https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthracite
Anthracite "coal-like," is a hard, compact variety of mineral coal that has a high luster. It has the highest carbon content, the fewest impurities, and the highest calorific content of all types of coals, which also include bituminous coal and lignite.
Anthracite is the most metamorphosed type of coal (but still represents low-grade metamorphism), in which the carbon content is between 92.1% and 98%.The term is applied to those varieties of coal which do not give off tarry or other hydrocarbon vapours when heated below their point of ignition. Anthracite ignites with difficulty and burns with a short, blue, and smokeless flame.
Anthracite is categorized into standard grade, which is used mainly in power generation, and high grade (HG) and ultra high grade (UHG), the principal uses of which are in the metallurgy sector. Anthracite accounts for about 1% of global coal reserves, and is mined in only a few countries around the world. China accounts for the lion’s share of production; other producers are Russia, Ukraine, North Korea, Vietnam, the UK, Australia and the US. Total production in 2010 was 670 million tons.

The fourth and final boss of Rank 8 of the Brawler's Guild, added in 5.3.
In his normal state, Anthracite is On Fire, causing him to do significant ticking damage (Smoldering Heat) every second as long as the buff is active and causing him to retaliate every time he is struck. Attacking him in this state is a very quick way to kill yourself. He will also occasionally shoot flame patches at you; do not stand in it.
When the fight begins, you get a special action button with one use. This shoots a jet of water out behind you that can cool Anthracite down, causing him to take 50% additional damage and stunning him for a few seconds. This is when you will do most of your damage against him.
To use the water jet more than once, you will have to kill adds called Ionized Water that spawn throughout the arena. When they die, they will leave a cloud of mist. Walking through it will give you another use of the water jet to cool down Anthracite.

Interesting bug on this guy: Died on my 2nd attempt, "6 minutes until release" timer appears, but my corpse is not teleported out of the arena and Release button is not working. The boss continues to wander around laying fire on the ground, at the same HP he had when I died. Another player started their match with Anthracite and his fire patches still in there. Once they won their match, I also won mine and my corpse was teleported out like normal.

Another bug with this fight: If you use your extra action button as soon as you're given the ability to, you will be ported out instantly as if you had died. Pause for a few seconds until the water adds begin to spawn before you use your extra action.

I managed to do this just barely as 511 Frost DK.
The fight should be the same for most classes so here is quick rundown on how I did it:
For this fight you will get an extra action button on your screen to shoot a jet of water from your back. You get one charge to begin with. To get more you will need to kill the adds that spawn. If the boss is left on fire he will slowly do more and more damage to you. In order to stop this you need to use your extra button to cool him and nuke him. When you cool him you will place a debuff on him. When there is about 8 seconds left on it, I switched from him and started dpsing one of the adds down. By switching when the boss has 8 seconds, he should only be active a few seconds before you can cool him again. Rinse and repeat and you should have him.
Since the water shoots from your back
make sure you stand facing away from where the boss spawns
so you can cool him instantly and start nuking! Good luck!

Be careful!
As of 5.3, Anthracite will take anywhere from 10 to 40 seconds to spawn if you move
after
you zone into the arena! Be sure when you spawn in to hold still and wait until you see him appear before engaging ~~ it was not fun having to do 11.3M damage in one minute :P

