I'm a level 70 blood elf huntress with Mazzranache as a pet. As for me, I named her Rozy as it just seems to fit. Another hunter i saw named it Fernando which was kinda cute as well hehe. Too bad plainstriders don't have their own ability yet, still hoping one will be added in a patch sooner or later :)

I called her 'Sissy'. Whaaat?

She is VERY easy to get, a not particularly rare 'rare' spawn. Start just north of the well, then move west. She'll be there most of the time, she is a quest mob after all. Alas, she looses the deadly poison ability upon taming.

Like her plainstrider cousins, Mazz can learn cower, dash and bite and subsists on a diet of cheese, fruit and fungus. So bring a stack of Dalaran Sharp if you're intending on making her your friend.

This was my first pet tamed as a Blood Elf - did the quests to get taming, then translocated to UC, jumped the Zep to Org, ran to Mulgore and tamed him. Named him Funky Chicken. :)

Really enjoy him, but may give him up to get Humar for DPS pet and a Rotting Agam'ar (armored pig from RFK) for a tank pet.

I got it long time ago, on a deleted cow hunter. Named him Barbie (FyI, Yes its a he. The guy who gives the quest Mazzranache says this; "...to clean the infection from his bite..")
Nice little bird, maybe not the most useful out there, but i do think the pink-ness weights up for that.

Around how long does it take for this mob to respawn? I just tried to tame it with a low level hunter, just to have some jerk kill it while I attempted to tame. Thankfully he had challenged me to a duel right before he attacked it and I attacked him while Mezz, and another mob that aggrod him, went at him as well. He lost the duel and then got one shotted by the add, but unfortunately he managed to kill the one I wanted to tame before meeting his well-deserved fate. I am hoping he reappears soon (Mezz that is...could care less about the jerk), but would like to know roughly when to log back onto this hunter to try again.

Spotted him at 46, 42 on a 7 druid; killed him on the spot. He uses Deadly Poison at about half hit points, but otherwise is about as tough as an Elder Plainstrider. All that he dropped was a lousy Pioneer Cloak.

I saw Ghost Howl in the same place moments later. For obvious reasons, I didn't try to take him on.

Mazzranache is a great, surprisingly well-rounded pet!

My scary pink bird goes by Moneymaker, and I'm pleased to say that Moneymaker has lasted me from level 10 (my first pet on this char!) until the present, without a single complaint from me.

Pairing an oddball pet with a funny name is certainly a cliche at this point, but sometimes the absurdity helps me get through the hunter-y grind of things.

I initially had trouble finding Mazz when I was going to tame her, but over the course of time I've found her at generally the same spot on each encounter. There's a small dirt path, heading west from the main TB --> Bloodhoof road. Leads to the cave for the Rites of the Earthmother quest NPC--the place you follow the spirit wolf to.

I definitely recommend this pet for anyone interested in a unique experience over a focus-dumping DPS machine.

I'd love to see some names from RP servers for this type of strider, as well!

I tamed this animal quite a while back. Come patch 3.0, I was farming some Kurenei rep with my pink flamingo, PinkyMcSpam (named after Arggo's PinkyMcSteve), and I noticed a very interesting thing about this pet: every now and then he will randomly charge off and eat a rat. I'm not sure yet if it's just rats he goes after, or whether he likes eating all types of critters, but it's certainly an interesting easter egg. I'm also not sure if this behavior is restricted to Mazzranch, or whether all plainstriders behave in this manner.

This bird has a very nice talent tree in 3.0 and combined with his suave, unique look is a companion with a lot of attitude! Before this patch, tallstriders were seen as low dps "caster" or "trash" pets, but recent improvements have made it more practical to keep for grinding and raiding, especially with Dust Cloud. The only other strider with a truly unique look is the Strider Clutchmother, a lovely teal and red rare spawn you can tame in Darkshore.

As fortune would have it, while traveling across the plains, I encountered it, and it took a nasty bite from my shoulder. He was as terrible as my grandfather described.

You could argue that the use of "he" there is a little ambiguous.

While it may be true that, in the case of most sexually dimorphic birds, the males are typically brighter colored than their female counterparts, there is little evidence that tallstriders even exhibit the same form of dimorphism.

For example: Strider Clutchmother is quite obviously female, and is bright turquoise and red.

When I arrived in Mulgore to tame Mazz, he was dead. I waited to tame him, then waited to kill him again (I wanted the +agi chest). He seemed to take about 30 minutes to respawn, and both times, spawned in the far west.

i think i pulled to dumbest move in wow on this guy. just got mty 55 hunter back up and i was like "what the hell ima get a cool pet for a start" so i ride over to mulgore. i look for abotu 15 mins and i find him in the far west all excited and like "finally!". i hit tame pet but i forgot i already had a stupid lvl 50 croc i tamed out of boredem. croc 1 shots maz and now i wait :[

I've figured he patrols from east to west......

(Named after a tank i used to know... i took both Flappys with me to bot when my pet was level 9, as this was before pets insta-leveled, and since the tank and my pet were named the same thing, my pet got all the heals and we wiped a lot... ah, good times, good times)

He is the most popular of the tallstrider family as a pet, due to his flamingo-like appearance. Up until patch 1.12, he had an unusually slow pursuit speed, which has since been normalized.

He attacks with poison (a skill which is lost to him upon taming). He can also charge, which he often does upon aggroing him. It will not knock you down, but it will deal 250% of his normal melee dmg to you.

The "pink flamingo" is one of the 6 rare spawns that are located in Mulgore.

I've had this pet on & off now since lvl 10, he was also my first pet I tamed on my current hunter, lasted me until lvl 80 when I abandoned him for a rare spawn gorilla which I never ended up taming & then went back & got him again. He is named Gopala (A Hindi word meaning "Cow Protector") I thought it fit very well as I am a tauren XD I'm very pleased Blizz added a vanity pet that looks just like him, I have it & they are so cute together!

