Sweet I killed the Omen. Here's some advice: it will take 15 or 20 level 70's to kill.

The point of killing omen is to finish the quest for Elune's Blessing.

Just killed him with 10 folks, most level 70. Pretty simple fight if you have a good tank and enough healers. Just takes forever to knock down his 900,000 or so HP.

Like i said get a lot of 70's and you will have no problem taking him out

Summoned him with 30 cluster rockets... but he's immune to entangling roots. So much for soloing him.

We just downed him as a 4 man group:
70 Warrior
70 Rogue
68 Druid (feral, healing)
70 Mage
And also a horde 70 moonkin druid.
We discovered a "bug" if that's what it is. If you run away from him he will reset to his starting point, but not regain HP.
He has about 1 million HP and it took us 6-7 pulls but we were able to reset to get mana and health and go back at him.
Tip: He cleaves for about 800, and his Starfire AOE ticks for about the same. Keep him moving and you should be just fine.

Well this guy is soloble by a hunter. I dont know if its a bug but the guy dosent restore health after he wipes you or you run away. So I just nuke him and FD nuke FD nuke FD. Thats the way you can solo him. But I got bored rly fast so I got 7 other ppl to help me. I kited him around a tree while others doted him. And I managed to discover a potential bug on him beside the health not restoring after battle and that is his AoE does not daze a hunter while hes cheetah or pack on.

Took me almost 10 minutes to get him to 95 %. I'm not really into sacrificing 3 hours to kill him...

if you fail to get quest credit, you can debuff the blessing of elune and walkinto his body again to recieve the blessing once again and gain quest credit.

Amazingly, I was able to get credit for the Omen kill with the help of a 70 hunter. The hunter kited him around in circles in Nighthaven. The Wardens and elites would agro on him and help as he followed the hunter around in circles. The hunter was able to survive the entire encounter barely ever being hit, and only occasionally needing a heal or an innervate. From time to time the starfall (AOE) attack killed some of us lower levels.
The encounter took more than 30 minutes, with us not actually having a proper raid, but the longer we circled Nighthaven, the more people we had to join us. My 49 druid managed to get in several shreds and 5 combo-point bites, but I can't say I played much of a role in the overall DPS.
Unfortunately, by the time we had attracted a lot of alliance players to help us in our raid, the horde were also showing up in numbers, and they noticed that the neutral guards were otherwise occupied and began picking off those of us who were flagged.
Eventually Omen went down (I think he slowed when he reached low health), and we all got the buff and the quest. Moral of the story: get a hunter to kite him forever and eventually help will show up. If it doesn't? Well you may take 4 hours to down him but it will happen ;)

Took exactly 30 cluster rockets to summon him from 63,64. Had to kill lvl 60 ghost dogs that spawned randomly after using the cluster launcher a few times.
Killed him today. A kara geared warrior took about 1-2k per hit, the odd cleave spike but not by that much. I was healing and found rank 1 GH was sufficient with a renew to keep him up. Was able to heal other dps as well as myself when caught in starshards which ticked for about 1.8k dmg per second. Lots of skeles on the floor afterwards due to lowbies being around, and i burned 4-5 mana pots since we had pretty low dps (70 mage and 70 hunter with about 5-6 other lowbies + whatever alliance had to throw).

Me (frost mage) and a hunter just killed Omen. The trick was to use aspect of the pack, and take turns kiting him around Nighthaven village. When one of us ran low on mana, we would invisibility/fein death and gain mana while the other took over kiting. We found a great route leading over the three bridges in the middle of the village. We ran that circle 300 times or so before we got him. I've played since WoW release, but this stands out as one of the most fun things I've done ever in my warcraft career!

You don't have to be in the group killing him, or even the same faction. Just step into the light.
I don't know if the cleave has changed from previous comments, but it hit me standing right at his tail every time.

It's intended that his hp doesn't reset, as that would easily destroy people's chances of completing it.
Instead he despawns after about 45 minutes so it's really a race for lowbies to kill him on time.
I say lowbies, because they can use the Elune's Candle (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21713
) to dps him down without tanking or anything like that since they don't generate any threat whatsoever. Just have to keep out of his agro range.

Today, 06/02/2008, Remulos does not aggro Omen, or vice-versa. The wardens *do*, but die pretty fast. About 15 of us took a good long while to take him down, me (feral druid) tanking in DPS gear, still died twice as we were a PuG with below-average healing.
Stay out of Starfall -.-

Just downed him 5 minutes ago with 17 others, mostly in the 65-70 range and a few 60 or less.
He's gotten much tougher since last year, Starshards doing 1.6k-1.8k per second, his cleave doing roughly 3k on mail, and a massive HP around 1.2 Mil as said. If you get caught in his Starshards, better move out ASAP. If you are level 40-60, you won't last long enough to get out of his starshards...So be extremely careful against him now, you only get 12g for the quest at 70 but most of us had repair bills over 20g.

