Positioning
Rotface is a 1 Phase encounter very similar to Grobbulus. Initial positioning is for the tank to grab the boss where he is and turn him around backing up just slightly but staying inside the inner circle of the design on the floor. Melee and ranged should stack behind Rotface, also inside the design. This is the 'safezone'.
Ooze Flood
Throughout the fight, Ooze will poor out of the canisters hung on the wall, covering about 25% of the room outside of the safezone. The Ooze is random, except that it will not fall in the same place until it has fallen in the other three quarters of the room also. Each Ooze Flood last ~20 seconds.
Mutated Infection
Also through the fight, Rotface will cast Mutated Infection on a raid member which will deal 4k damage and reduce healing received by 50%. It last either 12 seconds or until cleansed. When removed either way it will spawn a Small Ooze so the player targeted with this should move to the Off Tank who should now be standing outside of the safezone, preferably in a location that just finished Ooze Flood if it happened already.
Small Ooze
Once the Ooze has spawned the OT should grab aggro and begin to kite it. The player that dropped the Ooze should return to the safezone. The Small Ooze has 2 abilities. The first is it will target a player and cast Sticky Ooze near them (not on them). This is a smaller easily avoidable puddle of Ooze that deals 4k damage per second and decreases movement speed by 50%. The other ability is Weak Radiating Ooze which does damage to all players within 10 yards of the ooze.
Ooze Merge
When a 2nd player gets Mutating Infection they should run just behind the Offtank and in the path of the first Ooze and should be cleansed to drop their Ooze there.
The Offtank should grab aggro on the 2nd Small Ooze while the player runs back and the tank should try to get the Oozes together if they aren't already.
The 2 Small Oozes should merge to create a Big Ooze, which the Offtank should grab aggro on and continue to kite. The Big Ooze has the same abilities as the Smaller Oozes, except instead of Weak Radiating Ooze, it has Radiating Ooze which deals more damage. They also have Unstable Ooze which increases their damage by 20%. This is stacked each time a Big Ooze absorbs a Small Ooze.
From now on, the Small Oozes should be dropped in front of the Big Ooze. When the Big Ooze has absorbed 5 Small Oozes and its Unstable Ooze reaches 5 stacks it will cast Unstable Ooze Explosion. This will target several random people and launch projectiles into the air targeted at where they were standing. Everyone should move out of the safezone (since that is where everyone is standing, that is where all of the projectiles should be aimed.) Once the Big Ooze has exploded, you will have to merge 2 Small Oozes again and start the process over.
Slime Spray
Throughout the encounter Rotface will also cast Slime Spray which deals 6k damage per second to everyone in its path so players should move out of it quickly.
Thats it. Much like Grobbulus, the process repeats until the boss is dead.

Were the small oozes changed? I cannot taunt them or get them to stop chasing the person that dropped them. Once two people get together and form a large ooze that ooze is now tauntable and will follow the tank appropriately. Even after large ooze is formed the small ones are not tauntable. The person who is cleansed MUST run it into the large ooze or it will chase them forever.

On the overview on this page there's one thing that's incorrect.
Note that if two Big Oozes merge, they will "cancel" each other - both will just die. Utilizing this should make both the fight and the achievement associated with it easier.
When 2 big oozes combine they don't cancel each other. They simply combine into one big ooze that has 2 stacks of unstable ooze, at least for 2 big oozes that hadn't absorbed any small ooze. Not sure what would happen if one that had multiple stacks combines with another.

The changes made to Rotface were an effort to fix a bug that fell through the cracks in development and testing. The previous iteration of Rotface in 10 player difficulty used (and still uses) the same timer as the 25 player difficulty version when dispersing its Mutated Infection ability.
What this means, plainly, is that a disproportionate number of people were being put out of the fight near the 30% mark in 10 player (by a large percentage) versus 25 player, making the entire fight much more difficult than intended.
Obviously if you severely outgeared the fight, none of this mattered to you. The HP change will have no effect on your 10 player clears. You will, in fact, still kill Rotface.
The 25 player version of Rotface remains unchanged.

We put some attempts on this tonight.
We don't majorly overgear the encount, mainly 10man gear with a splash of 25man.
The biggest problem we has was ooze spawn rates.
It started off slow and manageable and slowly sped up, but when we hit about 1 mil HP, the disease was just be spammed like crazy and we got overrun.
Also, any thoughts on when to Lust ? early at the start when there is maximum dps on him or towards the end when things get crazy with the disease being spammed ?

