where he spawns a bunch of bombs across the room and not in the near corner. You also need an attempt where he spawns more bombs than Pummelers. Good luck.

Just soloed this as a ret paladin without any kind of CC.
I took him to one of the north corners and chained 2 heart phases then waited at the corner south from the one he was at and pushed him into 3rd heart there.
After that I began kiting him in "circles" around the area in the direction that kept most adds as far from him as possible.
After about 2 laps of kiting him 4-5 packs of adds were stacked on top of each other in the middle so I just hit 1 bomb and instantly got all 20 scrapbots :)
A few things to note:
You might be able to keep him at north corner for 3 heart phases if the majority of adds spawn from opposite south scrap.
I lost a few packs during tantrums.
Due to where adds were after the 1st lap I switched the direction I was kiting him (clockwise then anti-clockwise) although that will be different for everyone due to rng of where adds spawns.
I had 30% move speed from from pursuit of justice although I don't think it was needed.

I have a small refinement for some of the strategies mentioned here that worked out well for our group. First, see my more detailed comments
for the 25-man version of the achievement
.
Note: For the 10-man version of the achievement, it only takes ONE exploding Boombot to kill the Scrapbots around it. This makes it somewhat easier than the 25-man version, which requires two.
In my comments there, I recommend tanking the boss at one end of the room and chalking up any Scrapbots that spawn in the piles next to it as lost. Instead, you hope to get enough from the two piles on the opposite side of the room to accomplish the achievement.
But you can reduce your dependence on RNG a little (and I do mean a little) if you make this adjustment:
(1) At the start, tank the boss at the top of the stairs rather than at one end of the room. Put a flare down at each of the four junk piles, and have people assigned to each one. (Preferably at least two druids per pile, but at least one.) When Scrapbots spawn, call it out in Vent (e.g., "Scrapbots at blue!")
(2) If, after the first heart phase, Scrapbots have spawned from both sides of the room, continue to tank the boss at the top of the stairs for the rest of the fight. Push the second and third heart phases quickly, taking care not to kill the boss.
That means not using dots, and not dpsing at all during tantrums.
With the boss in the middle, your group will have to be doubly good at rooting adds to keep them from being eaten, but it is still possible.
(3) If, however, after the first heart phase, Scrapbots have only spawned from one side of the room, then
move the boss
to the opposite side of the room after the first heart phase is over, then resume dpsing. Hopefully you get more Scrapbots where the first batches spawned. If you do, let them catch up to the first groups so they can all be rooted together.
(4) The instant the third heart phase ends, the person tanking the boss should call out in vent to kill the Boombots. Everybody should do so, whether or not you think you have enough to get the achievement. Note that sometimes new adds will spawn at the very end of the heart phase, so more might show up even as you're killing the ones you've been rooting.
(5) If you don't get it, wipe and try again. For quicker wipes, druids should not have the Ysera's Gift talent, and warriors should not have Second Wind.
-----
A few miscellaneous notes:
- When the adds spawn on the trash piles, they are fairly spread out, so if druids are too quick with mass entangle, some will get away. Wait for them all to hit the floor before casting the first mass entangle.
- Whenever Scrapbots spawn and are called out in vent, as described earlier, nearby druids/mages/hunters should move in to help root them. Your first priority is tending to the trash pile you've been assigned to, but if Scrapbots spawn at the pile next to you and not at yours, run over to help. In theory, two druids can lock down one cluster of adds, but in practice it's difficult to be perfectly coordinated, so an extra druid/mage/hunter can be essential.
- DKs should just run around from trash pack to trash pack, using Gorefiend's Grasp on each one whenever possible.
- Druids can also use Ursoc's Vortex as a supplemental spell whenever Mass Entangle is on cooldown.
- The person on the boss should NOT damage the boss during the tantrum phase. If you do, the damage will cause him to either skip a heart phase or die outright when it ends. DO NOT dps the heart, despite what other comments here say -- that used to be necessary, but a single well-geared 90 will be able to push the boss into the three heart phases plenty fast enough without touching the heart. But if you do hit the heart, you run the risk of causing the boss to skip a heart phase (bad), kill the heart by mistake (very bad), or kill the boss outright (very very bad).
- Single-target damage only. Remove all cleaving gear (trinkets, legendary capes) before pulling. Nobody should do any dps except the one person on the boss and when it's time to kill all the boombots.
- Don't stress about Scrapbots escaping and being eaten by the boss.
- The key to this achievement is really to have a lot of druids. DKs, mages, and hunters are great supplements to a druid-heavy group, as I explained in my comment for the 25-man achievement. Healers can help during tantrums. Most other classes only get to stand around and look pretty and maybe occasionally use a non-damaging stun to slow down a Scrapbot that escapes the rest of the pack.
- Most importantly: Keep trying. Even if your group is perfectly coordinated, you still have to get good RNG. Last night, our group had six or so failed attempts, then succeeded when we just randomly got a ton of good Scrapbot spawns. When it came time to kill all the Boombots, we got the achievement before even half of the Scrapbots were dead. Bottom line, everyone in the group should be prepared to wipe a few times until it works. Consider each wipe practice for perfecting your group coordination for when the RNG winds finally blow right.