Just took him down in a small pug. The 1.2 million health number above seems to be about right, so expect a long fight. I was tanking as a paladin and he was hitting me for 800-900. Worth pointing out that since he's classified as a boss you can be hit with a crushing blow. OTOH, his hits are so weak that you're going to be out of mana (as a paladin) or rage starved the whole fight. I'd recommend just staying in his starshards for the rage or mana.

We killed him with a group of 5 ppl. Weired group (70rogue, 70lock, 70warrior, 70pala, 63pala).
All with pvp gear and specs (except for the 63lvl pala). Well, the warrior was tanking Omen and was moving all time to avoid starshards and me (70rogue) was trying to be always at Omen's back to avoid Cleave as much as i could. The fight last for 25-30 mins and we all died once during the fight and run from the graveyard back to the fight.

Take the easy route, if your horde or at least on my server, alliance are more PvE they had a bunch more fully geared 70s killing him took them less than 5 minutes. Just stand in the circle when they are done =) Really easy quest. Since he one hits me as a 62 resto druid, was happy to take the easy way out.

We killed him with a group of about 15 people. In the beginning, everybody kept dying because the tank didn't get any heals and died (and he had to wait to rez). At around 70% I caught aggro for the 3rd time (sl/sl warlock) and I started kiting him around a tree. A long while of running around a tree (many trees actually, I got bored and started switching trees), I lost aggro at around 15%. Then I DIED from the starshards when DPSing him!
Basically, if you get aggro, run around a tree to not get hit at all.

The Starfall is a Warcraft 3 Priestess of the Moon ability.
On Omen, it appears to do varying amounts of damage for different characters. Perhaps it hits for a percentage of the target's maximum health.

Group of about 8 Alliance w/ some stray Horde helping took him down by kiting him up, around, and through the moonwell/fountain behind where he spawns. We got him to about 8% slowly but surely with quite a few deaths but overall a good group effort. A feral druid showed up at this point and tanked him on top of the fountain's middle platform while we healed and nuked him down.
Run speed meta gem or enchant helps a ton. If you manage to stay out of melee range the worst that can happen is you taking damage from the Starfall clipping you.
Aggro Omen, DoT him, run up the ramp of the fountain to the top platform. Wait for him to get right up to you then jump down to the next ring with the water. He will turn around and walk down the ramp to come after you in the water. You can either run back up to the top platform or jump off the fountain to the ground. Both options force him to change direction and path in a new way to get to you. Warlock w/ speed increase can easily control this fight with DoTs and Drain Life.
Good luck, enjoy your Lantern. :)

Easily done with 4 people, if you feel like kiting him for 20 minutes. Our hunter kept aspect of the pack up as Omen's attacks don't daze you when they hit for some reason, and we had him run in a circle through the buildings in nighthaven, with myself(destro warlock) and a friends Ele shaman standing on a small island in the middle dpsing. Our only healer was a level 67 shadow priest. No one died, no one went under 50% health. Easy way to kill him if for some reason it's 4AM and you decide to try it and can't find a group.

There is a handy BUG with
Elune's Candle
that could help speed up a kill, especially if you're doing this boss with very few people.
Although the item hits for an average of 200 dmg per pop, you can SPAM it without cooldown and without consuming charges if you are out of LoS of the boss. Exploiting this, you can generate some massive dps (easily 1000+) that makes this boss manageable as long as you have a tank and healer to keep Omen within range.
The bridges along the road between Omen's spawn and the festival ground provide a convenient LoS obstacle. If you have Omen tanked in front of a bridge, someone can spam the candle from underneath. You can still be hit by Omen's Starshards, though, so make sure a healer is in LoS (swimming in water makes it harder to move - heal through it if you have the means).
Remember, the boss' HP doesn't reset if the group wipes, so you can take out healthy percentages of boss HP if your group has resigned to wiping repeatedly to get a kill.
Be sure to bind the candle to a hotkey to maximize spammage, and so you can alternate hands as they get tired. ;)

For anyone unsure as to how to summon Omen, you have to spam cluster rockets at the 2 launchers by the side of the lake at 62,63 (Stormrage Barrow Dens).
The AoE is easily healable by any scrub healer, and he doesn't hit that hard on a half-geared tank... easy fight, and considering your opposing faction will probably HELP you with this, it's not too tough.

Side note: Just killed him on my feral druid while dual boxing my friends resto shaman. Had some lowbie help with dps but as far as a boss is concerned he is pretty pathetic. Left my druid on auto-attack and threw up ES and healing stream totem and watched tv. He died in about 30 mins.

Don't forget to destroy the old Elune's Lantern you have from festivals past. I completed the quest but couldn't hand it in thanks to "duplicate item found."
Destroying your old lantern before venturing out saves you the trouble of porting back to a city to rummage through your bank.

Done with 4 Level 80s in 10m Naxx gear. Make-up was:
Protection Pally
Holy Priest
Fury Warrior
and Unholy Death Knight (Myself)
What we did was, have the Priest place a
Lightwell
down a bit behind Omen and focus mainly on healing the Prot Pally while he tanked. If the Warrior got low on health from Starfall, he would run back and tap the
Lightwell
. If my health got low I would start using
Death Strike
and my
Death Pact
whenever it was on cooldown. Also, reapplying
Bone Shield
whenever it faded was helpful against the Starfall since it doesn't remove the charges, but the damage is still reduced.
The fight lasted about 15m. The trick was basically to take it slow and steady, using
Shadowfiend
and
Guardian Spirit
when nessecary and keeping the
Lightwell
down as much as possible.

