change realID to UniqueID and it'll actually be useful.
"Premium" = "Pay us an extra $2 a month for this feature."No thanks. Unfortunately they're likely to do this with cross-realm BoA items, too. What a shame.edit: Since people seem to take any sort of criticism of Blizzard to be 'whining', let me elucidate. There are many other games out there right now -- certainly, not as popular as WoW -- that offer equivalent or alternatives to the "not getting to play close to your friends" solutions for.... free. There is also a strongly-growing F2P MMO count, where such features are 'premium,' that is, the game does not require a monthly fee, but if you did happen to pay an optional monthly fee OR did a one-time payment, you get access to the feature. WoW is the lone exception where it about to get away with not only being subscription based, but also is now attempting to sell account features to people who are already paying a subscription fee. It is outright exorbitant compared to every single other mainstream MMO out on the market. Any other game company attempting this with their game would've been blasted by its customers. Honestly though.... look at what we pay already to play WoW. We are already paying $150-180 a year for access to this game; that sounds pretty premium-level to me.
Sounds interesting at first read. I wonder what "premium service" means. More money? Most likely. I probably won't do this.. most of my friends play on my server, or on another faction.
"With the continued popularity of the Dungeon Finder".?. the dungeon finder is almost nearly reviled in many circles, otherwise we wont be putting up with paying tanks on our own servers for a group.and what is meant by 'premium service'? account has to be upgraded for such a feature? something like this should have been made available when the lfd tool came out nearly 2 years ago.(although it was not needed then, as dungeons were easy).on a more positive note something like this might make cross server raids a reality someday. only problem is is it really worth upgrading an account for this feature if premium service entails a payment of some kind.
I was excited until I got to the "premium service" part. I guess they figure if we can "get out of" server transfers by grouping with friends cross-realm, they have to make up the "loss" some how.*sigh*
This is the very fist time i feel bretrayed. This is starting to look as a free-to-play(pay) game but where u have to pay montly anyway. too bad its a feature that i wont pay and will affect my enjoyment of the game, cos i will know i cant finally play with my friends without paying that. I wish they had that released before cata so i would reconsider paying expensive in New Zealand
Wow having to pay for this is pathetic. I've been really hoping/looking forward to this for a while. My sub is up soon and this WAS one more reason to keep paying, now it's one more reason to stop
That's actually pretty cool. I wonder how far they will go - perhaps one day we will be able to do a Wowhead raid? :)
I vote people who have been playing since vanilla get the premium service for free.
Yes, it's absolutely outrageous that some people require payment for their work.
In Before tons of people who suddenly have a bunch of cross server friends that they just can't live without playing with now.In Before hundreds of examples of things that will be "premium" next, like using the AH, or entering a raid, or any other ridiculous thing.Look, you pay $15 bucks a month and have paid that same amount for the past 6 years. Up until now, if you wanted to play with friends on another server, you'd need to pay to server transfer, or reroll a brand new character. Now, if you just HAVE to group with that friend, you can pay $2 a month and now suddenly do something you couldn't really do before.Big project, limited appeal. Please don't cry about this...My opinion, Blizzard should just raise the cost of the game to $19, call it the cost of inflation, and give away the premium stuff. Think that would cause less complaining. Do you think there's any way to stop people from complaining on the internet?
Anyone who thinks this being a premium service is a good idea is insane. Its a good idea for sure, but the premium part, which in other words means give us your money for this, ruins it. Paying to play with friends from other servers? Pathetic. Blizzard is continuing their downhill slope with WoW.
I think we all pay enough for a wow sub. However increasing the cost "slightly" may be the way forward.People hear enough these days about "you need a premium account to access this service" or " permission denied, sign up now for a premium account" without the need for another great company to implement this system. Not only that but how much will this supposed "premium service" cost? I mean some people are struggling enough these days.Back on topic:I think cross realm party/groups would be brilliant. I look forward to this!
Not gonna pay extra for something like this.
Eh, not paying extra.