Hard to tell what we're lacking here, but we made about 15 fail tries on this boss today in 10-man.
On the good tries things basically went well until he was down to about 30% health, and then the mutating infection rate just went crazy and in about 15 seconds flat we wind up with half a dozen small oozes and a couple of big ones running around as we descend into total chaos and wipe.
Still trying to figure out what the key to this encounter is. The cleanest tries involved 3 healers, but the spawn rates just got out of control, so I am thinking that perhaps we need just 2 healers and our very best dps.

Ok, so my raid has been wiping on this due to the Mutating Injection rates. From what I am reading from posts, it may be easier to have three tanks. One tank on the boss, and two kiting big oozes. It sounds like the rate of injections will speed up after the big oozes explode at 5 stacks.
So a the strat would be, create a big ooze and the 1st Big Ooze tank begins kiting. The next two injections come out and start a 2nd big ooze, the 2nd Big ooze tank starts kiting. Those two tanks need to meet up and join a single big ooze. This will create one Big Ooze with 2 stacks instead of 4. This helps because the other way of doing it, every small ooze combining to the big ooze adding a stack, and cause the big ooze to explode faster and thus speeding up the Injection rates. Keep creating a 2nd big ooze and combining until it explodes. This should buy more time for the raid.
If anyone can confirm this please let me know. I would also like to know that if this is true, would it make more sense to let each big ooze get to 4 stacks and then combine them?

What happens if you don't remove the Mutating infections? After 12 seconds does it disapear or does the small ooze pop out anyway?
Our 25 man starts getting overwhelmed around 30%.

If you have having problems on Rotface 10, try two healing it.
My guild was going through hell with this guy. We spend 6-8 hours wiping on him the week ICC came out. Our best attempts got him to 14% before the nerf and to 8% was our best after it.
When we added another DPS and with a little luck we downed him.
Our numbers are between 4k and 6k with a rogue at the top. If you have everyone pushing 6K+ you can try for 3 healing it.
I found no guide or comment on this boss suggesting this before. We have been using 3 healers on all fights up to this point.

My guild has been making tries on this fella in its 25 man version, and the biggest problem we had was this: Apparently when someone in the raid dies another ooze spawns and goes for the closest healer. DBM doesn't tell you about this, and the little one remains at the center of the room dealing damage to the entire raid without being noticed for a long time. We're not sure about how to deal with these new ones.

I've done this boss several times and for some reason when its a guild run, we lose the small ooze aggro right off the start. On a try, I got disease and ran out first where I was then dispeled. The small ooze immediately took off towards the raid group.
What can be causing this? I spend the next 10 seconds firing off spells at the ooze to regain aggro. But it seems weird that "my huge aggro lead" is not there when I am cleansed.

10man tips:
-stop what you're doing and move out of the Slime Spray
-avoid those little green puddles
-it is much easier to heal through the Small Ooze's attacks and aura than it is to heal through the initial debuff, so dispell it as soon as the infected player starts moving out of the group
-when the Big Ooze explodes, spread out a little and watch out for another spray, move if it happens, as an explosion might not kill you but a spray just might
-so far, the accelerated rate of infection debuffs seems to be based on the number of Unstable Explosions, so the more DPS done and the more time it takes to get 5 stacks on the Big Ooze, the better
1 Main Tank
Tank the boss in the center of the room with their back towards the ooze tank to ensure that they, along with any kiters, will not get hit by Slime Spray. This will require the main tank to
rotate their position in the center to keep their back aligned with the other tank
that's circling the room.
1 Big Ooze Tank/Kiter
Use taunts and ranged attacks to kite the Big Ooze around the edge of the room.
If there's an Ooze Flood in the way, run through it quickly
while calling out for more heals. Do not bring the Big Ooze towards the group or try to face-tank it.
2 Healers / 6 DPS
Stay on the opposite side of the main tank and get as close as possible to Rotface. Strafe or run through the boss to avoid Slime Spray and then resume that previous position. Players with Mutated Infection should run through Rot and through the main tank and all the way to the ooze tank to combine their oozes. This process starts when both oozes are less than 10 yards away from each other.
It is their responsibility to get in the right area to combine, not the ooze tank's
, who is busy trying to hold aggro and not get one-shotted.
Optional:
-ranged DPS with the infection can get at least 10 yards from the group, get dispelled, and keep DPSing while the Small Ooze attacks them, as long as healers can heal through it, which would postpone an explosion (this is not confirmed, and the player would want to be in an area where he could quickly run to the Big Ooze in case they get a second infection)
-if a healer is having a problem keeping people alive while avoiding sprays, they could sit in front with the main tank and not have to worry about moving (this is not confirmed, so I do not know if it is possible for the main tank side to get a spray)