So a lvl 80 in raid with a level 1 (or more lvl 1s to lower the raid's average level even more) would be able to solo the boss? I'm trying to do that right now but the boss is already spawned (and has 5578K HP -.-) and repeating the summoning process doesn't de-spawn him.

As a note, kiting still does work, you just can't take the normal path around the lake. I was able to kite him as a Ret Pally (with Judgement and Consecrate for aggro) around the area he spawns in using a tree on the north side, some ruins on the south side, and the Moonwell to gain distance if he ever got too close.

The
Elune's Candle
is
incredibly
useful in this fight - everyone should have one! While it has it's own cooldown,
it is not on the GCD.
This means that you can use an ability, then use the candle while your global cooldown is running. This is an extra 1000-1600 damage in between every attack, without reducing your DPS/heals/threat.
Make sure everyone has a candle on a hotkey, and explain to them how to use it between their GCD abilities. Since DPS is the question with this fight (1 80 tank and healer can stay alive) it will be a big time saver.

I honestly don't see how you're supposed to "get out" of the starshards. Sure as hell doesn't seem 'stationary' to me. oddly enough the alliance players I was with didn't seem to take much damage or die. But whenever I got within melee range somehow the starshards just started hitting me. Sometimes if I ran far enough away my health stopped going down but most times it just killed me. I died maybe 5-7 times. When I stood back and used the candle it was fine. After that I dunno, I just seemed to KEEP DYING.
Still got it though, that's what's important..

On the contrary; he is pretty easy. As long as you make sure you have a decent tank and dito healer, you'll be alright. As said above and below this comment, Elune's Candle will come in handy.

You do not have to be in a party to finish this quest. All you have to do is wait for another group to kill him, stay well away so you don't get hit by his AOE, then as soon as he falls run up and basically stand on top of him. You will get the required blessing and the quest is available to be turned in.
Sure it is fun to kill him, but why waste more of your time, you need to go see all the elders in Kalimdor... I hate that achievement.

This is how we did it...
Group Consisted of...
1 Druid Feral-Tank
1 Druid Healer
1 Druid Feral-DPS
1 Marksmanship Hunter
1 Enhancement Shaman
What you will need...
You will need about 30 rockets to summon the boss.
How we survived...
The healing was a big issue, this is why we brought three druids because we could rotate the innnervates to keep the healer up on mana. This worked VERY EFFECTIVELY.
Omen randomly casts starfall over different areas of the group, with us all be 80 characters it was hitting me (hunter) for about 2400-2800 per tick every 3 seconds. GET OUT FAST!
As a group our DPS was just over 4,000 and we defeated the boss in about 19 minutes total fight.
Other than that.. tank him and spank him. The more people you have the faster he will die. But I do recommend the tri-druid setup of you plan to five man this boss.
Turning it in...
Make sure you step into the light when Omen dies, you will receive a 1-hour buff that gives you 10% bonus to your stats. Continue to the further side of Nighthaven to turn it in.
Viola! Achievement!
There you go... one more achievement--DONE.
The fight was fun...
I would say this was a cool fight to five-man, as a guild run it did take coordination to keep the dps true and strong and maintain mana for the healer. I would definetly do this every year.

I'm not going to tell you "how we did it", even though we did it with only 3 players, because your group makeup will not be the same as ours.
Instead, I'm going to give you...
Information you need to know if you want to fight Omen with less than a 10-man raid.
* Starfall is an area effect DoT, targeted on a random player on Omen's aggro list, which deals Arcane damage.
Once he casts it, it works very much like Death and Decay, though the area is a bit larger. The main difference is you actually see an animation when your character is hit by it. If you are the target, you will be hit by at least one tick unless you use an ability to get out of it quickly or make yourself immune to it. These ticks can be partially or fully resisted, and since they are considered DoT ticks
they will not push back casting
, but will obviously interrupt bandaging. I strongly suggest moving out of it ASAP, as it ticks for approximately 3k HP. I believe it lasts about 8 seconds, with ticks every 2, and he casts it about every 15-20 seconds.
* Use Elune's Candles.
These are items you can purchase from a Lunar Festival vendor in Nighthaven. They shoot a firework at your target, and if Omen is the target, they deal 1200-2000 damage to him, and are off the GCD. Hotkey it. It's basically a free 100k+ damage if you bring one with you.
* You can get out of combat.
Unlike most raid bosses, you can run about 100 yards from him to drop combat and can eat and drink. Mages, rogues, and hunters can also get out of combat in their usual ways.
* His damage is nothing special.
A geared level 80 tank and healer (spec'd for tanking and healing respectively) can survive the melee, the cleave, and whatever starfall hits you are taking, for quite a long time and possibly indefinitely - as long as you are responsibly moving out of Starfall. But if you don't have a tank and healer, fear not...
* Omen CAN be kited.
No, you cannot kite him to Orgrimmar, or anywhere beyond the bridge to the West. But you can kite him around a tree, or you can kite him around the nearby circular stone altar. If you do this with a hunter, ranged DPS and heals can run around on top of the altar. That way, the hunter can feign death if things get hairy, and Omen will walk all the way around the altar to the ramp to reach the other DPS. When he gets close, you can jump off, and he will walk all the way back. By then the hunter should have bandaged and be ready to go again. But even if you fail...
* When Omen resets, his health does not.
This might be a bug, but it's currently true. If you can get him to 50%, and he resets, he will remain at 50% until you are ready to engage him again.

