Seems to be the only remaining white Marsh Walker as of 5.0. This might make him somewhat sought after if someone wants their Marshie to have the look that Marticar (the rare non-elite from Zangarmarsh that used to be about as powerful as a 70 elite during early to mid TBC) used to have.
Marticar and Boglash (who was also white but had a plague aura effect that made him green) were changed to having green skins when 5.0 dropped.

Just tamed this beauty and nicknamed it "Hex". I used a map I found via google which REALLY helped me find the path.
What you're going to want to do is follow the tracks until they stop. When they do, place a flare near where they stop... You should reveal the beast if it is nearby. At that point, apply hunter's mark for permanent vision and tame away! Following the tracks can be quite tricky and you will know if you are far away because they WILL despawn after a bit. But, don't lose hope. Only hunters can see the tracks and only hunters can reveal the pet. Good luck!
The map.
Wanted to add that when I revealed it via flare, it did not attack me. In fact, even when I started the tame, it just kept walking. And also, the tracks for this guy are called "Mysterious Tracks".
The Tracks.
EDIT: Tracks have been fixed! Rejoice!

I would like to point out that although the footprints seem to indicate that Hexapos has walked in one direction, it might have walked the other. Imagine your footprints if your feet were turned 180* around...
If you see a footprint and find that it fades, and then the previous one fades too, this is a clear indication of this. Try tracking the footprints in the other direction.
I tamed this pet yesterday.

The footprints are nice and big on this one, I got him soon after I started hunting him by simply flying back and forth to his start and stop points. Biggest challenge with him is the area is congested, so pick your taming spots wisely. Nice looking pet, one of my faves of the new rares.

Some of the hard lessons I learned spending 14+ hrs. before taming Hexapos:
1) Non-hunters can't see Hexapos or his tracks. You won't be able to see him either until you find the end of his tracks and pop a flare. This works out great in the fact you don't have to worry about non-hunters ruining your hunt.
2) I have to thank Hashupa's post for showing me the map to follow and learn the habits of my prey.
The map
3) Hexapos is one of nine new special NPCs put in with similar mechanics (but different tracks) as a challenge for hunters to tame unique looking pets. Here is a link to pictures and a little info on all of the new NPCs:
Link to info on the new Panderan hunting challenges
4) I wish there had been more information on the tracks before and I could probably have saved myself a lot of time. The tracks look just like the screenshots people have posted and are on the last link. What nobody posted yet was that those tracks are only a little bigger than the hoof print of your mount and the trail they leave is a footprint about every 25 yards and not every 1-3 yards or so like I was thinking. And like previous posters have stated, the prints are backwards to logic so trace them what would be backwards to find Hexapos and the other tamable pets.
I hope this helps others have a successful hunt.

Just tamed him 10:40pm Proudmoore, thank you so much for the guide, worked beautifully, the tracks a re a bit smaller than i imagined but if you follow in the exact direction the heel is pointing its much easier to spot from the sky (also helps you avoid angry scorpions and the like)

talk about a b*tch to find. i must have followed those tracks for over an hour losing them so many times. the footprints were so confusing cuz i was following the 3 toe part for direction. u gotta follow the heel looking part of the track at least thats what i had to do. and when u throw ur flare dont throw it on the track u gotta throw it a little ahead like ur guessing where itll step next. i had a guild member make me those purple smoke flares so i could keep track of the steps in case i had to retrace my steps. they helped so much. hope this helps happy hunting

The tracks to follow this guy were horrible, they were so small and his path is full of flying aggressive NPCs as well as ground bound aggressive NPCs, I finally saw the tracks and thought for sure I was going to have a heart attack trying to track him. When I finally found the end of the tracks I landed to keep up with them and caught the aggro of two stalkers who knocked me down to 90k health from my 300k so I feigned death and used my hunter heals and finally started taming him just to realize that he hits HARD, 25k per hit so I popped readiness plus another heal and after dropping to 60k health I had him tamed!
Totally worth it but definitely a bit of a challenge and extremely stressful!

Tamed him at 2pm server on wyrmrest, following that excellent map linked. The tracks were very easy, and he did appear tapped when revealed with the flare but there was no issue in the tame. He didn't attack at all, just kept strolling right along.
Also, the tracks are still facing reverse direction of the mobs movement, keep that in mind when trying to find them.

