Doctor Weavil is part of the Ahn'Qiraj quest chain that leads to the opening of the Scarab Wall.
The beginning of the chain is "What Tomorrow Brings."

Dr.Weavil requires 15-25 people to defeat.
The fight is similar to Chromaggus.
If you get low on HP you should hide behind a wall and bandage.
Dr.Weavil hits for about 1000-2000 damage on plate, he should be tanking in a corner in the house.
He MC's random people around every 15 second, the MC'd player needs to be polymorph'd asap.
The Mind Control effect is Non dispellable.
Dr.Weavil got one AoE ability. It does around 1000 damage, and stuns for 2 sec. You can avoid being hit by the AoE if you hide behind a wall (Healers should try to find a nice spot to avoid the AoE damage)
He isn't a very hard boss, and should be easy to defeat with a nice balanced group with around 20 people.
Good luck.

Winterspring Location shows a couple crates, a banner, a barrel in snow, and a Tombstone. (He's only there for the quest).

At level 70 he is doable with 10 people or less.
His Mind control is not random, he MC the one with most threat (tank).
He is also immune to taunt.
This basicly require you to have atleast 3 tanks (depending on your dps), as first one will get MCed after 15 sec, second tank will be MCed after 2 min, then the first tank wont have time to build aggro.
This can be avoided by having a paladin start tanking (even if he is a healer), he gets MCed, bubble, and you get 2 min before your main tank gets mind control.
For other abilities see Gulorgs post *points upwards*.

The mind control effect doubles the target's health and quadruples its damage dealt. You cannot use Insignia of the Alliance/Horde to remove it, but you can Divine Shield/Ice Block out of it.

This NPC may also be found on Alcaz Island in Dustwallow Marsh, He is in compound like area full of 59-61 Elite Naga, and some other humanoids labeled as "Cronies", he is in the biggest building, and even for myself (70 pally) and a friend (70 hunter) he was a bit of a pain to get to. Another note is that this island apparently used to hold the king of Stormwind in an underground prison cell, but it is now inhabited by a naga under the name "Tidelord Rrurgaz" (sp?)

I meet this guy while exploring every single corner of Alcaz Island on a lvl 70 feral druid. I could solo everything on this island easy, but when I met that guy, I had a serious problem. Yes, he mind controls for 2 min, and that becomes a problem if you are alone there, because you simply become one of his puppets for 2 min, then when mc breaks, you are again next to him, because when he mc's you, you are "teleported" back to him, no matter how far you managed to run. And then of course, he mc's you again after a few seconds. Only way I found to get away from that was to try to get killed by his other minions as fast as possible before he could mc me again. Then, I had to corpse run all the way from theramore island ;)
So my advice would be: dont even think about soloing that guy :D

Killed him with a holy priest and an hunter (both lvl 70, tier5 / tier6 equip).
As it was said before, using a pet to tank him makes the fight trivial for lvl 70s because he won't use his mind control that way. (just don't overnuke!)
The holy priest used renew and prayer of mending (whenever it was up) to heal the pet, never went below 70% mana.
However, you might want to bring an additional friend or two to kill him faster, it nearly took us 10 minutes to take him down. Not that it was difficult or anything, but kinda boring ;)

Killed him with a ~T5 Beastmaster Hunter and T6 Pala (me) and a Def Warrior who took care of the respawned adds.
We didn't tank him out of LOS, so everyone ate the stomp, which was critical at some times, but the pet survived. Hunter had to bandage twice and I had to use a mana pot. Also note that with so little DPS his minions WILL respawn during the fight (after about 5 min). The tank just came along for kicks but was actually very helpful in pulling the minions away from us. Also, at 10% Weavil didn't use his AoE stomp anymore.
If you can find a spot where the healer isn't affected by the AoE stun, the fight is cake, as long as everyone stays below the pet aggro (not an issue for the healer). Bring another well equipped Hunter and you won't have to worry about the minions.

Just did with 7 men: 3 pala (2 holy and 1 retri), 1 rogue, 2 wars (1 tank and 1 arms) and a resto druid. Easy as pie, had the retri pala pulling and using the bubble on the first mc, then the doctor died before to use the second mc. Just nuke him really really fast using everything you got. As dps I see melees + shaman the best for it. Have a shaman with windfury totem, some rogue/war popping adrenaline rush/recklessness, go with heroism/bloodlust and he will seriously implode :)
No way to do it in 2/3 ppl anyway, the mc is way too much powerful.

Nobody even mentioned the reference..
Dr. Evil: Gentlemen, I have a plan. It's called blackmail. The Royal Family of Britain are the wealthiest landowners in the world. Either the Royal Family pays us an exorbitant amount of money, or we make it seen that Prince Charles has had an affair outside of marriage and therefore would have to divorce!
Number Two: Prince Charles *did* have an affair. He admitted it, and they are now divorced.
Dr. Evil: Right, people you have to tell me these things, okay? I've been frozen for thirty years, okay? Throw me a frickin' bone here! I'm the boss! Need the info.
Dr. Evil: Okay no problem. Here's my second plan. Back in the 60's, I had a weather changing machine that was, in essence, a sophisticated heat beam which we called a "laser." Using these "lasers," we punch a hole in the protective layer around the Earth, which we scientists call the "Ozone Layer." Slowly but surely, ultraviolet rays would pour in, increasing the risk of skin cancer. That is unless the world pays us a hefty ransom.
Number Two: ...That also already has happened.
Dr. Evil: #$%^. Oh hell, let's just do what we always do. Hijack some nuclear weapons and hold the world hostage. Yeah? Good! Gentlemen, it has come to my attention that a breakaway Russian Republic called Kreplachistan will be transferring a nuclear warhead to the United Nations in a few days. Here's the plan. We get the warhead and we hold the world ransom for... ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
Number Two: Don't you think we should ask for *more* than a million dollars? A million dollars isn't exactly a lot of money these days. Virtucon alone makes over 9 billion dollars a year!
Dr. Evil: Really? That's a lot of money.
Dr. Evil: ...Okay then, we hold the world ransom for... One... Hundred... BILLION DOLLARS!