At 3.0.8, He doesn't hit very hard but takes alot of time to kill due to 4.2M health, I recommend at >least< 5 lvl 80 players where 1 is tank and 2 healers, and rest DPS. You should bring as many DPS you can.

Did him today with a group of 14 people, some 80s, some below, but all 70+. We had only 2 healers and it seemed hardly anyone bothered to move out of the starfall effect, so our healers run out of mana around 50%. Don't think anyone was using the candles either. We always had at least a few ppl alive before the healers got back to their bodies, so no wipe, just a bit repairs. So it's completely possible to do it with a PUG of people who don't know what's going on and what do to a part from dpsing. Some didn't even know how to get there.
And just to confirm, his health doesn't reset when he does. We were starting him at 99%.

Not a terribly difficult fight, it just took forever. I wouldn't recommend doing it with less than 5 unless everybody is very well geared and the healer has amazing regen and a large mana pool. I had to use innervate every time it was up.

If your guild is offline or you are not part of a guild and you want this achievement, it's fairly simple to get it without evening fighting Omen, even if your realm is overrun by members of the opposing faction. All you have to do is ride into the light of his corpse after he's been killed.
My realm is heavily weighted towards the Horde and I'm Alliance. I did not want to bother my guild to come out and get me the achievement as they were busy with other things. So I went to Moonglade and hid in the hills to the south of Omen's stomping grounds. There are ruins, hills and trees you can hide in and also see Omen from. With max viewing distance enabled, you can see him, plus you can hear him.
So if you AFK and watch TV with your sound on, you will hear him when he's summoned and you will hear him while he's fighting. You will not see the members of the opposing faction killing him which is a plus because they will not see you. So you can simply select Omen and watch his health go down.
When he's dead, make sure you're careful not to be seen by the other faction. Sneak up to where you can see the Horde around his corpse, but not be seen by them. Use the terrain and camera angle to your advantage. You should be able to watch the combat log if you can't see them from where you're hiding and watch as they mount up, kill deer, etc. I believe you have approximately 5 minutes during which you can ride up to his corpse and into the light and after a second, obtain Elune's Blessing and complete the achievement.
Be careful riding back to Nighthaven to turn in the quest if you just watched the other faction kill Omen. They'll usually hang out for a bit and then scatter. However, they sometimes get irked if they know you freeloaded off their kill. ;)
Easiest solo "tough" achievement ever!

Quests marked as "raid quest" can be done in group or even solo (theoretically) but quests that are
not

For hunters....this creature is not only a boss lvl mob....but a demon as well. Boss lvl + demon= no tame. However u can just go to Azuremyst and tame the Kurken.....a core hound with the exact same model (not quite as strong as an npc as Omen is tho =P)

I formed a 5 man group to tank this so I had a gauge of how much threat I had, but we could have completed this without grouping at all.
Everyone (Horde and Alliance) was just standing around waiting for someone to take out the already summoned Omen.
I ran in with my Captain America shield throw with a tree right behind me, and tanked the fight with zero danger of dying. After a minute or so everyone realised that our group wasn't dying like the other groups that had tried before us and ran in to help dps.
After <5 minutes, the boss was dead and glowing. All was well.

If you have an Elune's Lantern from previous years, make sure you destroy it first else you won't be able to complete the quest.
It's good they offer quests to people who have already completed it.

Got there this morning to check out the area, and suddenly thought to myself "what if?".
So, I summoned him and began kiting him around in a circle (to avoid the starfall) judging light and using seal of light, i was able to dps him down while kiting in a circle to 85% in about 20minutes. Had it not been for the Warlock and Death Knight that showed up, after two hours (both horde - also needed the quest), I'd have soloed him.
As a prot paladin, this is definitely solo able with decent gear.

This is, by far, the least appealing achievement in all of the year's World Events. There is no loot, and all you have to do is be nearby when someone else drops him. At least when you could kite him to nearby cities, there was reason for people to be there after the first day.
Now, it is impossible to get a group together. 30 people on trade want to do the SFK boss for Valentines, but Omen is forgotten.