Lol, just tamed this guy on my main 72 NE hunter, named him Mazzranache(i name all my petsby there origonal names). Had him 4 times beforehand on my 26 BE hunter. Found him around Thunderhorn water well SSE from Thunder-Bluff, usually roams around that area. If u don't find him there, just look around in a general circle from the center of the well. Now i have a Taurenian Legend as a pet :D

At first he wasn't up but Ghost Howl was, so i killed that bad boy wolf and took another round to look, and what do you know, he was up.

Named it DennyCrane since they call each other Flamingos :D

Just tamed this cutie tonight after hitting lvl 10 with my orc - took the zep to TB and went searching. Found really easily just off the main path. Named her Dorrie after Dorrie Turrnell in (one of my favourite feature length cartoons from my childhood) Animalympics :D

NE Hunter tamed today (post 4.0), but the pink color is almost entirely gone.. Looks almost like a normal plainstrider. I am hoping either my color is way off or blizzard is fixing its skin, because I only tamed it because of its rare and skin color

There is now a mob called Deviate Plainstrider (non-rare) in Southern Barrens so no need to farm this guy if you are hunter and you want a pink birdie.

I just killed it as a lvl 7 and it gave me 1200 xp. Until bliz fixes this, I highly suggest killing the NPC if you see it.

My level 12 Tauren Hunter tamed it last night, named it Floyd because I'm a Pink Floyd fan anyways and the pun was amusing. I found him later in the evening at 47.16,46.58. Apparently his/her young aren't very bright because they just continued on in a line like nothing happened...

Sadly, this bird no longer has a "unique" skin. It now shares it with Deviate Plainstrider.

However, these are still the only two pink flamingos available!

I found that when you kill the mother the babies will go crazy as stated in the above comments, once the mother's body despawns the young ones despawn.

To get Mazz to respawn do you have to kill the mini Mazz critters?
Becuase Mazz has not respawned for over Two Hours and all i see is 4 little pink tallstriders wandering around.

Having the same issue. I was running about looking for Mazz for about 30 minutes and finally ran into his kids, but no him. I felt awful but I killed them all, though it doesn't seem to have mattered; it's been a little over an hour now and still no Mazz :\

ETA: 20 minutes later and he walked past me. Killed the babies for the next person, just in case.

I been waiting for this dude, and after hard work to find the wandering babies, I can confirm you need to kill all the babies to make him respawn. It will be extra work if someone already killed or tamed Mazzranache and left the babies wander off. I made a macro to spam to make sure you cawt the wandering babies:

However the Deviate Plainstriders do not retain their pink colouring when tamed, since this is is apparently a curable deformity (which you cure in the quest "Sowing the Solution".)

MMO have just released a list of mounts to be included in 4.3.

In this list are known to be tallstriders...

One of the mounts is called 'Swift Lovebird'

During this year's Love Is In The Air event, you can get Mazzranache in mount form when you purchase Swift Lovebird for 270 x Love Token. Get him while he's hot!

Special ability: Cloud Dust: reduces melee and ranged attack speed of enemies in 10 yards by 20% for 30 seconds and it has 25sec cooldown. So, not very useful in single target fights, the reduced attack speed that your opponent receives, gets compensated by the fact that your pet barely does any damage to the opponent.

I was on running around Mulgore for like 40 minutes trying to find Mazzranache, and when I minimized WoW to go on WoWHead, I heard a tallstrider screech and when I opened WoW back up, it was Mazzranache attacking me. lol

This rare spawn did have a unique pink skin until the implemention of Deviate Plainstriders.
They are very common and have a sparkly appearance; however, it does not remain upon taming.

I encountered a Mazzranache that was not hostile. It was being followed by four baby "critter" striders. The first three were of equally small size and stayed in an orderly line, their names were "Hazzranache", "Razzranache" and "Jazzrache". The fourth was even smaller than the first three, and would sometimes stray away from the other three, though it would always ran to catch up with them after a while, its name was "Spazzranache".

After I finally finished the first 12 goblin levels, and got off that bloomin' island, I decided that Mr Krabs (my crab) just wasn't working for me.. so I decided to go after Mazzranache here as a pretty cool pink bird.
I waited and waited and waited and waited for god knows how long, got bored and looked on here. Then i saw the comments of how he shares his skin with the deviate plainstrider, so I thought, lets just go after one of them then... much easier.
So I opened up the Warcraft window again, and low and behold, there stood Mazzranache, with all his little children. (or whatever they are)
So I tamed him, called him Floyd and moved on.

One of the hardest rare to find... Been following his hatchlings for four hours and no respawn... I'll see if he's there in another hour or so.

OK if you hang around south of TB but near the water well, she will come by eventually. I went there at level 12 and worked on killing and skinning beasts until she strolled by, followed by the babies. I found her northeast of the water well.

Probably best to try to find her at night when there are fewer people playing.

Firstly - the short info is it spawned at 42,43 for me, which is to the far west / left side of the circle trail you see on the map. Not up in the hills with the Harpies as others have mentioned.

After logging in a couple of times hoping for a quick tame, I decided to follow the abandoned kids - obviously Dad had been taken out earlier. Well I tracked them for over an hour - probably closer to 90 minutes. Yes I know - very bored.

Well of course some idiot Shaman eventually made up my mind about killing them and decided to eliminate them himself.

I went back up under the 3 biggish trees on the west side of the track, seemed a good place to lurk with no other mobs bothering me.

I reckon he turned up about 20-25 mins later.

So either it's a very long 2+ hour spawn. Or 30 mins after you take out the kids too.