As of Path 3.0 a level 70 warlock can solo Dr. Weavil if 20/41/0 -variant spec'd.
You may want to pick at least 2/3 Mana Feed talents so your Felguard doesn't run out of mana too much.
Killed him without much problem running 3/3 Mana Feed.

You can't solo this guy no matter what level or gear you have, it will always take at least 2 people. If you are alone he will just mind control you for 2 minutes and then reset. Except for that this guy isn't very tough and probably could be solo'd easily by any 80. I got him down 12% as a combat rogue before he hit me with his first MC. He only hits for about 80 on leather and couldn't touch me with evasion going.
Also Medallion of the Horde/Alliance doesn't get you out of his Mental Domination.

Although he IS rootable Druids... don't. Just DON'T.
His mind control is a terrible thing. He takes control of you and basically resets. You are forced to stand by his side while he lays back down in bed, where whatever meager amounts of damage you inflicted are healed up. For the two minute mind control, you can't move, change your highlighted target, or even log out.
You have a brief half second to act when your mind control wears off to RUN AWAY! I tried to stand still, change to cat form, and stealth, but he started attacking as soon as my global cooldown on cat form wore off. I had to sprint away and hide around the corner to avoid his domination.
He'll chase you, and even toss on a fast 2 second stun which stops ya dead in your tracks. Run away.
Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away!

Did it 2man with Enhance Shaman and Resto druid... Oh well actually 1 man 1 woman. After constant wipes cause me (shaman) getting MC'd, we decided to try another tactic. Druid pulled weavil in treeform, and tanked till he MC'd her. When she was MC'd all she did was Spam Wild Growth on herself, which didnt even heal weavil. And I finished Weavil easily under 2minutes alone.

Just a piece of advise, if you are going 2 man without a pet, drop it, no chance in hell if you got a warrior and a shammy for example, when he MC's you, your dmg is increased by 600% and your health by 50% or something (I got 20k hp UB, ended up at 30k when MC'ed)
So basically, you'll oneshot everything, I was doing 8k DPS on my MH and 5.7k on my OH, which rapes things pretty fast:O

I was just over there exploring - and thought, okay, 60+ elites... just kill for the loot and for fun. Never quested there before - and then I met Doctor Weavil~! After the first 5 mind controls - it was no longer funny. Asked my husband (80 Druid) to come and save me - and the Doctor and I killed him! So, he told me I was on my own. Then, I was reading the comments on here, and decided that okay - before I get a group together to RESCUE me or do the Battleground trick, I would try once more. I threw up a shield, threw a minion at him and army of the dead... Finally, I was able to get outside the door~! and away from his MIND CONTROL! Like previously stated, Do Not Underestimate this Fellow!

For hunters that want to easily solo him (any spec) will need two pieces of T5 (for 15% of your damage heals pet) and grab yourself a tenacity pet, and set all its talents towards dodge + armor + stam + heal, etc. Keep scorpid sting and mend pet up, and the fight should be easy as long as you use feign death and misdirect whenever possible.

Did this guy on Alcaz as a level 80 FFB mage with a level 80 druid and L80 shaman friend (thanks, Nationalist!). Druid went tree and punched him until he MC'ed, then we went to town on him. His AOE stuns make this harder than it seems and I was unable to burn him down with 2100+ spell dmg in the 2 min MC cooldown but as I was highest on the aggro list I just Iceblocked out of his second MC and killed him. The tree punches while MCed were not trivial, my shaman friend said.
The boss hit me for 4k+ through my ice armor.

The particular mind control he uses is VERY nasty, and I haven't seen anyone mention how much it increases damage
Most of the time when you're under a mind control effect your damage is either doubled, or it stays the same as normal. This one actually triples the damage, and boy does it ever hurt.
I went with a warlock friend in full 25 man naxx gear, and his unstable afflictions ticked for 4400 while under the buff. Shadowbolt hit for over 13k. searing pain 9k crit.
I wouldn't want to see what a full rage execute could do

I was able to solo Doctor Weavil as a level 80 Death Knight, and here's how I did it:
I set my pet to attack the good doctor. When he had my pet down to about 50% life, I popped Ghoul Frenzy (and every time it was up after that), and occasionally used Icy Touch on the doctor to get some Runic Power so I could use Death Coil on my ghoul if he needed the extra healing. I blew Army of the Dead as well as Gargoyle when Weavil was about to half health. I, myself, didn't bother meleeing at all.. I just sat back and Death Coiled or Icy Touched as needed.
Took less than 5 minutes to get him down, and he never once MC'd my pet.

Got him on the third try all alone. Iam a hunter with Gorilla Pet, iam lvl 80 survival specced. I used the stopwatch to see and count the first 15 sek he MC and then again after 2 min, which is my guest was 2:15. I put my pet down stairs in the corner from where he sleept, and as soon i hit the Missdirection and auto shot the guy, i hit the stopwatch, made a mind pet, and waited for 15 sek in out of line before i engage. after the first 15 sek, i hit all i could and watch the hp of the pet and healed when ever he needed, missdirect when it was up and watchin Omen threat meter, when i reached the 2:05 sek, i keept healing the pet and went out of line, when i passed 2.15 i went again and he was down in easy.

Easily soloed him as 80 demo lock with two pieces of t5 giving extra healing from my damage though I really don't think you need it, just a health funnel or two should compensate the lack of it.
Rest of my gear was mostly ilvl 200 epics but I don't think this is something you need gear for if you got a pet that can tank (lock/hunter/unholy dk).

Easily soloable as a lvl 80 afflock with Voidwalker. The void is immune to his mind control, so it's a simple drain tank while keeping up Corruption, then corruption and CoA once the Void had enough of an aggro gain. Once he's down to around 125k health, soul shatter and burn him down without fear of outpacing the void's aggro. Took approximately 7 minutes.
If you tank him in the back corner you can avoid pulling the mobs that ascend the staircase. It also helps to put the Void's taunts on manual in order to avoid him running out of mana.