This boss can be 2 manned by a hunter + healer. (If you have ALOT of time and I mean ALOT)
Simply switch between aspect of the dragonhawk / viper / cheetah and kite around the Nightelf like moonwell / fountain object behind him. Have your healer walk up on the fountain and run around with you (or just stay stationary and cast one heal each time you pass him by) The heals are just because it's very hard if not impossible to avoid the aoe damage.
But as said, a moving hunter with no buffs or anything vs 5,8 Million HP, it takes a couple of hours.
It's a cool thing to do though and a real trophy for a hunter! Good ol' nessingwary would be proud of you.
Happy hunting! //Danom

Soloed as an 80 death knight with a ~5000 gear score in tank gear. You could do it with far less gear though.
Some tips for other enthusiastic death knights:
Glyph of Disease
for more
Death Strikes
.
Glyph of Death's Embrace
coupled with
Lichborne
.
You'll need to avoid at least some of the Starfalls. Try to use
Anti-Magic Shell
on cooldown while you run out of them.
Other notes:
Since omen can no longer be kited, you will receive no support besides the guards at the Stormrage Barrow Dens, however they will die within one to two ticks of Starfall and their deaths have a good chance to reward you with a decrease in reputation with Cenarion Circle.
Took 55 minutes. Only 3 people came to help during the course of the fight, and each of them died in the first few Starfalls, gave up and either left or sat there and waited for me to finish soloing him.

I did have to shadowmeld twice to drop combat (his health doesn't reset) in order to heal myself. Took about an hour. Definitely better to bring a friend or two, but if you tend to put things off or play late like I do, it is manageable on your own depending on your class.

As of Cataclysm it is easy for a tank to solo this boss, without any need of kiting or anything else suggested above. I initially went in my dk unholy dps spec and was able to knock off 2 million health very quickly, but was unable to keep my health. In tank spec and gear however, it was slower going but easy to maintain 90% plus health at all times until he died.
One thing to note, it took me about 20 firework clusters to summon him

Not updated for the new level cap for the 2011 version of the event, he is still equal to a wrath faction boss with 5.58 million hp.
Bit of a shame really as he can be soloed by many level 85 classes which takes the drama out of the situation.
Here's hoping for a newer version of him next year that is more challenging.

I kinda soloed him today with my shadow priest with ilvl 327. Very early in the morning so there wasn't anyone there to help me when I started the fight.
What I did was popped Inner Will, applied dots, ran down the path until I was about 40 yards past the bridge, then he evaded. I was actually trying to see how much dmg I could do before I died so I was releaved to see that he did. (Being oom of spamming improved devouring plague, while watching over my shoulder)
Very surprised to see that he didn't regenerate unto full health so I rinsed and repeated that run for like 20 times. I was able to wash of a "stunning" 200K-ish hp's each run. :P Ofc I used cd's when available. (dispersion, shadow fiend, PW: shield etc..)
At the end, when he was about 30% I got help from a mage and we managed to nuke him down together in 3 more "runs".
Ah, and forgot to mention that I died twice in the process. I know it sounds kinda noobish, but I had a lot of fun doing it :D

Solo'd him today on Feathermoon. Level 85 Belf MM Hunter and mah bear pet. Not all that epically geared, An item score of 335 - so it can be done at relatively lower gear levels. Took *FOREVER* But I managed to down him. Starfall is really just annoying more than anything - constant moving is going to keep any caster from DPS'in too much - but aspect of the fox'd and it was fine. If you're not a tank, or don't have a tank built in - you'll want one. Tried this guy on my 85 Mage and got slaughtered.
Used 19 rocked clusters before he showed up - then set pet on him and ran around like a chicken with my head cut off. To give you an idea of how long the fight took, I used my Rapid Fire CD about 6 times.. Lol. So..not incredebly long.. but not short either.
Happy Hunting!

Just solo'ed him as an 85 shadow priest. Fairly simple for any class that can do multiple DoT's. Load him up with DoT's/instants at the location where he engages. Run him back west, around the curve and up to the first bridge, reapplying DoT's as you go. He'll reset soon after crossing the first bridge, but his HP does NOT reset. Mount up and fly back to where he spawned, and rinse/repeat.
I averaged about 250k damage done to him per run, with variances on shadowfiend and devouring plague/sw:p/vampiric touch ticks.