I attempted this around 50 times as a Shadow Priest and finally found a strat that works for classes with no cc for the adds.
First, take the boss to the very top of the scrap pile to the north west corner of the map. DPS him down through all of the heart phases. During the first two heart phases, don't move or damage the heart. Also, don't worry about the scrap bots that make it to him, they shouldn't be a problem. When he goes into his final heart phase at 25, leap down off of the scrap pile and with luck there should be just enough adds closing in on him to get the achievement.
Something to note for Shadow Priests:
Spec into Spectral Guise. If there aren't enough adds out just stealth and he will reset.

an EZ & fastway nowadays,:
1) dont stress with anything as i tried mastered it and keep collecting packs which was just a wasted time, just wait till the last phase at 25%
2) prepare macro /tar XE-321 Boombot /cast ur fav single target ranged offense ability here.
open ur achievement menu (key Y default), looks under dungeon n raids lich king raid and scroll till u find it and start tracking its progress by shift+ left click on it
3)start the fight, at 75 hit his heart, at 50 hit once more, at 25 hit once more..
now wait till enough packs are spawned push ur target n cast macro without need to kill em by explode his heart n worrying about having em together
ps: tried only on 10 mode, will try on 25 after reset
hers a screenie having target those bots, just wait enough for assurance n then pres ur macro an face to another one n press..n make it happen

Alright, this works easy at level 100 in 10 or 25 and any class, however it is extremely random. It can be as easy as a single attempt or as annoying as 20+ attempts.
0) Before doing this, remember RNG means random. Random is random. Now proceed.
1) Mount pull boss all the way up the junk pile in the northwest or top left corner.
2) DPS boss to 49% health before it can drop the heart, boss goes into heart phase 1 & 2 in a row. Stop DPS.
3) You will see the boss launch purple orbs towards the junk piles, it is pretty much mandatory that the two farthest junk piles are targetted for scrapbot spawning.
4) Once the boss gets out of the second heart phase, make sure you have the train of scrapbots running towards the boss between you and the boss, the boss will come after you and watch as you get 20/20 scrapbots as the boss runs 'em over, providing enough of them spawned.
5) Achievement Completed.
If you didn't get enough scrapbots just feign death/shadowmeld/escape whatever, restart. It took me 15 tries in 25-man to get enough scrapbots, and 5 tries in 10 man. It's extremely random.

The basic solo strategy is drag the boss up on top of one of the junk piles and DPS him to below 50%. You jump down into the path of the adds whilst the boss undergoes two add spawning phases in a row. At the end of the 2nd phase, you try to kill all the boombots that you possibly can.
As a veteran of 107 attempts with a maximum score of 18, not 20, I'll offer this advice.
Do
NOT
attempt this on a character without an aggro wipe, or some way to reset the encounter, otherwise Insanity will ensue.
Do
NOT
attempt this if you've already developed a pathological hatred of Blizzard RNG, otherwise Insanity will ensue.
If the boss spawns even one set of adds from the pile closest to him, you've failed.
If the boss spawns even one big Pummeler instead of a group of bots, you've failed.
If the boss bugs and doesn't enter a spawn phase, you've failed.
If the Boombot isn't grouped with the straggling Scrapbots so at least 4 die in one explosion, you've failed.
Basically, if anything except
PERFECT LUCK
occurs, you've failed.
Macro a ranged spell to target the XE-321's directly, and also to apply any movement boosts automatically, as you may need to run from one pile to another.
Above all else, if you cannot tolerate RNG, do
NOT
attempt this.

As a hunter, I followed the general advice here to pull the boss up on the junk pile to the left, bring him below 50% before he drops the heart, then stop dps. Now comes the random part, but using ice trap (with entrapment proc as survival), binding shot and glyph of explosive trap (knockback effect) you will be able to delay the first pack from reaching him, slightly improving your chances. With knockback you can also bring a boombot into the middle of a pack so its detonation will reach more scrapbots, or to buy just a little bit more time before the timer goes.
When I finally got it (after 30+ attempts) I actually got the first boombot/scrapbot pack from the pile closest to where I position him, but using the above mentioned abilities I was able to delay it enough to get it. I did however get 3 packs in a row from the pile on the opposite corner and another pack from the final one.
Now to get it on 25-player...