Possible to two-man if one of you is a druid. Have the non-druid get low health from the elites around Weavil, have the that person pull and get MCed by Weavil. The druid needs to kill that person immediately, then battle-rez them. He will not mind control again (unless maybe you take too long and his cooldown comes back up).

solo'd as an 80 ret pally in 2pc 8.5, 2pc 7.5, 2pc crafted + flask and dps food. lulz.
just start fighting him and wait for the mind control. try to be at max health and mana when he does it. as soon as he does it, IMMEDIATELY, you must bubble out of it because he can't do it again for another two minutes, as the comments above state. so from the moment he casts it, you have two minutes to burn him down. the longer you wait to bubble out of it, the less time you have before he casts it again.
it was relatively simple after that. just keep sacred shield up and try to only pop your art-of-war-insta-flash-of-light (heh) when sacred shield procs, so that you get a crit and hence put a HoT on yourself in the process. this will help immensely in keeping your mana up, because it WILL go down. i had to pot at about 25% to continue fighting.
anyways, best of luck.
it's a shame i can't solo all of it, since obviously the first boss of BWL is not soloable. ;'(

Did this few minutes ago with 5 people, DK tank, Pally healer and Priest, Mage and druid DPS.
I was the Mage. You can Ice block out of the Mind Control. It doesn't always put you beside him, and your best bet is to Polymorph with the glyph to MC'd target. He's got around 326k health, which is pretty equivalent to a Heroic dungeon boss at 80. The only hard part was when he MC'd the Tank, I really wished we had a Bear Druid instead of a Moonkin because I don't take hits very well... he hits for about 500 offhand, and 1200+ mainhand on a cloth and VERY fast attack speed.
I'd like to get some lore on this guy, I heard the King of Stormwind was trapped here on Alcaz Island after being abducted by the Defias...

I have a short story to tell involving this npc. It goes something like this:
One day I, a resto shaman by day and an enhance shaman by night, decided to go for an exploration trip around Duskwallow Marsh. It was a pretty boring zone overall, with the exception of the entrance to Onyxia's Lair. When I finally made it to Theramore Isle after about half an hour of rambling about, I was itching to get myself onto the boat, and try to discover new locales. Just as I passed through the gates, I noticed a low level human paladin attempting to ride away from me on his regular land mount. Well, after seeing him run like a wimp, I decided to teach him a lesson, which I did, right at the foot of Jaina Proudmoore's tower. Then, I decided that I would rather finish my exploration of Duskwallow, instead of continuing on to new lands. Therefore, I opted to head towards Alcaz Island, which I remembered being a mysterious place back when I was a low enough level that the mobs would one shot me on sight. However, just as I left the entrance to Theramore, ANOTHER human paladin popped up in front of me, only this time he had an epic ground mount. Rather than let him escape my meaty grasp unchallenged, I tagged him with a frost shock, and then beat him into the ground. I then continued on my merry way, feeling somewhat nervous about some potential backlash from my victims' mains.
Anywho, once I had arrived at Alcaz Island, I began to systematically work my way through it, killing the hydras and naga that I encountered along the way. When I made it to Dr. Weavil's encampment, my interest was piqued. Just who was this mysterious Doctor, and why did he have a flying machine parked outside? After obliterating the mobs outside of the main building, I worked my way on inside. At some point, I noticed that a few alliance were yelling something over the chat line. Being a sociable fellow, and assuming that they were indeed the mains of the poor fellows that I had earlier knocked around, I replied with "KEK." Much to my dismay, no immediate reply was forthcoming, so I made my way onwards, scanning the building for the as-yet-unseen doctor.
At last, I made it up the flight of stairs, and beat the remaining guards into bleeding, unrecognizable chunks of flesh. Keyboard turning about, I finally laid eyes upon the form of the good doctor himself; catching a few zzz's on his bed. With the horde slogan of "Red is Ded" in mind, I promptly engaged him in battle.
It took me all of three seconds to realize that this was no ordinary npc. His health box remained quite steady, and he was laying into me for about one thousand damage per hit. Right as I was considering popping my nitro boosts and getting out of there, the little bugger stunned me. Then, as many of you who are reading this no doubt have experienced before, he mind controlled me, thus breaking combat, and making me incapable of movement for two minutes.
After standing there and feeling quite bemused for about two minutes, I decided that it was possible for me to escape, if I could just get outside of the building before he did. Unfortunately, that did not go so well, and he just managed to stun me as I was making my way out the door. Then, feeling a growing sense of anxiety, I watched as my character once again was trundled up the stairs, to stand beside the good doctor's bed. Around then, I heard strange noises coming from the stairs leading up to the doctor's room.
Looking over, I saw a sight that surprised me, and then gave me mixed feelings of anticipation, but also of resignation, with a tiny spark of hope. Who should it turn out to be but the level 80 main characters of the low level paladins that I had killed before! One of them, a mage, greeted me, and then somehow aggroed Dr. Weavil. Well, after about three seconds of fighting, the mage came to the same realization that I had come to earlier, and began to gap it out of the building, along with his druid friend. This is where it began to get good again for me.
Rather than be left alone upstairs to wait for the mage and his entourage to plot an ambush for me once they escaped from Dr. Weavil, the good doctor decided to put me, his bed-slave, to good use, Without touching any keys, my character began to lurch down the stairs, made it out of the building, and then slowly staggered towards the two level 80s that were still locked in combat with the doctor. The druid, being the more brash of the pair, promptly tried to attack me. Somehow, my character seemed to two shot him. Then, as his corpse keeled over in that pathetic night elf death shriek, the mage polymorphed me. After a rapid succession of some kind of arcane magic, I was near death. However, Dr. Weavil doesn't have that title for nothing. My still-zombified character then healed itself to full in one one-second cast, and then started to chase the mage.
Just then, Dr. Weavil's mind control broke, and I was left on my own to face the wrath of an angry arcane mage.
Obviously, I popped my spirit wolves, gave myself their speed buff, and sicced them on the mage, and then gapped it for the ocean. With a water walk and a ghost wolf, I was well away from the vengeful alliance guys in no time. Once I made it out into the deep waters, I stopped, looked around, and then hearthed, swiveling the camera anxiously around the whole time. When I was safely home in Dalaran, I heaved a relieved sigh, and then remembered to check my pants. Let's just say that I'm glad I was wearing brown pants that day. It was all worth it though; horde reputation saved! (not really, I ran like a *!@#$)

Pretty easy to two man at 80 (once we figured out how).
One person can be any class, gear, whatever. Other should be a decent DPS'er with decent health or a way to regenerate it. I did it as a fury warrior, so I kinda bet any dps class can.
Have the first person pull the boss all the way outside and the dps'er stays in weavil's room, I stood in the corner but this may not be necessary.
The first person will get Mind Controlled outside and just stand there, Doctor Weavil will run back to his bed. Then the DPS'er has a couple minutes to down him before the MC wears off.
This method worked the first try without much trouble. Good luck.