At 85, you should be able to two-man Omen with any DPS/healer combination. With the less squishy of the pair tanking, the healer should be able to keep their partner (or themselves) alive simply using their most efficient healing rotation. In leather or better, Omen's damage - even if you're standing in his
Starfall
- is laughable in heroic blues, and should not be too difficult to work through if you're not too far behind. Priest healers should use
Inner Fire
to these ends, should you opt to work with clothie DPS.
If your DPS is doing the tanking, the encounter should be little more than a trivial - if protracted - tank/spank. You may be constrained by threat in the event that your healer is tanking. Working with a bona fide tank, of course, makes things substantially more straightforward, but such is not the purpose of my contribution today.
Healers
-
The following is a run-down of mana-efficient, "maintenance" healing rotations which you may already be familiar with if you have a basic foundation of your class in a healing role. The information provided below is intended as a guide for those who are less experienced.
Holy Priest:
You'll want to use your
Heal Chakra
. Put up
Renew
, maintain with
Heal
;
Holy Word: Serenity
if necessary.
Inner Fire
if tanking; use your choice of self-buff if your partner is. As you do not have a taunt, your partner will have to exercise ample caution with regard to not pulling threat if you are doing the tanking.
Discipline Priest:
A well-geared Discipline priest may be able to sustainably utilize
Smite
to proc
Atonement
to heal their partner. A viable alternative strategy is to lead using
Power Word: Shield
, filling in the gaps with
Heal
(reducing the duration of the
Weakened Soul
debuff via
Strength of Soul
) and
Penance
. Again,
Inner Fire
if tanking; otherwise, it's your choice. As with Holy Priests, your partner will be responsible for managing their own threat if you are tanking.
Restoration Druid:
Rolling a three-stack of
Lifebloom
using
Nourish
(via
Empowered Touch
) should be sufficient.
Clearcasting
procs can be expended on
Healing Touch
, or
Regrowth
, followed by with
Swiftmend
, if the need is dire. A well-geared druid can utilise
Tree of Life
's buff to
Wrath
to expedite the encounter. If you are tanking, switching into
Bear Form
to
taunt
is an effective means of allowing your partner more DPS time.
Restoration Shaman:
If your partner is tanking,
Earth Shield
them,
Water Shield
on yourself. If you are tanking, pick and choose - and don't be afraid to swap around - based on whether you're falling behind on healing or mana.
Healing Wave
should be your go-to heal;
Earth Shield
and
Riptide
should adequately fill in the gaps.
Earthliving
is probably your strongest choice as a weapon imbue, though it may be prudent to keep a spare weapon imbued with
Rockbiter
if you are tanking - used in conjunction with
Unleash Elements
, it affords you a taunt to rescue an overenthusiastic partner. Totems are your call - use them to cover your weaknesses, or accentuate your strengths, though I strongly suggest the use of
Mana Spring Totem
, unless you are not having issues conserving mana.
Holy Paladin:
Beacon
your tank. You should be able to work through the damage between
Holy Light
to stack Holy Power (via
Tower of Radiance
) and
Word of Glory
.
Holy Shock
can similarly be put to good use. Use
Seal of Insight
, and
judge
on cooldown.
Righteous Fury
is an invaluable asset if you are tanking; reckless DPS can be assisted with the use of
Hand of Salvation
, or
bubbled
while you allow yourself the time to
taunt
...
twice
, if necessary.
Even with very low DPS output, the encounter should take you no longer than 15 minutes. At 5.578m HP, a combined effective DPS of
6,198
will be sufficient to take him down before the (arbitrary) 15 minute mark.
Omen will deal roughly
3-4k DPS on leather
, which can be reduced by moving out of Starfall.
Good luck!
edit>
By the same token, a healer that can sustainably maintain their "efficient" rotations without burning through their mana reserves should be able to solo Omen, albeit slowly and painfully. Heroic gear should suffice for these purposes.

I just kited him around the ruins as an 85 Fire Mage. Took 2 time warps, plenty of mana shield, and Firestarter talent.
Easily solo'able for kiting classes.
edit:
Forgot to mention, he bugged out on me when I attempted to bring him much further than the ruins, and proceeded to evade. Fortunately the pillars around there don't seem to block LoS, so there is really no need to do anything more than run in circles.

I went to do this on my mage and found a pally already attacking him. I tried to help and ended up aggroing Omen. The pally invited me to a group and I joined. He healed and kept me up pretty easily, even dpsed, and I tanked him. There was a boomy trying to help us so we invited her too. It took about 7 minutes to kill him. So to those who are only have a clothie and a healer- it can be done easily! :)

I was able to solo this as an 85 warlock, with one death. Luckily, if you die, his health doesn't reset.
This guy has a LOT of health. I mean, millions and millions. So it'll be a slow fight solo. My average ilevel is 349.
Because you can't just blast this guy down, you need to conserve your mana. The tactic that was easiest, if most boring, was to bring out my voidwalker, put the VW on Omen, and alternate between putting dots up and healing my pet. No attacks on the boss but the dots until the very end. Why? Because if you let the aggro build up on you slowly, you'll be able to shatter each time he hits 100% aggro and refocus him on your pet. The cooldown on shatter will be up by the next time your dots pull aggro. Also, VW has a nifty bubble which you can use if the star shards are getting annoying. They don't hurt too bad now, and you can run out of them, but once the next patch goes out with changes to fel armor's method of health regen they might be more annoying.
If you use that method, you won't die. The fight will just be slow.
Before I tried that method I tried DPSing him with a "normal" demonology rotation, and yeah, that's when I realized he wasn't like Problim with only 300k health. He was dropping so slow, and I was "drain tanking" because I needed mana to lifetap with and eventually ran out of both mana and health when he was at 50%. If I'd begun with slow dots and the VW I wouldn't have died.
Since I did this as demonology, you shouldn't have to be affliction to whittle him down with dots. In fact, I wonder if being affliction might make it harder because your dots would hit harder and generate more aggro.