I just wanted to Pass along the strat that my guild used in downing this guy. We are in no way a stellar pack of super raiders or anything and this seemed to be the only way we were able to down him, using the normal strat we were wiping at 40% and this one we were wiping at 15% until we had managed to down him after the 3rd attempt at the new strat.
Please note this is for 10 man normal we have not tested this on any other difficulty or raid scale

So here is the strat...
Tank pulls boss and tanks in the center of the room and turns him away from the raid.
Dps and heals stack on his Butt just like normal
OT will dps the boss until the first debuff is applied.
Then he will run out to the outer ring.
The players will be cleansed asap. They WILL NOT move from the center the OT will taunt the big ooze the second it forms. This allows the dps and healers to focus on healing/dpsing rather than running, its a little more work for the tank but the raid gains dps because of it
We found the small oozes damage was more or less negligible in 10 man reg and could easily be healed through. And because the healers had no risk of moving and no problems with aoe healing , we had free reign to aoe heal everyone near by with only minor hots on the OT. And the large ooze though dangerous if left in the raid too long, was a limited risk If taken out immediately and the raid was able to be topped off via wild growth, chain heal, and that aoe heal priests do (cant remember what its called)
Eventually the big ooze will collect enough oozes to explode (something around 5 or 6). When this mob explodes you have to try to dodge the mini projectiles it shoots out, if your topped of you should live but it will do alot of damage.
The ooze cycle happened 2-4 times, but the run we downed Rot Face we suffered no deaths except for me at the last second, due to the slime explosion.
So long as the big ones are picked up in a timely manner and the dps stays behind the boss at all times avoiding the slime spray this is an easy fight.

I would expect Rotface to be the first boss to really challenge average guilds as well as end most pugs for a least a few weeks. The ooze mechanic requires quick and coordinated reactions from pretty much everyone in the raid, every time you engage, where as one or two people ignoring bonespikes or attacking the wrong adds on Deathwisper wouldn't necessarily result in a wipe.

In either 10 or 25m I suggest having your ranged dps / healers stand in-front of the boss while the melee stays behind. This means that ~1/2 the time the ranged will have to stop casting and move. If all the ranged are behind the boss, every time Rotface slime sprays ALL of the ranged have to stop casting and move. That is a considerate amount of dps loss and hard on the healers. But that is what people do for reasons I am unaware of.
Wowikki has this info: In regular intervals, Rotface uses Slime Spray. He turns in a random direction (this ability is not targeted on specific players). However, I find this debatable. Every time I have fought Rotface, 90% of the dps/healers were behind the boss and his slime spray targeted to that side almost every time.
From my experience on my arcane mage, doing it both ways, I've increased my dps by ~1000 by standing in the front, reducing the amount of wasted GCD's by ~10-15 per attempt. You could also have just the healers in the front, if healing is the issue, to reduce the amount of times the front gets the spray. Personally, If I was the RL of a hardcore, hard mode guild, I would have the casters without many instants in their rotation stand in the front. Holy Paladin, Resto shaman, Arcane mage, Destro lock, etc.
If anyone sees an issue with this strat let me know.

I noticed that when a person who spawned a little ooze died, the ooze's aggro table went back to normal and hitting him with a ShR could bring him on me, so when you see a little ooze that is loose, you may just want to take it on you and bring it out of the raid.

On 25ppl hard mode there is one significant change: Professor is casting on ranged targets
Vile Gas
so they have to stand in 8 yards from each other. At the moment could not clarify what changes are in 10ppl mode.