Hexapos is gorgeous. Well worth all the time and frustration getting him. So many mobs I had to dodge due to his being in a high level zone before I tamed him. First time, he walked out of my flare and I had to wait to pop another flare. Luckily, he hadn't gone far. I love my Hexapos. =)
He does have a few phasing issues depending on how far in Dread Wastes you are. I hadn't done literally ANY quests in Dread Wastes on my hunter, and actually had zero issues tracking him beyond dodging mobs, so I'm thinking if you haven't done quests, you're better off since he doesn't seem to get lost in phases if you have a "clean slate". I tamed him near a mantid swarm and almost died after tame due to aggro'ing about 20 mantids after the tame. Hexapos decided it would be a great time to run far away, aggro stuff, then run back to me, like some tamed mobs like to do.
We lived, and I now have my gorgeous white water strider. He will make a gorgeous partner for Glimmer. These guys are the only two water striders I have tamed and love. Even if you hate water striders, tame this one. You will fall for him, just like I did. He is so unique and attractive looking. I use him over Savage, who seems to be the most coveted rare in Mists. She's pretty, but she isn't quite as unique.

One question - does Hex consistently travel in one direction? In other words, does he always start at the North point near Rikkitun Village and travel to the South end in the Briny Muck? Or vice versa? Knowing this along with using Hashupa's excellent map would make it pretty easy to hunt him down once we run across a track.
评论来自
Drathellia
Hexapos grants "surface trot" which allows water walking and "still water" which is a passive buff of 10% to spell power and 5% to critical strike.
Tip: wait for hexapos' foot prints to appear at or near his start point along the cliff north of the briny muck (the prints are backwards so follow the heel of the print:FIXED?) "follow" the prints to the "lake of stars". You have to be a little ahead of the prints to catch the rare pets so find the LAST PRINT in each Set of Foot Prints before it disappears and a new set then reappears further on. Using your flying mount is easiest. Wait for prints to get closer to the north end of the "lake of Stars" and then QUICKLY pop your flare in the open greener area located between the two little darker colored "hills"(as shown on your map) north-by-northeast from the north end of the lake towards the battle scar area were all the Mantids are. His path crosses right thru the middle of the two little hills. (Tom Tom is 66, 55) or just about...
I caught him there just now today, posted this just after catching him and it seemed to me like a lucky place to catch/tame him because there aren't any npc's milling around to interfere with taming.

Just tamed him (Dec 9, 2012) and can confirm that
as of 5.1, his tracks still point backwards
as was posted on Petopia forums:
(forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18527)
- As of patch 5.1, pawprints (Savage, Bloodtooth, Bristlespine, Stompy, Rockhide, Portent) lead FORWARDS and clawprints (Glimmer, Patrannache, Hexapos) lead BACKWARDS. For backwards tracks, instead of following the toes, you follow the back of the prints to the next fresh one

When I used Flare and even started taming him, he just kept on walking. Once he was out of my flare, he disappeared again. Even if you attack him, he keeps walking. I placed a Serpent Sting on him and that kept him from disappearing again and allowed me to successfully tame him!

Just caught him. 1:58AM.
Had to follow his tracks for quite awhile because the flare was either falling just short of where he just walked or I was temporarily interrupted because of an attack and then had to relocate his tracks and follow them some more. But once you get a good flare on him - immediately Hunter's Mark him and then it's all donkey from there.
He's pretty awesome - so worth the treacherous effort.

Note: dismiss your pet in advance, because otherwise dismounting (and the automatic pet resummon that comes with it) seems to dismiss your MC'd strider.

This is where I went:
62.1 28.7 (This is the exact spot of where one of his tracks appeared.)
TomTom waypoint:
/way Dread Wastes 62.1 28.7
This spot is on a path that appears carved into the rock with the root of a gigantic tree going over head. There aren't any mobs here to aggro and it is near the middle of his entire path. All I did was stand in the path and spam a flare. After about 20 minutes he came walking through.
Don't forget to place your hunter's mark on him as he moves quickly out of the flare.
Hope some people find this helpful. Good luck!