If you're a non-pet class, the easiest way to "solo" Weavil is by bringing a lowbie alt with you. Have the alt attack Weavil and get him to burn his Mental Domination on the alt. After the MC is over, you basically have 2 minutes to burn him down. The alt will die if you have any kind of AoE damage, so just concentrate on burning Weavil. I was able to kill Weavil with an 80 Arms Warrior and a 60 Warrior alt. As long as the alt can survive long enough for Weavil to burn his MC on him, you're good to go.
Keep in mind Weavil still packs a punch on 80's (especially because he stuns you a lot), so you'll need some healing. I used my Gift of the Naaru, Enraged Regeneration and a Runic pot and still only had about 20% health when he died. Took 4 tries to kill him.

As patch 3.2.2 i one-shotted him simply by using the bubble when he mc's me the first time and then doing a burst dps before he was able to mc me again, i soloed this with no real problem and wowhead make me worry for nothing xD

Alternate lvl 80 strategy, you will need:
1. Tank (any flavor)
2. Shaman (or other high dps class that can also heal)
3. Bait
Bait should be wearing minimal gear to survive Weavil's damage for a about 20 sec. Bait attacks and gains aggro while surviving long enough to be MC'ed. Tank also takes one swing to enter combat before MC occurs, but then backs out. Once MC occurs, kill Bait pronto. You then have (slightly under) two minutes to burn down Weavil. If you don't get him down fast enough, your tank will be MC'ed and that's not pretty. 326K health doesn't seem like a lot to burn through, but the AoE stun makes it somewhat challenging.

Well i found this guy in Dustwallow Marsh actually. He is at Alcaz Island inside a house with 3 floors, he's in the last one sleeping but he should aggro you when you get up. He is 63 Elite and has 365k health as people said before he MC you for 2 min. and if you're going alone it is a pain in the ass to wait for it to go off. Well i recomend to not go to the 3rd floor of his house at 77.17 coords.

Rogue Cloak of Shadows does NOT protect against this. This is NOT soloable as a level 80 rogue.

Found a way for rogues to do this, but it takes a few people.
If you tricks someone at the start and have them run outside (start in the bottom room), they'll evade bug after getting MCed and Weavil will insta-reset to his bed. As long as someone is MCed outside he won't cast it again, and so whatever you have left in the room can finish him. However, I couldn't solo him even without the MC - took a second person. One we had 3 people total though it was easy.

It actually
is
soloable by a rogue, with a bit of cheating.
The trick I used was simple. I went there on my main and logged next to him. Then went there on my level 80 alt and fought him until I got MC'd. Then I alt-f4'd, logged back onto my rogue, and pulled weavil.
My alt was still there and still logged in, and was attackable even, but did not pull when I shot Weavil with my bow. From there, it was a simple matter of killing him.
Of course, when I say simple, I mean relatively. He can still hit pretty hard, and with that 3 second stun, he
will
hit you. Not to mention there's that 325k hp to burn through. I had a good couple of 264 pieces, with the rest being 245, and I still had to use an endless rage flask and hp pot to down him. The flask was probably overkill, since I had him to 15k without an hp pot the first time, but I wanted to be safe.

Me and some guildies downed him today, and this is how we did it;
We had two tanks (a warrior and a Paladin), a rogue (me) and a Healadin.
We had a tank tank him till he MCed him, than an off tank grabbed the the MCed tank while I tanked/dpsed the boss down.
Worked great.

Did this today on my hunter, was very easy just steady shot and healed pet so as not to loose aggro, he didn't mind control I'm assuming its like a priests MC and wont work on beasts. Hardly had to heal the pet as i had grabbed my 2 piece tier 5 set for something else i was soloing so that was handy. As a side note, I would tank him in the corner furthermost from the stairs as the other mobs are on a fast re-spawn and patrol to the top of the stairs.

I have to agree with the "can be 2-manned" above. Just dual boxed it with my Mage and my Bear Druid. After trying a couple different things it finally worked this way:
Pulled him with the bear, got him MCed outside, he stayed outside and then just went all out on him with the mage, frost-specced, ICC10/25 gear. The stuns hurt but that's what's Ice Barrier etc. is for.
This and the Duskshore mob have been the hardest mobs so far in the questline.

Wery easy fight. Just stay and dps. Sometimes he used
Mind Shatter
(3 sec. stun). Also he didn't use
Mental Domination
on my pet (or maybe it was resisted, i didn't see). Fight took 2-3 minutes.

Just soloed him as a ret pally. Couldn't do it as a tank.
I simply used my bubble to dispel the mind control just after he cast it, leaving me 119 seconds to kill him before he could cast it again.
He only has 326k hp so with at least 2750 dps you should be able to do it just in time.
Note that a bit more dps could actually be needed because you spend a few seconds stunned under his mind shatter effect.
Edit : Spelling.

If you engage him as a shaman solo... you'll fail. To save yourself, quickly drop your Earth Ele totem after you drop out of MC and run like hell. You'll likely get MCed once more, but you should be out of his aggro range by then. I got MCed in the middle of the camp, but I was able to leave easily.
BRING A FRIEND. Preferably a Mage - they can sheep you, you can hex them, high DPS and they can port you close by (Org, TB or Theramore)

For Death Knights stuck in a MC loop, popping out a ghoul to distract him, running like hell for a few moments, and then popping Lichborn for another ten seconds of safety seemed to work.
As a post-Vanilla player who didn't know who this fellow was, I stumbled across him inadvertently while waiting for a friend and had no idea what I was getting in to. It was pretty comical. May have to try him again later, but I didn't have a lot of time.

