Introduced in patch 3.3, these nests contain vanity pets. The pets you can get from these are:

Leaping Hatchling from Takk's Nest
Darting Hatchling from Dart's Nest
Razormaw Hatchling from Razormaw Matriarch's Nest
Ravasaur Hatchling from Ravasaur Matriarch's Nest

Prior to 3.3, these pets dropped from rare creatures that are on five to eight hour spawn timers. The other hatchling pets, such as the Razzashi Hatchling, are not obtainable from nests.

I went inside the cave and took the path to the left, there was a nest on the far side of the shallow pool. So check that way if you plan on looking for a nest =]

been farming it a few days now, 2/3 times the eggs spawned whitout the raptor. Both seem to have their own timers.
1 point was 67,30......the left way inside the cave, between the water and the lose rock on the right.
2 was on top of the plarform in the big room covered with water. 70,29
3 was between the 2 rocks at the wall at 71,30

Any idea what the spawn times are? It seems to take forever to me, either that or everyone on my realm beats me to the punch.

The spawn time for this nest is 6 - 8 hours.

Just spawned for me at 67.7, 30.6. Right next to the pool of water in the room before the big room everyone else seems to be finding theirs in. Luckily, I got bored of waiting by the usual spot in the big room everyone else finds theirs in and went wandering.

Went in there after i was reading about the all the new pets and i found mine in between the two rocks. I did it after the server did its daily restart...don't know if that had anything to do with it, but i didn't need to kill anything it was just there waiting for me.

I went in there, Found the nest and took it.. Dont got cords, Sorry can't tell where it was, But it was close to some water

If you have the Tom Tom mod here is a handy macro that will help you run circles through the cave:

/way 70.0 29.1 Spire

Hi there!

I have been looking for the nest for some hours now, and I have noticed that a chest (container) has been spawning at the places where the nest could be. This has been respawning for about every 15 min.

Anyhow, my question is, does anybody know if this chest is sharing the spawn of the nest?

Edit: Got it 1. min right after posting this! Razormaw Hatchling and Crimson Whelpling in 3 hours! Happy time.

Ran in to the cave. looted a chest, ran back to the opening and then took another way and found a nest. took 2 min max! :)

it seems that everyone has alts at the eggs lol i just decided to get this guy for my pally instead of buying it and as soon as i whent there i saw a lvl 45 undead lock... WHY the @#$% would a lock be sitting right infront of the cave... anyways he apperantly took the egg said it was to the left as the above posters mentioned anyways im going to come back in a couple hours put some info if the egg spawned or not happy hunter!

There has been an important change to this NPC and it's Nest which I wanted to confirm and had a GM response back so I will post here.

Prior to the 4.0.3a Shattering patch my observations were in line pretty much with what has been posted here including spawn timer and the random locations. Since 4.0.3a there is a big difference. I only started waiting for this Nest again yesterday since the patch went live and noticed right away two things.

Every re-spawn was in the exact same position @ 70.1, 29.3, together with nearly every time the Razormaw Matriarch spawned right next to the Nest.
The re-spawn rate has been substantially buffed. It is now closer to 1-2 hours. The fastest respawn I recorded was within 55 minutes], mostly around the hour.

Just to confirm this is the response back from the GM on my ticket asking if the faster respawn and static location was working as intended;
"I have investigated your report and can confirm that this is working correctly, with no associated bugs. A lot of spawn times have been changed with the last patch due to new content."
Also by way of confirmation, after hourly checks over about 24 hours all told, I am looking at 12 of the Razormaw Hatchling in my bag, which is almost indecent and personally I preferred the old random spawns and longer times.

Comments: The spawn location is at the end of the raised rock area surrounded by water. Coordinates may have changed since 4.0.3a as it does not exactly tally with others provided but is as indicated where I stand now.

Even with GM confirmation it is never possible to be certain so it may still be a complete fluke or changed but reflects my experience in game at the moment.

Previously, on occasion the rare spawn Matriach was spawned but it never seemed to matter as the Nest could be up near it or in another place and not linked. On the occasions it was not there when checking, I did a circuit just to check as before but it was never anywhere else. I can't say for sure they spawn at the same time now but it has nearly always been there.

I suspect these changes are in response to complaints it was hard to get, though I also suspect because people did not always look in the varying spots.