Special note for mages:
The Small Oozes can be snared, which means that a well aimed Cone of Cold is going to keep some of the hurt it dishes away from your fragile body.
Also I have taken to Frost Novaing them so that other people who are being trained by slimes or the Offtank who is kiting the Big Ooze can more easily merge them together - otherwise it can be frustrating and time consuming and/or dangerous to dance around other Small/Big Oozes in attempt to cajole them into merging.
Also, do not use Ice Block when you get the Mutated Infection; the Small Ooze Will go crazy and it will sit in your raid as long as you are in Ice Block

Finally killed this on 25 man and did a few things that may be useful. To try to avoid damage on slime sprays we had Group 1 and Group 3 stand on left leg and Group 2 and Group 4 stand on right leg. This should make it that not everyone has to move on slime spray. Also the main tank will move in front of Rotface right as Slime Spray ends so that dps doesn't have to move twice on a slime spray. We also had 2 healers stack on the main tank so that healers can be more spread out to avoid having to all move on Slime Spray. We also tried to dispell almost as soon as the debuff was put on someone. The person dispelling would try to see that the person was moving the right way before dispelling to avoid multiple big oozes but towards the end it got a little hectic. The main part of the fight that we lost people on was the explosions. To minimize deaths that way, the main tank would move the boss all the way from the middle to the wall farthest from the explosion. I think this last part was probably the key. Most of our attempts had the main tank move only slightly from the explosions but pulling the boss all the way to the wall forced the dps and healers to move.

The only change to this fight in heroic mode is the added element of the Vile Gas effect, the same skill that is used during Festergut.
"Vile Gas - Inflicts 3,900 to 4,100 Shadow damage every 2 seconds for 6 seconds to players in the targeted area, and additional 3,900 to 4,100 Shadow damage to all friendly targets within 8 yards. Disorients the main targets."
This means you have to keep a proper amount of ranged people (3 for 10man and 8 for 25man methinks) at ranged distance at all times to prevent it from landing in the melee group. Ranged also have to keep a distance to eachother. Just like on Festergut.
It didn't increase the difficulty of the fight much however. The handling of the oozes is still the tough part. We didn't notice the ooze-kiter to be affected by Vile Gas at any time, but that might've been pure luck.

10-Man Heroic Notes
The Big New Thing is that Rotface borrows Festergut's Vile Gas. This means that 3 players need to stay away from melee range at all times, and at least 10 yards away from each other. Because of the slime floods and the offtank kiting of the oozes, these 3 players will be running a lot; I recommend healers or DPSers who can function while mobile, like Resto Druids or Shadow Priests
Note that you want 3 ranged players in addition to the offtank. When we had the OT+2, we wiped to Vile Gas on the kiting tank, who was eaten by an ooze... with OT+3, this never happened and we won immediately.
The fight does not change in any other way, except for things hurting more obviously.
Difficulty: 3/10. If you can handle Lich King's Defile, this fight should be close to a free kill.

Something I've noticed in this fight...
When you get a blob on you, your portrait will turn aggro red. Check: If the boss isn't running at you, frothing, theny ou have an ooze on you and should move to the OT.

but when a big ooze is in the middle of its unstable ooze explosion u can still merge the small oozes with it as long as the big ooze still remains this will work until it completely blows up and dies

Offtanking:
After wiping numerous times on 10man, reading the comments here and talking to my nephew who's way better than me, I thought I would repeat a comment some one has already made:
WHEN YOU KITE THE OOZES YOU MUST RUN THROUGH THE SLIME POOLS.
( Don't have to run through puddles though )
Make a macro somehing like
/rw SLIMEPOOL
and use it as you run throught the slimepool. Your healers will then know you need extra healing. Also if you are a paladin you need to cast hand of freedom because of the slowing effects of the slime. If you are not and you have a pala in your raid they need to make a macro along the lines
/target
/cast hand of freedom
/target rotface ( If the pala is dps or MT )
Trying to avoid the slimepools causes too many problems.

It's completely effortless to solo this guy at 90. Did it today, Fury, 481 ilvl, specced with Second Wind. Since he doesn't cast Mutated Infection on the tank, you never have to worry about oozes. All you have to do is stand there and dps, whilst moving out of his spray. Repeat for a few minutes and collect your loot and gold.
Festergut on the other hand...

Soloed the 10m normal version as Arms Warr with 66334 dps at ilvl 478 in def stance. Had 8 stacks of Gastric Bloat when he died. Got the meta achi Dances with Oozes since he does not cast the oozes on the one tanking him. Second Wind is pretty much mandatory.