As you become more powerful at levels 85 to 100 or higher it becomes harder and harder to get this achievement if you don't have it already. My main is a Mage and this and its 25 player counterpart are the only two Unduar achievements (apart from Herald of the Titans) I lack.
The information that Vashar and Tsuzurao have provided above is useful. Vashar's is a little less useful because he was writing at a time when Level 80 was maximum but his strategy is sound. Synapto's solo strategy and advice are excellent, however, I would suggest that taking a group makes life much, much easier.
My first suggestion is that even at Level 100 you take a group. Bring at least 1 Shaman and 1 Hunter. Bring a tank who can maintain threat without doing much damage and who is good at moving the boss. You may well have to kite the boss around his area until enough adds spawn.
If you can bring some friends who are at or very near Level 80, by all means do so and use them to manage the adds. Their reduced damage will make getting the achievement more likely.
Only use slows that do
NOT
damage the adds. Frost Nova by a Level 90 or above Mage, for example, will instantly kill all your scrapbots and boombots. Even naked, as suggested by toveid above, the Mage's Frost Nova may hinder more than help.
Designate 1 or 2 high level players to carefully damage XT bringing him to 25%, 50% and 25%. The fewer players doing damage the easier it is to be precise and not power through a heart phase. At Levels 90-100 it is too easy to blow up the heart when it drops.
Leave the heart alone until 25%
. Once you have all the adds out at 25% you can then blow up the heart.
As noted by others you will need a lot of care and huge amounts of RNG karma to get this achievement.
Good luck. I hope I shall have some good luck at this some day. :)

Pure RNG nonsense. Not an achievement as much as a lottery. 50 tries so far without even two spawns in a row from the far corner pile.
Update - got it on attempt 114, on a hunter with every cc trick in the arsenal, and it was really just down to luck. Couldn't imagine doing it without being able to feign death, and it still bugged the boss every few pulls.
This is definitely less difficult than the 25-man version as the bombs actually blow up scrapbots. I had 18/20 quite a few times, but have still never been closer than 14/20 in the 25-man version of this achieve, and rarely more than 9/20.

I just finished this on my lv 100 hunter. The most important thing I can say is to make a macro! I used:
/tar xe-321
/cast Arcane Shot
Take him to the pile on the left, nuke down to 33% and pray for good luck. Binding shot and narrow escape helped me a lot. Try to group up each pack and just as the first bombs are about to hit the boss start running at bomb packs and spamming your macro. Took me 51 tries to get it just right. I found doing it on a hunter was much easier then on my priest or shaman. Good luck!

GUIDE FOR DRUID
This is a strategy that I figured out and got this achievement in 3 tries on my druid. Take these talents
Level 15: Feline swiftness
Level 45: Mass entanglement
Level 75: Ursols vortex
And have a macro
/tar XE-321 Boombot
/use moonfire
Make sure you have the achievement tracking. Pull the boss to the very up left corner. Very carefully dps him down below 50 to get him into heart phase, I did this with mostly melee attacks. Now run to the middle and wait.
Basically what you want to do is slow the mobs so they get "eaten" by the boss in quick succession. As they start spawning and running towards the boss, about halfway before they get there, cast ursols vortex and mass entanglement on them. Don't use both on the same path the packs take from the piles towards the boss, if two groups are right next to each other they will likely both get slowed/cced by one ability. As the boss comes back out of his heart phase, dps him back down to 25%. Stay in one position and don't move so the adds can easily get to the boss. You want about four groups of mobs to get eaten by the boss, use a sprint ability and your ranged killing macro to kill the last boombot group that just spawned and get the achievement.
Should you fail and want to try again, join any group and immediately leave, it will boot you out of the instance in a minute, much quicker way to reset then trying to die.

I got it on my second try.
Here's what I did as a 708 ilvl hunter in patch 7.0.
Dismiss pet
Pull boss up to center platform by teleporter. DPS quickly to below 50%.
Boss will do a double add summon during back to back heart phases.
Using single target attacks kill the boom bots. You may have to run from pile to pile but it should be really easy to get them all.

Finally got this in 2017. Simple. It is a matter of luck...ready?
BEFORE ENGAGING:
1. Have feign death or way to leave combat.
2. Remove all gear (or as much as needed), so you'll be able to get boss to BELOW 50% to start phase 2. This is important.
ENGAGING:
3. Pull boss to top of pile in top left (Northwest) corner. Slap/shoot/whatever to now get boss BELOW 50%.STOP DPS.
4. As boss goes through two heart phases, watch that the two furthest piles are targeted for her ads. You'll see a purple explosion on the piles. It needs to be the furthest piles. Count the bots coming...you have time to count them as she goes through her two heart phases. Don't see enough? Feign death/leave combat/whatever to end combat. Be sure you have enough! Start again from step one if there isnt enough.
5. See enough bots? (you need 20). GREAT! run past them so boss runs through 20 in 12 secs or less. You'll get ach before boss dies, so you'll know if you failed or not. Didn't get it? Start over!
THIS IS REALLY LUCK! You need to have 20 bots up. Took me only 3 retries to get it. Simple.
FINALLY after all these years >.<