I barely managed to kill this challenger with my assassination rogue (iLvl 512) with all raid buffs up except AP.
Instead of Anticipation, I used
Marked for Death
as my Tier 6 talent on this fight as it allowed me to kill the adds much faster. As glyphs I found
Glyph of Expose Armor
extremely useful (as in almost every other fight in the arena).
To kill the adds, I used the following rotation:
Expose Armor
,
Rupture
,
Marked for Death
,
Envenom
,
Mutilate
/
Dispatch
until 4 or 5 CP,
Envenom
(of course,
Slice and Dice
should be up all the time). If my add was walking towards Anthracite or a fire patch, I used
Kidney Shot
to stop it.
At the beginnig of the fight, I waited for the whisper from the little robot, prepotted and got into Stealth.
Before using my first
water
, I killed one ionized water (at the beginning of the figth two waters spawn in two different corners. If you're standing in the wrong corner, use
Shadowstep
. Try to attack the water with
Mutilate
while stealthed because of
Shadowfocus
.) Then I
sprayed
one water, popped all CDs and used the normal rotation (do not forget to use
Expose Armor
on the boss, too). When the stun on the boss expired, I used my second water.
Do not use your water, as long as the boss is stunned as this won't extend the stun resulting in a wasted water!
When only 5 seconds or less of the second stun were left, I used
Shadowstep
on the farthest add, killed it and used water again. Rinse and repeat.
If you see, that there isn't enough time left to kill another add, use
Marked for Death
on the boss.
Do not use Marked for Death on the boss, if it will be necessary to kill another add since then the cooldown won't reset!
This boss cost me some nerve, as it is RNG where the adds spawn and where they are running. With my equipment it was impossible to win the fight when the add I was attacking walked into the fire or Anthracite as the add gets killed but doesn't grant any water. Even when everything went perfect and I won the fight in the end, I had to kill the boss while he was
On Fire
and I died the same second as Anthracite from the Enrage.

I seriously hate the Ionized Waters. They freely just wander right into the fire and disappear. Annoying as hell.

By far the most poorly designed Brawler's boss in my opinion. First of all, when you enter the arena and if you move even a little bit the boss takes about 30 seconds to spawn. (that goes away from your berserk timer). Second of all you have to be facing away from the boss to hit the water jets and sometimes it didn't hit even thought I was facing away from the boss. Third, the adds that spawn, Ionized waters or something, they get line of sighted by the helicopter guy in the air. For example if the ionized water goes under the helicopter you can't hit it.

If you're having trouble with this fight, there is currently a way to stack the odds in your favor. If you have a class capable of resetting the fight (vanish, for instance), use it once the boss spawns and you'll be removed from the arena with 1 water charge. The next time you begin the fight, you will immediately have 2 charges of water to use on the boss-- thus eliminating the need to stop and kill an add.

As of right now (5.3) I am only able to get him to around 11% before time runs out doing 130k dps.
I assume you need around 150k dps to beat him.

The most frustrating part of this fight is the number of times the little adds would run into the boss in the time it takes me to kill one (they have an unnecessary amount of HP really). They wander randomly and even if you pick one that looks like it won't collide, it still might. The only way to stop it is to use your water charge early, which makes it a lot harder to make the enrage.

Just completed this as a Frost mage, iL 520. No easy encounter, that's for sure. I wasn't running Skada, so I didn't get a damage count, but I basically beat this guy in Time Warp. I also had the T15 2 piece bonus.
I started the fight with a LB on the boss and then used the stun. I Living Bomb'd the 2 ads and began killing one of them for the extra action bar refresh. After the ad was dead, I had about 3 or 4 seconds on the boss. When he came out, I stunned him again and refreshed my Ice Barrier.
At this point, I LB'd the boss and 2 of the closest ads, then basically popped a molly. Threw everything I had with Time Warp, Icy Veins (20% haste, not glyphed for damage), Berserking (Troll), and Frost Bomb (which is probably what made this possible) as well as Images. I got lucky with RNG early so I Time Warped with 2 charges of Fingers of Frost (don't wait for them all, just take what you can get. You want to keep your haste up and the 2 piece really helps out here). The AoE damage allowed me to kill an ad while I was dps'ing the boss. I continued on the boss and picked up another charge of water. The boss came out of the stun and I dotted him up again and stunned.
At this point I was able to burn through about 3 million health in under 10 seconds. I got much luckier with RNG than I did with previous attempts so I was able to push through to the end with FoF and BrainFreeze procs which really helped on increasing my overall damage. This guy enrages early, so you really have to be on top of your cleave damage if you're not in very high end gear. Again, I was very fortunate with my luck, but I was doing attempts on this for about 4/5 hours until I found a strategy that worked. Waiting in line to fight didn't help much either.
On my previous attempts, I would get to around 2 million health and my CDs would be up, the floor would be on fire and I knew it was pretty much over. This is why I suggest killing the 1 ad first and making sure you have a stun so you can make the most of your Time Warp on the boss.
Good luck to future mages. It was tough. Now onto rank 9!