I have just noticed nice bug when fighting him. Have you trouble escaping from him? That is not hard - when he uses mind control on you, wait till you stand near him without action, then make a relog, so you will still be one of his servants, but you can move using your arrows.

Mind Control with MASSIVE buff to self...second problem
Constant deep stun...third problem
Seriously, a Warlock friend and I (Mage) tried this guy and it was retarded. Both of us are 80 with 5k+GS. Cant beat the MC with a sheep or fear cause you're stunned, if you do, then you can suffer the 2k melee beatdown he lays on you...while of course...you're stunned. Successful MC and its a single cast = dead partner.
Pound for pound the toughest NPC in the game as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention the MC loop you can get trapped in...;)

Did this just now with a Druid and a Hunter, and me (Fury Warrior) on my run for the quest items; we used the Hunter pet to attack while the Druid kept the pet alive, and myself and the Hunter just went in and did auto-attacks to keep threat down. Pretty easy. And alot faster than the method we used below when she looted for her quest.
First time around the Druid and I managed to 2-man it by me aggroing and running downstairs while he followed me, got him outside and he MC'ed me, and he reset but I stayed outside and never went back in, the Druid was able to kill him with about 20 seconds left on my MC. Then the Hunter showed up to help.

To find Dr. Weavil on Alcaz Island (Dustwallow Marsh), get yourself to the dock on the western edge of the island. I used an Elixir of Water Walking to cross the ocean faster. From the dock, go due east, following the road, until you get to a naga compound of 3 buildings. Dr. Weavil can be found in the middle building, on the top floor, lazing about in bed.
As a L80 demo warlock, I was able to solo him by having my Felguard tank. My demon pet never got mind controlled. Using the lock strat above (CoWeakness and dots), I just healed my pet as needed and reapplied dots. To be on the safe side, I ran out of los down the stairs a little in between. I occasionally got stunned by Dr. Weavil, but never got mind controlled.

Just tried this NPC on my Enhancement Shaman....oh dear...MC'd, no way to break it. He reset and I had to stand there for 2 minutes whilst the MC wore off. At which point he re-aggro'd and I ran away like a little girl, only to be re-MC'd outside, where again I had to stand and wait for the MC to wear off.
Only this time I dropped my totems, which were now aggressive towards me and my magma totem pulsed, doing 3.3k damage to me every time. Needless to say I did not live.
Going to have another go sometime with a PvP trinket.

I failed miserably with my 80 hunter on my first attempts; I sent my pet in and tried to blow the crap out of Dr. Weavil. As soon as I got MC'd I killed my pet then got squashed. I soloed him today easily, though. I had the Extreme Solo BM spec and a turtle, and I let my pet do most of the damage. I basically just stayed out of LOS (ran down the stairs a bit) and ran back up occasionally to hit Mend Pet, Cower, Shell Shield, and Bestial Wrath. I also hit Serpent Sting occasionally. It took a while but my pet stayed at about 90% health the whole time. I imagine it would be easy for any class with a pet or demon, as long as you can keep its health up and not ever get aggro.

Soloed as an elemental shaman. Took me like 15mins to figure out how to kill him :)
simple as ele.. impossible as enh ;p
prepare your totems setup where will be Fire Elemental Totem.
When u put him. you got less than 2mins to kill him. Give 5-7seconds to build elemental some agro while u cast both and at the same time Flame shock and Wind Shear.
Set fire elemental on Focus to keep him alive.
remember to watch your threat.
Flame shock , lava burst , windshear , run from upperstairs to middle stairs small platfrom to go out of sight of doctor. wait one second or two for lvb and start the rotation again. Better gear you have easier for you. Im 75% 277 ( means heroic icc25) gaered.
It took me 1min40sec to kill him so its really tight. Gl.. you will need it.
I have to admit.. only way to solo him is to either have pet ( of any kind ) or .. to be loladin.

Soloed by a pvp-specced Arcane mage, 6.3k GS (Glyph of Evocation, Arcane Shielding, Incanter's Absorption VERY useful)
0. Buff with Molten Armor, Arcane Intellect, Flask of the Frost Wyrm, Firecracker Salmon.
1. Pull Weavil to the corner of the room with Arcane Barrage.
2. Keep Mana Shield up and let him hit you until he MCs you. (Don't melee, you'll waste procs!)
3. Ice Block immediately, cancel Ice Block and let him reset. You now have 2 minutes to kill him.
4. Eat/drink to 100%, cast 1 Arcane Blast then pop Mirror Images + Potion of Speed, Icy Veins, Arcane Power, Berserking (troll), anything you've got.
5. DPS like your life depends on it (it does) while Weavil kills your Images. Aim to have him under 100k when he kills the last one--if he isn't, you're likely not geared enough. After that pop Mana Shield, Evocate, then Mana Shield every few seconds to avoid damage and boost spellpower with Incanter's Absorption.
6. If you're lucky, he'll be dead now! If not, try harder or find a friend.
Good luck!

He is solo'able but its not easy. You must pull very high dps to beat the MC. I was able to do it after a few tries. Take a couple people with you and pop all cooldowns. The MC triples the persons dmg and if not CC'd immediately that MC will destroy everyone.

Just 2-manned him in one shot, L80 shadow priest and L80 warlock. We had the felguard beat him all the way down to 10% by itself, with priest throwing out a renew, flash heal, fade combo every time pet got down to 50% health. (Had warlock standing watch only.) Once at 10%, we both "wand-ed" him down, then killed with a Shadow Word: Death just before he casted MC on us.
My suggestion is to go with a class that has a tanking/aggro-spamming pet and let the L80 pet beat the snot out of that gnome. :)
(Just don't forget to hit the gnome at least once yourself, otherwise you can't loot him afterwards...)