In Moonglade long ago lived a predatory beast called Omen. He was extremely fierce, with two pale, snarling, biting heads topped with a heavy silver collar with spikes sharpened to blades.
He dwelled deep in the waters of Lake Elune'ara there, deep within the silt below where his slumber would not be disturbed at any time of the year.
At the turn of the year- every Lunar Festival- Omen would up from the lake Elune'ara and terrorize our homelands. He would attack our villages and he devoured our livestock whole. Our brothers and sisters would fall to his fangs and hunger.
We had done what we will to fight Omen with blade and arrow or to bring him back with spell, but the evil beast would not be repelled. For this reason, every Lunar's Festival our people would take their old and young deep into the Barrows to hide and lock themselves within the highest canopies of their homes.
One Lunar Festival in Moonglade there was an old man who had come to seek refugee. He told the Druids there that if they let him stay the night, he would chase the beast away when it had arrived. No one had believed the brother and he refused to hide in the Barrows when the night had come. When they saw that he would not be persuaded, they left him behind.
As every year before, Omen had arrived to Moonglade from the depths of the lake with an army of beasts as large as the shore upon which they climbed. He, the monster, had come to have his havoc as every year before. As they descended upon desolate Moonglade, all hope had seemed lost for the village and the old man.
There was the sound of firecrackers- suddenly bursting, exploding! There were lights all around, loud noises, and red banners that hung from all the bannisters and rooves. Omen, with horror in his four eyes, had turned and fled.
In the morning, when they would normally slumber, the elves of Moonglade had returned to find the village intact and safe. The old, wise man was gone but they found the remains of the three precious items he had used to chase Omen away. They thought the man an Ancient who had come to help free them of the beast.
And so, from then on, every Lunar's Festival the banners would be hung by families and they would set off firecrackers and light their lanterns to hang them around the village to await the new year.
Every year, Omen raises again- only to be chased away once more by the fireworks and the heroes that come to see the weakened best back to the waters of Lake Elune'ara.

It doesn't reset hp when you wipe, so it can be soloed by any class, if you don't bother spending money for a lot of repairs

For MoP he has 21 806 850 million health.

Confirmed, he does indeed seem to have TWENTY ONE MILLION MILLION hit points in MoP

During this years Event, he has more than 200 million hp. His health remains the same from previous fights so when he was down to ~25%,i managed to solo him by kiting around a tree next to one of the firecracker posts (its a large tree towards the western one). Fairly easy as a Lvl 90 Ret. Paladin.

Soloed by me, a prot warrior ilvl 489. Took me 11 mins plus the few wipes I had when I tried as fury.
I did about 22k DPS, changed my talent to
Second Wind
, and kept using
Shield Barrier
. Logically I moved out of
Starfall
.
I think it is doable by lower ilvls, if well prepareted. I ate a crit food, had only my self buff, and no flask.

I just soloed it 3 mins ago on my lvl 90 Subtlety Rogue (ilvl 460), all you need is
Shuriken Toss
,
Burst of Speed
and around 15 mins, you can take
Deadly Throw
too for some extra damage.
You have to kite him between Stormrage Barrow Dens and the bridge on the road to the South.

This boss is soloable for casters just did this on my hunter. One your way to Omen there is a small bridge that you cross. After you cross it to your right there is a tree around 56,67. It is kinda elliptical (most of the trees are round in that area). You can kite Omen AND cast through the tree.
Summon him and drag him back to this tree. There are two factors that will let you know that you are at the right tree.
1. You can cast through the tree and hit Omen.
2. You can get Omen "stuck" by moving left and right when Omen is on the other side of the tree.
ProTip: Don't stand in the starfire.
Even if you happen to die the bosses health does not reset.

I think Omen needs a loot table. He could drop a mini version of himself as a battle pet along with Moon Moon, some small fireworks/firework clusters, ancestry coins, schematics/patterns. Maybe one of the robes, and maybe a rare toy item that does something related to Lunar Festival, like giving you a levitate buff that also makes you glow white along with the symbol of Elune haloing above your head. The loot drops would work like Timeless Isle or Moonfang from Darkmoon Island where you're guaranteed to get something on your first kill, but the rest is up to chance.
I could come up with ideas for all of the holidays that are perfectly doable by Blizzard with very little effort. I just Blizzard would take these types of ideas from players into consideration more often. But i guess an hour or two lost to giving Omen a loot table is an hr or two lost to working on WoD?. *shrugs*

Just solo'd on my 88 hunter, well kindof... I would of solo'd him but people showed up part of the way through to help dps him. I just stayed in cheetah aspect, ran around in a big circle, freeze trapping the one minion in my way and never got hit. First tried to pet tank him, that doesn't work at 88, so I just left my pet on passive until I had alot of threat built up then just let him follow and beat on him for some extra damage. If he's starting to catch up you can get him caught on stuff such as the giant tree and the broken columns to help slow him down a little, just make sure you don't get caught. Doesn't have any ranged attack except starfall and it will never hit you if you keep moving.

