Jadefire Tricksters can cast the charm spell "Cause Insanity" on you: "Charmed. Attack speed increased by 50%. Movement speed increased by 80%."
It lasts several seconds, and *will* blow your cooldowns.

This mob is currently (13-10-2007, patch 2.2.3) bugged. Once the "Cause Insanity" spell has been cast on you, the Trickster will act as if it is out of combat. That means it will return to its original position and regenerate to 100% hp and mana. It works the same way if you are fighting a larger group of mobs and get this effect cast on you; they will all reset. Worse though, is that you sometimes start running around when under the influence of the spell - this can cause you to aggro other mobs as the spell lifts from you. I questioned a GM about it, and s/he said that Blizzard were "aware of the problem" and that I should "ignore this problem in the meantime".
Luckily, "Cause Insanity" isn't cast that often. From all the kills I made, I only got it cast on me 3-4 times. You can still easily complete the quests these mobs are linked to, as it shouldn't cause you too much problems. It is, however, a good idea to be a bit careful as the corpse run back will be quite long.

Probably the most
awesome
thing that this bug has caused for me is when I was attempting to kill Xavaric, his two Trickster adds would constantly mind control me (a Warlock). While MC'd my dots eventually killed him... but I didn't get credit for the kill.
I also managed to cast a Soulfire and blow Perception during all of this. Very annoying.

It seems the max range for the trickster's spells is 30 yards. That means you can stand at max range as a hunter and not get hit by neither curses nor Cause Insanity.
I tried this on several of them, and wasn't hit by anything.

Funniest looking thing ever, you lean forward about 90 degrees as you charge all over (at least on a draenei). Shame there were no huge iron doors to ram with my head.

Using entangling roots on these guys is a bad idea; they will immediately retaliate with cause insanity.

cause insanity also makes the satyr mobs green(friendly)
to u. that explains when a dwarf hunter (i was s a playing as a gnome)turned red to me fr a short amount of time so that mean the another sucky thing about thing about this debuff is that frienldly players cn attack u during the debuff

These are
TERRIBILY
annoying for Hunters (probably also Warlocks and others with pets) since they can charm you, and "force" you to attack your own pet. So if they find you good to charm, then
mend your pet
everytime you can, and use
Viper Sting
to drain their mana.
They sometimes also use your spells. Hah, one of then used my
Bestial Wrath
. Died by his own trick :P
Hunter Note: If you fight 2 or more, and you are charmed when one of them dies, another of the Tricksters names will be grey, but don't worry, your pet won't take all the credits. You both get XP and will be able to loot.

When afflicted by Cause Insanity from this guy, you will act as if a Gnomish Mind Control Cap had malfunctioned. The satyrs will be friendly to you and you will not be in control of your actions. If you're the only thing (player) around that the satyrs would attack, then after a few seconds you and the Trickster will leave combat. Chances are you'll be in agro range of him when it wears off though and you'll be right back into combat.
If however you you are fortunate enough to be around other players when this spell goes off, you will find yourself attacking said players, and possibly-- depending on their level of kindness -- killed by them.
PvP flags will disappear I believe while under the influence of this spell, and be reverted to their previous state once it wears off, so if you were un-flagged before being charmed and attack an opposing faction player, you will still be un-flagged when it wears off. Likewise, if attack an opposing faction player who was charmed while flagged, you yourself will not become flagged unless you attack that player once the spell wears off.

If you enslave them, do they still use Cause Insanity?
Edit: Nope, they don't. :x

This NPC is longer located at Jadefire Run. It has been replaced with the "Whisperwind Healer" NPC's that are exposed as the "Jadefire Shifter" NPC's during the "Deceivers In Our Midst" quest.