I tried to solo him as a level 80 Ret Pally. I tried to run away after second MC but could only get down the stairs before he did it again. I tried about seven times (I'm really VERY patient) but couldn't get away. Finally, while MC'd I put in a ticket and the GM kicked me off the server and was supposed to send me to Goldshire. I waited 2 minutes as suggested and when I signed back on I was still on Alcaz Island, but was no longer engaged with the good Doctor, so I ran out, not stopping to fight his minions. Once outside the building I was able to Hearth back to Dalaran.
If you put in a ticket for a GM to get you out, be sure you finish it while still MC'd or you will lose the window and be attacked by the Doctor again. When the GM contacts you, you CAN talk to him while in battle and while MC'd. I hope I can get enough people together to do this guy in or I'll never get that last page of the book.

Solo'd as an 80 combat rogue in full 264 with a couple 277s. Open with Ambush > SnD > Adrenaline Rush and go all out on him (speed pot/engineer gloves if you have em). After about 25 seconds or 5 seconds after he stuns you (whichever comes first), use Cloak. Right after that, use Killing Spree. If you time it right his first MC should happen in that 7.5 second window where you're immune to it, and I finished him off before he got a 2nd one.
Took me a couple tries to get it but once you get a feel for his MC you'll know when to Cloak and KS.

I just solo'd him as a non-pet class -- feral druid. At first I tried using a PvP trinket just to see if it worked. Nope.
What I ended up doing is I killed the pats, then parked 2 of my 80's -- my druid who needs the quest item, and my mage because it was easy to get to Theramore on her -- just outside Weavil's aggro range. I engaged Weavil on my mage, making sure to move a bit away from his bed. When he MC'd me, I immediately iceblocked out of it, then logged out. I then logged onto my druid and burned Weavil down before his MC timer reset -- it took me 33s (about 10k DPS) and didn't have any problems with MC.

EASY SOLO STRATEGY FOR ALL CLASSES
It's really quite simple. I found this buried in one of the earlier posts and it worked like a charm.
Step 1: Get your dps specced/geared character to Dr. Weavil's house
Step 2: Log onto a different character that you don't need the kill on. Pull Dr. Weavil with said character, wait to be MCed, and immediately Alt-F4.
Step 3: Log on main character and kill Dr. Weavil.
The MC has a ~2 minute timer, period. So you won't get MCed unless your dps is terrible.
BONUS: You get to kill your other character since they remain a minion of Dr. Weavil :P
Hope this helps those wishing to solo this!

You can burn him down, but it took me 17k dps on a 264 geared fury warrior though... (Charge+Heroic throw -> Retaliation -> zerg stance -> DW -> Haste pot -> Engi gloves -> All nukes -> Recklesness when up -> continue nukes and pray you get to spam execute)
Anything below got me mc'ed everytime in his last 20% hp. Only once i got him to 0% but got MC'ed right when he got the finishing blow... He just reset and i got no credit.
In the end it took about ~15 tentatives.
Definately the hardest part of the questline besides bwl/onyxia/mc to me.
Edit: just read sandbox02's comment. Damn the timing!

Either they've nerfed this, or I killed him to fast for him to start MC'ing. I just killed him (twice, waited about 5 mins for respawn) and both times it was about 20-30 secs. He did get one cast (and then twice, the second time I killed him) of Mental Shatter (or something like that) that was a stun, but no MC. At 326K hp he dies pretty quick, and he didn't even seem to damage my pet too much.
REVISED: OK, so I came back with my feral druid to do this, thinking it had to have been nerfed. I guess the 22 points in ilvl difference between my hunter (392) and my druid (370) have just shown up - for SURE he still does "Mental Domination" and when you're alone, it's really funny. He transforms me to a minion of weavil, gear and everything, and makes me stand in a drawer next to his bed. Then, he goes back to sleep, and heals up completely. Once the MC effect wears off, he engages you again, and if you can't kill him before he casts it again, you'll get MC'ed again. After the second MC wore off, I just Dashed away and disengaged, it was pointless. Bring your A-game dps, and he's no problem. Bring your B-game and he'll Mental Domination. I tried, btw, to be ready to stop his cast with either Maim or Skull Bash, but nothing doing, I never saw a cast bar indicating it.

I was exploring on my 85 Blood DK and decided to check out Alcaz Island, which I never had. I saw Weavil's flying machine and mentioned it to my husband, who warned me that if Doctor Weavil is still ingame, I should not mess with him. This naturally drove me to track him down and immediately engage him.
I'd get him down to about 20% health and then get MC'd. As others have noted, the MC is brutal. I tried using my army but I couldn't beat the MC.
I ended up making a mad dash out of his house when I finally realized I couldn't even use the unstuck feature. He stopped chasing, thankfully.
If I had a dps spec and decent dps gear, I may have been able to kill him fast enough, but if you're a tank I'd advise avoiding this fellow. Even at 85, this guy is no joke!

There has been weird stories about this guy so i figured i would go check it out, and mage port to theramore is the fastest way there. So I assume the big house is his. I go in, kill like 4-5 minions and there he is on the bed. I pulled him and he occasionally stunned me for 2 seconds. Once he was about 4/5 down he did the infamous mind control and together we started killing my water elemental. I frantically searched my bars looking for maybe Every Man for Himself or a similar spell. The only available spell was ice block so i used it and it worked. I proceded to kill him which took about 2 seconds. Sadly there was no loot but i did screenshot his dead body.

Most of these comments are outdated and can leave you to confusion on whether you should try 5 maning this little guy to be on the safe side, when he is only level 62. Keep in mind that his Mind Control is real and it can be very annoying that can lead up to a never ending loop of Mind Control. You shouldn't be worried about this unless you let him attack you first and you don't attack back. Otherwise, it's just a quick one shot kill.
Keep in mind that I killed him at least 5 times and he dropped nothing.
Not even money.
So in the end, he is useless up to this point...