------Elemental Shaman guide------
This guy seems hard because he hits so damned hard outside of his cooled debuff, but if you pop your Shamanistic Rage(30% less damage) or Stone Bulwark/Astral Shift(More D CD's), he's straightforeward.
I engaged him immediately with the sprayer(having my back to him so it would work), turned around- lust, stormlash, ascendence. Blew him to hell(About 30something%), with 2 seconds left on his debuff tick I turned to an add, and blew it up with my 3 remaining seconds of ascendence. Picked up the buff, popped Sham Rage and Healing Stream totem, and hit him a second time with the sprayer. 2 Cooled debuffs should do it for most of you at 510.
Good luck, and may the Earthmother's watchful gaze guide you in your time of need.

Completed as i505 Frost DK
A few things to keep in mind:
1. He moves rather randomly, so try to stun him using water when he is further away from the side where berserk firestorm begins...this will buy you a few extra seconds.
2. I found the following switch sequence most beneficial:
- 7 sec before he spawns, cast Army
- Pop potion + Pillar of Ice
- Water him immediately, Outbreak, then DPS for 8 seconds
- Switch to add, kill, get water
- Stun him with water immediately after it wears off
- IGNORE HIM, KILL MORE ADDS
- Only DPS him when you already have 1 charge of water
This way, in the final 20 seconds, you can continue with DPS without bothering to break off and find an add.
Lucky procs help quite a bit... on my successful attempt, it only took 1:45, clocking in at 156k DPS overall.

In regards to sorekaru's post:
I would like to note that if you are attempting this with a class that has no way to cheese this encounter by vanishing or feigning death to store ionized waters.. well you are in luck!
I would advise you to get an
隐形药水
or a
次级隐形药水
via the Auction House or have a friendly alchemist make you one, the mats are cheap.
The exact moment you get your ionized water buff, make sure to use your potion and wait. Note that the cooldown on these potions is 10 minutes, so if you want to ensure Anthracite's defeat, you should get your charge, wait 10 mins, and repeat until you get your desired amount of charges, allowing you to completely bypass the adds if you have a little bit of patience.
Good Luck!

This wasn't my first kill, because Antrhacite bugged the first time I killed him (enrage timer killed me)
I had 156k dps according to Recount.
I did the fight as following:
- Use water
- Get 3 holy power
- Pop all cds (with the 4000 str pot)
- Nuke as hard as you can
- Few seconds before stun runs out on boss get a new mob (yes they tend to disappear sometimes :/)
- Nuke as hard as you can
- 10 seconds left on the stun I get new one
- Repeat last step

first couple of attempts at this one for me, just working on the mechanics really getting it right but the problem I'm having is the ikkle dude who's helping out keeps bugging out and NOT climbing aboard for the ride at the start of the fight.. I've noticed when he spawns behind me on the left he tells me he is gonna help then casually just stands there as Smoldering Heat consumes my body and soul... pops on my right and he's more willing to help.. I've reloaded my UI 3 times he seems to cooperate a couple of times then goes back to his old tricks... somewhat annoying...

Can confirm as a Hunter in 5.4, this encounter is still quite buggy.
No one has mentioned yet that you must wait a few seconds at the start to use your water pack. I did as soon as he was available to hit, when his nameplate appeared, and he was not stunned.
Overall, I would take Hexos over this boss. It can be incredibly gimmicky, especially at the start when he won't get stunned even though you're using your water pack.
And killing the waters to not getting another charge, and then no adds spawning at all!
Very, very buggy. Was relieved when he was done.
Edit: Tried on alt - started the fight with NO water pack. Very frustrating for what is somewhat easy mechanics.