Regarding the other Hatchling Nest spawns, I can not say I have noticed any great change from regular checks before and after the patch release. This is why I was surprised by the change here. If anything the Un'goro Ravasaur spawn seems less often but with the new Alliance flight path and quest hub close by now, it may well be having an impact. The other two seem much the same with the Darting Hatchling Nest perhaps also less often but that can just be down to more people looking. This is a clear change, at least on my realm and it seems is intended.

Either way it will effect the market for these quite a bit with a lot more likely to come to the auction house and easier to get for collectors out searching.

it will be interesting to hear how it is for other players.

Got the razormaw by accident flying my guildie from my bf's account. It sits on the ledge in the back of the cave on Raptor Ledge. We all had the bet, so I gave it to my boyfriend's brother. He adores the little baby raptor, playing with it and shtuff when it's just a non-interactive pet. ^_^ (I need to roll a Hunter with him. He'll adore it. :D)

Btw, grabbed the pet about an hour ago. Maybe hour and a half.

I got my Razormaw Hatchling inside the cave on top of something that looks like a platform, ledge not sure but that area is surrounded by water (Refer to screenshot 3 of 5) . During that time, the Razormaw Matriach spawned near the nest. On a side note, for miners you can mine Iron and Tin nodes inside here.

Word of caution: Although it's a relatively small cave, I got lost for a few minutes trying to figure out where was the exit. (Guess I was too happy after acquiring all 4 baby Raptors on the first run >_<)

Just got this after searching for the other raptor pets. This was the only one that I didn't bump into the rare spawn with. The nest is rather big. Found on bleeding hollow at 11:15 am est now to decide if I want to sell this little guy or use it for myself

Go into the cave and keep on the rightmost path. You will go into a room with shallow water and a ledge in the middle of the room, the nest is on the ledge.

So I have spent the day checking all 4 nests on 4 different characters with tom tom hourly. I charted the last few captures and misses, and ended up discovering what I hope will help you find your pet:

Server: Maelstrom, 2/27-2/28 2012

Razor:
8pm, 10:48, 12:13 - No matriarch present at 12:13.
Not up at 11:30 or 12:10

Takk:
9:15, 10:54
Not up at 12:10

Dart:
8pm
Not up at 9:15, 10:50, 11:30 or 12:10

Ravasaur:
10:54
Not up at 9:15, 11:30, or 12:10

Conclusions:
The spawn timers are not shared, can be as low as an hour and a half, and whether or not the rare spawn is up has no effect on whether or not the nest is present.

So, i went down into the cave, and found the rare - killed it... no nest.

I circled the cave, and went out killing various raptors, and even some whelps in persuit of the whelpling companions... went back into the cave an hour later, and i was shocked to find the nest -- but no rare.

So if you see the rare without the nest, don't give up, it will spawn!

On my server people rarely bother to loot this little gem of a pet. I took one of my alts that I never play anymore and planted him on top of where the nest spawns. I hop on him daily to loot this sucker and then after I have a few in my inventory I hearth to Ironforge, mail them to my main and sell them for big bucks.

Recently I've also begun stockpiling some for when the pet market hopefully explodes in MoP.

Just got him on ( ravencrest USA) at about 8:40-ish the rare was there and so was the nest. Turns out i already have him so going to tell sell him!

I got my Razormaw Hatchling at 69.9, 29.1 on a ledge surrounded by water in a cave to the north, the rare was there as well.

Got lucky as hell! Walked right into the cave and both mom and nest were there plus a treasure chest. Killed momma, looted the nest and the chest - pet + blue wep in 30 seconds. Woot!

For whatever it's worth, this cute little guy spawned at ~14:40 server time, EST, on Dalvengyr server today Sunday April 7. I decided to try and go find him and I went to the spot in the cave and he wasn't there. Disappointed, I went and took my dog out at 14:30 for 10 minutes or so, and when I came back, the nest had spawned literally underneath me! What luck. :)

PS - Logged back on at 18:30 and he was there again so apparently the re-spawn timer is less than 4 hours.

Just found at 8:54 AM PST. I did not have to kill any raptors, the next was just spawned when I flew into the cave. I am not sure if I was just lucky or not. The nest was located in the cave at 69, 29. The cave entrance is located at 69, 35. Do not be clueless like me and fly around the top of the mountains because of the icon on the map.

This is still valid. The nest was not spawned, but I waited for around 3-4 minutes and it came at the 69,29 spot :) Go get it for your collection!