I just tamed this guy. The tracks don't go backwards, he does a turn around at the end of the top left of the map tracks. That threw me until I followed him and caught up with him once again. The mobs were horrible, once you caught him in the flares they came and attacked. Just be patient, he will cross a dry creek bed after the wall where the Krik'think Hiveling are lined up. The only creatures by the creek bed are calves so they won't attack. Good luck, hope this helps.

Just an extra trip, sorry if it was listed and I didn't see it. When you see the prints, make sure to drop your flare several feet AHEAD of the last visible print to land it on/in front of him so he'll pass through it and you don't accidentally drop it behind him and miss him. I know this is kind of obvious to some people, but maybe it'll help others out :).

I remember back in patch 5.0 or 5.1 when I tamed this guy how dreadful it was to track him. Spent almost an hr...& back then I believe the tracks had to be followed backwards & I was following it forwards. The all-white/pink skin is the best looking outta all the fen striders in my opinion. I use this guy on Timeless Isle when needing to catch Evermaw & don't have a DK friend around for water walking. The water walking buff lasts 10mins btw &
you must be in Beast Mastery spec to tame
! Not a very good raid pet but the Still Water buff is nice for casters. Tracked for my bf too & as soon as he dinged 90 he tamed him as well. Patience is key to finding these guys unless u know the patrol path by heart....I don't of course. Good luck all.

As of 6.0.2, without Hunter's Mark, Hexapos is tamable by standing at 62.1, 28.7 (h/t to dle0105 for coords) and spamming both Flare and Freezing Trap until he shows up. His time to complete the full path is about 40-42 minutes.

Now that hunter's mark has been removed, if you uncover him using flare, hit him immediately with a freeze trap-- you don't have time to tame him before he moves out of the flare.

I went for Hexapos right after taming Portent. I found Hexapos to be a bit more difficult as its path is not as straight-forward. By that I mean its tracks may walk in one direction but it frequently turns a bit to one side or another. Additionally there were some locations with aggro mobs or elites which made it much harder to try to tame there. Please note that Hexapos is not a fast walker.
Additionally, the location that worked for me to tame was around 46.8/59.6 where it begins walking down the road which is a bit west/NW of Kypari'Zar.
The path is very predictable here.
I cleared one mob, put down a freeze trap, flare, and got it first try on this road.
Overall, I find hunting and taming these beasts to be more fun than camping the spirit beasts from TBC :)

run ahead of him a bit
Ancient Hysteria (lasts 40 seconds only)
dismiss core hound
drop flare just a bit ahead of the next foot print as it's made
haste pot
tame as soon as you see him

On 6.2.4, Hunters do not have mark of the hunter anymore. As a lvl 100 hunter you must be very fast since you cannot damage him or use concussive shot. Snake trap is useless as well. PS.: Hexpos runs like hell, he doesn't care.
Once you see a new foot print appear you immediately release your flare and throw a freezing trap on the walking bastard. Click and (for the love of god) do not misclick it because it will be very hard to get another chance.
Ghlyps, haste potion, hysteria - as mentioned before - and other tricks may help you but I did without it.
GL and be patient.

- follow tracks
- flare when they ends
- throw freezing trap at hexapod (you dont have to see him, trap will still trigger)
- wait for flare cd to go down
- reflare
- tame
- high five yourself

I tamed mine in 8.3 and it's very easy but you may have to wait for an hour or so. Go to 62 29 in the Dread Wastes (Pandaria). Keep ice trap down and flare on top of it in the middle of the path. He'll come by eventually but you must use your flare and trap on cooldown as he moves quickly. I tamed one and the next one came by in about 1.5 hours so I guess that's roughly the respawn time. Enjoy. :)

Since they took Hunter's Mark away from Beastmaster Hunters, you can also tame this guy by getting him in a frost trap and then taming him while he's CCed.
If he walks just outside of your flare, or your flare runs out, I can confirm he WILL remain in your trap even while he's "invisible". So just put another flare down and tame away.

If you cannot find his prints on your first run, it is a good idea to go back - the map of his path is not very precise, so you could be very close to him and not see him. The footprints still show his direction correctly. Good luck!
