Urok Doomhowl is not actually a rare spawn, but is summoned. You can summon him buy killing Highlord Omokk, the ogre boss in Lower Blackrock Spire and looting his head. You will also need to loot a pike that is leaning against a wall near Vaela, the giver of the UBRS key quest.

Once you have his head and a pike, go past the spiders in Lower Blackrock Spire, but before the scorpions. You will see a group of ogres on a corner of a ledge. Near them will be a pile of skulls called a tribute pile. Once you clear those ogres, use the pike and the head to start the event. Upon summoning many waves of elite ogres will come. This fight will seem very hard if you do not utilize the pike in the tribute pile. You may use it once every 30 seconds to eliminate an ogre from the fight. Eventually, after about 10 ogres, Urok Doomhowl will show up, and you can kill him.

Finding the pike can be a little annoying. After you cross the second bridge, on the left side there will be a group of four mobs. Beyond that are two sleeping orcs, and right next to them are the pikes leaning against the wall.

I would not suggest trying to solo this as a rogue.

My rogue is mostly in T6 gear and I figured that it'd be a walk in the park when I summoned it...

The ogres killed me so easy, it wasn't even funny.

If you wipe after planting the head on the pike, you don't get a second chance. You'll have to get the head and pike and try all over again.

If you wipe while fighting Urok himself, he'll stay there. So you can wipe safely after the waves of ogres, killing urok later.

Also important to note, if you let the spawns take down the pike, they stop spawning and Urok will NOT spawn.

This is on the far eastern side of the map. They do not have the sparklies that quest items have so do look out for the pair of sleeping orcs.

Killed a total of 97 ogres before i gave up, i probably had around 30 ogres if not more chasing me down the instance :/
Took me around 15 mins of nonstop fighting

After killing a number of ogres Urok never spawned. I followed the questline and now I finds it is bugged? It took me several hours to clear this thing!

Might be bugged now. Planted the pike with the head, killed off the summoned ogres, and then waited around while no others showed up. The pike was still there, and I even used it a bunch more times, but he never came.

Level 80 warlock here. I planted the spike and the 'little' ogres came out. I threw dots on all of them and kept killing them as they spawned. Urok showed up so I threw some extra dots on him. When they all died, Urok's body was nowhere to be found so I am gonna reset and try again. Gotta go back in to get some eggs anyway.

Summoned Urok today with a level 59-65 group (druid tank, priest, rogue, mage, dk); it seemed to be a relatively simple fight, starting with 2 elite ogres, followed by 1 more appearing every 15 seconds or so, with approximately 8-10 waves. We downed the whole fight without much of a struggle in a few minutes. We never used the pike at all, nor found a need to since it didn't look like they were going for it. The only annoyance was the random fears towards the end.

Reading here makes it seem like it was supposed to be more difficult but maybe this boss instance was downgraded with Cataclysm?

Reading the posts before, I just have to say that it worked properly for me today. Killed all the spawns and Urok showed up. Dropped Marksman's Girdle

If you want to summon Urok Doomhowl there is a nice description of it on a Comment for an outdated quest by the same name, taken out of game now: http://www.wowhead.com/quest=4867. It's nice and has a good drawing and description.

Go here for a description of how to get the Pike. Go here for a description about how to get Omokk's Head. I wrote comments in each regarding how to get those items, where they are and such. You need both; they are before and at the first boss so it could be a long haul if you forget.

If you have both items, you can now summon Urok Doomhowl.

Where is he? If you come from the entrance of the instance and make your way to the large cavernous room, come in and get your bearings. Right before you will be a wooden planked rope bridge and a lot of orc mobs. There is a huge space in the middle; about 1/2 way down on the right hand side of the structure you will see a gong and trolls (mark them; by them is a doorway to 2 troll bosses, and then at the gong you will jump down for more bosses). To the right of the troll and up one floor, , you will see a stone pathway with ogres at each door an a pat (mark one; there is a boss at the end of that path). Now look at the right most side of you. There, across the way, are 5 ogres (some will be mages and some will be warriors). I mark one of them too. Take note at the corner of their platform; you will see the skull pile.

If you are doing the instance as normal, you would kill Omokk, who is the ogre in the first level, where you saw the ogres patting on the walkway. Then normally you would exit the troll area, go left and left again, proceeding to where you marked a troll standing at the gong. Inside that doorway are the 2 troll bosses, Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin and War Master Voone (nothing hard to find; the first is in the first room up a ramp, and the second is downstairs behind a left-hand grate but the open doorway on the right takes you there.

Usually after that you would exit the troll area (the troll area has a different, shadowy and colored look and feel) and, while standing right next to the troll gong, you jump down to bottom and proceed to the left, killing orcs all the way. After that, you would proceed upwards into the spider boss's lair. There are also some scorpions or scorpids here and there and more troll mobs on the way up. Anyway, once you are in the purple-tinted spider boss's lair, you will see a stone bridge and a rather dim violet glow, then you kill her, then exit right into a zone more typical of your LBRS dungeon.