The last boss on rank 8. A little more harder than previous two, but not so much. Tip than i didnt do on my video: kill one water lemental BEFORE using 1st stun - it gives you time in future. To stun the boss you must stay backwards to him. When you damaging boss while he isnt in stun - he reflects alot of damage, this is not advisable. With good dmg you can kill him in 2 stuns.

As a 565 frost DK, I figured out a way to live long enough to hit the berserk timer.
When the fight starts, hit the boss with water. Then go start beating on one of the adds. When it's dead, turn on the boss until he goes hot again, then douse him, then go hunt another add.
If this is not done, then the adds do not give you a damn thing when they die, and you have no way of freezing the boss and you do not live to see the berserk timer.
As for actually killing the boss... I have no idea. I'm pretty sure it's impossible.

There are several things that are wrong or can go wrong with this fight and you can't do much about:
1)
The whole event might not start at all, and Anthracite just sits there and remains unattackable. H2-0 also doesn't say or do anything.
2)
H2-0 might not jump onto your shoulder and you consequently can't stun Anthracite.
3)
Even if you don't move at all before Anthracite becomes attackable, the introduction phase with Anthracite spawning and H2-0 spawning and jumping onto your shoulder might take 20 even 30 seconds while the enrage timer is already counting down, leaving you with less than 85 or even 75% of the time you should have. It usually takes about 17 seconds, so the enrage timer is really only about 105 seconds at best.
4)
After stunning Anthracite right away and killing the first Ionized Water when it appears, the other Ionized Water(s) might have walked into Anthracite or any of the fire Anthracite causes on the ground. Sometimes, the next Ionized Waters might only spawn when the stun is nearly over, leaving you with Smoldering Heat while you kill the Water, most likely killing you soon after. (In other words, Ionized Water may not spawn fast enough, even though there are sometimes four or more of them later in the fight. That's either a bug or really random randomness.)
5)
While Anthracite isn't stunned, the chance of Ionized Water to get killed by Anthracite or any additional fires on the ground increases drastically which, again, makes the whole fight annoyingly random.
6)
Even if you manage to kill an Ionized Water before that, the mist might just "get killed" (disappear) anyway when it's near to fire.
7)
Turning shortly before or after using the extra ability to stun Anthracite behind you, might cause it to not hit Anthracite even with a very low latency.
Smoldering Heat kills you, not instantly but fast enough that it's highly advisable to avoid it, unless you can either heal yourself while fighting Anthracite in the subsequent stun phase or you have a quick way of healing yourself with instant spells/talents and alike.
Generally, it would seem that, if you're not doing 160k+ DPS, you need to be very quick about everything in this encounter. You need a minimum of about 125k DPS to at least have a chance to win this, and even then if you don't time killing the Ionized Water and your damage on Anthracite so that Anthracite basically remains stunned 90% of the time, you don't have enough time left when you stun him after you killed the next Ionized Water to do enough damage on him, in which case you hit the enrage timer and then most likely get killed either by the rain of fire or when the stun on Anthracite wears off.
Time is of the essence. Use a keybinding to use the extra ability instead of clicking it, or a simple macro:
/click ExtraActionButton1
Don't use the extra ability if Anthracite is already stunned, as it won't refresh the timer of the stun.

This guy is actually worth a Rank 8 boss title.
Once you get the fight down though - he's cake.
Like others said - turn yourself around the get-go. That tiny little gnomish dude will hop on your back - you have about 3 seconds wait time before the flames kick in on the boss. In the upper right area you see the water button (at least for me).
While your back is turned - click it and you will douse him with water putting out the flames or else he does greater and greater damage to you as you attack him. Do that a couple times and he's dead (unless you can dps him down the first time which I *almost* did).
If not - kill an add - walk into the water explosion - fill your tank - turn around - douse the boss which stuns him and puts out the flames - dps him down.
Fun fight.

A warning to Monks: Do NOT Touch of Death him unless he's cooled.
I made this mistake tonight while just fistweaving through the damage, completely forgetting he deals whatever damage you deal to him back to you. If you're racing enrage timer and dead set on ToD'ing him then make sure to save at least 1 water charge until the end.
I ignored adds completely and used the initial water charge at ~25% on the attempt I killed him on. Assuming you can pull 110k dps or higher, 20-25% should be low enough to finish him off.