I've never been the one to summon Omen so I don't know if this is different from previous years, but wanted to get it posted in case it is:
To summon, you can spam cluster rockets (the basic ones sold by
春节商人
) in the rocket launchers, and/or shoot the minion wolves with
艾露恩的蜡烛
(sold by
瓦拉达尔·星歌
, the guy who gives you the Blessing quest).
I'm not sure how many wolves need to be hit, probably at least a dozen or more, but older comments say it can take 30-40 rockets to summon. Maybe someone else had already used some rockets, but I bought 40 rockets (two stacks), and Omen appeared after using just 20. Just stood at one of the launchers as well, didn't bother with the other one.

pretty easy to solo on a windwalker, kite using role, flying serpent kick and tigers lust, the spam with fire blossom, use expel harm to get chi, and when you can karma and attack with normal rotation. rise repeat till dead.

I am finding some conflicting information on how to summon
Omen
, so I decided to experiment. I can confirm that you do not have to kill his minions in order to summon him. You just need to fire 30 rocket clusters from the cluster launchers by the lake, near Stormrage Barrow Dens. (
You may fire less than that if someone was there shooting off rockets before you
.) I tested using
Blue Rocket Cluster
,
Green Rocket Cluster
and
Red Rocket Cluster
. Also, in case anyone cares, it seems that the
Lucky Rocket Cluster
will also work. (
I watched someone else use these while summoning
.) I know that this is a little late this year to be much help, but hopefully it will help in the future.
TL;DR: All you need is 30 rocket clusters. Killing his minions is unnecessary.

Soloed as an ilevel 660 Blood DK. There's not much to say about this - just AMS the Starfalls for some runic power and don't overheal with Death Strike as usual.
Near the end of the fight you will be hit for quite a lot of damage - 50k melees and 60k Cleaves or more, so save your armor potion, cooldowns, and healing tonic for then.

i'm on a slightly dead horde server but i still managed to do it.
i kited him around on my horde monk while the alliance hit him from the back.
was woried that they'd gank me afterwards but nope, it's nice to be able to work together with the other side for a common goal.

As a level 100 Protection paladin (ilevel 637) I was no match for him in straight combat. Neither were the few alliance/horde helpers around. We got him down to about halfway, that was it and my gear was below 40% from dying.
In the end, I simply kited him around the big tree/house with the lvl 100 warders in front. Unfortunately, they don't help but the way around the tree/building was bumpy enough that I was faster than Omen (could be my Pursuit of Justice talent though).
Used consecration, holy wrath and the occasional judgment and light's hammer (drop it in your path, it will heal you and harm him) along with Sacred Shield in case I got in a starfall for a few moments. Easily kiteable (and I'd never tried to kite something to death before) and available help (A/H) took shots at the meandering beast.
It took ten minutes, maximum, to bring him all the way down and even though he was flagged for horde in the end I stood in the moonlight on his corpse and got the blessing/achievement.

Summoned by standing by the launcher, and setting off the clusters I got from the red envelopes I got while honoring the elders. I don't recall how many I needed, but I think it was about 10-15.
I didn't exactly solo as an iLVL 654 hunter. There were a few other people hanging around, DPSing, and I kited around a bit.
You don't need to be in a raid group. As long as you stand in the light of his corpse, you'll do it.

If you want the blessing achievement or quest you do not actually have to kill him. If you find him dead on the floor just walk into the light beam that comes from his corpse and you get the achievement so no need to wait and resummon.

Two headed dog like a corehound but not bright and more fluffy! you can summon by using firework clusters in the cluster launchers around the lake. you can spawn him right after he dies just make sure you have around 10-15 firework clusters! (no loot boss) Then a few seconds after he dies you can stand on his corpse for the Elune's Blessing buff.

I just soloed it with a Protection Warrior, patch 8.1. Item level around 380, just move from the Starfall, use your cds and Last Stand on cd to keep your health up, any warlock rocks or other heals are obviously welcome, but his damage is neglegible. If someone helps you with dps it should not pose a problem at all.
As for summoning, I killed two of his minions while stunning them with the Candle of Elune, while also firing around 3 Red Rocket Cluster.

For folks like me who are bad at paying attention to what NPCs tell you, this is how to summon Omen. You can perform one of two actions:
1. Spam event fireworks (
红色烟花束
,
幸运烟花束
,
绿色烟花束
, etc...) in the two cluster launchers located near the quest's map marker at
(64.1, 61.4)
-or-
2. Pick up an
艾露恩的蜡烛
from
瓦拉达尔·星歌
at coordinates
(53.6, 35.2)
and repeatedly fire them off at Omen's minions (
年兽的爪牙
) located all around the quest's map marker at
(64.1, 61.4)
.

Around 2000k hp so about the same as a weak uldum/vale rare but with none of the damage. He is very easy to solo for a lvl 120 in 8.3

Killed it today alone with my level 60 warrior.
I took 20% of his life and I was dying, then i stepped out of reach and it returned to its starting location, deaggroed, but it didnt recovered its life. i kept repeating the process reducing his health little by little and managing my life in betweens.
It took me 4/5 battles to kill it and could get the elunes blessing.

The fight is a major mobility check. If you can fleeeeeee you can do it, otherwise, you need enough people able to kite it so he doesn't get close. He's a goddess' overpowered boyfriend. 'Nuff said.