At the top of the spider boss's lair you will find yourself coming into Hordemar City again and you will immediately see a pathway going up to the right; follow it. At the top on the right are the 4-5 ogre mobs you saw from the entrance which I told you to mark. The caster is called a Shadow Mage (I forget what the warrior types are called). They are standing on an apron overlooking the troll gong, the ogre pathway over to Omokk and the cavernous room where you recall seeing the wooden bridges with the rope handrails.

That apron is the location of the Urok's Tribute Pile (I submitted pictures of this). You would just kill the ogres. Then basically while standing on top of the Tribute Pile, click the Skull in your bag (you need both that and the pike, remember). Then you will see the head on a pike appear and you defend it. Some cool graphics spawn and about 4 mages will appear; kill them. I got a second wave also; kill them too. Finally Urok appears and you get to kill him for fun and profit.

I submitted some screenshots here but they haven't been approved yet; one is of what you are looking for when you first might see the Pikes; another is a shot of the bird's eye view from the skull pile, showing you the locations of the ogre boss, troll room/gong and an X marking where to jump.

"Urok's Tribute Pile" is a bunch of skulls in a group of 尖石军阀s (ogres), a bit after 烟网蛛后 and just before 黑石塔蝎子s. Using 欧莫克的徽记 & 尖锐长矛 near it spawns a bunch of mobs. Use the item you created (in tribute pile) to spawn more mobs and eventually 乌洛克 :)

This guy is the leader of the Dark Horde's ogre army. He uses Highlord Omokk (whom you have to kill to summon him) as a front, presenting him as leader presumably to avoid being taken down by a more capable opponent - an unexpected kind of cunning for a single-headed ogre.

I don't think this is obsolete since you can get the pike and the head and kill Urok, but there is a treasure chest off in an alcove to the right of the start of the skitterweb tunnels that remains locked after everything else is done, so is there something additional you can do so that will open?

If you kill Urok while Warosh is close by, he will yell:

"Rawww! Urok is dead! Haha!"

This can still be done as of patch 7.0.3. The Pike is on a rack after you cross the two wooden bridges the first time you enter Hordemar City. The rack is on the left wall. You know its correct when you hover your pointer over them, they highlight yellow and your cursor turns to a gear.

After you obtain the Pike, clear the room of trash mobs then head down the hallway directly opposite of where you got the pike. You will be in a purplish room with ogres and a hill of Rubble. Kill the ogres and Highlord Omokk. He head will be with his loot after you down him.

Backtrack to the previous room where you got the pike drop down in the center of the room. Go around the corner and this will take you to a room with a ramp leading up directly in front of you and a ramp leading down to the left of you. If you go up the ramp, you can turn left to kill Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin at the dead end. Do not turn right as it takes you back to the pike room. Head down the ramp and head right to kill War Master Voone at the dead end (entrance will have a purple glow). The other exit of this room takes you farther into the dungeon. Go around the rubble, past the orc tents while clearing trash mobs. You will then see a ramp up and will start seeing spider mobs with a few scorpion mobs. Mother Smolderweb will be directly to your left (she has a chance to drop a rare spider pet). Go straight forward across the metal beam, up the ramp and around the corner. You will enter Hordemar City a second time. In the far right corner is a pile of skulls called Urok's Tribute. Here go in to your inventory and right click on Omokk's Head which will put his head on the pike in the pile of skulls. It will start to glow and you will defend it from 2 waves of ogres. The third wave will have Urok Doomhowl, he is larger with armor. Kill him and there you are!

As of the patch listed above he is a bonus objective that will net a lvl 55 player around 7800 exp before any exp bonuses from heirlooms or exp buff potions are considered. A max level player will just get loot. Hope this helps!

Since none of the descriptions above helped me re: where the pile of skulls are, let me put the following hoping it'll help someone else so they don't have to watch the video like I did. (Warning: if you do, it has loud music. I muted it.)

1.) it's nowhere near either the pike or Omokk

2.) it's up the ramp (read: busted up ground) and on the far right side of the platform after you pass the funky purple-green-blue campfire that's at the end of the area where all the spiders are (Skitterweb Tunnels).

3.) it is, indeed, on the level that says Urok Doomhowl on the map.

Between what's above and this, hopefully you can figure out where it is now.

As of 7.3 this might bug on you. It's been a few years for me, but our group of 5 just summoned and completed the Urok event at the tribute pile, and when it was over, there were a couple things wrong. 1) There was no loot on Urok or his pals for anyone in the party. Nor was there a chest to loot. 2) None of us got credit for the kill, in the Bonus Objectives quest section. Odd.

Day 2, and another clear of LBRS brought our (same) group a totally different Urok Doomhowl fight. This time, after summoned, only his set of guards (his summons) came, and Urok did not appear. We took out the summons. And then noticed that the pike was still in the ground by the pile, with the "gear" symbol. When we used that gear, it re-started the whole event over again, this time with Urok as well as his summons (a second set).

It went bad because we were either AFK, or just standing around randomly in the area. On our way back, everthing had despawned. I don't think we will try this event next time through.

Side note: It appears that Wyrmthalak is handing out the "Mark of the Dragon Lord" (sorry I didn't link it) epic ring. As 4 of us now have it, after only 2 runs. Get yours while their hot!