As of right now, here's what I know.
Drop rate feels low. I'm on my 12th kill and have only seen Drudge Fluid, Machine Fluid and Handful of Gizmos consistently.
Re-spawn rate feels consistently at 5 minutes
Tag to kill, not faction locked
To get to Doctor Weavil. Pass all the turrets however you can (I died and ran back to my body a couple times), when the road splits, go right...on the left hand side will be a compound with 3 buildings. The doctor is located in the middle building with a second floor, he is located on the top most floor.
NOTE: there are technically 3 levels with each leveling seeming like half a floor up. There is a mechanical guard on the middle floor that hits particularly hard, so when you camp him, make sure not to stand by the stairs as he aggros easily and will likely move up to chew your face off. The graveyard is at the dock where you entered the island, so the run back is a bit of a pain. just hang in the corner of the room towards the machinery to compensate.
*EDIT* 20 odd kills and no toy...if anyone has any information about any pre-requisite for the toy or if it's just a low drop I would love to hear a response regarding this. good luck getting the toy, I'll stealth in on my rogue and farm this later tonight
EDIT: got the toy after approximately 40 kills. not pleasant, but not the worst grind for sure

Doctor Weavil (in 7.1) has the following two abilities:
Drudge Bolt Volley - Hits you with nature damage and a debuff that makes you take more nature damage. Stacks up to 10 - when it hits 10 stacks, you die. There is a pretty long re-cast timer on it, though, so if you can dodge two of them in a row (interrupts / immunity bubbles) then it will drop off pretty easily.
Mind Shatter - A short, 3-4 second stun that hurts REAL bad.
He alternates between these and that is it. While it seems like the Drudge Bolt Volley is the most important thing to interrupt (given that it, y'know, kills you), the Mind Shatter in my opinion was more dangerous. If you can self-heal (tank) then it probably changes.
It's a long fight - he has a lot of health - but perfectly soloable if you have more than one method of interrupting or avoiding the debuff.
I was able to solo him reliably as a Beast Mastery hunter using a combination of Counter Shot and Aspect of the Turtle, and - surprisingly - wyvern sting works. So if you have an in-combat-usable CC then you should be able to get any amount of time you need for major cooldowns to reset.
One final note is that the trash below in the building DOES aggro easily -- many abilities do just enough vertical-axis damage that it pulls the drudge supervisors and even his guardbot, which will most likely end in a wipe for you. (this may be because of all of the stomping my abilities did) Bring a friend to be safe (and to speed up the fight) but it's far from the hardest thing to solo. I had more frustration getting TO his building!
Happy hunting and good luck getting the key for your spiderbots. Four kills and no luck, so it's got a low droprate.

As a 110 ret pally with 859 gear, he can consistently be soloed. It takes a couple minutes because he's got 35M+ health. Here are some tips I've learned over the past 30+ kills:
1. Stay off the stairs! You will aggro
GU-4RD-3R型
below you and die a horrible death.
2. Kill the
前实习生
s surrounding Doctor Weavil prior to pulling to build up holy power. He has a very small aggro radius so you can comfortably kill them in the central balcony area without him aggroing.
3. Prioritize interrupting
心灵碎裂
. I use Rebuke, and it's always up before he casts it again.
4. Be aware that
陈腐箭雨
does a fair amount of damage AND kills you instantly at 10 stacks. He's usually dead by 8 stacks, so I don't bother interrupting it. Just heal through it unless you have extra stuns up.
5. Because he's undead, you've got an additional interrupt+stun with your artifact's ability
灰烬觉醒
.
6. He hits for 50K-150K per melee, so you should be using
审判官复仇
and
复仇之盾
whenever they're up.
7. Your Judgements will pull additional
前实习生
s from downstairs during the fight. Just ignore them. They'll die during the normal course of your rotation focusing on Doctor Weavil.
8. Seriously, stay off the stairs.
Enjoy farming

as ilvl 825 aff lock i wasn't quite able to beat him down before sludge got to 10 stacks (insta-kill), so at about 7 stacks i spammed fear on him until the sludge debuff dropped off, making sure to break the fear asap; don't use mortal coil as the effect will not break from damage and he will run down the stairs and aggro the dog.

Farming him solo pretty easily on a fresh 110 BM Hunter with 840 ilvl (mostly from Dauntless tokens) 36 points in my un-upgraded artifact, pet in Tenacity spec. Getting to him was much more tedious than killing him.
I stood in the corner of the room at the top of the stairs. Opened with
杀戮命令
(using
,) nearby slimes aggro, popped
误导
on my pet and then use AoE rotation until they die, then go back to single target on Weavil. I interrupted
陈腐箭雨
whenever I could, which kept it from ever going over 2 stacks, and ignored
心灵碎裂
. Other than that I just made sure to use
治疗宠物
on cooldown and it was an easy, if slightly lengthy kill.
GU-4RD-3R型
didn't usually aggro during the fight for me, but in the rare case that it did, it meant a wipe.
Got my first key after 6 drops. Up to 9 kills now and still trying for the toy.
Edit: Another player showed up and helped me with a kill. Having two people present seemed to increase the damage of
心灵碎裂
significantly, so if you have two or more people, you probably want someone interrupting that.

For Hunters:
You can't fly, but you can use your Goblin Glider to reach the island. Once you are shot, you'll drop like a stone, but you can simply disengage to get back to normal gilder speed, and so you can finally reach the island, without corpse running.

As of now May 27, 2017, Dr. Weavil is a 112 Elite Undead! I tried soloing him with 872 ilevel as MM and almost killed him, but he killed me instead lol. I'm going to try BM now :) Ok, I was able to kill him in BM and it was much easier having 2 pets, hehe. I got the key on my 1st try :) There is also a Green Mechowolf on the floor below him. I also tamed him. I got him down to a little past 30%, popped Aspect of the Turtle and tamed him. Now, onto my Silver Arachnodrone...

Pretty easy now as a 900 mage.. take the bots out one at a time, slow and steady, don't try running through! Take the right fork and the Doc is in the center building in the clearing (dont go up the hill) clear the room, then as soon as you aggro his guard dog on the 2nd floor he will come and join the fight! hardest part is getting the toy to drop...