IMPORTANT EDIT:
Because its still bugged as of 14/2/2015, i tried a differend approach... I went as Blood, with dps gear, dps food, dps flask. I had buffs from: Lock, Mage, Druid and self buffs. I also used a pre pot and a second one as soon as my rune weapon came off CD, army at start and Drums of Fury. I combined Empower with Dancing+Pot at start due to procs.
When i killed it, i had about 25 secs left for enrage.

Killed him without the action button with my ilvl677 surv hunter. The button is currently bugged out, so in order to kill him I had to max out all my healing abilities since every time you hit him you get fire dmg.
One trick to notice is that if you use the dot dmg on him, he will not attack you every time dot ticks. So when ur hp is low, just use serpent sting and such and stay alive til he is dead. Hopefully u can kill him before enrage timer.
Overall, this is a very hard encounter without the action button. Don't try if you are looking for something easy.

Still bugged (28/01/15), but doable as a survival hunter.
Dot and pet-damage is not reflected, which is the major part of your dps.
As for self-healing:
Spec
CTHC
for 10 sec disengages, with
Glyph of Liberation
and use it on cooldown.
Spirit Bond
is very strong, even more if you can get some outside hp-buffs.
I used a
healing potion
about half ways into the fight, together with my second
dps potion
.
Bandages and
camoflague
heal did not seem worth it as they get instantly interrupted by the puslating aoe aura, so at max I could only get one tick off.
Now for the most important part
: Getting the killing blow on the adds (and not letting them kill themselves by fire) procs
survivalist
, and since they have such low hp (about 100k) you can keep this buff up pretty much constantly, at least until the very last part of the fight. Once I discovered this, the self-healing part became a lot easier.
As for damage:
There is some rp at the start that does not put you in combat, so if you want the most out of your prepot, wait about 10 seconds before popping it. Dpsing should be pretty self explainatory, keep your dots up at all times and just make sure you pump every explosive shot into the boss and not "waste" them on the adds. You could even make a macro for it just to be sure. Keep pet on boss all fight.
Kill off an add while your dots are on cooldown (crows/ba/explosive) to proc the heal.
Ended the fight with about 10 seconds till enrage and 29.7k dps at ilvl 679.

Think it's doable with all classes if you have the darkmoon item and a bit luck to gain the right buff.

Just mange to finish this fight today morning as Balance druid. It was terrible hard and had just one try for this tactic. The fight it self is or was still bug out on that point.
Bug: H2O not jump on your back
Result: 100% damage return from direct damage
Solution : Use Dots, lot of healing and as many damage you can do whitout killing your self
Needed : Intelect Potion, Drums, Nature Vigor talent, Stelar Flare talent and Turrets from Siege Works (3-4 turrets)
Use Intelect Flask + Mastery food .On the start just about 2 seconds before fight boss activate use turrets so they are ready to go. As soon as he activate blow all your CD + potion + Drums for heroism + barkskin + nature vigor. Try to not kill your self from returning damage and ignore vater elementals that are spawning. As soon the CD on turrets is ready use starfall to clean water elementals and put down new turrets repeat this till boss is down. Dont forget to hold rejuvenation on you and heal your self whit healing touch, so your dps will not kill you.
Manage to kill him few seconds after enrage (fire storm was about in middle) whit ilvl 683 Balance Druid. I hope this will help you to kill him before fix if there is any plan for fix anyway :)

Just experienced a bug where I killed Anthracite but the fight didn't end. There was an add still up, so I figured I had to kill it too but that didn't end the fight. The enrage timer eventually happened which killed me but left me in the arena unable to release. Additionally, all of the fires were left in the arena. After the next person won, the fires disappeared and I was teleported to the usual death spot. My next attempt I killed Anthracite again but the fight functioned normally.
Just a heads up the you might win the fight and still lose.
