Hm. Never played Guild Wars, but I hear it isn't a bad game.
Meh, if i was going to leave wow, id go to warhammer, not GW
Guild Wars. My first MMO love <3.But seriously. If you haven't checked out GW2 yet.. I recommend you take a look (:
Woo! Ill probably go to GW2 when it comes out because I dont have to pay for it consistently. Yayness!
The original GW was a fantastic game that dared to break free from the EQ model of MMO. Thus it earned a lot of contempt from the 'time spent=difficulty' crowd because it was geared to let you get to max level very quickly and then focus on playing your char at full power instead of making it all about the level treadmill and gear acquisition. It didn't feed elitist notions of earning 'better' gear, only allowing for those who wanted 'pretty' equipment to gain it.It still is one of the most balanced examples of a PvP game. Teamwork and skill made the difference in GW, not level and gear. From what I've heard, the continuing defiance of MMO tradition in GW2 is making it sound like a wonderful continuation of the original's legacy. In particular I love the notion that you should never be resentful of the presence of another player in the area as a core design philosophy. The dynamic events which scale up in reward based on level of participation encourage people to work together in a free-form way. The abolishment of a dedicated healing class is another milestone I'm happy to hear of.It is NOT an EQ-style game, and those who want such a game probably won't enjoy GW. But those who are more open-minded, or moreso those who HATE such game styles, should definitely give it a look.
INB4 Ivokk jizzes in vent about GW2 with dragon.