Killed Dr. Weavil about 50 times (I lost count); I received the following loot:
1
巨怒射线枪
24
带电钥匙
41
陈腐液体
43
机油
around 600
一把小齿轮
(count is a rough estimate due to killing other things in the area)
带电钥匙
is not soulbound, so they can be traded or sold on the AH, no real market for the AH on my server group, though.
Dr. Weavil is easy to solo, even with no interrupts, he was down before I got two stacks of his
陈腐箭雨
. Save your interrupt for his
心灵碎裂
, it's kind of annoying, but not critical (unless you're squishy)

My experiences for doing this with ToS geared druid (918 ilevel in feral).
- Location, Alcaz Island a little north from Theramore Isle. Once you get to the island, aim for the middle building at the center of island and second floor in it.
- Getting to Doctor Weavil was not trivial. If you want to kill the sentries, you should do it from distance. I tried feral, guardian and resto, and by far easiest to kill them was in resto spec and guardian hardest. If you go hit them in catform you can just die in 1 or 2 hits from mines they send. Ended up corpserunning and pushing body further and further past them. Cost 20% durability. You cannot stealth past the turrets, but other enemies yes.
- Doctor respawns roughly every 7 minutes, while fights in feral spec took ~50 sec and 1:35 in resto i tried once. In resto fight i couldn't interrupt the volley so ended up having 5 stacks of the debuff, and it would have instantly killed at 10. No adds or anything to worry about really, it's a trivial fight for solo.
- Got toy after 19 kills.
- Horde and alliance can loot the same kill.

very easy to solo as a 910 ilvl BM hunter (I use aspect of the beast w/tenacity spec for the pet dmg reduction), I kill him before he gets to channeling his 2nd Mind Shatter. Tracked the respawn timer and it ranges 5 - 7 minutes. Picked up first raygun today on 3rd kill of the day. WoW Token here I come! (Im on Mal'ganis if that matters any since it is a cross realm zone). Got a key every kill. The RNG gods were shining on me today. I only did 6 kills since I got the gun, out of 6 = 1 raygun, 6 keys, lots of the other stuff.
Course on another toon on Suramar it took an hour before the toy dropped
useless trivia: for some reason the keys only stack in 3's.
Tip: stand on the broken table in the corner and your stomp wont agro the mechanical wolf downstairs. Least it didnt for me for all my kills
You can also stun the turrets with Intimidate

Easy to solo as a Warlock.
Hardest part is to get there. I just fly really high up (before I get dismounted) and use a goblin glider to land on top of the roof. Great way to avoid those turrets that can 2-shot you.
If you have to pass the turrets, one tip, make YOUR pet attack the turrets first. Somehow, they can't 2-shot your pets/minions and it works great with that mechanical dog thing inside the building where weavil is in.
The other mobs are pretty weak.
Weavil spawns pretty quickly. Less than 10 mins.
Also watch out if you're on a pvp server. I didn't know there was a rogue farming/camping the building when I was farming it and he killed me.
TLDR: HAVE YOU DONE THERAMORE QUESTLINE?
IF YES, TALK TO ZIDORMI. If not, carry on. warlock be 900+, get a tanking pet out, take demon skin talent. (Soulstone just in case) Fly to the island and use goblin gliders to avoid turrets and land on roof. If not, let your pet attack the turrets first and the robot elite inside the building and even weavil. No toy? Wait a few minutes (leas than 10) and kill him again til he drops it.
Additional info:
Dropped for me after my 4th kill.
Location: 77.82, 17.40
(He's on the SECOND FLOOR of this building. You will see a giant cog lab thing just wait if he's not there. You so not need to go underground (like i did the first time))

As a 925 Rogue he is easily soloable. The turrets can see through stealth, but if you use Grappling Hook up the hills to the right, you can get to him without aggroing any of them.

Farming him is now trivial for anyone, respawn time varies from 6-8 minutes. Traversing the island, the turrets can be a little dangerous if you have 2 on you at once, and the proximity mines are invisible and explode for 5 million. Getting to weavil is much more dangerous than fighting him

Just for the sake of clarity, because it's not explicitly mentioned in the other comments, even though you can infer it from them:
You can loot Doctor Weavil as many times as you want on one character. You don't get saved, neither daily, nor weekly. You can just sit at the spawn point, go afk, and kill him every 5-7 minutes.
These days most rares are on daily reset, and to kill them multiple times you need to bring your alts. That's why I thought it would be useful to explicitly state this.

The land mines are a joke at level 50 (the max level in the game for shadowlands prepatch).
I think they do damage based on your health? level maybe? i dont know. but my advice is to fly high
and before dismount slowfall, glide (DH or kits) etc into the center of the island... save yourself a headache.
edit: largest building, second floor, center of island; Respawn time is avg 5m he was level 47

I've been sat here at my PC, killing this Doctor and his big robotic canine every time they spawn,

they spawn, for several hours today alone (last night I was doing the same, for at least 2-3 hours)...
I think today it's been at least 6 hours

On top of a handful of gold each kill and several greys, I've looted:

I'm hoping, based on the loot numbers a few people have posted on the relevant pages, that this means I'll get this damn toy soon... I've been at this for so long in one go that I just want to get it over with ._.
But these last 5-ish kills, I've been receiving noticeably less loot each kill, which worries me...
Edit:
I'm starting to worry there's something wrong... I'm at well over over 100 kills and nothing, no toy. I've been sitting here killing this mob (and his robot dog) for over 8 hours today, and 2 hours last night. I must be over 125 kills by now, of Doctor Weavil alone. :/
Edit:
A freaking Alliance elf waltzes in here, and 2 minutes later the first time they kill Doctor Weavil, they cheer at him, and they learn what I presume must have been the toy. What the f---

Found him in Classic TBC whilst mooching through. He was a level 63 elite with 492,480 mana. I began to DPS him and when i reached half health he was 96% done. I had done 19400 damage at 776 DPS and he had done 7300 damage at 291 DPS. I think that puts him at roughly the same as the mana or 485,000. So he's probably 492K health. Needless to say, I vanished and he can stay on his own in this house as the enigmatic crime lord he is in TBC.
